Wiz Khalifa (2) – Week Of May 30, 2015

After 13 weeks of our #1 song changing, we finally have a #1 song holding. I have to say, this was a hell of a week. Especially for a shorter week this week for airplay since Monday was occupied for the Memorial Day edition of the Weekend Countdown. Also, I have 8 days left of school. New Entrants
~ This week one artist had two songs debuting the countdown. It is non other than DJ Snake. If you flashback to last year, you'd remember that Turn Down For What failed to last longer than one week. Now he's got two new songs. Let's see how long both of them last. First we have Major Lazer/DJ Snake/MO – Lean On. I thought at first, this song had a lazy production. But I've grown into it. It's actually kind of catchy. So yeah. I think of Major Lazer to be an extremely lazy producer. But this song is an exception. I'm also enjoying MO's vocals.

~ Next we have DJ Snake again with You Know You Like It featuring AlunaGeorge. This is definitely a super catchy song. Although the breakbeat sounds kind of repetitive throughout the song, I'm enjoying quite a bit. One of the reasons is AlunaGeorge's vocals.

~ Charlie Puth debuted this week with Meghan Trainor. The song Marvin Gaye is a pretty catchy song. I'm really enjoying Puth's vocals. I've definitely heard worse from Trainor, so that's pretty good. This song is starting to slowly rise up the iTunes charts. Let's see how long it'll stay with us.

~ Bea Miller – Fire N Gold finally debuted the countdown! The loud beat that hits you in the chorus is something I cannot get over. I really like this song. It's definitely better than Young Blood and I hope it stays longer than that song did. "Baby we were born with Fire N Gold in our eyes. Eyes."

~ One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go sounds like a typical One Direction song (disregarding it debuting all the way at #15). Like all their songs, I'll enjoy it for quite a while, then I'll get sick of it. But for now, I'm enjoying it.

~ "Give it to me, I'm Worth It!" This is my second favorite debut this week! It is hands-down Fifth Harmony's best! I'm still annoyed Hits 1 removed Kid Ink. But I'm still enjoying this solo version. It does sound a lot like Jason Derulo – Talk Dirty, but better! That's right peeps! I said it. Worth It sounds better than Talk Dirty! So that's that.

~ Now for the best debut! It is "F.U.N, fun" from Mr. Worldwide and the talented Chris Brown. It is a fact that Chris Brown can sing really well. It's just that his music doesn't show it. This is the kind of song his voice fits in really well, which is probably the main reason I'm enjoying this tune. Pitbull's part is good too. But he sounds like he does in all his other songs. The only thing differentiating all these Pitbull songs from one another is the featured artist. I want success from this song!

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list. I haven't done one in a while.

  • Twenty One Pilots – Tear In My Heart
  • MKTO – Bad Girls
  • Rachel Platten – Fight Song
  • Jack & Jack – Groove
  • Omi – Cheerleader
  • Ed Sheeran – Photograph
  • Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry
  • Los 5 – Manana
  • Shawn Mendes – Stitches
  • Just Seconds Apart – Unbelievable
  • Sam Smith – Like I Can
  • Years & Years – King
  • Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire
  • Becky G – Lovin' So Hard
  • The Mowgli's – I'm Good

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Sam Smith – Like I Can
2. Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire
3. MKTO – Bad Girls
4. Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry
5. Rachel Platten – Fight Song

Blurb It To Me, I'm Worth It
~ This is its second week on the countdown and Maroon 5 – This Summer's Gonna Hurt is already in the Top 10.

~ Tove Lo – Talking Body is in the Top 5! I don't think it'll get any higher.

~ During the past week, I've been really enjoying All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give. I had that song on repeat earlier this week.

~ Ryn Weaver – OctaHate and Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love both lasted only 3 weeks on the countdown. Short, but sweet. You both will probably be forgotten soon. Just being honest here.

~ Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk and Maroon 5 – Sugar both finally dropped out of the Top 10. Now let's work on getting Thinking Out Loud out of this countdown as soon as possible.

~ Words cannot describe how annoying Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman is. Every time that song comes on the radio, I change the station.

~ Thanks to Thinking Out Loud rising to #3, Sheppard – Geronimo is no longer the worst song on the countdown. But it does come in a very close second. I do often get sick of alternative songs, but none can compare to how sick I've gotten of Geronimo.

~ I don't see Magic! – No Way No staying with us for much longer.

~ Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out has been with us for quite a while now. I'm impressed by this.

~ D. Guetta/N. Minaj/Afrojack/B. Rexha – Hey Mama is now at #11! I want to see this hit Top 10. This song could possibly be my summer jam of 2015! Every time this comes on in my car, I turn the volume way up and jam out to it.

~ Let's just take a moment of silence to honor Hozier – Take Me To Church and its service for this countdown. Thank you. You will never be forgotten (at least by me).

~ Throwback Pick Of The Week: The Wanted – We Own The Night

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young

~ YouTube Pick This Week: Calvin Harris/Taylor Swift – We Belong Outside (Combination of Outside and You Belong With Me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ejP3o3PyPM

My Top 5 Picks
1. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama
2. Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun
3. Fifth Harmony – Worth It
4. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
5. Bea Miller – Fire N Gold

Wiz Khalifa (1) – Week Of May 23, 2015

That was kind of quick. It only took this song 6 weeks to hit #1 here. That's relatively quick. Now the real question is, "Will it stay at #1? If so, how long?" Aside from that, this is Charlie Puth's first #1 song. I'm not sure about Wiz Khalifa. Maroon 5 – Payphone hit #1 for three weeks but Hits 1 removed Khalifa from that song so I don't think it counts. Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.

  • Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (#31) [12 Weeks At #1]
  • Tori Kelly – Nobody Love (#38)
  • Eden XO – The Weekend (#40)
  • Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody (#42)

21. Maroon 5 – This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A MotherF**ker (DEBUT)
20. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack/Bebe Rexha – Hey Mama (#23)
19. Echosmith – Bright (#14)
18. All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give (#12)
17. Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You (#22)
16. Sheppard – Geronimo (#41)
15. AJR – Infinity (#20)
14. Flo Rida/Sage The Gemini/Lookas – GDFR (#13)

  9. Maroon 5 – Sugar (#4) [2 Weeks At #1]
  8. Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me (#9)
  7. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good (#6)
  6. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (#7) [4 Weeks At #1]
  5. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (#8) [3 Weeks At #1]

  3. Taylor Swift – Style (#5) [1 Week At #1]
  2. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance (#2) [1 Week At #1]
  1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again (#3) [1st Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: The Weeknd – Earned It (–23)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Sheppard – Geronimo (+25)

New Entrants
~ With the re-entry from Ella Henderson – Ghost at #43, we have three new entrants this week.

~ First up we have our first country song in a long time from Sam Hunt. Take Your Time is a cool song that I've been enjoying quite a bit recently. I really wonder how far this country will get on this countdown.

~ Maroon 5 is back yet again with the summer jam, This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A MotherF**ker. It's not as good as Maps and Animals, which are definitely two of Maroon 5's best songs. But it's definitely better than Sugar. As of right now, I'm enjoying this new tune.

~ I'm a little annoyed that Hits 1 doesn't play the Kendrick Lamar version of Taylor Swift – Bad Blood, which is the better and more popular version after the music video premiere during the BBMAs last Sunday. It's safe to say this is the song I listened to the most during the week. I love this song so much! This music video is amazing! I love everything about this song!

'Cause Baby Now We Got Bad Blurbs, Hey!
~ Both the Biggest Jump and Biggest DROP!!!... are unacceptable. This needs to be fixed.

~ Shake It Off left sooner than I expected it to. But apparently Hits 1 has a rule that there can be no more than 3 songs by one artist on the countdown.

~ Yaaaassss! David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama made in into the Top 20! Let's shoot for Top 10!!!

~ Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance is officially old. Let's start moving down to the bottom of the countdown, shall we?

~ Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life is still here. If it can get out of here, that would be nice.

~ Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up made a nice drop to #36. Please leave soon. You have become extremely annoying.

~ I forgot Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out was on the countdown.

~ It's about time Nobody Love and The Weekend exited the countdown.

~ After several listens, I have officially grown into Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love.

~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You could possibly make Top 10. Maybe even Top 5. It just debuted on AT40 this week as well.

~ Speaking of AT40, they have some good Breakout/On The Verge tracks this week. Here are the three that really stood out to me:

  • Adam Lambert – Ghost Town
  • Dillon Francis/DJ Snake – Get Low
  • Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young

I really like all three of those tracks. I would love if they could kind of make their way to the Hits 1 playlist.

~ Calvin Harris/Haim – Pray To God debuted on AT40 this week. I hope to see this song on Hits 1 very soon.

~ Hit 45 Chart is out! Find out if Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again will hold #1 for a second time in a row and a sixth time overall: http://hit45chart.blogspot.com/2015/05/hit-45-chart-week-of-may-23-2015.html

~ Best Song On Hit-Bound: Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun

My Top 5 Picks
1. Taylor Swift – Bad Blood
2. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
3. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama
4. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
5. Tove Lo – Talking Body

2015 Billboard Music Awards Review

What’s up guys? Last night on ABC, the 2015 Billboard Music Awards took place. I have to say, what a hell of a night! I was not disappointed by it! It was fun to watch and jam out to some of my favorite songs. I very much enjoyed it! There were some things that will be talked about for quite a while. But here is my review. So basically how this is gonna work is I’m gonna review each performance as well as listing the awards along with the winners. So here we go.

The awards were hosted by rapper Ludacris as well as John Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen. Ludacris was alright, but I definitely could’ve lived with someone other than Chrissy Teigen. I personally found her hosting quite annoying and her comments were kind of stupid. But that’s just me.

Taylor Swift won quite a few awards during the show. But did anyone notice the PDA between her and boyfriend Calvin Harris every time she won an award? Don’t they just look so cute together?

As usual, people overdid it with their outfits. And by that I mean all the ladies, especially Jennifer Lopez, who was nearly naked. Nothing new. She always overdoes her outfits. But anyway, on to the performances!

Performance Reviews: (Each one gets a ranking from 1 to 10)

  • Opening: The premiere of the music video for Taylor Swift/Kendrick Lamar – Bad Blood
Comments: I LOVE this song! I love anything she releases! The music video was good, but I just love the song! But I’m here to rank the music video and overall the music video was an 8 out of 10. But the song gets a 10 out of 10! And Kendrick Lamar actually doesn’t suck! Here’s the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcIy9NiNbmo

  • Van Halen – Panama
Comments: As you should probably know, I don’t like rock music. So Van Halen’s performance wasn’t necessarily good. But it’s also not the worst. Overall, a 2 out of 10.

  • Fall Out Boy/Wiz Khalifa – Uma Thurman
Comments: I don’t like this song. So of course that affects what I think of the performance. This song is probably gonna start blowing up worldwide and I really don’t want that. Wiz Khalifa joins in on this performance and he’s actually the reason this performance isn’t a 1 out of 10. Overall, this performance is a 3 out of 10.

  • Nick Jonas – Jealous
Comments: That hottie Nick Jonas had the first good performance of the night! Loved his performance of Jealous, especially with the added guitar solo! Overall, a 9 out of 10!

  • Meghan Trainor/John Legend – Like I’m Gonna Lose You
Comments: I think this performance was okay. Not much to it really. I mean it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t good either. John Legend kind of saved it from being bad. So overall, a 6 out of 10.

  • Mariah Carey – Vision Of Love / Infinity
Comments: I have never liked Mariah Carey. Never have, never will. I was definitely not a fan of this performance. I’m just not a fan of her voice. Overall, a 1 out of 10. Definitely one of the worst performances.

  • Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth/Lindsey Stirling – See You Again
Comments: One word. BEAUTIFUL!!!! I cried towards the end of this performance. As usual Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth did incredible! Then they bring in Lindsey Stirling who does a fantastic job on the violin and just makes it so much better! I managed to hold in my tears up until the point where they started showing the video where Paul Walker leaves! Then I couldn’t handle it anymore. Hands down the best performance of the night! That just made me love the song even more now! A definite 10 out of 10! But on a more silly note, did anyone notice that Wiz Khalifa was barefoot on stage? I’m not judging because to be honest I would actually do the same.

  • Hozier – Take Me To Church
Comments: LOVE this song!!!! Hozier did a beyond excellent job with this performance! He never disappoints me with his performances! I loved this performance! Overall, a 10 out of 10!

  • Little Big Town/Faith Hill – Girl Crush
Comments: I liked this performance. Overall, it’s a sweet song and I like it! Not one of the best performances, but it was good! Overall, an 8 out of 10.

  • Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun
Comments: This is like my new jam on repeat! Mr. Worldwide did not disappoint with this performance! Chris Brown did a great job too! As of right now, I’m loving this song. Overall, a 9 out of 10!

  • Ed Sheeran – Bloodstream
Comments: Thank the lord he did not perform Thinking Out Loud! This performance was good I guess. It was better than a couple of the other performances. Overall, a 7 out of 10.

  • Britney Spears/Iggy Azalea – Pretty Girls
Comments: This was a fun performance to watch. Obviously not the best, but it was pretty good. This is another song I’m having fun with at the moment along with Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun. But it was a good performance! Overall, an 8 out of 10.

  • Nicki Minaj/David Guetta – The Night Is Still Young / Hey Mama
Comments: Queen Nicki slays yet another performance!!! The Night Is Still Young is going to become one of my new jams! It’s super catchy!!! Then David Guetta comes out for a performance of Hey Mama and I LOVED it!!! I swear Nicki Minaj is the queen! I definitely jammed out to this performance along with my dad, who loves Nicki Minaj. This is a definite 10 out of 10!

  • Tori Kelly – Nobody Love
Comments: She performed this acoustically and I’m not a huge fan of that. This performance was really just okay. There was nothing that special to it. Just another performance. Overall, a 5 out of 10.

  • Simple Minds – Don’t You (Forget About Me)
Comments: Since I haven’t seen The Breakfast Club and I wasn’t around 30 years ago when this song was popular, I didn’t care too much for this performance. It was good. Don’t get me wrong. But it wasn’t as good as other stuff I saw that night. Overall, a 6.5/7 out of 10.

  • Kelly Clarkson – Invincible
Comments: I’m so happy she didn’t perform Heartbeat Song. This new song is pretty good. I was afraid I wouldn’t like this performance. But it was actually pretty good. Overall, a 7 out of 10.

  • Imagine Dragons – Stand By Me
Comments: I didn’t see what was so special about this performance. In my reality, it was just another performance. I’m sure all the adults enjoyed it though. Overall, a 4 out of 10.

  • Kanye West – All Day / Black Skinhead
Comments: It all started with people booing Kendall and Kylie Jenner when they were announcing Kanye West. Then the madness begins. There are so many pyrotechnics going off with fire and yellowish white smoke everywhere so you couldn’t see a thing. He was constantly getting bleeped out for swearing all throughout the song. So we didn’t hear like, 60% of the song. I know it’s that one performance people will be talking about for a while. Overall, a 1 out of 10.
