#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Niall Horan – Slow Hands (1)
Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Cardi B – I Like It (–20)
Biggest Jump Of The Week: Weezer – Africa (+11)
New Entrants
~ This week, we have the return of DJ Khaled along with other familiar faces on the track No Brainer. This is basically I'm The One copied and pasted. There's nothing new or original here. It's just DJ Khaled with some underwhelming production and unnecessary shouting. Quavo sounds like typical Quavo. Nothing too interesting there. I like the contributions from Bieber and Chance, but they're still not that great. So yeah. I don't love this song. I know Khaled is capable of more after Wild Thoughts from last year, which was amazing and my #9 favorite song of 2017. But No Brainer is just boring to say the very least.

~ Here is the Hit-Bound list.
- Clean Bandit/Demi Lovato – Solo
- Walk The Moon – Kamikaze
- Zedd/Elley Duhé – Happy Now
- Anne-Marie – 2002
- Marshmello/Bastille – Happier
- Bryce Vine – Drew Barrymore
- Jason Derulo and David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Willy William – Goodbye (DEBUT)
- Sabrina Carpenter – Almost Love
- The Vamps – Just My Type
- AJR – Burn The House Down
- Calvin Harris/Sam Smith – Promises
- NF – Lie
- LSD – Thunderclouds
- Bazzi/Camila Cabello – Beautiful
- The Struts/Kesha – Body Talks (DEBUT)
~ First we have four familiar faces collaborating on the song Goodbye. I think everyone did a nice job with the vocals here. The production is not the best, but it's good. Overall, it's a pretty good song. Though it's nothing too memorable. More on it if it manages to debut on the countdown.
~ Next we have The Struts with Kesha on the track Body Talks. I'll say it right off the bat. THIS SONG IS AMAZING! It is an absolute jam! I love the whole vibe of it. It's so enjoyable and so fun. Luke Spiller and Kesha sound great together. Everything about this song works. I really hope we can see this on the countdown soon.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. TIE: The Struts/Kesha – Body Talks
1. TIE: Clean Bandit/Demi Lovato – Solo
3. NF – Lie
4. Sabrina Carpenter – Almost Love
5. Walk The Moon – Kamikaze
Summer Throwbacks
~ For the Labor Day edition of the countdown, Hits 1 decided to play some summer throwback hits in between songs. Here is the list.

Summer Throwbacks
~ For the Labor Day edition of the countdown, Hits 1 decided to play some summer throwback hits in between songs. Here is the list.
- Katy Perry – Teenage Dream
- Taylor Swift – You Belong With Me
- Ke$ha – Your Love Is My Drug
- Pitbull/Ne-Yo/Afrojack/Nayer – Give Me Everything
- Florida Georgia Line – Cruise
- Flo Rida/Sia – Wild Ones
- Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe
- Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass
- One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful
- Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills
- Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road
- Robin Thicke/Pharrell/T.I. – Blurred Lines
- Katy Perry – Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
- Eminem/Rihanna – Love The Way You Lie
- Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me
- Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber – Despacito
- LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
- Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen – Good Time
- Bruno Mars – The Lazy Song
~ The throwback choices were pretty good for the most part. We only have two songs from last year, which is good. And we didn't pick songs like See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, which is not a summer jam. But still, is it necessary to have songs like Cheap Thrills and Want To Want Me? I would prefer a few more older throwbacks than those.
~ We have a few music abominations like All About That Bass, Blurred Lines, Body Like A Back Road, and The Lazy Song. I don't see the appeal with any of them or why they were ever hits to begin with.
~ I do like the inclusion of a few 2012 summer hits like What Makes You Beautiful, Good Time, Wild Ones, and Call Me Maybe. That was definitely one of the best years for summer hits. 2012 definitely has some unforgettable summer jams.
~ I'm very happy with the inclusion of Eminem/Rihanna – Love The Way You Lie again because this is truly one of the best songs I've ever heard in my lifetime. Everything about it works from the way Eminem raps the verses to Rihanna's mesmerizing performance in the chorus. There is absolutely no reason to dislike this song. It is simply incredible. It still gives me chills sometimes. So yeah. I'm glad Hits 1 continues acknowledge it.
Top 5 Summer Throwbacks
1. Eminem/Rihanna – Love The Way You Lie
2. Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen – Good Time
3. Flo Rida/Sia – Wild Ones
4. One Direction – What Makes You Beautiful
5. Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe
No Blurber
~ Khalid/Normani – Love Lies has made its way up into the Top 10, which definitely makes me happy. This is a highlight in Khalid's discography and I'm glad the song is finally getting successful even though it's been out for the majority of the year.
~ Can we please let NOTD/Bea Miller – I Wanna Know drop more? This song is not that good and it has stayed this high up long enough. Seriously, the drop is actually getting pretty annoying.
~ Weezer – Africa made a nice jump on its second week. Hopefully this means it'll do well here. Considering how well it did on Alt Nation, I have a feeling it'll around here for a little while, which is what I want.
~ Dua Lipa – IDGAF really should not be here anymore. This stay is about as unnecessary as Kelly Clarkson – Love So Soft was. IDGAF has lost all steam and was never even that good to begin with. So I think it's about time to say goodbye.
~ The no Spanish edit of Cardi B – I Like It took a massive drop this week. I kind of forgot the song was even here. It stayed longer than I thought it would for a song that's barely two minutes. So I'd be okay with this leaving us soon.
~ As far as the exit goes, we say goodbye to Meghan Trainor – Let You Be Right this week. This is definitely a good thing. Meghan Trainor's new album was pushed back and now it's set to release in January of 2019. So thankfully we'll be able to go without Meghan Trainor for a little while. I'm not looking forward to this new album. I don't get good vibes just by simply looking at it. And if the album is anything like these first two singles, then it will not be a fun listen. But I have a very good feeling it'll flop since people have thankfully lost interest in her for the most part.

Great post. I'm almost done with my Rankdown submission, if I have time I'll get it to you tomorrow. Otherwise I'll get it in next weekend
ReplyDeleteSecond.
ReplyDeleteOf course I have no opinion of Shotgun. How come I never fudging heard that song before.
Didn't you say it was great a couple of weeks ago?
DeleteThere is absolutely no purpose in blocking out swear words with “fudging”. It is unnecessary, childish, and makes you look retarded. This comment section is not made for little children like you, Chase.
DeleteI said I never heard Shotgun yet.
DeleteIs this a joke? NBTS isn’t in orange. Also, what’s wrong with The Lazy Song?
ReplyDeleteI think some people can explain it better than I can. But to put it simply, I don't really like what the song brings. It basically encourages people to be lazy and just sit around. He's not setting an example for people with this.
DeleteI don't hate it as it is kinda catchy, but I don't like it either
DeleteBecause it's lazy for someone who actually tries hard like Bruno. Even his more generic love songs like Just The Way You Are and Grenade are better than this lazy piece of musical trash, at least he put some actual effort, but this has none.

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you loved that song by The Struts. That is what real rock music sounds like.
ReplyDeleteExcept it's forgettable and only here because of Kesha. Watch it flop harder than a brick.
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Childish Gambino - Feels like Summer
ReplyDeleteLove Lies is likely heading for #1 at pop radio.
ReplyDeletewait a minute, i guess i'm wrong?
DeleteForgot to say this, Eminem released a new album Friday called Kamikaze, and the songs The Ringer and Lucky You are the big top 2 songs from the album so far.
ReplyDeleteAnd Lucky You is amazing!!!
Delete*looks at the summer throwbacks list* Okay wtf? These are not summer throwbacks, they're just random pop songs that were popular a couple years ago. Even if some of the songs are really good, what they call that list is so misleading.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that throwback pick (although it isn't really a throwback pick) and most missed pick are both great.
Because Hits1 is a hit music station and they don’t want to go too far back
DeleteAnd as for your rankdown, don't totally count on me getting to it at this point. School has been keeping me pretty busy, so time could be an issue. There's also a Pulse rankdown that's due in three weeks I want to do really bad that I'm kind of prioritizing, so if I finish that early than maybe. But I'm not sure.
DeleteWaffle: I see what you're saying, but popular songs from before 2005 or so are just as much of hits as the songs Hits 1 picked are. No reason to discriminate based on year.
DeleteUmm, all of them were big hits during the Summer of their respective years, you can check the charts yourself if you want. They are throwbacks, and they are Summer hits, you're just so fucking wrong is all.
DeleteSo??? They're Summer hits from different years, they are just as much throwback Summer hits as anything from before 2010 is.
Girls like You is officially #1 on Billboard Hot 100!!!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Lie, Happy Now, and Happier were all on the Wutchuwant survey.
ReplyDeleteFinally, Lie!
DeleteEwww Lie is boring, do we really need Recovery era Eminem Christian rap wannabes?
DeleteSo, here's an interesting (maybe not really) piece of trivia I have: you all remember Noah Cyrus, right? Who had a few songs that showed up here, some of which were crap (in before . calls me slanderous) and some that were kinda interesting. The other day, I watched the Studio Ghibli movie Ponyo, and in the US Disney English adaptation, the titular character was voiced by Noah Cyrus herself. The company is mostly about anime-based animated movies. Just thought I'd share that :P
ReplyDeleteYeah, because no one really cares about Noah Cyrus, she's so annoying.
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Slightly Stoopid/Don Carlos - Stay the Same (Prayer for You)
ReplyDeleteGood news for Miles, Parker, Montavis, and Adrian. Never Be The Same has no spins so far today which means it may finally leave this week.
ReplyDeleteAnd Body Talks might debut because it has several spins.
DeleteAnd Happy Now too.
DeleteBody Talks is not going to debut.
DeleteI just heard Treasure on Hits 1. Nice throwback from 2013.
ReplyDeleteInb4 Parker complains about that not being a throwback

Your predictions are much more likely than Chase's. Not sure on the exits though. All 4 you said plus Wait and Sit Next To Me have no spins since Monday or Tuesday and I Like It only has 1
DeleteSit Next To Me just aired.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteSit Next to Me will not drop. Wait will.
DeleteAnd now Wait has a spin so your exit predictions are probably correct
DeleteNew on Hits 1:
ReplyDeleteSilk City/Dua Lipa - Electricity
And coming tomorrow on Hits 1:
DeleteMKTO - How Can I Forget
Didn't MKTO break up last year?
DeleteI guess they merged back together.
DeleteYep, they're back together.
DeleteThey played Bang Bang, nice throwback from 2014. :)
ReplyDeleteSaw Go Bang at first and got relatively confused.
DeleteDylan, it's Bang Bang, not Go Bang.
DeleteSit Next to Me is about to leave the countdown. Drew Barrymore might debut.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is by the way awesome!!! It will debut the countdown this week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful will debut but Drew Barrymore won’t.
DeleteSorry.
DeleteNEW MUSIC COMING TOMORROW:
ReplyDeleteDua Lipa - Running
Dua Lipa - Want To
MKTO - How Can I Forget
They just played DNCE - Cake By The Ocean. Nice throwback from 2016.
ReplyDeleteExcept it’s not a very good song. Also nobody cares.
DeleteWhat’s wrong with CBTO?
DeleteJoe Jonas sounds pretty bad in the chorus.
DeleteNo he doesn't.
DeleteThey played The Cure which was a nice throwback from 2017.
ReplyDeleteThe Cure is crap!!!
DeleteAlso new on Hits 1:
ReplyDeleteKim Petras - Heart To Break
And more new music on Hits 1:
DeleteTiesto/Dzeko/Post Malone/Preme - Jackie Chan

DeleteNick, that's so nice.
DeleteTreat You Better just played, what a nice throwback we’ve had from 2016.
ReplyDeleteno
Deletenoooooo
nooooooooooooooooo
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
No it's not. I hate it.
Delete"nice"
Delete"treat you better"
No it's not it's shit.
Miles: I agree with you on that one, it's crap.
DeleteWaffle: What did I just tell you before that you need to stop shouting at her and you might hurt her feelings and it's not good.
WAMB10: Treat You Better is not a throwback pick, A throwback pick is from 50', 60', 70', 80's, 90's and 2000's. Not 2016.
Well, Treat You Better is sort of a throwback-ish.
DeleteWell, just got back from the Eagles opener, the Kickoff Game. And while it was really cool watching them unveil the Champions banner, but then came a rematch of the Divisional Playoff last year against the Falcons. To say the least, this round was as literal an example of deja vu as it gets. It wasn't the best played game everything taken into account, there were so many penalties and things got crazy, but we managed to retake the lead with over two minutes left and then the end was, again, a repeat of the playoff game. Five stops at the goal line. FIVE. Unreal.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Montavis is, well, less than pleased right about now. :P
I sure am. Yesterday's game was...well it just didn't go our way in the end. But oh well. We still have 15 more games left. I'm hoping we can right our ship so we can hopefully host this year's Super Bowl in Atlanta.
DeleteIndeed, better hope your team doesn't suffer the Super Bowl host curse :P
DeleteJust watch the NFC Championship be a rematch of this Kickoff Game and then I'll be so conflicted haha.
I love Super Bowl!!!
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Shawn Mendes - Lost in Japan
ReplyDelete5SOS - She Looks So Perfect is a nice heowback from 2014.
ReplyDelete*throwback
DeleteAnd they just played other throwbacks as well.
DeleteWhy does Hits 1 keep playing throwbacks?
DeleteI Know What You Did Last just played on Hits 1. What a nice throwback from 2016. :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOops, I need to apologize to WAMB10. "I'm sorry WAMB10, I shouldn't be mean and that's was rude."
DeleteThrowback is like from the 2000's and 1990's and more.
DeleteFor once, I agree with Chase
DeleteThey played Paris, a nice throwback from 2017.
ReplyDeleteStop
DeleteWaffle: You need to stop telling her what to do. By telling her what to do is mean. You need to apologize to her and say you're sorry. She didn't do anything wrong.
DeleteWAMB10: Paris is not officially a throwback. It is still fairly new.
DeleteChase. All I fucking said was 'stop'. What the actual fuck is wrong with that!?!?!?!? That's not "mean" in any way whatsoever. This is why nobody fucking likes you and why everyone wants you to leave this community.
DeleteWaffle, that's not nice.
DeleteMac Miller reportedly died today.

He was the reason why The Way was Ariana’s worst song TBH, but still, RIP.
DeleteYou are the reason Ariana is overrated.
DeleteAlso Leah, grow the fuck up.
Ariana Grande is not overrated she’s amazing.
DeleteMiles: No, Ariana Grande is not overrated.
DeleteWaffle: I agree.
WAMB10: Rest In Peace. Mac Miller, uhhuu 😥
Leah: You need to stop, because this is not how we act in this situation. I can cry like an adult. You are grown up.
Not yet. I do it at times at this? Remember AVICII?

Boom Clap was a nice throwback from 2014.
ReplyDeleteThis is Mac Miller's new single called "Self Care" since he's not alive anymore. It is really a great song. I loved him so much.
ReplyDeleteYou never talked about him before now.

Panic! At The Disco - Hey Look Ma, I Made It
Surprisingly, Electricity didn't debut, at least not on this airing of Hitbound. Maybe next week or on another airing.
DeleteElectricity will debut the countdown next week.
DeleteHere are this week's exits, guys: (Gap for spoilers)
ReplyDeleteLauv – I Like Me Better
Camila Cabello – Never Be The Same
Charlie Puth featuring Kehlani – Done For Me
Maroon 5 – Wait
I'm sure Adrian will be happy about the first two, and I am too.
And don’t forget me, I’m very happy about I Like Me Better and Never Be the Same.
DeleteGo away, Chase. I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Adrian. -_-
DeleteWant You Back didn’t leave? SMH
DeleteI'm happy about all 4 especially ILMB, NBTS, and Wait
DeleteI’m definitely happy about all 4. I’ve got sick of all of them enough that they turned red.
DeleteBut I can’t go away, I just wanted to ask you a question.
DeleteThe only disappointing exit in that bunch is Done For Me. Really a shame that one didn't become a real hit.
DeleteWelcome back, Scott Rohrbeck!!! We missed so much.🤩

It's like you're actually trolling. Some of the songs in the no category are some of the worst of the whole year.
Oh crap, I’m My Blood dropped big.
ReplyDeleteI’m starting to fear that this song is going to leave on my birthday.
DeleteAs well as No Tears Left To Cry, unfortunately. :/
DeleteOMG, this is already a bad week.
DeleteOh wait, Montavis, you did have a bad weekend countdown on your birthday in 2017.
DeleteI may have on too this year, unfortunately.
DeleteIf you compare this week to this week last year, this week last year will definitely take the platinum.
DeleteWait, I don’t think In My Blood dropped that big, it’s just that DSR is skipping a chunk of the countdown.
DeleteWell, the last Saturday on by birthday was in 2012. It was a bad week because my favorite song on the countdown, This Is Love left that week. In my birthday weekend of 2013, my favorite song on the countdown also left and it’s my #1 on the 2013 Billboard YE Rankdown.

ReplyDeleteThe #1 hasn’t been revealed yet.

41. Tequila (27)

Ugh Dogstar won't let me get #35
ReplyDeleteActually, here's what I've got so far:
Delete45. Growing Pains
44. On The Loose
43. Alone
42. In My Feelings
41. Want You Back
40. I Like It
39. Shotgun
38. Lie (Debut)
37. Home With You
36. Happier (Debut)
35. Beautiful (Debut)
34. Top Down
33. Go Bang

24. No Tears Left To Cry

I have a feeling that #41-#36 are incorrect. DSR skipper a chunk of the countdown which was lazy.
DeleteThat’s for Chuckles’ comment BTW.
DeleteAnd I would still say that In My Blood dropped big, it may be the biggest drop.
DeleteTied with NTLTC.
DeleteWhat?
DeleteAny more countdown?
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Mac Miller, you will be missed.😭
ReplyDeleteAnd hello Drake!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat did Drake do?
DeleteWell at least he’s alive
The Last of the Real Ones is #1 this week!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to love coming to the comments on this blog and see what other music fanatics like myself think about todays music. But, now all this blog has become is a place for hate. Chase, you have got to calm down. If you aren't muture enough to see swear words then maybe you shouldn't be here. Also, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. The point of this blog is to discuss todays music. Adrian, thank you for keeping up such a great blog for all of these years! I look forward to reading it every week, however the comments are completely out of hand.
ReplyDeleteOkay.
Delete@Dylan You couldn't have said that any better.
DeleteI’m not Dylan.
DeleteYoungblood is #1

ReplyDeleteEither FEFE or Girls like You will challenge In My Feelings for #1 on Billboard Hot 100.
ReplyDeleteJust no. Fefe will not go to #1.
DeleteI think Girls like You may challenge In My Feelings for #1 on a Billboard Hot 100.
DeleteIf FEFE hits number 1 I'm done lol. 6ix9ine does not deserve it. Frankly, Nicki's first #1 needs to be something else!
DeleteFEFE won't hit #1. GLY or Lucky You will
DeleteI think Better Now is a more likely candidate to go number 1 than Girls Like You or FEFE. But I predict In My Feelings will hold for a few more weeks.
