That was kind of quick. It only took this song 6 weeks to hit #1 here. That's relatively quick. Now the real question is, "Will it stay at #1? If so, how long?" Aside from that, this is Charlie Puth's first #1 song. I'm not sure about Wiz Khalifa. Maroon 5 – Payphone hit #1 for three weeks but Hits 1 removed Khalifa from that song so I don't think it counts. Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.
- Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (#31) [12 Weeks At #1]
- Tori Kelly – Nobody Love (#38)
- Eden XO – The Weekend (#40)
- Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody (#42)

New Entrants
~ With the re-entry from Ella Henderson – Ghost at #43, we have three new entrants this week.
~ First up we have our first country song in a long time from Sam Hunt. Take Your Time is a cool song that I've been enjoying quite a bit recently. I really wonder how far this country will get on this countdown.
~ Maroon 5 is back yet again with the summer jam, This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A MotherF**ker. It's not as good as Maps and Animals, which are definitely two of Maroon 5's best songs. But it's definitely better than Sugar. As of right now, I'm enjoying this new tune.
~ I'm a little annoyed that Hits 1 doesn't play the Kendrick Lamar version of Taylor Swift – Bad Blood, which is the better and more popular version after the music video premiere during the BBMAs last Sunday. It's safe to say this is the song I listened to the most during the week. I love this song so much! This music video is amazing! I love everything about this song!
'Cause Baby Now We Got Bad Blurbs, Hey!
~ Both the Biggest Jump and Biggest DROP!!!... are unacceptable. This needs to be fixed.
~ Shake It Off left sooner than I expected it to. But apparently Hits 1 has a rule that there can be no more than 3 songs by one artist on the countdown.
~ Yaaaassss! David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama made in into the Top 20! Let's shoot for Top 10!!!
~ Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance is officially old. Let's start moving down to the bottom of the countdown, shall we?
~ Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life is still here. If it can get out of here, that would be nice.
~ Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up made a nice drop to #36. Please leave soon. You have become extremely annoying.
~ I forgot Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out was on the countdown.
~ It's about time Nobody Love and The Weekend exited the countdown.
~ After several listens, I have officially grown into Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love.
~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You could possibly make Top 10. Maybe even Top 5. It just debuted on AT40 this week as well.
~ Speaking of AT40, they have some good Breakout/On The Verge tracks this week. Here are the three that really stood out to me:
Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: The Weeknd – Earned It (–23)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Sheppard – Geronimo (+25)

- Adam Lambert – Ghost Town
- Dillon Francis/DJ Snake – Get Low
- Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young
I really like all three of those tracks. I would love if they could kind of make their way to the Hits 1 playlist.
~ Calvin Harris/Haim – Pray To God debuted on AT40 this week. I hope to see this song on Hits 1 very soon.

Delete15. Ryan Cabrera - House on Fire (Re-Entry)
DeleteAccording to Hits 1's Twitter, it went back on Hitbound this weekend. They tweet out to the artists that have songs entering Hitbound, and that included Ryan Cabrera this week. Now we know House on Fire is song #15. :)
Thanks for your help
DeleteWhy is house n fire on Hitbound when it doesn't air on hits 1. This song debuted on morning mash up last October?
Deleteadrian, would you prefer sugar, thinking out loud, or uptown funk? oslo
ReplyDeleteIn other words, if you were locked inside a darkened room for an hour, Adrian, what song would you rather have playing on repeat? Maroon 5 - Sugar, Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud, or Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk?
DeleteUgh. I guess I have to pick Sugar. I cannot listen to Thinking Out Loud or Uptown Funk anymore!!!!

Why does hits 1 have rules if people vote for the song?
ReplyDeleteThey probably don't want to show bias towards any artist on the countdown. And I think that's a good policy. But you can tell some artists who are Hits 1's favorites... (i.e. Fall Out Boi, Maroon 5-technically 6, T-Swizzle, etc.)
DeleteWhat I want to know is how Adrian and Jack got their profile pictures.

How the hell do you not know who Marvin Gaye is?
DeleteIdk don't judge me
DeleteOk sry but he was really big in the 60s and such
DeleteAnd he died a day before his birthday
DeleteCorrect
DeleteYeah we're all young here, so we don't know what was popular in the 60's. And I don't really care either because that was the past.
DeleteThen why is Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor singing about him? I'm guessing they knew who he was.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteMarvin Gaye was a soul singer in the 60's and 70's who had a hit song entitled "Let's Get It On," hence the lyric: "Let's Marvin Gaye and get it on."
DeleteI know. I'm a nerd. :|

Delete-Remy
Never really had it, so I can't say anything.
DeleteYeah, you'll probably get it when you're, like, 16 or 17, maybe 18, idk. I had to get mine done early, because of a "problem tooth" they had to pull as well.
DeleteAhem! Why are we even talking about this? Idk.
Never mind.

ReplyDeleteWell, it's a way to add onto the theme of the video. It's similar to 5 Seconds of Summer - She Looks So Perfect, if you ask me.
DeleteYeah, that video for Marvin Gaye………is interesting.
Mikey Rossy, do you still like GDFR?

ReplyDeleteThe Hot 45 Chart is out! See if Wiz and Charlie hang on for a second time in a row and a fourth time overall, or if someone like David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack/Bebe Rexha or Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi can take the lead.

ReplyDeleteI had a dream last night…that on the Weekend Countdown:
ReplyDelete1. Alesso/Roy English - Cool debuted at #41.
2. Sheppard - Geronimo had the Biggest DROP!!!…of the Week, down 14 to #30.
3. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth - See You Again stayed at #1 for a second week, breaking the 13-week streak of changing #1's.
4. Ed Sheeran - Photograph debuted, and so might've Adam Lambert - Ghost Town.
But worst of all (at least in my opinion)……
5. Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You may not have had the Biggest Jump of the Week, but it jumped 15 to #2.
I really, really, really, really, really, really don't want that song to hit #1.
