Adele (3) – Week Of November 28, 2015

Hopefully, everyone had a good Thanksgiving. The American Music Awards were on last Sunday. Congrats to all the artists who took home different awards. #1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Hozier – Someone New (–19)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Rudimental/Ed Sheeran – Lay It All On Me (+16)

New Entrants
~ Our lone new entrant comes from returning artist, Rachel Platten, with her second countdown song, Stand By You. I love the chorus on this one. I think her voice sounds really good on this song. Right now, I hope this song has some success. But I can see this becoming the next Fight Song where I get really sick of it. But for now, I'm really enjoying it and I'm glad it finally made it on to the countdown.

Hit-Bound
~ No Hit-Bound list this week. I'll just give my favorite and least favorite song.

Fave Song On Hit-Bound: Tie Between Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime and Jason Derulo/Jennifer Lopez/Matoma – Try Me

Least Fave Song On Hit-Bound: MØ – Kamikaze

'Cause I'm Gonna Blurb By You
~ Countdown logic continues to shine in Little Mix – Black Magic as it jumps to #4, hitting a new peak I don't think anyone saw coming.

~ Halsey – New Americana should not be dropping. Please fix this Hits 1! It's not a good thing if it's below songs like Downtown, Bad Blood, Thinking Out Loud, Want To Want Me, Uma Thurman, etc.

~ I would love to see Panic! At The Disco – Victorious jump above #20. Maybe? No? Okay then...

~ It would be really cool to see Audien/Lady Antebellum – Something Better hit the Top 10. With how much Hits 1 loves the song, I think it's possible even though the song is kind of losing popularity everywhere else.

~ Taylor Swift – Wildest Dreams dropped out of the Top 10 relatively quickly. I'm perfectly fine with this. In fact, let's get to start moving down soon.

~ The big jump from Hozier – Someone New last week clearly didn't last long.

~ By no surprise, Drake – Hotline Bling isn't really getting anywhere. This song is a stupid joke. It needs to leave Top 40 radio.

~ Can we get Ed Sheeran – Photograph to move down already?!?!?!?! Why is it still in the Top 10?!?!?!?!?! And can Thinking Out Loud leave?!?!?!?! It's not that far away from lasting a year on this countdown. Please get it out of here!!!

~ I can't believe people are actually still voting for Want To Want Me. This song is torture to my ears!!!

~ Taylor Swift – Out Of The Woods aired on Pete Wentz's late night show on Hits 1, Hits & Misses. It's rumored that that song will be the next single off 1989. I really hope it is. It's such a good song!

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Will The Weeknd hold at #1 for a second week in a row with The Hills? You'll have to hang on to find out!

~ Most Missed Countdown Song: Glenn Morrison/Islove – Goodbye

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: Justin Bieber – Sorry
1. TIE: Audien/Lady Antebellum – Something Better
3. X Ambassadors – Renegades
4. Rachel Platten – Stand By You
5. Panic! At The Disco – Victorious

2015 American Music Awards Performance Reviews

Hey guys! Basically, I'm going to review each of the performances that took place during the 2015 American Music Awards this past Sunday. Let's get right to the performance reviews!

  • Jennifer Lopez – Waiting For Tonight / Dance Medley

Review: The host of the AMAs kicked off the show with a performance I was divided on. Her performance of Waiting For Tonight really wasn't anything special. If anything, I was kind of impatiently waiting for it to finish. Then she goes into the dance melody full of songs from this year. There were songs like Can't Feel My Face, Where Are Ü Now, Bitch Better Have My Money, Anaconda, Hotline Bling, and many more. It was pretty good at different moments. But it really wasn't something I told all my friends about.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – Hey Everybody!

Review: Although the song is mediocre, these guys did a reasonably well job performing this song. But again, it wasn't anything special. Good performances require good songs. And this one unfortunately does not qualify.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • Selena Gomez – Same Old Love

Review: My mother didn't realize that Selena Gomez swears in this song until they had to mute that part. Similar to 5 Seconds of Summer, the performance was good in terms of how the vocals turned out, but not something I told all my friends about.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • Carrie Underwood – Heartbeat

Review: I really didn't care for this one. It wasn't horrible. But it wasn't good either. So yeah. Not much else to say about this performance.

Overall Grade: 6.5/10

  • Demi Lovato – Confident

Review: What a strong voice this woman has! It's the first really good performance of the night. I just love her voice! Nice job, Ms. Lovato!

Overall Grade: 9 out of 10

  • Meghan Trainor/Charlie Puth – Like I'm Gonna Lose You / Marvin Gaye

Review: Meghan Trainor kicked if off with the boring Like I'm Gonna Lose You. I was bored out of my mind during this part of the performance. I just don't really like her voice. But I have heard worse. That's really the only good thing I can say about the song. Then Charlie Puth joined for Marvin Gaye. Puth really disappointed me with this one. His vocals weren't really that good in this performance. Trainor did a mediocre job at best as always. This performance was kind of a mess. This was definitely something I told my friends about. And I did not say good things. Don't even get me started on the kiss at the end that made me really uncomfortable. And I heard that after that, they're still just friends. No one can be "just friends" with the person whose ass they grabbed.

Overall Grade: 3 out of 10

  • Ariana Grande – Focus

Review: I do not like the way this one started. I was really worried that it would keep up for the whole song. Thank god it didn't. The performance got so much better as soon as she went into the actual song. Everything about the performance worked out really well. When she reaches the high notes, it just sounds amazing. The backup dancers did a really good job. My only concern is that I think her dress was really short. But aside from that, it was an excellent performance.

Overall Grade: 9.8 out of 10 (I can't give it a 10 because of that beginning.)

  • One Direction – Perfect

Review: These boys don't sound the best live. I was kind of disappointed by it. I love the song. But the performance is what I'm on the fence about. It didn't wow me as much as I hoped.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • Gwen Stefani – Used To Love You

Review: This was a sweet performance full of emotions. But it really wasn't any more than that. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. But I wasn't over-the-top in love with it. Now it was definitely one of the better performances throughout the entire night. It at least had my attention, unlike Carrie Underwood and another certain performance we'll get to later. But it was kind of something I forgot about. Overall, it was good. Just not great.

Overall Grade: 8 out of 10

  • Nick Jonas – Chains / Levels / Jealous

Review: I would say this performance was pretty good. I didn't necessarily love it. But I liked it. I liked the choir that came out when Jonas began singing Jealous. But overall, it wasn't something I was trying to look up and watch again.

Overall Grade: 8.5 out of 10

  • Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime

Review: 7 years since this band hit that stage. Coldplay has always been a favorite of mine. Their new single, Adventure Of A Lifetime, did not disappoint me. Their performance of the song was pretty fun to watch. Chris Martin's vocals were pretty on point. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Overall Grade: 9 out of 10

  • Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance

Review: I'm really tired of this song. Can it just be removed from radio completely? The performance wasn't horrible, but I would've been fine without it. Overall, kind of uninteresting, but not terrible.

Overall Grade: 6 out of 10

  • The Weeknd – The Hills

Review: This performance left me speechless. This song itself is amazing. But the performance was excellent. The Weeknd's voice sounded amazing. All of the fire around the him made the scenery look really cool. And everything about this performance was spot on! I absolutely loved this one. Definitely one of my favorites and definitely one of the performances I was talking to my friends about and I only had good things to say about it.

Overall Grade: 10 out of 10

  • Luke Bryan/Karen Fairchild – Home Alone Tonight

Review: I found this one to be kind of a show filler. That doesn't mean it's bad, but I really didn't care for it. But there have been worse performances within this one night.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • Macklemore & Ryan Lewis/Leon Bridges – Kevin

Review: I thought this one was really good. The rapping was on point and I thought Leon Bridges did a nice job in the chorus. I wasn't in love with it. But it was still pretty good.

Overall Grade: 8.5 out of 10

  • Alanis Morissette/Demi Lovato – You Oughta Know

Review: I was fascinated by this one. But it almost another show filler in my opinion. I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. I don't have too much of an opinion on it.

Overall Grade: 7 out of 10

  • Celine Dion – Hymne à l'amour (Tribute To Paris Victims)

Review: I'm gonna get so much hate for this one. While I do realize this performance was a tribute to those who lost their lives in the Paris terrorist attacks, it was really boring. I didn't understand a single word and I didn't really think Celine Dion's singing was as amazing as a lot of people said. As much as you guys probably disagree with me, I'm going to have to categorize it as a throwaway performance.

Overall Grade: 5 out of 10*

*Please note that if this wasn't a tribute to the Paris victims, it would've gotten a lower grade.

  • Pentatonix – Music of Star Wars

Review: As someone who has been a pretty big fan of Star Wars, I definitely enjoyed this one. I could've listened to this one for a little while longer. This is what I like to hear from Pentatonix. It was definitely far from boring. Overall, I really liked this one.

Overall Grade: 8.5 out of 10

  • Justin Bieber – What Do You Mean? / Where Are Ü Now / Sorry

Review: This one started kind of slow with What Do You Mean?. I liked it. But I wasn't that impressed until Justin got into Where Are Ü Now, where he showed off some pretty sick dance moves. His vocals in those two songs were pretty good. Then he did what made my heart melt. He performed Sorry........in the rain. I really enjoyed that part of the performance. Watching Justin perform with water pouring on him was amazing. This was another one of my favorite performances of the night and I was definitely talking to my friends about it and how amazing it was.

Overall Grade: 10 out of 10

Top 5 Performances
5. Demi Lovato – Confident
4. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime
3. Ariana Grande – Focus
2. The Weeknd – The Hills
1. Justin Bieber – What Do You Mean? / Where Are Ü Now / Sorry

Bottom 5 Performances

4. Carrie Underwood – Heartbeat
3. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance
2. Celine Dion – Tribute To Paris Victims

So yeah. Those were my reviews on each performance from the 2015 American Music Awards. Did you agree with my reviews? Did you disagree? Let me know in the comment section down below. That'll continue all the way until we reach the Top 2, where you'll then vote for which song you think should win the entire competition. #1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Taylor Swift – Shake It Off

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Adam Lambert – Ghost Town (–16)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Hozier – Someone New (+13)

New Entrants
~ Starting with my least favorite debut, we have Sam Hunt with House Party. I enjoyed this song several months ago. It doesn't have any popularity nowadays. His current hit is Break Up In A Small Town. but apparently Hits 1 had to pick up House Party first months after it was popular.

~ Next we have Ariana Grande returning with the 2.0 version of Problem. This one is called Focus. In Problem, we had Big Sean whispering, "I got one less problem without you." In Focus, we have a Mystikal-sounding man shouting, "Focus on me! F-f-focus on me!" I think the chorus in Focus is really annoying. But everything else in the song is done really well.

~ Halsey is back! She had a song that a short countdown appearance last year called Ghost. It was okay, I guess. Her debut this week surpasses Ghost by a lot! New Americana is such a catchy song. I love her voice in the song. I always find myself singing that chorus and it's always stuck in my head! I really hope this song does well. Well done, Halsey.

~ Rudimental are back as well. Their last appearance was back in 2012 with the UK hit Feel The Love featuring John Newman, a song that I really enjoyed as repetitive as it was. Feel The Love peaked at #10 on this countdown, so it did pretty well. Lay It All On Me is a really nice beat to it and Ed Sheeran's vocals sound better than they do in his solo music. I would love to see this song do well.

~ Next, we have Flo Rida – My House. This could very possibly be my favorite song so far from the My House EP. It's definitely not his best song ever. But I've been really enjoying it lately. That chorus tho. I want to see this song do well (like the previous two songs). It's so catchy!

~ Finally, we have the best song on the countdown. The song that I turned the volume way up to every time it came on in my car. That song is Justin Bieber – Sorry. It's so fucking catchy!!! I absolutely love the chorus and everything about this song. It's definitely my favorite song from Justin's new album, Purpose. If this song can do better than What Do You Mean? (on this countdown at least), that would be amazing!

Hit-Bound
~ I only saw 14 songs on Hit-Bound. So my guess is that DNCE – Cake By The Ocean is the 15th song on Hit-Bound.

~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Charlie Puth – One Call Away
  • Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime
  • MØ – Kamikaze
  • The Vamps – Wake Up
  • Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello – I Know What You Did Last Summer
  • Tove Lo – Moments
  • Conrad Sewell – Hold Me Up
  • Adele – When We Were Young
  • Rachel Platten – Stand By You
  • Gwen Stefani – Used To Love You
  • Jacob Whitesides – Secrets
  • The Weeknd – In The Night
  • Adam Lambert – Another Lonely Night
  • Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – S.O.B.
  • DNCE – Cake By The Ocean (?)

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Rachel Platten – Stand By You
2. Adam Lambert – Another Lonely Night
3. Conrad Sewell – Hold Me Up
4. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime
5. Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello – I Know What You Did Last Summer

We'll Have A Blurb Party
A song cannot simply hit #1 on its third week on the countdown and immediately leave that spot. So it was definitely expected that Hello would hold at #1.

~ Thankfully, Nick Jonas – Levels is starting to fade away. I'm getting tired of that one.

~ Little Mix – Black Magic has pretty much lost all popularity on other charts and here it is hitting new peaks. Don't you just love how much logic this countdown lacks?

~ I'm really close to putting 5 Seconds Of Summer – Hey Everybody! in red. It's really mediocre and bland. Can we just have it leave?

~ Omg! Twenty One Pilots – Tear In My Heart is in the Bottom 5! Let's have it leave soon!!!

~ I want to scream at the fact that Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me is still here. Whoever is voting for this song needs to stop!

~ Can Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Downtown out of here??? I'm pretty sure it aired less during the week than Cool For The Summer.

~ Although I don't hate the song, I would like to see What Do You Mean? leave like, next week.

~ Andy Grammer – Good To Be Alive continuing to jump does nothing but increase my urge to put the song in red. I don't really want to do that. So if it can not go any higher, than would be great.

~ Honestly, I have no clue at this point when Shy Carter – Bring It Back will leave. We're just going to have to keep going along with these jumps and drops between the mid-20's and mid-30's.

~ The Hit 45 Chart is out! Find out if Renegades has the capability to be the #1 song for a seventh week in a row and a ninth time overall! Plus, we have debuts from Robert DeLong, Chris Brown, Halsey, Shaggy, and more!

~ Best Song On The YouTube15: Prince Royce/Jennifer Lopez/Pitbull – Back It Up

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Shaggy/Pitbull/Gene Noble – Only Love

~ Most Missed Song: Justin Bieber/Nicki Minaj – Beauty and a Beat

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: Justin Bieber – Sorry
1. TIE: Audien/Lady Antebellum – Something Better
3. X Ambassadors – Renegades
4. Flo Rida – My House
5. Fall Out Boy/Demi Lovato – Irresistible

New Entrants
~ This is our third consecutive week in which we have one re-entry and one debut. With that being said, as we have a re-entry from Nico & Vinz – That's How You Know, we have only one debut this week.

~ I never thought of Drake as a bad artist, he's had some pretty solid music in the past. His debut this week, Hotline Bling, is nothing more than a piece of garbage. Some of his other songs like Hold On, We're Going Home and Started From The Bottom we're actually pretty good. Hotline Bling, however, lacks good lyrical content, a good beat, good "rapping" skills (if you can even call that rapping), and everything that makes a good rap song. My ears don't appreciate this excuse of a song to be debuting here since I always thought of Hits 1 to be that station that never plays shitty rap music. Knowing Hits 1, I don't see this song doing very well on this countdown. I really hope I'm right.

Hotline Blurb
~ As Adele hits #1 with Hello on its third week on the countdown by going #14 –> #3 –> #1, it now holds the record for the quickest path to #1, originally held by Katy Perry. I definitely don't see this record breaking anytime soon.

~ The drop from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Downtown was definitely expected due to its lack of airplay. However, I did not necessarily expect Hula Hoop to drop as well. I actually find this song decent, but I won't be devastated if it's gone within the next few weeks.

~ Ed Sheeran – Photograph needs to start moving down already. I really don't want to hate this song again. I'm not going to be happy if it becomes the next Thinking Out Loud.

~ Speaking of Thinking Out Loud, it needs to leave already. It's pretty much long gone from every single chart expect this one. Who is still voting for this song?!?!

~ This countdown did not have a single good song all the way until Victorious at #28.

~ Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand is making an annoying little comeback. Can we get rid of this song. It has done its time already. I'm really tired of it since it was never that good of a song in the first place.

~ Walk The Moon – Different Colors is seriously not doing very well. Whether or not it'll make a comeback, I don't know. But I don't really mind either way.

~ Can we get Taylor Swift – Bad Blood off of this countdown already?! I'm so sick of it and it has grown to be very annoying.

~ I'm really upset that Hits 1 got rid of The Weeknd – The Hills so soon. I really like it and it's doing so well on every other hit music chart. Yet they still keep the mediocre Can't Feel My Face. Ugh.

~ I was listening to the YouTube15 last night and I LOVE Jenna Marbles! She's so funny! Then again, I laugh at pretty much everything. But I think she's really funny even though my dad, who was with me at the time, thinks she's really annoying. But whatever, we all have our opinions. She's definitely one of my favorite Hits 1 DJ's, right behind Spyder Harrison and The Morning Mash Up.

~ This weekend, One Direction are premiering their entire new album, Made In The A.M., as well as discussing each track and their backgrounds. So if anyone wants to listen. You can find out one of the time slots in Hits 1's schedule when that show will be airing.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if X Ambassadors – Renegades can hold at #1 for a sixth week in a row and an eighth time overall.

~ Earlier this week, I posted my 500,000 pageview special on the Hit 45 Chart site. I'll put a link below so you can check that out. Basically, I counted down my 45 favorite songs of all-time. There were a ton of songs to choose from and a lot of songs unfortunately did make the cut. Here's a list of the songs that were really close, but didn't make it into the Top 45:

  • Adam Lambert – If I Had You
  • Bruno Mars – Grenade
  • Coldplay – Violet Hill

  • Usher/Pitbull – DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love

So yeah. These songs came close, but I only had 45 slots and these songs unfortunately didn't make it. They're all really good though. I absolutely love all of these songs. But if you haven't checked out the special, the link is down below.

~ Does anyone remember Cobra Starship? They had the smash hit, You Make Me Feel..., back in late 2011. The band broke up earlier this week. Although I wasn't necessarily in love with them, some of their songs we're really catchy. So yeah. Just putting that out there.

~ Most Missed Song: Cobra Starship – #1Nite (One Night)

My Top 5 Picks
1. X Ambassadors – Renegades
2. Audien/Lady Antebellum – Something Better
3. Adele – Hello
4. Panic! At The Disco – Victorious

Shawn Mendes (3) – Week Of November 7, 2015

There's news that The Voice coaches, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, are currently dating. They've both recently been divorced from their ex-spouses, so it looks like they already have something in common. New Entrants
~ We got a re-entry this week from Echosmith – Let's Love. So only one new entrant for the second consecutive week.

~ Our one new entrant comes from newcomer, Audien, featuring the returning country group, Lady Antebellum. It's an interesting collab, since Audien brought a country group into an EDM track. But I absolutely love how it turned out. Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley's voices have always sounded really good together, and they still do. Something Better is a perfect example of a catchy song with a cool beat and a nice duo of voices that sound awesome together. I hope to see this song do well on the charts because frankly, it deserves recognition.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Conrad Sewell – Hold Me Up
  • Ariana Grande – Focus
  • Nico & Vinz/Bebe Rexha – That's How You Know
  • MØ – Kamikaze
  • Flo Rida – My House
  • Tove Lo – Moments
  • DNCE – Cake By The Ocean
  • Rachel Platten – Stand By You
  • Sam Hunt – House Party
  • Drake – Hotline Bling
  • Rudimental/Ed Sheeran – Lay It All On Me
  • Charlie Puth – One Call Away
  • Justin Bieber – Sorry
  • Jacob Whitesides – Secrets
  • ZZ Ward – Love 3X

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Rudimental/Ed Sheeran – Lay It All On Me
2. Flo Rida – My House
3. Justin Bieber – Sorry
4. Ariana Grande – Focus
5. Conrad Sewell – Hold Me Up

Let's Blurb While We're Young
~ Adele – Hello is at #3 on its second week on the countdown. It has a good shot at hitting #1 on its third week, which will make it the shortest number of weeks for a song to obtain the #1 spot. That's probably what will end up happening.

~ Although Hello made that quick jump to #3, Elle King – Ex's & Oh's rose to #2 this week, which is a lot higher than I thought this song could go. It's possible that this song can hit #1, but I would say it's unlikely to happen. But hey, this is Hits 1 were talking about.

~ Hozier – Someone New and Maroon 5 – Feelings took some pretty quick drops. They're both losing popularity, so I'm expecting them both to be gone in a couple of weeks, if not next week.

~ Pentatonix – Can't Sleep Love jumping to #14 is ridiculous on every level. Please get this piece of mediocre trash out of here!!!

~ Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Downtown took a surprising 13-spot tumble to #20 this week. Although I'm shocked, I'm very happy about it.

~ Panic! At The Disco – Victorious needs to rise higher! This song is my jam!!! I need it to be higher on this countdown!

~ Hailee Steinfeld – Love Myself took the expected drop after the ridiculous jump last week.

~ Hits 1 doesn't seem to understand how popular and successful of a track The Weeknd – The Hills is. It's been #1 in a bunch of different charts and can't even reach the Top 10 here, very similar to Earned It from earlier this year.

~ Adam Lambert – Ghost Town back in the Top 20? I definitely allow it.

~ Ed Sheeran – Photograph and Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance need to leave the Top 10. I'm really sick of these songs and I don't know who could possibly still be voting for them.

~ Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand jumping to #27 this week is unbelievable.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Go find out if Renegades will hold #1 for a fifth week in a row and seventh week overall!

~ Although I love all the comments that appear in my posts, I am setting down a new commenting rule. When you comment, please refrain from having like 100 spaces in your comments. It makes it harder and takes longer to scroll down, especially when these posts rack up over 300 comments. It's also kind of annoying. So please don't do that. Anyone who chooses to ignore this and do it anyway will have their comment deleted because frankly, it's irritating at times. So yeah. I just wanted to put that out there. This is your warning. Although, I'm not requiring you to do this next thing, I will appreciate it if you show some maturity in your comments by not having your caps lock on the entire time. By that, I mean have some lowercase letters and not have your comments in all caps. I will begin doing this things as well so I don't look like a hypocrite. But some maturity in the comment section would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

~ This Week's Most Missed Song: Tinie Tempah/Eric Turner – Written In The Stars
