New Entrants
~ I'm pretty split right now on the new Adele single, Send My Love (To Your New Lover). When I first listened to it, I really enjoyed it. But then my interest in this song has been slowly decreasing to the point where it's okay. It's definitely better than When We Were Young, so that's something. But slowly this song is getting more and more boring in my opinion. I thoroughly appreciate the message in the song, but I don't find the song itself to be very interesting. I'm kind of just thinking out loud, but I feel like it lacks something (I don't know what) that made songs like Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire To The Rain, and Rumor Has It to be so catchy. Overall, I don't love the song. It's okay. But please keep in mind that this is all my opinion. I often times feel like I have to reiterate that so I don't get comments from people hating on my opinion.
Hit-Bound
~ For the second straight week, we have a celebrity guest host in for Mikey Piff. This time around, it's Brendon Urie.
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

Hit-Bound
~ For the second straight week, we have a celebrity guest host in for Mikey Piff. This time around, it's Brendon Urie.
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:
- Symon – Say
- Jacob Whitesides – Lovesick
- The 1975 – The Sound
- Flo Rida/Jason Derulo – Hello Friday
- Magic! – Red Dress
- Disturbed – The Sound of Silence
- Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj – No Broken Hearts
- AJR – I'm Not Famous
- Ben Rector – Brand New
- Lukas Graham – Mama Said
- Jordan Fisher – All About Us
- Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance
- Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
- The Strumbellas – Spirits
~ The Strumbellas debuted with Spirits. Ultimately this song is okay, but it's a little bland and uninteresting in some parts. So don't surprised if this song is color-coded red in the future.
~ Disturbed – The Sound of Silence has been on Hit-Bound for a seemingly long time. I fear that this song will not make it on to the countdown. I really do love this song to the point where it is my new favorite song on Hit-Bound, so I really hope it debuts on the countdown soon.
~ The 1975 – The Sound has been on Hit-Bound for a while too. Unlike The Sound of Silence, I honestly don't care (and would prefer) if this song doesn't debut on the countdown.
~ Symon – Say is getting more and more annoying after each listen. I really hope it can leave us soon.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Disturbed – The Sound of Silence
2. Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
3. Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance
4. Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj – No Broken Hearts
5. Jordan Fisher – All About Us
Hits & Misses
~ This week, I thought I'd include the show Hits & Misses, which (for those unaware) is hosted by Pete Wentz.
~ Here is the Hits & Misses list:
- DNCE – Toothbrush
- Flo Rida – My House
- Panic! At The Disco – Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time
- James Bay – Let It Go
- Justin Timberlake – Can't Stop The Feeling
- Zayn Malik – Pillowtalk
- Weezer – King Of The World
- Fall Out Boy/Demi Lovato – Irresistible
- Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself
- Lil Dicky/Brendon Urie – Molly
- MAX – Basement Party
- Nick Jonas/Tove Lo – Close
- Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills
- The 1975 – The Sound
- Butch Walker – East Coast Girl
Top 5 Hits & Misses Picks
1. Lil Dicky/Brendon Urie – Molly
2. Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills
3. MAX – Basement Party
4. James Bay – Let It Go
5. Panic! At The Disco – Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time
Send My Blurbs
~ P!nk – Just Like Fire has hit a new peak at #2 this week. I'm still waiting for this song to hit #1. I would honestly prefer this song over Can't Stop The Feeling.
~ I'm honestly not even going to comment on that huge piece of garbage that was awarded the Biggest Jump Of The Week this week.
~ Twenty One Pilots – Ride is most certainly not Top 5-worthy material. With that being said, I hope it does not peak any higher and begins moving down.
~ Speaking of Twenty One Pilots, Stressed Out needs to start dropping as well. We can't just have it in the Top 20 for another month. We have better songs under the Top 20 that are more worthy of this spot.
~ G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha – Me, Myself, & I managed to break out of the Bottom 5. Unfortunately, I'm pretty over this song. So it'd be nice if it could leave soon.
~ Hits 1 must have read my comment last week on Timeflies – Once In A While failing to do anything noticeable on the countdown. Well this week, it did something noticeable as it jumped to #15.
~ OneRepublic – Wherever I Go made a nice jump as well into the Top 20 this week. I knew this song would be able to do it. :)
~ Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman jumping to #6 is not acceptable at this point. I really want to get this song out of here and replace it with Into You.
~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Coldplay can hold at #1 for a second week in a row and a tenth time overall with Hymn For The Weekend!
Throwback Pick Of The Week: Nickelback – How You Remind Me
Most Missed Countdown Song: One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go
#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Twenty One Pilots – Heathens
Favorite Countdown Song This Week One Year Ago: David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
My Top 5 Picks
1. Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
2. P!nk – Just Like Fire
3. Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills
4. Charlie Puth/Selena Gomez – We Don't Talk Anymore
5. OneRepublic – Wherever I Go
My Bottom 5 Picks

2. Rihanna/Drake – Work
3. Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself
4. Selena Gomez – Kill Em With Kindness
5. Zayn Malik – Pillowtalk

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to get sick of Don't Let Me Down.
ReplyDeleteI'm also losing interest in Figure Me Out.
DeleteMy 2nd favorite song right now, is also the new #2 song for me on the countdown in the form of Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to get back into Irresistible today.
I'm glad Don't Mind jumped 12 spots this week.
I'm starting to get sick of 7 Years, and I'm not particularly happy about their new song Mama Said.
Great, Me Too jumped into the top 20. -__________-
I'm completely over Jet Black Heart, and I hope it'll leave next week.
Is Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time going to be Panic! At The Disco's next single? Because if it is, it may re-entry my top 45 chart.
Work From Home took another drop this week. YAY!
I really wish that The Sound, and The Sound Of Silence would have debuted, but I don't think they will.
Again, am I the only person who still loves Stressed Out.
I may just like Dangerous Woman again soon.

Thank God I'm not the only one who hates it!
DeleteHits 1 is missing so many great songs right now! It is really irritating. Here is a list of some songs they are missing and REALLY need to pick up!
ReplyDeleteDance Off- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis/Idris Elba/Anderson .Paak

Panda- It's getting old :/
Wild- Idc
Sucker For Pain- Idc

I Hate U, I Love U- It's good
Lush Life- It's really good actually!

Too Good- This song is amazing!!
No Money- It's starting to get old
Best Fake Smile- Idc
Good Girls- Idc
Body Say- It's okay.
Basement Party- It was on Hitbound for like 1 or 2 weeks
Panda is straight up shit. So no, it should not debut. :P
DeleteThat's what I figured :P
DeleteIf Panda did debut though, Adrian, would it be the 3rd contender for worst song of 2016?
DeleteProbably.
DeleteAnd here are my bottom 5 songs of 2016 so far (in no particular order):
Let It Go
Sweatshirt
Mama Said
Stressed Out
Either Over And Over Again or Jet Black Heart
I kinda find Panda funny-bad, much like I'm Ready :P Fun fact, despite the song claiming Desiigner "got broads in Atlanta", he's actually never been to Atlanta. Spyder Harrison has more broads there now!
DeleteMy bottom 5 of 2016 so far:
Delete1. Work From Home- Fifth Harmony/Ty Dolla $ign
2. Make You Miss Me- Sam Hunt
3. Me Too- Meghan Trainor
4. Low Life- Future/The Weeknd
5. H.O.L.Y- Florida Georgia Line
Work From Home is okay at this point
DeleteMe Too is great but getting a little old
Low Life is pretty good
Haven't heard the other 2
Panda would legit be the worst countdown song of the year hands-down. It is definitely the worst song of the year overall, but if it did debut, it would definitely be the third contender for Bottom 5 of the year.
DeleteWhen it comes to worst songs of the year, I normally go by the Billboard charts. And yes, Work From Home is, hands down the worst song for me. With Me Too, and Make You Miss Me coming in very close behind.
DeleteMy bottom 5 songs of 2016 (that were on the weekend countdown or HitBound)
Delete5. Conrad Sewell - Hold Me Up
4. AJR - I'm Not Famous
3. Rihanna/Drake - Work
2. Magic! - Red Dress
1. Jason Derulo - Get Ugly
Why do you and Adrian only count songs that were on the Weekend Countdown and not other chart sources like the Billboard Hot 100 chart and other Billboard charts.
DeleteI do the Weekend Countdown, AT40, and the Hot 100
DeleteI normally do any of the charts on Billboard. The Hot 100, rock, pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, et cetera.
DeleteBecause I'm so used to Hits 1.
DeleteFor that matter, Panda was on the YouTube15 a couple weeks ago. I'll do my Bottom 5 of the year so far later maybe.
DeleteAlso, why 3 or less?
DeleteThat is not right.
DeleteThis is a Hits 1 blog. Just like how my Top 45 songs of the year are based off songs that are on Hits 1.
DeleteAnd although I'm not exactly a fan of Future, I actually didn't mind Low Life; it wasn't as good as The Weeknd's other hits (except Earned It), but it does fit them nicely.
DeleteIm sorry adrian but sweatshirt is more cancerous than don't mind but both are really high in cancer
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone here other than . even like Sweatshirt?
DeleteI think that Sweatshirt is mediocre in my opinion.
DeleteMost Missed Song: Ellie Goulding - On My Mind
ReplyDeleteLeast Missed Song: Jason Derulo - Get Ugly
Yes, they left in the same week.
Most Missed Song For Hits 1: Jason Derulo - Get Ugly

ReplyDeleteBut regarding Spirits, I said this on my blog, but to me it honestly feels reminiscent of Ho Hey by The Lumineers, I don't really know why. Gosh darn it, I'm with you on Into You by Ariana Grande, they need that one here soon.

ReplyDelete"I'm honestly not gonna even comment on the huge piece of garbage that was awarded the biggest jump of the week this week."
Yeah I like that one lol.
DeleteFigure Me Out isn't even popular, why is it in the top 20?
ReplyDeleteI do like how Hits 1 picks up songs that aren't really heard elsewhere. It gives the artist recognition and gives me new songs to listen to. But Figure Me Out is honestly just okay.
DeleteI have no opinion on Figure Me Out.

There's gonna be a post out on my blog later today where I review the BBH100, AT40, Weekend Countdown, and everyone's personal charts. So stay tuned for that.
ReplyDeleteWell, guess I'll do it too.
ReplyDeleteSay by Symon (yellow)

What's all this hate for Hello Friday? It's a great song in my opinion.
DeleteMy opinion
DeleteSymon - Say ( Red ) Bland and Annoying
Jacob Whitesides - Lovesick (Green) Good song
The 1975 - The Sound (Purple) Awesome Song
Flo RIDA/Jason Derulo - Hello Friday (Green)
Pretty solid and catchy
Magic! - Red Dress ( Green ) Great song
Disturbed - The sound of silence ( Blue ) Meh boring
Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj - No Broken Hearts (Green) Awesome vocals on this song,
AJR - I'm Not Famous (Blue) mediocre at best
Ben Rector - Brand New (blue) Meh
Lukas Graham - Mama said ( Red ) kinda annoying
Drake/WizKid/Kyla - One Dance ( Green )
Alesso/Nico & Vinz (Purple) AMAZING
The Strumbellas - Spirits (Blue) It's okay but it's really redundant
Wow I'm one of the few people that actually loves The Sound of Silence.
DeleteI don't like it is a cover of a really good song and they butchered it
DeleteTSOS sucks
DeleteThe thing with Hello Friday is, aside from being by two acts that aren't as personality driven as most other party jams, an out of place Limp Bizkit reference and other odd lyrical inclusions are a thing, and the production isn't even all that lively.
DeleteI'm pretending it's not a cover and enjoying the song for what it is. It's just kinda boring IMO

So you really like the song Cheap Thrills ?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan
DeleteYeah. It's grown on me a bit since its debut.
DeleteIn my opinion, I like the one with Asia herself better. This song starts out your basic, run-of-the-mill pop song and then Sean Paul makes the chorus really annoying. Plus it's already getting overplayed
DeleteSia.... Stupid auto correct

Shake It Off or New Romantics?
Shake it Off!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOmg.......idk.......probably New Romantics. After listening to everything else 1989 has to offer, Shake It Off felt just a teensy bit bland. It's still catchy, but not like Blank Space, Bad Blood, Out Of The Woods, and New Romantics.
DeleteI've listened to the entire album, and I'd say my least favorite song is, without a doubt, This Love.

DeleteHey guys! Sorry for not getting my posts out yet. My parents took away my electronics today and I had a sudden baseball game yesterday (yeah I'm sneaking on to give you this update lol). Don't worry though! My BBH100 post will be out tomorrow and most likely so will TWC, if not that'll come out Tuesday. So yeah sorry for the delays!
ReplyDeleteWhy did your parents take away your electronics?
DeleteMy brother has his iPad takes away for like a couple weeks because his cousin accidentally bought $100 worth of gems on Clash Of Clans for him
DeleteAw. It wasn't your brother's fault so he shouldn't have gotten it taken away.
DeleteActually my brother was on the purchase gems screen and he dared my cousin to buy the gems and he did it, but my brother had to pay the 100 bucks and my cousin's parents don't even know about it. It was actually kinda funny.
DeleteIdrk I was just fresh for some reason it was only a day though.

ReplyDeleteI swear, about none of these songs are going to become popular.
DeleteOh yes they are.
DeleteNo they're not, sorry
DeleteI'm never gonna hear it on radio. It will never get popular.
DeleteI'm with Miles and Parker on this one. And I just googled that song and it was from like 2008. How is it new?
DeleteMaybe it's me, but come on. IRRESISTIBLE???? STILL ON HERE??? Lol
ReplyDeleteIt's Hits 1's love for Fall Out Boy
DeleteIt was pretty good at first I must admit, but now it just sounds like bland noise

DeleteThey've been on the countdown since their return with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark in 2013. I'm sure many will be throwing a be-gone party once Irresistible is no more.
DeleteNOOOOOO IRRESISTIBLE MUST NOT LEAVE!!!
DeleteCan someone explain why like some of these songs don't even appear ( or at least not very high)
ReplyDeleteOn other chart lists like iTunes or BillBoard???
Like The Summer Set is like 124th on the ALTERNATIVE CHARTS ( meaning probably 1000th or so in real charts ) so can one of you guys explain why they put songs on here that aren't really relavent??
I'm not hating, a lot of those songs are good. I was wondering why they do that
I don't know. But I like when they do that because then it gives me new music to listen to that I may not hear elsewhere.
DeleteYeah I suppose but it's just weird for a today's hits station. It's like they Just pick and choose which Songs to play

This Week in Billboard Chart History: In 2003, Beyonce Scored Her First Solo Hot 100 No. 1
ReplyDelete"Crazy in Love," featuring Jay Z, began its eight-week reign. Plus, remembering feats by The Black Eyed Peas, Garth Brooks & Don Henley.
July 11, 2009
The bad news for The Black Eyed Peas: seven years ago today, their "Boom Boom Pow" ended a 12-week reign atop the Billboard Hot 100. The good news? They replaced themselves at No. 1 with follow-up "I Gotta Feeling," which went on to spend even more time on top: 14 weeks. The 26-week domination for the songs marks the longest by a single act in the Hot 100's history.
July 12, 2003
Clearly, it was her destiny to achieve solo stardom. Thirteen years ago today, Beyonce earned her first of five Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s apart from Destiny's Child (with whom she achieved four leaders), as "Crazy in Love," featuring her then-future-husband, Jay Z, began an eight-week command.
July 13, 1985
A year after landing its first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with "The Reflex," Duran Duran ruled again, as "A View to a Kill," the title theme to the 14th James Bond film, rose 2-1.
July 14, 1990
"Holding you, I held everything. For a moment, wasn't I the king?" Garth Brooks sings in "The Dance," his modern country classic that began a four-week reign on Hot Country Songs on this date 26 years ago. Read Billboard's recap of Brooks' July 8 New York show here.
July 15, 1989
Don Henley's third solo album, The End of the Innocence, debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 97. Two months later, it peaks at No. 8; it's eventually certified 6-times Platinum by the RIAA. In 2000, when Henley released follow-up Inside Job, he reflected on Innocence in a Billboard cover story. "I still love the song 'New York Minute,' and 'The Last Worthless Evening' is just straight-ahead pop, but it's good. And, of course, [the title cut, a No. 8 Billboard Hot 100 hit co-written with and co-produced by Bruce Hornsby] is very fixed in time. I think it has enough universality that it could still apply today, but it was about the Reagan era." Henley also relayed the reach of the No. 21-peaking "The Heart of the Matter": "I have a collection of the most amazing letters about that song from all over the world that I treasure. I'm gonna keep them forever."
July 16, 1988
1988 marked a renaissance for pop singer-songwriter Eric Carmen. That February, he earned his first Billboard Hot 100 top 10, the Dirty Dancing soundtrack smash "Hungry Eyes," since 1976; the song also rose to No. 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Carmen, formerly the Raspberries' frontman, followed with another melodic gem: "Make Me Lose Control," which on July 16, 1988, crowned AC (similarly his first No. 1 on the list in 12 years). The same week, "Control" entered the Hot 100's top 10, on its way to a No. 3 peak.
Speaking of the AC survey …
July 17, 1961
Happy 55th birthday, Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart! The ranking originated with Brook Benton's lighthearted "The Boll Weevil Song" as its first No. 1. (The most recent new leader, Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling!," is the 796th AC No. 1.)
Happy free slurpee day!

6. Dangerous Woman

19. I'm In Control by AlunaGeorge featuring Popcaan

Hm. Four songs I don't care for at all, two that I already own, and some others I like a lot (albeit with some censoring, which is very prevalent in Panda). Album cover's pretty cool though.
Just thought I'd share that for anyone interested :)
When does it come out?
DeleteAugust 5th.
DeleteI actually know #18 and #19.
DeleteI know for sure #19 was on the radio charts for a while. I think #18 was, but I'm not sure.

Wow... One Dance again.
DeleteI honestly have no problem with One Dance still at #1.
DeleteI do. Drake sounds so boring, and I'm starting to get sick of the tropical house vibe that songs this year have been doing.
DeleteI don't care if One Dance is #1 for like 15 weeks, but there is one specific song in the top 10 in hoping can replace it soon.
DeleteI hate One Dance
DeleteUmm okay?
DeleteAs I've said several times, it's not that I'm not happy for Drake getting his first #1 as a lead act and all. But the thing that I REALLY don't want is for One Dance to surpass Uptown Funk as the longest-running #1 song of the decade, or even worse, break One Sweet Day's record of 16 weeks. I beg for that not to happen.
DeleteIt doesn't help that the song isn't available on YouTube at all, save for his Saturday Night Live performance. If Drake cared enough, you'd think he would allow the song on YouTube... But from what I've heard, the video has recently been filmed. Thankfully, from what I've heard, sales and airplay are falling, so hopefully we won't have to worry about any record-breaking.

The Hot 45 Chart is out!
ReplyDeleteScott...I suggest you take a look at it.
DeleteBut nice post!
Delete...I don't usually check out these things like "T40", "Top 45" or "Hot 45" or what have you, but the fact that you're suggesting me look at it gives me the feeling that Me Too is on it somewhere.
Delete*checks Hot 45 chart* Me Too at #7, Selena, P!nk, other stuff... Oh? That #1 makes me quite happy to see :D Now I see why you said that, haha!
But yeah, I'm hoping it'll make Hit-Bound when we get that inevitable 5+-exit week.
