Maroon 5 (2) – Week Of May 2, 2015

Wow Hits 1. Just wow. What a perfect weekend to have a bad countdown - my birthday weekend. Just.....why Hits 1? Sugar most definitely did not deserve more than one week at #1. To be honest, it didn't even deserve one week at #1. Ugh whatever. No songs leaving the countdown this weekend. Another reason why this countdown wasn't good.

Last Week's #1 Song: Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
The Countdown
45. Eden XO – The Weekend (#42)
44. OneRepublic – I Lived (#45)
43. Tori Kelly – Nobody Love (#36)
42. Sheppard – Geronimo (#43)
41. LunchMoney Lewis – Bills (#38)
40. Sam Smith – I'm Not The Only One (#41)
39. Life Of Dillon – Overload (#44)
38. Ella Henderson – Ghost (#32)
37. Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (#40)
36. Fall Out Boy – Centuries (#37)
35. Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It (#33)
34. Hozier – Take Me To Church (#35)
33. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack/Bebe Rexha – Hey Mama (#31)
32. Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life (#39)
31. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out (#23)
30. Nick Jonas – Jealous (#34)
29. Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside (#17)
28. One Direction – Night Changes (#28)
27. Katy Tiz – Whistle (While You Work It) (#27)
26. Cody Simpson – New Problems (#30)
25. Zedd/Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know (#19)
24. All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give (#24)
23. Ariana Grande – One Last Time (#14)
22. George Ezra – Budapest (#20)
21. R5 – Let's Not Be Alone Tonight (#18)
20. The Weeknd – Earned It (#25)
19. Echosmith – Bright (#11)
18. Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody (#29)
17. AJR – Infinity (#22)
16. Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me (#21)
15. Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down (#16)
14. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again (#15)
13. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#12)
12. Flo Rida/Sage The Gemini/Lookas – GDFR (#13)
11. Nick Jonas – Chains (#8)
10. Tove Lo – Talking Body (#9)
  9. Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up (#10)
  8. Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman (#26)
  7. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good (#6)
  6. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (#5)
  5. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (#7)
  4. Taylor Swift – Style (#3)
  3. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance (#4)
  2. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do (#1)
  1. Maroon 5 – Sugar (#2) [2nd Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside (–12)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman (+18)

Shut Up and Blurb With Me
~ God dammit Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman. This big rise back into the Top 10 is another reason this countdown was bad.

~ Tori Kelly – Nobody Love and LunchMoney Lewis – Bills seem like their countdown tenures will be coming to an end. Lance Warren claims that the latter still has some life in it. At this point, I'm not so sure about that.

~ I love how Hits 1 tried shortening the artist name for Hey Mama to fit Bebe Rexha's name. It ended up looking like:

D. Guetta/N. Minaj/Afrojack/Bebe Rex

So yeah even after shortening Guetta's and Minaj's names, they still couldn't fit Bebe Rexha. Points for trying Hits 1. Points for trying.

~ Speaking of Hey Mama, it's like #7 on iTunes. So why #33 here? Hits 1 is good at underranking the good ones like they did with Earned It for a while.

~ I don't see Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It staying with us for that much longer.

~ Eden XO – The Weekend is officially the 2.0 version of MisterWives – Reflections from earlier this year. The song itself is annoying, but the fact that it won't leave makes it even more annoying.

~ "Hey. Lay Me Down was blue last week and red two weeks ago! Now it's green!?"
Yes it is. But really because Hits 1 plays the John Legend version. I have to say, the John Legend version is better than the solo version. I love how these two soul singers are harmonizing together. It just sounds really good with the addition of John Legend. So I thank Hits 1 for playing the John Legend version of the song.

~ Shoo OneRepublic – I Lived! Shoo!!! SCRAM!!! Get outta here! You don't belong here! Your popularity no longer exists!

My Top 5 Picks
1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
2. The Weeknd – Earned It
3. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out
4. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama
5. Flo Rida – GDFR

Lunchboy- Bills (that nicknames sucks :))))

    Tori Klly- nobody Love (definitely!)

Hey Mama (I'm not listing the features)

    Life Of Dillon- Overload

Sheppard- Geronimo (this is #25 on Itunes!)

That's it! Okay! We'll he's my early #1 prediction for next week:

    Drumroll please......

    ... (Plays music).....maroon 5- Animals
    Jk! Here's my real one

Walk The Moon- Shut Up And Dance

    Bye!

    1. Oh yeah. With no spins so far, Nobody Love, Bills, and Geronimo will for sure bounce back from the bottom of the countdown.

Not so sure about that Lance. :P

    2. That would have been funny, though, for a song like Blame or Animals or Am I Wrong to just randomly re-enter at #1 this weekend. Right, Adrian?

    3. Ok toriKelly won't leave this week.
      Geronimo may?
      Bills won't leave.

  14. Three things:
    I. Okay, here's my official spiel on The Weeknd - Earned It:

He seems like he's trying waaaaaaaay too hard to be sexy throughout the song. I mean, the strings, the lyrics, the vocalization: it's practically 89.621% of the song. And for me…he's failing badly.

II. Here's my spiel on Sam Smith(/John Legend) - Lay Me Down:

I never said the duet version was bad. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of Sam and John harmonizing. It's great and honestly pretty epic. But it's just missing the strings from the solo version. And the strings to me add a whole level of emotion to the song. If the duet version had the strings, I'd honestly like it a lot more. I also love the way Sam sings the second verse in the solo version. Now both versions are pretty good, but when putting them beside each other, in my opinion, the solo version is the victor.

III. How many of you saw or went to the link I put at the end of the review?
In case you missed it, here it is:
