New Entrants
~ Earlier this year, we had Kamikaze by MØ on this countdown, which I said was a definite contender for the Bottom 5 Songs of 2016. Well this week's lone new entrant, Kent Jones – Don't Mind, is the second definite contender this year. I don't get what's so good about this song. The production is extremely lazy (like all rap songs nowadays). The dude's voice is annoying as well. And no, adding in words in different languages, which he probably got from Google Translate, does not help make this song any better than a piece of trash. I must be in the bizarro world if people actually think this shit is good. Now because of this people often times think I hate all rap and that is most certainly not true. Rap was at one of its highest points when we had artists like Eminem, B.o.B, Fort Minor, etc. But unfortunately, rap has gone downhill ever since and it's sad to see that songs like this one and Desiigner – Panda are what are representing this genre of music at this time. Looking at the chart success of both Don't Mind and Panda, it's embarrassing. Oh well. I think I've done enough ranting (for now). Overall, it's safe to say that Don't Mind is the new worst song of the year and I really hope it has weak chart success. Really saddening that this is the song to replace Love Yourself. But please keep in mind that this is all my opinion.
Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:
- Flo Rida/Jason Derulo – Hello Friday
- Adele – Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
- Magic! – Red Dress
- AJR – I'm Not Famous
- Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
- The 1975 – The Sound
- Symon – Say
- Lukas Graham – Mama Said
- Disturbed – The Sound of Silence
- Jordan Fisher – All About Us
- Jacob Whitesides – Lovesick
- Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance
- Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj – No Broken Hearts
- Ben Rector – Brand New
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Alesso/Nico & Vinz – I Wanna Know
2. Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance
3. Bebe Rexha/Nicki Minaj – No Broken Hearts
4. Jordan Fisher – All About Us
5. Disturbed – The Sound of Silence
Don't Blurb
~ The Chainsmokers/Daya – Don't Let Me Down made a very unexpected leap to #2 this week. I have no problem with this song hitting #1, and I won't really care if it doesn't. It's one of those songs where I honestly don't really care either way.
~ However, I still want P!nk – Just Like Fire to hit #1. That'd be really nice.
~ Looks like All Time Low – Missing You and Ruth B. – Lost Boy made their comebacks.
~ Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias – Messin' Around is pretty much leaving every chart at this point. I am losing interest in this song, so I don't really care too much about its short tenure.
~ Justin Bieber – Love Yourself left rather sooner than I expected. Honestly, who knows when Justin Bieber will have another song on this countdown because they apparently decided to skip right over Company. I'm hoping there can be another single from Purpose soon.
~ Timeflies – Once In A While is really doing nothing on this countdown. I often times forget it's still here likely because of its lack of doing anything noticeable on this countdown.
~ Charlie Puth/Selena Gomez – We Don't Talk Anymore jumped into the Top 20 this week, which is really nice to see.
~ Meanwhile, Kill Em With Kindness dropped to #27, which is also nice to see although I'm sure it'll be jumping again in no time. This song is rather boring and very annoying in my opinion.
~ 5 Seconds Of Summer – Jet Black Heart stayed here much longer than I thought it would. It's definitely the most successful single from Sounds Good Feels Good on this countdown. I was getting sick of it, but I've been enjoying it again lately. It's very possibly my favorite song from 5 Seconds Of Summer with how long it has stuck with me.
~ Gwen Stefani – Make Me Like You is getting more annoying after each listen. I actually want this song to leave at this point.
~ OneRepublic – Wherever I Go made a nice jump up to #24 this week. It's too good of a song to let go of too early and I'm sure Hits 1 knows that with their love for OneRepublic.
~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Zara Larsson/MNEK – Never Forget You can hold at #1 for a second week in a row!
Throwback Pick Of The Week: Maroon 5 – Makes Me Wonder
Most Missed Countdown Song: Zedd/Jon Bellion – Beautiful Now
#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Jon Bellion/Travis Mendes – Guillotine
Favorite Countdown Song This Week One Year Ago: David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
My Top 5 Picks

2. P!nk – Just Like Fire
3. Charlie Puth/Selena Gomez – We Don't Talk Anymore
4. Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills
5. The Chainsmokers/Daya – Don't Let Me Down
My Bottom 5 Picks
1. Kent Jones – Don't Mind
2. Rihanna/Drake – Work
3. Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself
4. Selena Gomez – Kill Em With Kindness
5. Twenty One Pilots – Ride
Yay! Another person who likes I Wanna Know.
ReplyDeleteGuys, I have the whole countdown with blurbs and everything and the font is all in different sizes any suggestions?

DeleteOh well, Say is now tied with Love Robbery from 2014 for quickest growing out of from Adrian, with 2 weeks. Sad to see it in red since it's my favorite song at the moment.

DeleteHits 1 is so behind.
Delete7 exit week = next week.

I hate it.
DeleteYES 7 EXIT WEEK NEXT WEEK
DeleteAnd Say has to debut!
SERIOUSLY.
Orange for me: #5
DeletePurple for me: #39
And I like every song in Adrian's bottom 5.
By 7 exits next week, we need to have that many exits. It may not happen but I want it to happen.

DeleteThen they should let Stressed Out leave to make things even more interesting.

DeleteI don't think so. Maybe it should be the biggest drop!

DeleteA top 20 exit
A top 20 debut
A 7 exit week
A 25+ spot biggest jump
A 25+ spot biggest drop

Adrian, what are your thoughts on Demi Lovato's new song called Body Say?
ReplyDeleteI only saw a bit of her performance of that song. It sounded pretty good from what I heard.
DeleteWow music sucks these days countdown has a tom of crap songs back in my heyday songs were good
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
DeleteOh, you have returned! Welcome! Are you blogging the countdown today?
DeleteNope I just don't have time anymore i will view and comment but not post you can view my old posts for nostalgia
ReplyDeleteWell now that I'm here maybe i can say my opinions on some songs
ReplyDeleteMe too is both good and bad
Can't stop the feeling is definitly one of this year's best songs
Work is still a piece of work
Lost Boy is extremely boring you sure this isn't a baby's lullaby?
I am open to suggestions for things you want me to review
What's your opinion on Don't Mind?
DeleteReview entire Hit-Bound please.
DeleteDon't mind is one of the worst songs I have ever heard its like something a satire artist would put out one of the worst songs ever but my dad actually likes it??? Unbelievable
DeleteTHANK YOU!!!
DeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOO MIKEY DON'T DO THIS TO ME!!!!!!
DeleteYou disappoint me Mikey.
DeleteDon't Mind is awful!
DeleteDon't Mind is awesome!
DeleteAlso Adrian what's your opinion on DJ Khaled/Drake - For Free?
So is Me Too but you love that. If you can love a god-awful attempt for Meghan to try Wiggle meets K-Pop go right ahead.
DeleteDon't Mind is straight up trash. I thoroughly agree with Mikey that it sounds like something satirical.
DeleteFor Free is pretty bad too imo. But it's not really one of the worst songs of the year like Don't Mind.
What about Drake/Rihanna - Too Good? I think you would like that one
DeleteToo Good is actually pretty good because it's Drake in more of the pop/R&B type sound that I like from him.
DeleteI like both of those songs a lot
DeleteI've also been enjoying Drake's new single Controlla
DeleteKinda surprised you didn't talk about One Dance being on Hit-Bound, what with it being #1 on Billboard for seven weeks now. I take it you're saving that talk for when it inevitably makes the countdown? (I'd post more but I'm on my phone right now)
ReplyDeleteI don't care about Chase because I also have autism and don't lie...
ReplyDeleteNow do you want to hear an interesting fact about me?

DeleteI have to say it; no matter how bad this song is, I just don't hate it. If Me Too can be Adrian's guilty pleasure, then Don't Mind is my guilty pleasure of 2016.
ReplyDeleteOur lone exit was one that I'm glad left. It was more boring than Thinking Out Loud, which is ironic considering Ed Sheeran actually co-wrote this.
I am so glad that Can't Stop The Feeling is #1 again.
Wow, 7 Years took a big drop, that I didn't expect. Well it doesn't matter to me anymore, because I'm over the song. And no . I don't hate it, just shut up about it.
Why did Missing you have to jump 10+ spots?
I'm glad that Hits 1 didn't get rid of Never Forget You.
Am I still the only one who loves Stressed Out? Not even the overplay can kill this song for me. I've listened to this song 10 times a day, and I still love it.
I don't think One Dance is going to debut on the countdown. If it does though, It'll do a Hotline Bling and flop after 3 weeks.
Can we please get I Wanna Know and Send My Love onto the countdown soon?
Finally, I don't have to put Work From Home as the worst song in the top 20 anymore. Its still the worst song on the countdown.
Top 5:
1. Can't Stop The Feeling
2. Stressed Out
3. Cheap Thrills
4. Just Like Fire
5. Don't Mind
Bottom 5:
1. Work From Home
2. History
3. We Don't Talk Anymore
4. Messin' Around
5. Lost Boy
Throwback Picks:
Like A Prayer- Madonna
Whenever Wherever- Shakira
Eye Of The Tiger- Survivor
Hollaback Girl- Gwen Stefani
Apologize- OneRepublic/Timbaland (AKA the best music producer)
Most Missed Songs:
Hello- Adele
Something In The Way You Move- Ellie Goulding
Uptown Funk!- Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars
Lean On- Major Lazer/DJ Snake
Budapest- George Ezra
On the note of big guilty pleasure hits, I'm not sure what mine for the year is... White Iverson perhaps? Post Malone saying "saucin, saucin, saucin on you" sounds too funny for me to hate.
DeleteI'm with Spectrum Pulse when it comes to Post Malone. (And I think Adrian hates it as well)

DeleteHistory is the most bland and generic song since Fight Song was a thing. We Don't Talk Anymore is boring, and lazy writing.

DeleteNow you know how I used to feel a couple of months ago.
DeleteMaybe if I comment from my iPad instead of my phone it'll stop
DeleteARRGGHH IT DOESN'T WORK
DeleteMiles, can you listen to Say and tell me your opinion?
DeleteNo. I don't care about Say.
DeleteAdrian if you don't like For Free I don't think you would like Rihanna - Needed Me either
ReplyDeleteNeeded Me is decent. It's one of the decent tracks on that mess of an album. But it's still a bit of a disappointment compared to her older stuff.
DeleteIt's pretty good IMO.
DeleteWhat's weird is that Spotify has it in their Rap Caviar playlist, which made me think it was more of a rap song and you may not like it
DeleteI have a whole ton of other songs I could talk and ask about, but you can look at my latest post to see my personal chart and all the songs I've been enjoying
DeleteNeeded Me is really different but actually amazing.
DeleteYeah, songs blasting air horns as instrumentation are wonderful pieces of misic.
ReplyDelete/sarcasm
Me Too?
DeleteNot sarcastic for me.
Delete-.
The French Horn in She Knows is so obnoxious.
DeleteI'll give you my rates on all the songs you were talking about above:
ReplyDeleteDon't Mind: 9.5-10 (Originally a 10)
Ride 9.25-10 (Originally a 10)
Me Too 9-10
Lost Boy 8.5-10
History 7-10
Can't Stop The Feeling 6-10 (Originally an 8)
Needed Me 10-10
For Free 9.25-10
Too Good 9.5-10
Work 5.75-10 (Originally a 10)
Controlla 8.75-10
And can you guys tell me if my WC post font size looks fixed I fixed it but idk what it looks like to you guys.
Um, hello...
ReplyDeleteHASN'T ANYONE NOTICED THAT ONE DANCE IS ON HITS 1 NOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Also I think Don't Mind is decent, but definitely better than Panda.
DeleteRight now Figure Me Out is the worst song on the countdown, IMO.
Figure Me Out? Huh...
Delete-.
Ah, I'll take Panda and its incompetence; I can't be the only one here who finds that funny-bad.
DeleteI'm sorry, but…worse than Work (From Home), Me Too, Lost Boy, and Hands to Myself? o_O
I noticed One Dance on Hits 1 and I'm happy even though they're just a little late with it.

(Adrian's version)
That's pretty much what I think of it lol.
DeleteI read somewhere that Don't Mind is pretty much all freestyle. Kent Jones made the beat and hook one day and freestyles the verses the next.
DeleteMost Missed Countdown Song (I don't remember if it was even on the countdown) Disclosure / Lorde - Magnets
ReplyDeleteIt was.
Delete-.
Yeah I loved that song
DeleteI also enjoyed that one a lot. Too bad it didn't do as good as it deserved to ;-;
DeleteI really loved it at first. By the end of February or beginning of March I just liked it. It's still good though.
Delete-.
I heard Mama Said on my way back home yesterday and it was awful.
ReplyDeleteAre Graham, MH1WCB, and I the only people who like that song?

I'm afriad so.

What's bad about it?

ReplyDeleteTop 10 guilty pleasure songs:
ReplyDelete10. My Humps- The Black Eyed Peas
9. The Fox- Ylvis
8. Don't Mind- Kent Jones
7. Wrecking Ball- Miley Cyrus
6. Run It- Chris Brown
5. Right Round- Flo Rida
4. Barbie Girl- Aqua
3. Hollaback Girl- Gwen Stefani
2. Gangnam Style- Psy
1. Friday- Rebecca Black
Friday is crap
DeleteGangstam style is amazing
Hollaback is ok
Barbie girl is life
Right round is chill
Run it is chill
Wrecking ball is ok
Don't mind is crap
The fox sucks
My humps also sucks
Why do you think I have all of these as guilty pleasures?
DeleteHollaback Girl and Right Round I always loved. Gangnam Style was a big guilty pleasure of mine as well.
DeleteHollaback Girl has been heavily criticized, and actually has split critics of the song in half.
DeleteRight Round is very controversial, mainly because of the chorus being about oral sex.
Gangnam Style is just so random. I don't know why some people don't like this.
Another guilty pleasure song I have is Physical by Olivia Newtown-John. Just watch the music video and listen to the lyrics in the chorus and you'll see what I mean.
DeleteI think people dislike Gangnam Style for the fact that it's the #1 video on YouTube. And I don't think I'd remember Physical off-hand, but if it's in the Top 10 of Billboard's Greatest of All Time it has to be good o_O
DeletePhysical was the #1 song of 1982, the #1 song of the 1980s, and is the #8 song of all time. The reason I mention it is because the video and the lyrics are very risqué to say the least. But from all the songs I've listened to for the past decade, this is tame compared to the shit we have now.
DeleteLol physical is nice its so chill
DeleteMy milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
DeleteAnd they're like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge
Hotter than a baby in a microwave
DeleteSo, I saw Daya and Shawn Hook in concert today! Shawn Hook was awesome! Daya was absolutely incredible! She is going to be superstar! Shawn did a cover of Chandelier by Sia that was amazing! Daya really stole the show though, Her energy and stage presence was so electrifying! Haha! She is definatly one of my new favorite artists! I would really like to hear more Shawn Hook on the radio as well. He had a ton of really fun songs!
ReplyDeleteDon't mind is so bad that I would probably have to be put in a mental facility if i listened to it for than 2 times and

...That would explain it.
DeleteI thought he skipped the 6/25 countdown out of frustration or something, but I'm kinda glad he didn't get to it because I don't want to think about how negative that one would've been. D:
Countdown's out! ;)

Total Score: 330/500: 2015 was a great year for music!
Dang, that is pretty darn great alright. There are definitely some greats I disagree with there (most notably All About That Bass, Fight Song, Animals, and of course, Bitch Better Have My Money), but I won't question all those opinions because glad to see another that enjoyed this year a lot. You'll see how much different mine looks most likely in a few days.
DeleteI still don't see all the hate toward Fight Song. I would call it the most over-hated song of 2015. I have already heard all the arguments against the song, but I don't care.
DeleteWhy is She Knows at 100 and a 0. That song is is my top 20 for 2015 probably.
DeleteBecause the lyrics make it a strip club anthem, the obnoxious baby noise that is played almost 20 times in the song suggest pedophilia, and that obnoxious French horn.
DeleteI told her, "Shawty, you so right, but you so wrong"
(So wrong, so wrong, so wrong)
She said, "Daddy, I'll be back after this song"
"Then you taking me home" {Yep}
WHY NE-YO, WHY?!?!?!
Miles, please calm down.
DeleteThen shut up!

DeleteWhy's History in red and Me, Myself, & I in pink?
ReplyDeleteYeah, History was blue last week so that feels like it escalated quickly o_O
DeleteI actually still kinda like History.
DeleteSame
DeleteYeah. I now hate it cause it got very old and the fact that it has left every other chart by now. I wish it dropped soon. I don't want it in the top 10 anymore.
DeleteAdrian, please answer my question now.
DeleteMaybe putting History in red was a little extreme. It may go back to blue next week, so don't be surprised if it does. And I'm getting tired of Me, Myself, & I.
DeleteI can't really think I am not autistic.
DeleteThis has nothing to do with the conversation Chase.
