Katy Perry (7) – Week Of November 30, 2013

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Britney Spears was this weekend's guest host. Honestly, this was a terrible week. I have one question. When there is a guest host, do they decide where the songs go? Leave a comment if you have an answer. Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.

#1 Song 1 Year Ago: fun. – Some Nights

Biggest DROP!!!: Fall Out Boy – Alone Together (–22)

Biggest Jump: Paramore – Still Into You (+26)

No new music this week. I know. Sucks.

The fact that Katy Perry is back at #1 makes me wanna scream. And not in the good way.

I could've sworn Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight would've been #1. During Hits 1 airplay, when they have this random singer that introduces themselves and say, “This is your most wutchuwanted song,” most of those were Dance With Me Tonight.

I also thought Midnight Red – Hell Yeah would've debuted due to its huge increase in airplay. I'm supposed to close up opportunities for songs to debut because it is the beginning of December and I have to make my Top 45 Songs Of 2013. But if it debuts next weekend, maybe I can make an exception.

On Thanksgiving morning, I checked the Hits 1 Weekly Schedule to see if the Weekend Countdown will occur. It didn't say anything about the Weekend Countdown. But then I was in my car later listening to P!nk/Nate Ruess – Just Give Me A Reason on The Pulse when I saw @BritneySpears on Hits 1. I checked and found the Weekend Countdown playing.

The fact that Wax – Rosana is in front of Linkin Park/Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes makes me so ANGRY!!! Rosana should've never came in the first place!

Is Robin Thicke/Pharrell/T.I. – Blurred Lines really still here? It is? Ok, that's all I needed to know.

Lana Del Rey/Cedric Gervais – Summertime Sadness in the Bottom 5 is unacceptable. Fix it.

If Katy Perry – Roar stays at #1 for 1 more week, they will have tied with Imagine Dragons – Radioactive. If she holds it for 2 more weeks, she will have tied with Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe. If she holds it for 3 more weeks, she will have officially broken the record.

Who is still voting for Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark? 'Cause I wanna have a little chat with them.*

Harry Styles did a track-by-track of One Direction's new album, Midnight Memories, this past week. I have to say. I am impressed. Well done One Direction.

Fall Out Boy did an excellent job at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performing Alone Together.

Austin Mahone also did a great job performing his new song Banga! Banga!

Why is it that Spyder Harrison never says ft. Steve Aoki when he gets to A Light That Never Comes? It's strange because the electro-DJ says it in Ear Poppin' Music.

Wow. Fall Out Boy – Alone Together made the Biggest DROP!!! Of The Week and it was at #1 last week.

I have a new blog! It is where I pick two songs and you debate which is better. Check it out at www.bettersongdebate.blogspot.com

Now for a mini Hit-Bound review.

- AJR – I'm Ready is on Hit-Bound. If you haven't heard this song before, I recommend you not listen to it unless you want to hear how bad it is. It is an awful kid song with Spongebob's voice for kids who like obnoxious music.

- Haim – The Wire is back on Hit-Bound. No, that doesn't mean it was already on the Weekend Countdown. It left Hit-Bound the same week as Serebro – Mi Mi Mi. And now it's back. It is not good. It is an all girl group who made a displeasing song to me.

- Next we have Bastille – Pompeii. I never liked this song before. But compared to the other songs on Hit-Bound, it's actually pretty good.

Spyder Harrison, please come back and fix what Britney has done!

My Top 5 Picks
1. Linkin Park/Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes
2. John Newman – Love Me Again
3. Armin van Buuren/Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like
4. Lana Del Rey/Cedric Gervais – Summertime Sadness
5. Flo Rida – How I Feel

*I want to discuss why it is back in the Top 10. Or even better. Why it is still in the countdown.

  3. Imagine Dragons – Demons (#6)
  2. Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up (#1)
  1. Fall Out Boy – Alone Together (#4) [1st Week at #1]

Biggest DROP!!!: Wax – Rosana (–20)

Biggest Jump: Pitbull ft. Ke$ha – Timber (+25)

Two new entrants this week. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are back and they collaborated with ScHoolboy Q & Hollis (whoever they are) to produce their worst song so far. Can't Hold Us, Thrift Shop, and even Same Love are all better than White Walls. I already know it is going to have the Biggest Jump Of The Week next week. This song will definitely be part of my Bottom 5 Songs Of 2013.

Next we have Flo Rida – How I Feel. This song is okay. And it is a million times better than Can't Believe It, which was on Hit-Bound at some point. How I Feel is interesting. Though it is not better than Right Round and Wild Ones, it is still one of Flo Rida's good ones.

Good News: Wax – Rosana might be on its way out.

Bad News: Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes may also be on its way out.

Zedd ft. Hayley Williams – Stay The Night is catching on quick. It's already in the Top 10.

Fall Out Boy achieves their second song at #1 for the year. Good Job!

#'s 7 and 8 swapped and #'s 17 and 18 swapped. Weird!

The Wanted – We Own The Night should be nominated for longest time on Hit-Bound.

I remember a time when MKTO – Classic and The 1975 – Chocolate were both in the Top 10. Now they are approximately 30 spots apart from each other.

Wow. In the time Can't Hold Us was with us, Same Love debuted, Thrift Shop left, Same Love left, Same Love re-entered, Same Love left, and White Walls debuted.

Cher Lloyd – I Wish also seems like it's on its way out. I was starting to really like that one.

Why is it that the version of Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy they play on Hits 1 is different than the album version. I like the Hits 1 version better but I can't find it anywhere else.

News For Those One Direction Fans: Midnight Memories will be released in less than one day.

Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes has become one of my favorite songs of all time! I listen to it every day. I never get sick of it. It is just so up beat.

Besides The Wanted – We Own The Night, Sara Bareilles – Brave, Midnight Red – Hell Yeah, and Ellie Goulding – Burn, there is a lot of crap on Hit-Bound. It is extremely displeasing.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes
2. John Newman – Love Me Again
3. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
4. Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like
5. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy

  3. Katy Perry – Roar (#4)
  2. Lorde – Royals (#1)
  1. Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up (#2) [4th Week at #1]

Biggest DROP!!!: Paramore – Still Into You (–27)

Biggest Jump: Zedd ft. Hayley Williams – Stay The Night (+28)

Apparently, the same singer had the Biggest Jump and Biggest DROP!!! of the week.

Welcome back Krewella – Live For The Night. I missed you! And (ugh) welcome back Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert – Same Love. I didn't miss you. Now let's get on to this week's debuts. First we have Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo – Miss Jackson. I have never listened to this band before. But somehow it just works for me. It's interesting. That's all I really have to say about it.

Next we have OneRepublic – Counting Stars. OneRepublic is a cool band that makes cool music. But no OneRepublic song can be any better than Counting Stars. I love when Ryan Tedder sings the “Lately, I've been. I've been losing sleep...” the second time during each chorus. But the point is this is a great song. Finally, we have Pitbull ft. Ke$ha – Timber. This song sounds kind of western-like, which makes it more interesting. Pitbull and Ke$ha are great singers and they make a great combination.

I thought Fall Out Boy – Alone Together would never enter the Top 10. But it did. And not only that. But it entered the Top 5.

I was also waiting for Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight to enter the Top 5.

John Newman – Love Me Again has fallen once again to #31. Somehow I feel like this is the end. But I won't give up hope.

R.I.P.: Avril Lavigne – Rock N Roll - I hope this isn't the end. (sniff) :'(

Since no songs by the same artist are allowed to anywhere close to each other on the countdown, it makes sense that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can't Hold Us is at #33.

Goodbye Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran – Everything Has Changed. You will be missed.

That is a pretty big drop for a song that was at #5 last week. I hope this isn't the end.

Avicii takes over the top spot kicking Lorde to #2. I'm sure this isn't the end of Lorde. She will take over #1 again soon.

My Top 6 Picks
1. John Newman – Love Me Again
2. Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes (This song is highly addicting!)
3. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
4. OneRepublic – Counting Stars
5. Paramore – Still Into You
6. Krewella – Live For The Night

  6. MKTO – Classic (#10)
  5. Paramore – Still Into You (#7)
  4. Katy Perry – Roar (#1)
  3. Imagine Dragons – Demons (#40)
  2. Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up (#2)
  1. Lorde – Royals (#3) [New #1]

Biggest DROP!!!: Avril Lavigne – Rock N Roll (-25)

Biggest Jump: Imagine Dragons – Demons (+37)

We have five new entrants this week. Kicking it off with one of two entrants that were on Hit-Bound.  Zedd ft. Hayley Williams – Stay The Night is interesting and is better than Clarity. It does make me want to get up and dance. I am not really into Hayley's vocals during the verses however. Also very dancy, we have Armin Van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like. This song is interesting. I can relate Armin Van Buuren's music to Calvin Harris' music. They're both pretty similar. This song has appeared a lot on Hits 1 last week during the weekdays.

Also coming from Hit-Bound, we have Serebro – Mi Mi Mi. I hated it at first. I thought it was really stupid. But I slowly got into it. They do say Mi Mi Mi a lot. So I'm pretty sure anyone could guess the title. They just won't know the title only has 3 Mi's.

Next we have Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster. Just by hearing Eminem ft. Rihanna, you should think, “Didn't they make a song before?” And the answer is yes. Everyone should remember Love The Way You Lie from Eminem's album Recovery. Well they teamed up again. This is the least I've heard Eminem swear. This song sounds kind of “pop-ish” rather than rap. Compared to one of Eminem's other songs called Rap God this definitely sounds like pop.

We finally come to Lady Gaga ft. R Kelly – Do What U Want. I find this song annoying. Applause is definitely better. Sometime this week, there will be a Hits 1 Exclusive of Lady Gaga doing a track-by-track of ARTPOP.

Spyder Harrison announced Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes being one of his favorite songs on the countdown. It is a really cool song. I am not a big fan of rock music. But I am most definitely a fan of dance music. Linkin Park teaming up with Steve Aoki was the best decision they have ever made. I love A Light That Never Comes. And guess what. It's in the Top 10.

I think Imagine Dragons – Demons set a new record for biggest jump ever. Going all the way from #40 to the Top 3. Too bad it didn't reach #1. If it did, they would have broken a record for biggest jump to #1.

The fact that Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark doesn't play very much during the week makes it okay with me that it is in the Top 10 once again.

Katy Perry – Unconditionally entering the Top 10 is going to be a big fat “NO”!

Robin Thicke – Give It 2 U leaves lasting only 4 weeks on the countdown.

Avril Lavigne – Rock N Roll at #44 is a big fat “NO”!

There was so much suspense when we got to the Top 3. I was hoping Imagine Dragons – Demons would be #1. But my brother was hoping Lorde – Royals would reach #1. So when Katy Perry finished and Spyder Harrison said Imagine Dragons was next, my brother was happy. At that point, I was hoping Avicii would be at #1. But then the guest DJ said, “Holding at #2, here's Avicii ft. Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up.” So my brother was glad that Lorde – Royals achieved the top spot. At least it's not Katy Perry.

I'm canceling my Hit-Bound review blog again. But I'm starting a new blog where I will blog song lyrics. I will give you more information on that next week.

I'm still accepting votes for your end of the year countdown. Come on guys I have zero votes so far. If you don't know how to vote, go back two posts and look at the last paragraph.

Recently released music this past week
- Avril Lavigne has released her self-titled album. It includes Rock N Roll, Here's To Never Growing Up, and her new single, Let Me Go. I'm working on a review for this album.

- Eminem has released The Marshall Mathers LP 2. It includes Berzerk, Survival, and this week's debut, The Monster. I really enjoy this album. Bravo Eminem.

- The Wanted has released their new album called Word Of Mouth. Which includes lead single, We Own The Night.

Song recommendations for the Weekend Countdown
- Daft Punk ft. Pharrell & Nile Rodgers – Lose Yourself To Dance - That song is very catchy and dancy and should come in to replace Get Lucky.

- Ylvis – The Fox - That song is also very catchy and I would love for it to debut. However, a lot of people say they hate it. So I doubt that will debut the countdown.

- The Wanted – We Own The Night (!!!) - That song has been on Hit-Bound for months now. I am going to get sick of it before it debuts. If it debuts.

- Avril Lavigne ft. Chad Kroeger – Let Me Go - I am addicted to that song!!! I love it. I want it to debut.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
2. John Newman – Love Me Again
3. Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes
4. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy
5. Enrique Iglesias – Heart Attack
(6. One Direction – Story Of My Life)

Biggest DROP!!!: The 1975 – Chocolate (-23)

Biggest Jump: Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love (+28)

How does Spyder Harrison allow Eminem – Berzerk to leave like that? I thought he would protect Berzerk at all costs.

We have only one new entrant this week. I think One Direction has had the most amount of songs on the countdown. But the only song that was ever good by them was What Makes You Beautiful. However, Story Of My Life might be their second best song. It's a nice song with a nice guitar intro. But for real, how many songs has One Direction had on the countdown?

It appears The 1975 – Chocolate fell to #44. I think this might be the end for them.

This was not a very good week. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy falls to #36. Imagine Dragons – Demons falls to #40 on its fourth week. Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark jumps to #11. Avicii leaves #1. Katy Perry reaches #1. Imagine Dragons – Radioactive went down to #9. Wax – Rosana jumps to #18! Now I shall deal with them individually.

Imagine Dragons – Demons probably won't reach the Top 10 anytime soon. (I don't approve this. >:[ )

Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love won't be leaving anytime soon. (And I approve that. :] )

Wake Me Up is a great song. I would love for it to get to #1 again.

Good News: Krewella – Live For The Night has become a lot more interesting.
Bad News: It fell to #45.

Imagine Dragons – Radioactive looks like it's eager to leave the Top 10. I guess it was never meant to break the record. I guess Carly Rae Jepsen will just hold the record forever. :'(

Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight has held the #8 spot for three weeks in a row.

Fall Out Boy is still technically at #11. Just with a different song.

#31 Alert: Will Labrinth ft. Emeli Sandé – Beneath Your Beautiful leave because of #31? We'll have to wait and see.

It appears Taylor Swift ft. Ed Sheeran – Everything Has Changed has moved down by a lot. I hope this isn't the end.

Now for a mini Hit-Bound review
- Sara Bareilles is on Hit-Bound with Brave. It sounds a lot like Katy Perry – Roar. It is interesting and inspiring and I will enjoy it when it reaches the Weekend Countdown.

- Calvin Harris ft. Ayah Marar – Thinking About You is on Hit-Bound. It is not any better than I Need Your Love. But it is still good and interesting. Ayah Marar has nice vocals so she is great for this song.

- Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo – Miss Jackson is on Hit-Bound. It is the second best song currently on Hit-Bound. I have never really heard Panic! At The Disco before this song. But this song really got me into them.

- The Wanted – We Own The Night remains on Hit-Bound for ANOTHER week.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy
2. Enrique Iglesias – Heart Attack
3. John Newman – Love Me Again
4. Linkin Park ft. Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes
5. MKTO – Classic
