New Entrants
~ The artist behind one of the most obnoxiously overrated songs of 2016 now has his second song on the countdown by the name of My Way. The production on this track is without a doubt better than This Is What You Came For. Definitely not as lazy and thankfully there is no repetition of the word "you" throughout. In fact, Calvin Harris handles all the vocals himself following the path of Feel So Close and Summer, which just goes to show that he can still make a hit without having a guest feature. Overall, I like the tropical production and I feel like this is a song that grows with more listens. We'll see if that's the case later on.
~ Panic! At The Disco also brings their second song on the countdown currently with Death Of A Bachelor. It does sound a lot like a throwback kind of song and it's definitely enjoyable. But I think the biggest score with this song is Brendon Urie. His vocals are just spot on, especially in the chorus. I like the instrumentals, the production, and I absolutely love the vocals. I'd say this song is a big score for the band.
~ DJ Snake has returned after some songs I have mixed opinions on. Turn Down For What was fun for a little while, You Know You Like It was just straight up mediocre, and Lean On was really catchy and a highlight of 2015. This time he brings Let Me Love You featuring Justin Bieber. I'll admit, the production isn't amazing. But it is different and quite catchy. But like Death Of A Bachelor, it's really the vocals that grab my attention the most. This is definitely one of Justin Bieber's best vocal performances this year. This song is a perfect example of why Justin Bieber is indeed an amazing singer. Me personally, I believe this song surpasses Cold Water as the better song. I really only hope for success out of this song.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Gnash/Olivia O'Brien – I Hate U, I Love U
2. Big Gigantic/Angela McCluskey – The Little Things
3. Runaground – Chase You Down
4. Sia/Kendrick Lamar – The Greatest
5. Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners – This Girl
Death Of A Blurb
~ So our Top 3 obnoxiously remains the same. How exciting.
~ And all of a sudden, Calvin Harris/Rihanna – This Is What You Came For makes an annoying jump into the Top 5 this week. I don't get what people love about this song. There are so many amazing EDM songs this year, and the one that makes it pretty damn high is the one with one of the generic, mediocre drops I've ever heard. I honestly just can't stand this song at all.
~ Oh how pleasant. X Ambassadors – Unsteady has made yet another big jump into the Top 10. Let me just say that I don't hate this song. But it's just a little boring after hearing the Erich Lee Gravity remix, which is more dramatic and engaging. This original version though? On top of it being pretty boring, I've heard it way too many times.
~ Let's not talk about the big jumps from Kiiara – Gold and Lady Gaga – Perfect Illusion. Way to make me dislike both of these songs a little more. I expect Gold to outright flop, while the latter may unfortunately be with us for a while.
~ Speaking of flop, Katy Perry – Rise apparently proved itself to be no more than a flop. I actually enjoyed this song quite a bit, but I think this is like, the first Katy Perry song to last only three weeks on the countdown. Oh well. As of recently, this song is definitely seen as more than just a flop through my eyes.
~ While Rise may have flopped. Britney Spears/G-Eazy – Make Me never even made it on the countdown. This was supposed to be that legendary Britney Spears comeback. But it appears as though Hits 1 does not see Britney Spears as that amazing of an artist.
~ Adele – Send My Love (To Your New Lover) made a nice jump out of the Top 10. I already saw this song as not that amazing and quite underwhelming. But my mom apparently loved this song (she still does actually) and she's always singing the chorus at the most random times. So way to make a song that I already didn't like very much even worse. Now I definitely don't think it's bad. But with its overplay not only by the radio, but by my mom too, I've definitely heard it way more than I should.
~ Hailee Steinfeld & Grey/Zedd – Starving made quite a massive jump this week, way higher than I expected it would jump. We'll see if this song sticks around with us or takes a big drop soon. I'm hoping it can stay for a while because I am really liking this song.
~ Of course All Time Low – Missing You takes a drop after I start really enjoying it. I guess I can only hope that it'll stay with us for a little while longer. Unfortunately it never did make the Top 20 like I hoped. Oh well. It had a good stay here. Now, fate will determine the remainder of its journey.
~ I'm hoping the drops from Symon – Say and Lukas Graham – Mama Said are signs that these songs are going to be leaving us very soon. They for sure will not be missed and depending on how the rest of year goes, the latter of the two songs does have a chance at appearing in my Bottom 5 Songs of 2016. That will likely happen only if we don't get many more awful songs for the remainder of the year.
~ OneRepublic – Kids jumped into the Top 20 a lot quicker than Wherever I Go did. Maybe that signifies that this song will be at least somewhat of a hit. That being said, I hope it manages to reach the Top 10. It's just such a cool song.
~ As unfortunate as it is for Selena Gomez to see her two songs exit the countdown on the same week, I am over hear thanking Hits 1 for this week that I've been anticipating for a while now. Hands To Myself and Kill Em With Kindness both fall under the uninteresting Selena Gomez songs category and it's really nice and pleasing to see them both get the boot on the same week.
~ The Hit 45 Chart is being worked on at the moment and I will try to get that out as soon as possible.

DeleteWhy would any of us miss a week? The only one who would miss a countdown week is you.

From the weekend countdown or Billboard's Hot 100? I'm guessing its the Countdown though. I can't even memorize the exact order of #1 hits from the 2010s.

I am just guessing the exit sequence.
DeleteWhy are you doing this, first of all, and second what's the point of it?
DeleteThe numbers in front of the exits still bother me, especially since they're out of order.
DeleteThat's another thing that annoys me. Its like the OCD which I don't really have is kicking in.
Delete"To make you angry if we have a boring week with less than 3 exits"
DeleteOh wow, that is one way to put it, alright. (I'm not being snarky, I actually found that a pretty clever insult.)
Most Missed HitBound Dropout: Hailee Steinfield/DNCE - Rock Bottom
DeleteWhy in the world is Be As You Are in dark green? And have you listened to this song before?
ReplyDeleteI did that on Drag Me Down before.
DeleteI answered this last week. I have no opinion on the ORIGINAL VERSION that Hits 1 plays. If they played the JordanXL remix, then it would be green.
DeleteI don't know the JordanXL Remix.
DeleteThen how come you've recommended it before???

ReplyDeleteWell, Britney Spears' Make Me isn't doing that well on charts either, I'm afraid.
And what's your opinion on Starboy? I can see it's green, but I didn't see you post anything about it.
You are right about Make Me. Aside from its drops on the BBH100, it's also dropping pretty damn fast on the radio charts.
DeleteI love Starboy!
DeleteI like it

Give Me Everything- Definitely in my top 20 songs of all-time. (Purple)
Hey Soul Sister- It's great. (Green)
Stronger- No comment (Green)
Wrecking Ball- Yuck. (Orange)
Like a G6- It's really good actually. (Green)
Super Bass- Love this song! (Green)
Pumped Up Kicks- You'd expect me to hate it, but I actually really like it. It'll definitely be in my top 100 songs of all-time when I make it. (Green)
Sail- I love this one as well. (Green)
Radioactive- This song is so amazing! (Green)
White Walls- This one is really good, definitely in my top 50, maybe in my top 40 or even 30, songs of all-time. (Green)
Wait, you've never heard 2 On, Safe & Sound, Diamonds, Dark Side, Reply, Like A G6, or Sober. I would have expected you to know about 2 On, especially considering it was produced by DJ Mustard.
DeleteI put Like A G6 on my review.
DeleteAlright then.
DeleteEvacuate the Dancefloor: blue (a nice dance track, even if its lyrics are a little ironic for such)
Dynamite: pink (already talked about this one on my biggest selling songs of the decade page)
Give Me Everything: pink (a flawed song for sure, Pitbull has made more enjoyable stuff but this does have good)
Replay: don't remember this one
Hey Soul Sister: orange (oh my goodness, this may be one of my most hated songs of all time now that I think about it, currently my worst pick that'll be on the Decade-End)
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You): pink (not really sure what to say about this one)
Diamonds: blue (pretty song)
Wrecking Ball: red (pretty crappy)
Like a G6: red (TheDoubleAgent covered this one in his Worst of 2010 video; don't need to say any more than he did)
Dark Side: pink (again, don't remember this one all too well)
Super Bass: purple (very enjoyable)
Pumped Up Kicks: green (yes I know what this is about but it's still good)
Sober: green (good old P!nk)
Safe and Sound: blue (a little repetitive but has substance to it)
Sail: blue (see Dynamite)
Radioactive: pink (see Sail)
White Walls: blue (I know Adrian hated this one, but I actually think it's pretty good)
2 On: green (one of the better DJ Mustard songs)
Evacuate The Dancefloor- Cascada
DeleteUnlike Everytime We Touch, this is an appropriate dance club song. Everytime We Touch starts out somber, like its gonna be a love song, then bam, it hits you with the Euro Dance/EDM production almost out of nowhere. By contrast, Evacuate The Dancefloor is a dance club song by right of name. It has the perfect club mix, good voice, good dance production, and lyrics about showing off your dancing. (9.2/10)
Dynamite- Taio Cruz
Yet another dance club song I like. The production does seem dated, but I like Taio Cruz's voice and the lyrics. The chorus and the verses are both equally catchy, and the bridge is amazing as well. (9.33/10)
Give Me Everything- Pitbill/Ne-Yo/Afrojack/Nayer
The only part I find to be memorable is the chorus and maybe the beat. I don't know how this hit #1 for 1 week, its forgettable at best. (6.1)
Replay- Iyaz
The chorus is insanely catchy, and memorable. I don't know why, but the production is dated, but, oh my God is it catchy.
Hey Soul Sister- Train
The lyrics are stupid, its really fucking stupid, but this is catchy.
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)- Kelly Clarkson
Not the best Kelly Clarkson song, but still pretty awesome. Easily top 10 for 2012.
Diamonds- Rihanna
Rihanna is amazing in this song. The chorus is memorable, Rihanna's voice is great and the production is good as well. Possibly top 20 for 2012.
Wrecking Ball- Miley Cyrus
I hate Miley's 2013 stint with songs like We Can't Stop and Adore, but this is okay. The video is fucking awful though. There's just something about the way Miley belches out the chorus and the production, its like she's trying to sound like Adele, but she isn't I don't hate this song, but Its not the best. (8.8)
Like A G6- Far East Movement/The Cataracs/Dev
I used to love this song back in 2010 and 2011, but now I've grown cold to it. The chorus is catchy, even though that's ripped out of another song, and the chorus is just stupid. the lyrics are stupid and the singers think they sound cool, when they sound anything but. The chorus is the most memorable part, but everything else fades into obscurity and ridiculousness (5.33)
Dark Side- Kelly Clarkson
This is catchy, but I think its doesn't fit right for a title called "Dark Side." Kelly doesn't even sound like she has a dark side, she sounds pretty happy in this if I'm honest. The beat is catchy, but the title is contradictionary of itself. (7.33)
Super Bass- Nicki Minaj
This is easily my favorite Nicki Minaj song. The beat is awesome, the chorus is catchy, and Nicki is actually likable for once. (9.25)
Pumped Up Kicks- Foster The People
I should hate this because of the reference to mass shootings, but the chorus is catchy I guess. (6.67)
Sober- P!nk
This is Just Like Fire but better and more complex. The pounding percussion, the violins, P!nk's voice, the complex leading guitar melody, and the well written narrative all just clicks in this.
Safe & Sound- Capital Cities
This is more synth pop than indie pop if anything. The chorus is catchy, but the synths get old after a while (7.1)
Sail- AWOLNATION
I don't know why I like this song, I just do. I think it has to do with the dubstep production working for once. (8.75)
Radioactive- Imagine Dragons
Easily the best rock song of the decade. The production mixes perfectly the chorus, everything just fits. That and this will forever be known as the longest running song on the Hot 100. (9.25)
White Walls- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis/Schoolboy Q/Hollis
The beat is good, but Jesus Christ that chorus is amazing and that production is great. (9.1)
2 On- Tinashe/Schoolboy Q
I hate DJ Mustard, I really hate him, but this is catchy (7.5)
*Replay- Iyaz
DeleteThe chorus is insanely catchy, and memorable. I don't know why, but the production is dated, but, oh my God is it catchy. (8.5)
Hey Soul Sister- Train
The lyrics are stupid, its really fucking stupid, but this is catchy. (7.3)
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)- Kelly Clarkson
Not the best Kelly Clarkson song, but still pretty awesome. Easily top 10 for 2012. (9.67)
Diamonds- Rihanna
Rihanna is amazing in this song. The chorus is memorable, Rihanna's voice is great and the production is good as well. Possibly top 20 for 2012. (9)
To Scott:
DeleteI doubt Hey Soul Sister will be on the decade end list.
http://pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/161314/2010s-decade-predictions-updated-october
DeleteThe Decade-End runs on an inverse point system, different from what the Year-End Hot 100 goes by. This thread may not be understood overnight, but it's worth mentioning. You won't see songs like Diamonds, Mirrors, (thankfully) Talk Dirty, Starships, or (sadly) Shut Up and Dance, and if you read the thread you'll understand how it works.
I should also mention that the Greatest of All Time chart runs on practically the same inverse point system, and that's mentioned in the same thread.
DeleteWhat's wrong with Mirrors?
DeleteOh no, that wasn't an insult towards the song at all, I was naming it as a song that more than likely has gathered too few points to make Decade-End, despite being #6 on 2013's Year-End.
DeleteAs I said, you need to understand how the inverse point system works to know how DE and GOAT work - it's very different from the Year-End charts.
Evacuate The Dancefloor- Cascada (9.5)

ReplyDeleteYou should watch this video it's really good! Also, the smaller kid in the video is in my homeroom at school.
Oh my goodness...
ReplyDeleteSo my mom suggested when I get home to tune to a certain channel to watch some concert called the Global Citizen Festival. I get home, turn it on. Kendrick is performing, very cool. Then there's some stuff with Chris Martin and Eddie Vedder, and in Part 2 we get another tribute to Prince...and then Rihanna. She performs Stay, and then right after that, guess what song she performs next.
Hint: I muted the TV.
Work.
DeleteNo. Worse.
DeleteShe also performed Pour It Up and at this time is performing Bitch Better Have My Money, but neither of those are the song in mind.
Another hint: It's widely considered by many as one of the worst songs of all time.
Alright, I'll say, it was Birthday Cake. At least it wasn't the full song, none of these are.
DeleteThen after some instrumentals she's performing Consideration, one of the songs off of ANTI (I haven't listened to that full album, so yeah).
I Took A Pill In Ibiza, Stressed Out, Don't Let Me Down, Ride, Dangerous Woman, Sit Still, Look Pretty, The Sound, Unsteady, No, 7 Years, Can't Stop The Feeling, Gold, Victorious, Cake By The Ocean, I'm Not Famous, New Romantics, Perfect Illusion, and Say need to leave the countdown ASAP!
ReplyDeleteThat's 2/5 the countdown right there. You're really starting to sound like Chase so please chill out.
DeleteThe only ones I completely agree on are SSLP, No, Gold, Cake By The Ocean and Stay.
Stay is not on the countdown.
DeleteDo you mean Say?
DeleteYeah, I kinda noticed that, haha. Say. That is true.
DeleteOh, and throw Toothbrush and This Is What You Came For in there too.
Work From Home, Say, Kids, This Is What You Came For, I'm Not Famous, Gold, Me Too, and Heathens all need to leave.
DeleteWork from Home, Gold, This is What You Came For, Me Too, need to leave, but Heathens needs to stay.
DeleteWhen life is good, you throw some bacon on it. -throws mini Bacon's on Parker's eggs-
ReplyDeleteLol...this one makes sense.
DeleteLeah, please stop throwing mini bacons on Parker's eggs, that's rude.
DeleteHi
DeleteWhy my eggs? Why not my sandwich?
Delete#1 Recommendation for Adrian: Rihanna - Love on the Brain
ReplyDeleteYEEEESS!!!!!
DeleteYeah.........I don't like that song.
DeleteI remember the BBMA post you put it as the worst performance, while Celine Dion's and Madonna's were tied for the best.
DeleteShe just wants to be beautiful
ReplyDeleteShe goes unnoticed, she knows no limits
She craves attention, she praises an image
She prays to be sculpted by the sculptor
Oh, she don't see the light that's shining
Deeper than the eyes can find it
Maybe we have made her blind
So she tries to cover up her pain and cut her woes away
'Cause cover girls don't cry after their face is made
But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh-oh, oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
She has dreams to be an envy, so she's starving
You know, cover girls eat nothing
She says beauty is pain and there's beauty in everything
What's a little bit of hunger?
I could go a little while longer, she fades away
She don't see her perfect, she don't understand she's worth it
Or that beauty goes deeper than the surface
Oh, oh
So to all the girls that's hurting
Let me be your mirror, help you see a little bit clearer
The light that shines within
There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh-oh, oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
No better you than the you that you are (no better you than the you that you are)
No better life than the life we're living (no better life than the life we're living)
No better time for your shine, you're a star (no better time for your shine, you're a star)
Oh, you're beautiful, oh, you're beautiful
And there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh-oh, oh-oh
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
I love this song!!!!
DeleteWatch this become Wild Things (if memory serves, one of his most hated songs of the year) all over again.
ReplyDelete…I'll shut up.
He did comment the lyrics to Wild Things once. So maybe he will hate this song.
DeleteWc out! Enjoy!
ReplyDelete[Chorus]
ReplyDeleteCan you keep up?
Baby boy, make me lose my breath
Bring the noise, make me lose my breath
Hit me Hard, make me lose my breath (Hah Hah)
Can you keep up?
Baby boy, make me lose my breath
Bring the noise, make me lose my breath
Hit me Hard, make me lose my breath (Hah Hah)
[Beyonce]
OOOh
I put it right there, made it easy for you to get to
Now you wanna act like ya don't know what to do
After I done everything that you asked me
Grabbed you, grind you, liked you, tried you
Moved so fast baby now I can't find you
OOOh
I'm startin' to believe that I'm way too much for you
All that talk but it seems like it can't come through
All them lies like you could satisfy me,
Now I see where believing you got me
Gave you the wheel, but you can't drive me
[Chorus]
[Kelly]
OOOh
Two things I don't like when I tryin' to get my groove
Is a partna that meets me only half way and just can't prove
Take me out so deep when you know you can't swim
Need a lifeguard and I need protection
To put it on me deep in the right direction
OOOh
You understand the facts that I'm tryin' to give to you
You movin' so slow like you just don't have a clue
Didn't mama teach you to give affection?
I know the difference of a man and an adolescent
It ain't you boo, so get to steppin'
[Chorus x2]
[Michelle]
If you can't make me say OOO
Like the beat of this drum
Why you ask for some and you really want none
If you can't make me say OOO
Like the beat of this groove
[All]
You don't have no business in this here's your papers
Baby you are dismissed, dismissed, dismissed, dismissed, dismissed, dismissed, dismissed
[Chorus x2]
Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath
DeleteYep. Like I said in my worst #1 hits post, Destiny's Child has had some really good hits. Say My Name, Independent Woman Part I, Survivor, and this are their best.
DeleteDoes anyone feel like there should be a re-entry soon?
ReplyDeleteWell, IKWYDLS played twice today.
DeleteAnd guess what aired last night: Beautiful Now.
Uh oh. I'm starting to get worried.
DeleteYeah, some kind of re-entry would be nice. The last one we had was In The Night back when CSTF debuted.
DeleteAnd cool it Parker, I don't believe that song is available for vote.
I will predict the exit date of every song on the countdown:

Delete01/28/17 will also have 8 HitBound entrants.
DeleteSo you're making my birthday weekend next year 1 exit? Unfair! (jk)
DeleteWell, your birthday in 2011 had 5 exits.
DeleteI wonder how Miles feels about my prediction for the number of exits in 06/10/17.
DeleteStupid is what I think. I think you need to stop thinking about how many exits will happen in a week that you don't even know what type of music will be out next year.
DeleteI'm not doing 2018 though.
DeleteThis year, I'm guessing I will have 1.
DeleteThat means that January 28, 2017 may actually be a 6+ exit week.
ReplyDeleteBut it's just a prediction.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIn dance this year, Romina is in the teen team. Her jazz song is Woman Up by Meghan Trainor.
ReplyDeleteCool! There are a lot of dancers at my school and they're really fun to watch!
DeleteI loved Woman Up!
DeleteYou know that song?
DeleteYes. It was on #40Friday for 7 weeks and peaked at #6. It set a record for the biggest jump ever, up 23 spots.
DeleteSo my birthday is on a Monday this year, and I'm not sure when my birthday weekend would be. My birthday is on November 21 and I don't know whether it would be the 19th or 26th or if I should consider both.
ReplyDelete19th.
DeleteMy birthday weekend would be October 15th.
I remember on my birthday weekend last year I woke up to listen to the countdown and my Sirius XM app wasn't working and I got in trouble for it. It was a 6-exit week though, and all the debuts I loved at the time.
DeleteAll I remember about my birthday weekend last year was the #1 was Stitches.
DeleteNo exits on my birthday last year. ;/
DeleteFor my birthday weekend last year, the #1 was Love Me Like You Do.
DeleteSUAD was #1.
DeleteHello was #1 on my birthday weekend last year as well.
DeleteOn my brother's birthday weekend in 2015, Sugar was #1 and See You Again debuted, which was one of my favorite countdowns ever. For this year, however, his birthday weekend had CBTO at #1 and Unsteady debuting, which didn't make me happy at all.
DeleteGuess what? November 19, 2011 had 7 exits on the weekend countdown.
DeleteSo I guess you'd love to have my birthday then.
DeleteOn my birthday weekend in 2014, there were only 2 exits/entrants, with one of the entrants being Uptown Funk. And Shake It Off was #1. In 2013, there were also 2 DTHNOBs with one of the entrants being White Walls, which I really love.
DeleteAnd in 2013 the #1 was Alone Together.
DeleteIn 2012, hours had 3 exits.

DeleteSUAD was #1 for my birthday weekend. I'm counting next week as my birthday weekend.
DeleteOkay... Mine is the week after.
DeleteMy birthday weekend countdown had no exits and SUAD tied the record for most #1's
DeleteIt was a bad week...
Guess when was this week. [I bet WAMB10 will get this right ;)]
My birthday weekend.
DeleteI'm guessing that my dad, me, and my dog's birthday weekend in 2009 all had 6 exits. My dogs birthday is June 20.

DeleteI'm guessing.

DeleteBTW in 2009, my dad's and my birthday weekend would be the same week because we have very close birthdays.
DeleteHer dad and I have the same birthday.
DeleteYup. 10/03 would be 3 days after my dad's and 3 days before mine.
DeleteSo 10/03/15 and 10/03/09 were the nearest birthdays to our weekends in 2009 and 2015 respectively.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, it was actually from 01/01/11-09/17/16.
DeleteI don't think the weekend countdown existed before 2006
DeleteAnd can you stop with the useless randomizers and the guessing how many exits were on someone's birthday weekend, its annoying, and irritating.
DeleteIt actually existed in 2004.
DeleteAnd they weren't birthday weekends, they were weekends on the randomizer.
DeleteWell stop it, its annoying the hell out of me.
