Hits 1 Song Recommendations

Here are some songs I think would be a great addition to the SiriusXM Hits 1 playlist. Enjoy!

  • Afrojack/Wrabel – Ten Feet Tall - This is a great dance song that is on the American Top 40. So it should be here too.

  • Pitbull/John Ryan – Fireball - I know I'm not a huge fan of Mr. Worldwide. But this song is really catchy and his rapping actually fits in.

  • Lady Antebellum – Bartender - A very catchy country song that should get some more recognition.

  • Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora – Black Widow - Rita Ora's part is really catchy and Azalea's part is good too.

  • Daughtry – Battleships - You can't go wrong with Daughtry. This guy can sing!

  • Neon Trees – Text Me In The Morning - This song is catchy like every song from Neon Trees.

  • Alex and Sierra – Scarecrow - I first heard this on The Pulse and I thought it was good.

  • Florida Georgia Line (/Jason Derulo)/Luke Bryan – This Is How We Roll - I don't mind if Hits 1 plays the version with Jason Derulo or the one without him.

  • Jesse McCartney – The Other Guy - I realize Superbad is still on Hit-Bound. But this is a great song that should be the hit after Superbad. A lot of people say it's their favorite song from the album, In Technicolor.

  • Troye Sivan – Happy Little Pill - I've been watching this guy's YouTube channel without any idea that he sings. I started watching his YouTube channel when I stumbled upon his Coming Out video where he told us that he's gay. I found his song Happy Little Pill in his new EP called TRXYE. It's amazing. Take a listen to it. The song is incredible.

  • Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando - It's Enrique Iglesias people! It should debut soon. It's on the AT40. And it's a great song. Well done Enrique and Sean Paul.

  • Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party - I get that this song is slow. But this is a 15 year old* who can really sing. I love the meaning to the song and especially the lyrics. It's a fantastic song that should definitely debut.

~ Thanks for reading guys. Hopefully you enjoyed my input on what should be played on SiriusXM Hits 1. My personal Top 45 Chart is out! Click here to check it out and find out is Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party will hold #1 for a second week in a row.

*He's 15 now. But he'll be turning 16 very soon.

Mid-Week News

Welcome to Mid-Week News. We will begin with my Top 12 favorite music videos. I apologize for not getting this out sooner but my internet was down. But now it's up and running again. So here we go.

12. Rita Ora – I Will Never Let You Down - It's a fun song and video. Not much to describe about it.
Link To Video

11. One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful - This was back then when One Direction was really hot.
Link To Video

10. Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando - This is a fun video in a way.
Link To Video

9. OneRepublic – Love Runs Out - It doesn't really make sense. But it's interesting.
Link To Video

8. Avicii/Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up - I like where this video was going. It starts off with two girls who don't fit in with the people around them. But then they find their people and end up at an Avicii concert.
Link To Video

7. Eminem/Rihanna – The Monster - It's Eminem looking back at his past. You have to love this video.
Link To Video

6. Blake Shelton – Sure Be Cool If You Did - The country artist has done well with this song and video.
Link To Video

5. One Direction – Story Of My Life - One of One Direction's best.
Link To Video

4. Ariana Grande – Problem - I couldn't care less about Ariana Grande. I was just staring at those boys that were the back-up dancers
Link To Video

3. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong - This song and video has such a meaning to it. I just love it.
Link To Video

2. Avicii/Dan Tyminski – Hey Brother - This also has a really good meaning to it.
Link To Video

1. Maroon 5 – Maps - By the end of the video, you'll know what was going on. It starts off going backwards and shows how everything leads up to what we see in the beginning of the video.

~ I used to have a crush on Austin Mahone. But now I'm starting to get a crush on Jesse McCartney. I've listened to his new album, In Technicolor. And it's really good. Here are two pics of Jesse that I found really hot.

~ Now here's what's going on with iTunes at the moment.

Displaying photo.PNG

That's right everyone. Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass is #2, which I am really angry about. #4 is the lowest Magic! – Rude has been in a long time after a long run at #1. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong remains in the Top 10. Now let's check out the music videos.

Displaying photo.PNG

The #1 music video is annoyingly Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass. That music video is completely offensive to people who are naturally skinny. Weird Al Yankovic – Word Crimes is #3. That video is catchy. I don't think Pharrell – Come Get It Bae is a good enough video to be #6 on iTunes. And Happy is still in the Top 10. I'm shocked Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong is #21. That music video is amazing and should be in the Top 10.

~ Now here are the songs on the Weekend Countdown that need to leave because they're bad or old.

  • Cher Lloyd – Sirens
  • Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass
  • Jason Derulo – Talk Dirty
  • AJR – I'm Ready
  • OneRepublic – Counting Stars
  • Justin Timberlake – Not A Bad Thing
  • Bastille – Pompeii
  • Chromeo – Jealous (I Ain't With It)
  • Rixton – Me and My Broken Heart
  • Ed Sheeran – Sing
  • Magic! – Rude

~ And now it's time to announce the song of 2014 based on your votes in the summer polls. The song of 2014 is....................

  • OneRepublic – Love Runs Out

~ Thanks for the votes and that wraps up this week's edition of Mid-Week news. I'm working on my personal Top 45 chart. When it's done, I'll add the link here.

New Entrants
~ An absolutely unwelcome song re-entered the countdown this weekend. So only three new entrants.

~ The Madden Brothers – We Are Done debuted this week. I didn't like this song at first. But after repeated listens to it, it's being thrown into the "okay" category. The chorus is pretty catchy.

~ X Ambassadors/Jamie N Commons – Jungle is a song I wouldn't have expected to debut a Top 45 countdown. But that's not a bad thing (get it? JT?). Jungle is a really good song that I hope has a nice and long tenure on this countdown. It's just really catchy.

~ Last and definitely least, we have Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass. I looked this song up to see how many negative reviews it got. Shockingly, it doesn't have a single negative review (besides the one I wrote). That just makes me really confused. This girl cannot sing! It's not catchy. It's not funny. It's not good! And the fact that people like this piece of crap is terrible. I'm starting to think music like this is hypnotizing people into liking it. Same with AJR – I'm Ready. However, I don't fall for this kinda stuff. I say a lot of songs are bad. But this isn't like any of them. This is already locked onto a spot for the Bottom 5 songs of 2014. This girl has no talent and I'm annoyed it's #5 on iTunes. And the video is #1 in iTunes music videos. We'll see how far this piece of crap gets.

All About Those Blurbs
~ You already know what I'm annoyed about. *cough* #33!

~ I just found out that Sam Smith is gay. Apparently his album, In The Lonely Hour, is about a guy who didn't love him back. It's interesting. And I like when singers are open about their sexuality like Adam Lambert and Tyler Glenn.

~ Bleachers – I Wanna Get Better randomly jumped into the Top 10. This is a good thing. I doubt it'll get much farther though.

~ Also very random, Kongos – Come With Me Now jumped to #2. But I'm not complaining.

~ Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong had a lot of airplay this week. So I'm surprised it didn't even move into the Top 5. It hit #1 on the American Top 40 this week which I'm very happy about.

~ The Summer Set – Lightning In A Bottle jumped from the "okay" category to the "good" category.

~ Hopefully, Imagine Dragons – On Top Of The World and Rixton – Me and My Broken Heart jumped out of the Top 10 for good.

~ Talk about a quick drop for Tiesto/Matthew Koma – Wasted. Another short tenured song for Matthew Koma.

~ Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX – Fancy needs to leave. How is it still one of the most downloaded songs this week?

~ Weird Al Yankovic – Word Crimes is on Hit-Bound. It's a great song that speaks the truth.

~ What a short tenure for one of One Direction's best songs.

~ I thought Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight would never leave.

~ I heard this really really catchy song on Hits and Misses with Pete Wentz called Lolo – Hit and Run. It's weird but it's catchy. But it's not on iTunes! Take a listen to it. Click here for the YouTube video. It's really good.

~ New record for most comments on one post: 85 comments.

~ Sorry guys. Really busy. But today or tomorrow, I promise you my favorite music videos post. Sorry it was so delayed.

My Top 5 Picks
1. X Ambassadors/Jamie N Commons – Jungle
2. Bleachers – I Wanna Get Better
3. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong
4. Sam Smith – Stay With Me
5. Kongos – Come With Me Now

Top 5 Hits 1 Recommendations
1. Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando
2. Lolo – Hit and Run
3. Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party
4. Troye Sivan – Happy Little Pill
5. Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora – Black Widow

My Coming Out Story

Hey guys! This is completely unrelated to the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown. But I've watched and read so many stories of how people came out as gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. So I want to share my coming out story with you guys. I feel like making it in a post is better for me because it's just easier. If you are not interested in this at all, I recommend you stop reading. Only read this if you want to. I'll give my story step-by-step. Then I'll give some tips on coming out in case anyone needs them. Let's begin.

1. When I Realized That I'm Gay.

I don't have a specific date for when I realized that I'm gay. I remember it was some time halfway through eighth grade. During first grade to seventh grade, I never knew what the word "gay" meant. I also knew that boys dating boys and girls dating girls was not normal. But then, at the beginning of eighth grade, my mother explained to me what it meant to be "gay" and that it's completely normal. She told me that if I was gay, she would still love me the same. I then thought, "Oh cool. But I'm straight. So I don't have to worry about that." Eventually, I first heard Macklemore and Ryan Lewis/Mary Lambert – Same Love on the radio. I thought it was a good song. But it wasn't targeted to me. Then came school. For the first half of eight grade, I had a crush on like, two girls. Then halfway through the year, I found this boy cute. I thought, "Okay. That's weird." I then started to think more and more boys were cute. And those girl crushes faded away.

2. When/How I Came To Acceptance.

When I thought, "Oh. These boys are all really cute." I just accepted the fact that I'm gay. And when I look back at how quickly I accepted it, I think of how unbelieveable it was. For a lot of people, it takes almost a year for them to accept themself. I didn't think anything was wrong with me or anything. I did however imagine a straight life for me. I wasn't as happy about being gay back then as I am now. But I was cool with it.

3. On The Edge Of Coming Out.

At the beginning of Freshman year in high school, I wanted a boyfriend because I felt this piece of me was missing. I looked up how to get a boyfriend which is kinda stupid. Most sites said you need to be open about your sexuality and completely out. I didn't want to come out. I wanted to keep this a secret. But I couldn't stand it when my friends kept asking me what girls I thought were hot. Then this one day, my World Cultures class had this field trip to study Latin America and all that stuff. Basically, it was two different classes who had the same teacher during the year. One class was the teacher's 7th period class and the other was her 9th period class. I was in her 7th period class. Then during the walkthrough in the museum, I randomly started talking to this one girl*. I think it was because I needed one of the answers on the worksheet, but I'm not completely sure. We then had started up conversations and stuff. And that was the start of a new friendship. Since we didn't have any classes together, we hung out before and/or after school. After what I think was a month, I decided to come out to her.

*I'm not saying her name because I don't want to embarrass her.

4.  Coming Out To Friends.

One day, in biology class, we had a substitute teacher. So we had to do online work on our Chromebooks. (If you don't already know, a Chromebook is a mini laptop which is basically like any other laptop. We are expected to bring it to school everyday.) So we were all working on our Chromebooks and the substitute wasn't paying attention. So I opened a Google Chat with that girl I was talking about. She was in study hall with her Chromebook open, so she could chat with me. (Google is very fascinating.) So I just told her in the chat, "I'm gay." And she started to freak out. She said something like, "Noooooo pleeasssee teelllling me your kidding." I can't rememeber exactly what she said. But then I asked "Why do you care?" because usually girls don't have a problem with a gay boys unless this reason right here. She told me that she had a crush on me. She didn't take it all too well at first. And it took her quite a while to get over her crush on me. Eventually, she came around and we talk every now and then. The next person I came out to was this guy named Kenny who was my best friend all year. One afternoon, I texted him saying stuff like, "I need to tell you something" and "You'll still be my friend, right?" So I told him. And he was cool with it. He said how everyone is different and he doesn't judge. He is probably the only person who is pretty open about the topic (besides my parents). From there, I started telling more and more friends. They were all cool with it. At least most of them. I told this one guy named Nick who was my friend from the beginning of eighth grade even though he's kinda homophobic. But first, let me say that Nick, Kenny, and I are in this friendship circle. We're all friends with each other and we all have one class together. Anyway, I texted Nick saying that I'm gay. I guess he and Kenny texted after he saw the message and later that day, Kenny texted me saying that Nick thought it was Kenny who sent it. Kenny told him it was me and I guess Nick said he doesn't like gay people. Kenny told him not to hate me though. Though Nick isn't 100% supportive of it, he's still my friend. Eventually, I realized that I'm openly gay and I decided to have my Facebook say "Interested In Men". And my cover photo is a photo of this really cool shirt that says "Sorry Girls. I Suck Dicks." I'll put that photo down below. So I've been more open about my sexuality. Then came the hardest part.

5. Coming Out To Parents.

If your friend doesn't accept you, no problem. Just take them out of your life. You can't do that with your parents. You rely on them to provide you food, clothing, and a roof over your head. The last thing you need is to get kicked out of your house. That's why you shouldn't tell them until you're ready unless you're sure they'll be cool with it. I remember the exact day I came out to my parents. It was February 24, 2014. The reason I remember is because it was the day before my dad's birthday. Here's what happened that day. My mom said that she can pick me up shortly after school that day. While I was still at school, I texted her saying something like "I need to tell you something," and she was like, "Ok. Is it good or bad?" I said, "That depends on how you think of it. I think it's good." My plan was to tell her over text because I couldn't tell her in person. But then she said, "Ok good. Tell me when you get to the car." I was thinking "Great. So much for going according to plan." So I was nervous as I walked to the car. I actually thought about telling her something else instead. But then I told myself, "No. This is my chance and I'm not gonna blow it." So when I got to the car, it took me a few minutes to get out what I wanted to say. I was sweating like crazy and my heart was beating like crazy. I eventually said it. And she was cool with it like I expected. She was the first person I told in person. She gave me a little lecture and said stuff like "If someone doesn't like you, take them out of your life," and "Don't have sex until you're at least 16." At night, while I was watching The Voice, my mom told my dad. He then came into my room and told me that he still loves me and that he wants me to be happy. His side of the family are all Christians. In fact, his parents (my grandparents) work at the Christian church by their house. I'm not sure how they'll take it but I'm not planning on telling them any time soon. My brother also has yet to know that I'm gay. My parents said to wait till he fully understands what it means including sex and that kind of stuff.

So that's my coming out story. Now here are a few coming out tips.

  • Don't Come Out In A Moving Vehicle – I realize that I did this when I came out to my mom. We were in a moving vehicle even though I told myself I wouldn't tell them in a moving vehicle. This could possibly cause a car accident if they burst into tears. Luckily, my mom focused mostly on the road when I told her and not completely on me.

  • Don't Come Out While Drunk – If you come out while you guys are drunk, they most likely will not remember. Then you'll have to come out to them again and no one wants to do that.

  • Tell Them Face-To-Face – I told everyone over text and Facebook. Don't do that. Tell them in person so you can physically see their reaction. If you really don't want to tell them in person, then I guess you can text.

  • Be Prepared For The Excessive Questions – People could possibly start asking you twenty questions. So you wanna be prepared. Even for the annoying questions like "When did you decide to be gay?", "What about a guy/girl turns you on?", and "You never kissed a boy/girl? Then how do you know you're gay?"

  • Don't Throw So Much Info At Your Parents – Let's say you're a boy. Don't tell your parents, "I'm gay and I have a boyfriend." Just telling them you're gay is already a lot of info. Take it slowly. Eventually you can tell them you have a boyfriend. But give them time to take in the fact that you're gay.

Alright guys. That was my coming out story and some coming out tips. Hope you enjoyed. If you need anything, message me on Facebook or send me an e-mail at adrianc0502@yahoo.com. My countdown post is coming out tomorrow along with my favorite music videos. See ya guys.

OneRepublic (1) – Week Of July 19, 2014

On Thursday, I noticed something different with my first page of SiriusXM stations in my car. The first page consists of SiriusXM Hits 1, 20 on 20, The Pulse, and Alt Nation. However, 20 on 20 was replaced with this new station called Venus. I looked this up to see if 20 on 20 moved to another channel or something. Turns out, it's gone for most likely forever. 20 on 20 always played the newest music out there as well as the BBC Radio 1 Top 40 in the UK every Sunday. This new station however, plays older upbeat pop and R&B songs. The very last song to play on 20 on 20 was David Guetta/Rihanna – Who's That Chick?. This new station is not as good as 20 on 20. And though 20 on 20 is no longer on SiriusXM Radio, it will forever be in our hearts. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • MKTO – Classic (#28)
  • Imagine Dragons – Radioactive (#43) [!!!]

Last Week’s #1 Song: 5 Seconds Of Summer – She Looks So Perfect
The Countdown

41. Imagine Dragons – Demons (RE-ENTRY)
40. AJR – I’m Ready (#39) [GO AWAY!!!]
39. Capital Cities – One Minute More (DEBUT)
38. Justin Timberlake – Not A Bad Thing (#42)
37. Sia – Chandelier (#38)

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: John Legend/Tiësto – All Of Me (–20)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: The Summer Set – Lightning In A Bottle (+12)

Looks like I stand corrected about the whole Love Runs Out hitting #1 thing. Well done. You guys proved me wrong.

New Entrants
~ We got an unexpected and unwelcome re-entry from Imagine Dragons – Demons. So only one new entrant.

~ Capital Cities – One Minute More is decent-ish. Definitely not as good as their previous hit Safe and Sound. I doubt they'll hit that height again. For now this song is okay.

American Top 40
~ Ariana Grande/Iggy Azalea – Problem hit #1 on the AT40 this week. Ryan Seacrest quoted, “Iggy Azalea is the first female artist to replace her own song at the top.” I know it’s hard to believe, but that has happened here at the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown. Sometime in 2012, Maroon 5 – One More Night replaced Maroon 5 – Payphone at #1.

~ Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong hit #2 this week. It made this slow and long journey to the Top 2 without dropping a spot. Impressive.

~ MKTO – Classic just entered the Top 10.

~ Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando remains as my favorite song on the AT40.

5 Blurbs Of Summer – She Blurbs So Perfect
~ Ed Sheeran – Sing is #2........

.......

....

Hopefully, this technical error is fixed next week.

~  If The Summer Set – Lightning In A Bottle jumped 10 or less spots, I would’ve gotten the Biggest Jump Of The Week correct as Disclosure/Sam Smith – Latch and Ingrid Michaelson – Girls Chase Boys would’ve tied jumping 11 spots. Congrats to me for predicting those two songs in the correct spots.

~ I’d like to wish a Happy Birthday to Luke Hemmings from 5 Seconds Of Summer as his birthday was on Wednesday. Luke, I don’t know if you’re reading this (I highly doubt it), but if you are, everyone here wishes you a happy late birthday. Hope you enjoyed it and hosting the Weekend Countdown this weekend. You and the rest of the band were really great guest hosts. You didn’t rush through it or anything. I like that. Happy Birthday Luke. (BTW, Luke is hottest member of the band in my opinion.)

~ MKTO – Classic was just about to last a year on the countdown. It could’ve been the first song to last a year that didn’t hit #1.

~ Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando should debut on Hits 1. It’s my #1 recommendation.

~ AJR – I'm Ready is still here. I can't be the only one annoyed by this!

~ I'm shocked that 5 Seconds Of Summer hosted the countdown, yet their song left the #1 spot. That shows how generous they are in not hogging the #1 spot with their own song. Unlike in early 2012 when One Direction made their own song, What Makes You Beautiful, jump to #1 from #13.

~ I heard Weird Al – Word Crimes on the #YouTube15 with Jenna Marbles this weekend. It's a funny parody of Robin Thicke/Pharrell/T.I. – Blurred Lines. It says how people need to learn how to write normally and not use numbers in their writing unless they're seven. You guys no how people write nowadays. They use the most ridiculous abbreviations ever.

~ The Madden Brothers – We Are Done may be debuting the AT40 soon. Which means it'll probably debut here too. I can't be the only one who finds 0% quality in that song.

~ I made some pretty good estimations with my prediction. I predicted Bastille – Pompeii would be at #11. I predicted Rita Ora – I Will Never Let You Down would be #32. I predicted John Legend/Tiesto – All Of Me would be #34. I predicted Jennifer Lopez – First Love would be #43. And then there are the ones I got right on target including Ingrid Michaelson – Girls Chase Boys, Disclosure/Sam Smith – Latch, Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight, Katy Perry – Birthday, Imagine Dragons – Radioactive, 5SOS – Amnesia, and Magic! – Rude.

~ Maroon 5 used to be my favorite band. But ever since I started to get sick of their music, I've been looking for a band who I really enjoy. Then I thought of Big Time Rush. They're a band that makes great music. And they have a hit show which I really enjoy. I watch the show Big Time Rush all the time because it's funny and a lot of times, they perform a new song which I enjoy and end up putting in my music playlist. So those are a few reasons why Big Time Rush could possibly be my fave band.

~ Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary Top 40 Chart this week. That should mean it can hit #1 on the countdown soon. Voters, I need your help. Our mission is to get Am I Wrong to #1. Start voting! "Am I Wrong for thinking that this could possibly be #1?"

~ Those of you who have a Facebook account, feel free to add me on Facebook. Click here to go to my profile.

~ The Wutchuwant Countdown will come out later this week as well as a few of my all-time favorite music videos.

~ Apparently, Jason Rearick's countdown blog has been deleted. Not only that, but his entire Google Account was deleted. I highly doubt he did that himself. But now he cannot comment on here unless he recreates the profile, or he comments as an anonymous user. Either way, if you're reading this Jason, can you please tell us what's going on?

My Top 5 Picks
1. Tiësto/Matthew Koma – Wasted
2. Ingrid Michaelson – Girls Chase Boys
3. 5 Seconds Of Summer – Amnesia
4. OneRepublic – Love Runs Out
5. I don’t know...Fall Out Boy – Alone Together??? Who cares?
