Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: X Ambassadors – Unsteady (–20)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Adele – Send My Love (To Your New Lover) (+18)

New Entrants
~ Lukas Graham have debuted with their second song, Mama Said. 7 Years was a really nice song with a sweet message that I appreciated. This new single is really not that interesting. I don't know why artists think it sounds good when they throw a bunch of kids into the song. It doesn't. It sounds really bad. The rest of the song is very mediocre at best. The last chorus is painful to listen to with those vocals. When this guy raised his voice like that in 7 Years, it sounded pretty decent. But on this song it sounds pretty bad. I have to say, overall, I'm not feeling this song and it's going to be one where I try my best to avoid it.

~ The 1975 have returned after I don't know how long. The Sound, while without a doubt being better than Mama Said, is not that interesting either. Their biggest single, Chocolate, I admit was pretty catchy. But this one just lacks a lot of things. I've never really cared much about The 1975, so I kind of just brush past their music. This song is a good example. It's nothing that really stands out. There weren't really any risks taken and with a band like The 1975, it gets a little boring after a while of hearing similar songs. Maybe it's just me since I don't really care too much about the band. I'm sure their fans are loving this song and their new album. But it just doesn't grab my attention. I don't hate it, it's okay. But it's not something I'm really going to care about in the coming weeks.

~ I think the perfect to describe Symon – Say is annoying. I didn't really think much of it the first month it was on Hit-Bound. I kind of just threw it into the "I don't care, I'll just say it's good" pile. Then I actually listened to it and I'm pretty sure the color-coding for it went from green to red, which is rare. And it being on Hit-Bound for months didn't help. I mean, this girl's voice is fine. But the looping drop is extremely annoying and that alone is already a good chunk of these three and a half minutes. Also, I don't know if this girl thinks she can rap. She can't. Overall, this song is easily a throwaway song. Although not exactly bad enough to be in my Bottom 5 picks of the week, it's still annoying and just uninteresting.

~ Just when I thought I'd have to crown One Dance the Biggest Whiff Of The Year, it debuts this week. I'm not going to go on about how Hits 1 is late with it like everyone else. But I will say it spending 9 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 says it all. I still like the song. Of course I don't like as much now as I did when I first heard it. But I like hearing this kind of sound by Drake. His best song without a doubt is Hold On, We're Going Home because it wasn't this hardcore trap-sounding rap song. It was a lot more R&B and it's nice when I see Drake producing songs that aren't all rap. When One Dance came out, I loved it and the beat was what hooked me in the most. I don't always find Drake songs that I like. But this one, I have to say, is a huge score for Drake. I'm one of those people who could possibly consider this one of the songs of the summer. But it's pretty obvious it's going to be Billboard's #1 song of the summer.

Hit-Bound
~ Mikey Piff is back after two weeks of celebrity guest hosts.

~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
  • Demi Lovato – Body Say (DEBUT)
  • The Strumbellas – Spirits
  • Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj – No Broken Hearts
  • Flo Rida/Jason Derulo – Hello Friday
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – Girls Talk Boys (DEBUT)
  • Jordan Fisher – All About Us
  • Troye Sivan/Alessia Cara – Wild (DEBUT)
  • Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend (DEBUT)
  • AJR – I'm Not Famous
  • Ben Rector – Brand New
  • Magic! – Red Dress
  • Jacob Whitesides – Lovesick
  • Katy Perry – Rise (DEBUT)

~ Demi Lovato has debuted with Body Say. Looking at the lyrics to this song, it's pretty clear she is long gone from being a Disney star. It doesn't top Heart Attack, Cool For The Summer, or Give Your Heart A Break, but it's a good song.

~ 5 Seconds Of Summer – Girls Talk Boys is one of their weaker singles if I'm being honest here. Jet Black Heart was amazing, this one not so much.

~ Troye Sivan is back with the re-release of Wild, now featuring Alessia Cara. I'm definitely enjoying right now just like I did when the original version was released.

~ Katy Perry has made her comeback with the new single, Rise. It doesn't top some of Katy Perry's previous work (Teenage Dream, E.T., Dark Horse, etc.). But I'm definitely enjoying it right now.

~ Coldplay have debuted with probably my favorite song of the year, Hymn For The Weekend. I was so excited, but so disappointed when I realized it's the SeeB remix. Not cool, Hits 1. Not cool at all. I mean the remix is good, I guess. I'll still consider it the best song on Hit-Bound. But it doesn't even compare to fantastic original album version. I feel like this remix just takes away the feel and vibe from the song. There aren't as many Chris Martin and Beyoncé harmonies in this version and that's really disappointing. I really really hope Hits 1 can switch to the original version because that's the version I fell in love with and I genuinely believe it's better than the remix. SeeB might've saved I Took A Pill In Ibiza, but you honestly cannot make Hymn For The Weekend any better than it already is. Overall, I'm happy that it's here, but disappointed that it's the remix. Hits 1, if you are reading this, please switch to the original version.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend
2. Troye Sivan/Alessia Cara – Wild
3. Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
4. Katy Perry – Rise
5. Demi Lovato – Body Say

Hello Blurbday
~ Yikes! X Ambassadors – Unsteady has had the Biggest DROP!!!... of the Week for two consecutive weeks now. Very unfortunate.

~ We have a couple of new entrants in the Top 10 this week. When OneRepublic – Wherever I Go debuted, I was betting that it would peak somewhere in the Top 10, and it did. So yay me. I was right!

~ Another Top 10 debut this week is the song I'm slowly growing into, Calvin Harris/Rihanna – This Is What You Came For. I can say Rihanna did a really nice job on the vocals. But the drop is still disappointing and the constant repetition of the word "you" is still annoying.

~ Panic! At The Disco – Victorious made quite a big jump back into the Top 20 this week. I'm not sick of this song yet, so I don't really mind. But it'd be nice if it doesn't have an extended stay there.

~ However, Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out I am sick of and it's obnoxious that it's still up at #12. Something's telling me this song won't be leaving for another few months.

~ Ruth B. – Lost Boy took quite the drop back down to #40. Maybe that means it'll leave us next week. But I'm sure everyone saw what Hits 1 did with Gwen Stefani – Make Me Like You, so I don't know what to expect on this countdown anymore. Literally anything can happen.

~ Alessia Cara – Wild Things also took a little tumble down to #32. I do like this song, but if it ends up flopping I won't really care.

~ I'm still waiting for Hits 1 to give Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman the boot out of the Top 10.

~ Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills I'm 95% sure will be our next #1 song. It would've been nice to squeeze Just Like Fire in for at one week. But of course Can't Stop The Feeling has to spend as much time as possible at #1. I really don't want to hate this song. But the more time it spends at #1, the harder that will be.

~ As far as our exits go, Messin' Around was destined to exit eventually. Same goes for Never Forget You. Both songs were declining on this chart and their end was coming very clearly. This week marks the first week since February 2013 in which we do not have a Fall Out Boy song on the countdown. Talk about a long run going for almost three and a half years. Really the only exit I'm saddened about is Jet Black Heart.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Mike Posner can hold at #1 for a second week in a row and a third time overall with I Took A Pill In Ibiza!

  1. I'm sad that we're going for the first non-Fall Out Boy week. Shame, they lasted 3 1/2 years with at least 1 song on the Countdown.

I'm also sad that we lost Never Forget You.

I'm glad that Messin' Around is gone, and I was getting sick of Jet Black Heart anyway.

The Sound is the best new debut this week. Its so great we have at lease one indie rock song on here that I love. I don't know why some of you don't like it.

The vocals on Mama Said and the kids make this song unbearable.

Say is annoying, that's all that needs to be said.

I hate One Dance. The beat is fine, but its just on a tropical loop the whole song. And I cannot stand the auto-tune and the boring vocals make this even worse. Why do some of you like this again?

I haven's listened to Body Say, Girls Talk Boys, Wild or the SeeB remix of Hymn For The Weekend.

Rise is the new best song on Hit-Bound. Its not as good as Firework, Teenage Dream, Roar, etc, but its close and damn well better than her last single she released. (That God awful This Is How We Do)

Did Unsteady really have to have the biggest drop for the 2nd week in a row?

Can we please get Work From Home and Me Too out of the countdown soon? Every time I hear them I hate them even more.

I really want Just Like Fire or even Cheap Thrills to hit #1, but knowing Hits 1, Can't Stop The Feeling will probably hold onto that top spot until its 12th week at #1.

I can't believe Victorious jumped back into the top 20. But then again, it is the longest running song on my top chart.

    Yay! History dropped to #20!

I expect Hands To Myself and Lost Boy to leave next week perhaps.

Lets get Send My Love (To Your New Lover) into the top 20 soon.

I have no official opinion on Treat You Better.

I still hate Wherever I Go. It doesn't feel like a good OneRepublic song like Apologize, All The Right Moves, or any of the singles from Native.

    Top 5:
    1. Just Like Fire
    2. Cheap Thrills
    3. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
    4. Can't Stop The Feeling

    Smooth- Santana/Rob Thomas

    1. New Romantics isn't on Spotify, because Taylor pulled her entire 1989 catalogue off of streaming.

    2. I know. I would count it as 0 plays.

    3. I was laughing at that so hard.

    4. I don't find it funny. The lack of Spotify streaming forced Style, Wildest Dreams, Out Of The Woods, and New Romantics to miss #1 on the Hot 100. Its also responsible for forcing Bad Blood to have only 1 week at #1 as well.

      Delete
    5. I was laughing at how you see songs like Say have 685800 and then New Romantics just has 0. Not everything has to be all serious. And although I don't necessarily like her decision to not have 1989 on Spotify, it's a way to earn money with more people buying her music physically or digitally.

    6. Well, it does help increase in sales, and she doesn't have much airplay problems at all, she's basically a radio darling already. That and she currently has 2 songs with over 1 billion views on YouTube, so that helps a bunch. But many songs have reached the top spot with streaming alone, (One Dance comes to my mind a lot) and I don't think its fair when a certain number of songs have great sales, airplay and YouTube but no streaming cannot hit #1, but a song can rely on huge amounts of streaming keeping it at the top for weeks on end.

    2. If the radio played the version without Sean Paul, it would probably be in my top 5. But no, the radio has to annoy me and play the annoying version of it.

As for Just Like Fire, I'm really tired of it at this point. So yeah.

  16. So, I know we still have over a third of the year left, but what do you guys think the #1 song on the Year-End Top 45 Countdown will be? With Hello, five (if memory serves) of its 12 weeks were counted towards 2015, and it left in June. We also have Stressed Out, which has been here since the end of 2015 I think, and right now is still in the Top 15. CSTF could possibly make it if it continues to dominate, except that it came in May. Cake By The Ocean will probably be high up there, too.

And on that note, I don't mind CSTF still being #1 (and I could see it reaching with Timber and Counting Stars from 2014), but I would like to see Cheap Thrills hit #1, too.

    2. My Prediction:
      1. Can't Stop the Feeling (Peak: 5 weeks at #1)
      2. Stressed Out (5 weeks at #1)
      3. Cake By the Ocean (4 weeks at #1)
      4. Hello (5 weeks at #1 IN 2016)
      5. New Romantics (2 weeks at #1)
      6. One Call Away (2 weeks at #1)
      7. Perfect (2 weeks at #1)
      8. My House (1 week at #1)
      9. Confident (1 week at #1)
      10. Victorious (1 week at #1)
      11. I Took a Pill in Ibiza (1 week at #1)

    3. What about Irresistible? That one didn't hit #1 but it was on the countdown for quite a while.

      Delete
    4. Well I wouldn't be so sure about some of those in the Top 10 just yet (One Call Away and New Romantics to name two), I mean CSTF is definitely going to be Top 5 at this rate, and Stressed Out probably will, too. Although I forgot about that one week where it had that huge drop from #1…

  21. Ay yo, the flyest motherfucker in the room
    Yeah, you know it's me
Bitches hating on him, cause he started out here locally
Hopefully, I'll be at the top soon
For now I'm at my house, on the couch, watching cartoons
You know how much you love it when you get it in abundance
Give a fuck about a budget when you always be the subject of discussion
But it's nothing when you stop and just say fuck it
Cause you walking out in public and you hear 'em talkin' rubbish
I just wanna ride, ride through the city in a Cutlass
Find a big butt bitch, somewhere get my nuts kissed
That's the way it goes when you party just like I do
Bitches on my dick that used to brush me off in high school
Take over the world when I'm on my Donald Trump shit
Look at all this money, ain't that some shit?
Take over the world when I'm on my Donald Trump shit
Look at all this money, ain't that some shit?
We gonna take over the World while these haters gettin' mad
That's why all my bitches bad, they see this crazy life I have and they in awe
We gon' win, you can take the lose or draw
What I'm in, got these hoes that used to play me in their bras
We gonna take over the World while these haters gettin' mad
Take over the World, watch these haters get mad
That's why all my bitches bad, they see this crazy life I have
Hop into the car then we take 'em to the pad
    It's a wrap
And motherfuckers think they know me but they never met the kids
Style come with excellence and money make benevolence
Irrelevant for the fuckers who never been intelligent
I kill my Henny, break the bottle for the hell of it
Tell a bitch, that she better bring her friend
And if she want an autograph she better bring a pen
Yeah the party never ends, this life is what I recommend
And if you got a hoe before me, then she better be a 10
I ain't picky but these girls be acting tricky
When the situation's sticky and the liquor got 'em silly
But I take over the World when I'm on my Donald Trump shit
Look at all this money, ain't that some shit?
We gonna take over the World while these haters gettin' mad

It'll all be fine, long as Pack on it
Yeah we all had dreams but they ain't act on it
Now they mad that the mantle got a plaque on it
Fell off the bandwagon but they back on it
And now they wonder why I'm so cynical
People fall in love with an image it's so typical
I been an original, everybody a critic
Everybody got an opinion, and everybody give it
I don't see nobody that navigated the mission
I'd be liable to listen to anybody that did it
We independent and been it for a minute
Pulling up with the back of the van tinted
And I'm the cracker that's in it
      What a vision we living
      What a position I'm in
You ain't on my side now
If you ain't have my back back then

They want it with me now
Hit them with the rope-a-dope, they been tryna pin me down
I don't really think a lot of people get me now
      'Fore they get me down
I duck 'em with the Antoine shimmy now
Get the paper, divvy it up, hold my city down
Hope I make the city proud
      Whole team getting jiggy now
      On the road like 4.0
On the road like it's all I know
      Forget to call my folks
      I'm missing birthdays and funerals

Now we making money on the back end
They look at me like, "That shit just happened"
Fell into my lap, I can't help but laugh at 'em
I clock in, go to work, we back at 'em, oh

In the cut I'm rolling up my broccoli
Ya I know your baby mama fond of me
All she want to do is smoke that broccoli
Whispered in my ear she trying to leave with me
Said that I can get that pussy easily
Said that I can hit that shit so greasily
I'm a dirty dog I did it sleazily

Ain't no tellin' what I'm finna be on
I'm beyond all that fuck shit
Ain't no tellin' what I'm finna be on
I'm beyond all that fuck shit

      I got companies and Pesos
I got people on my payroll
She don't do it 'less I say so
      I don't smoke if it ain't fuego
I should sauce 'em up like Prego
      Fettucini with Alfredo
All I wanted was the fame and every game they made on Sega
I was 5 or 6 years old when I had told myself ok you're special
But I treat you like my equal never lesser
I was 26 years old when we had dropped this one amazing record
      Had the world stepping
      That's what I call epic
Couple summers later I got paper
I acquired taste for salmon on a bagel
With the capers on a square plate
At the restaurant with the why you got to stare face
To know I either ball or I record over the snare and bass
      Rapper face, dread headed
      Golden diamond teeth wearing
They just mad cause I got that cheese bitch I keep dairy
Turnt up in the party getting lit to Yachty
With a Spanish Barbie word to my mami

In the middle of the party bitch get off me
In the cut I'm rolling up my broccoli
Ya I know your baby mama fond of me
All she want to do is smoke that broccoli
      (That weed that weed)
Whispered in my ear she trying to leave with me
      (She wanna fuck)
Said that I can get that pussy easily
      (I'm gonna fuck)
Said I can hit that shit so greasily
I'm a dirty dog I did it sleazily

What's that icy thing hanging round my neck?
It's cold, 'cause I'm standing in a freezer.
      They photoshopped my waist

  25. And seeing as Mama Said debuted, and how people are hating it because of those children chanting in the background, does it remind anyone else of that stupid chipmunk voice in Dessert? They're both the same kind of annoyance, I'd say.

    1. To me, Mama Said sounds a lot like Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers in many ways. That song has children in it too but they're not as bad as the ones in Mama Said.

  27. So the Top 10 on iTunes at the time of this typing is looking something like this:
    1. Rise
    2. Can't Stop the Feeling
    3. Cheap Thrills (discounted to .69)
    4. Make Me
    5. This Is What You Came For
    6. H.O.L.Y.
    7. Me Too
    8. Ride
    9. One Dance (not much longer it's looking like, muhahaha!!!)
    10. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)

Maybe Make Me won't be as successful as we thought, although it still has a shot at a Top 10 debut. Rise, on the other hand...

This tweet and the one after it suggests what we may be in for. https://twitter.com/chartdata/status/754178878114062336

    3. Are you going red = shit, turquoise = bad, yellow = meh, pink = decent, blue = good, green = great?

If that's the case, the biggest red/turquoises I disagree with are How You Remind Me, Maria Maria, Foolish, The Way You Move, and Forever. And how fitting that the #1 is your favorite.

      Delete
    4. My favorite song on there is Crank That, and my least favorite is Whatever You Like.

      Delete
    5. How You Remind Me: I just hate Nickelback and post-grunge.
Maria Maria: Its garbage. Its not the same as Smooth was.
Foolish: I find it boring, uninteresting, dated production, and just not me.
The Way You Move: I'm not a big is all.
Forever: I hate 95% of the Chris Brown songs. I only like Run It.

Yeah, I love We Belong Together. And One Sweet Day is also my #1 of the 90s.

Crank That is responsible for the single handled annihilation of mainstream rap and hip-hop. Its stupid, ridiculous, overplayed, dated, and just plain brag-rap. I've always liked T.I's cheesy side in this song. I like the beat, and the line "You can have whatever you like." I don't understand why you hate this song, Parker?

      Delete
    6. Crank That is just so damn catchy and I love the beat and Soulja Boy's voice. I'm not a fan of T.I. and Whatever You Like is just plain trash. I find the chorus really annoying and the verses aren't good as well. Overall just a bad song.

      Delete
    7. It's just his opinion. Just like how you hating Nickelback (while they are one of my favorite bands) is your opinion.

    8. I know, but I just want to know why.

Am I to assume that your favorite song on here is either Viva La Vida, Photograph, Apologize, or How You Remind Me, and your least favorite is either We Belong Together, Lollipop, or Single Ladies? (Put A Ring On It)

      Delete
    9. His is probably Apologize and Single Ladies.

    10. Yeah, I think so too, but I'm just guessing the others are probably in the top 5 and bottom 5.

    10. No, I choose the songs that I think would realistically leave. So Me Too doesn't look like it'll leave next week.

  42. This Week in Billboard Chart History: In 1995, We Got to 'Know' Alanis Morissette

"You Oughta Know" became Morissette's first No. 1. Plus, remembering feats by Miley Cyrus, Billy Joel & UB40.

    July 18, 2009
Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" completed its climb to No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. The song marked her first AC hit after she'd made her mark with younger fans familiar with her Disney acting roles.

    July 19, 1980
Billy Joel's 13th Billboard Hot 100 hit was a lucky one: "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" became his first No. 1. He'd reign again with "Tell Her About It" in 1983 and his musical history lesson "We Didn't Start the Fire" in 1989.

    July 20, 1991
25 years ago today: EMF reaches No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Unbelievable." What does the U.K. group's moniker stand for? Epsom Mad Funkers, the name of a fan club of fellow British band, and alt-dance pioneers, New Order.

    July 21, 1990
Glenn Medeiros ruled the Billboard Hot 100 with "She Ain't Worth It," featuring Bobby Brown (2-1). Three years earlier, Medeiros had arrived with his No. 12-peaking debut, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You." Brown earned his second of two No. 1s, following 1989's "My Prerogative."

    July 22, 1995
Alanis Morissette scores her first Billboard No. 1, as her debut U.S. smash "You Oughta Know" tops the Alternative Songs chart. "When I was writing it, it was so subconscious. I wasn't aware of what was coming out of me," the then-21-year-old told Billboard shortly before the first single from her debut Maverick/Reprise album, Jagged Little Pill, topped the tally. "I'd go into the booth ... and sing. I'd listen the next day and not really remember it."

    July 23, 1988
After reaching the top five, but not No. 1, with each of his first three singles – "Don't Mean Nothing," "Should've Known Better" and "Endless Summer Nights" – Richard Marx crowned the Billboard Hot 100 at last with power ballad "Hold On to the Nights," the fourth and final release from his self-titled debut album.

    July 24, 1993
UB40 sends its reggae-spiced cover of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song, from the Sharon Stone movie Sliver, would reign for seven weeks.

    2. # of Spotify plays for One Dance: 551,242,732
Five hundred fifty-one million, two hundred forty-two thousand, seven hundred thirty-two.

      THAT'S A LOT!!!

    3. Again, this is why I hate the fact that Billboard started taking factoring Streaming; any song can hit #1 based on streaming and nothing else.

      Delete
    4. At least One Dance looks like it's not much longer for #1, between not only Rise debuting next week, but Cheap Thrills gaining fast. It may get one or two more weeks, but it doesn't look like there will be any record breaking here.

Also, Lush Life by Zara Larsson is finally debuting, at #97.

    5. Lush Life needs to debut higher than #97.

  44. Expect a big debut in the top 10 for my top 50 countdown.
