Hey guys. Sorry for the delay. I'm sure you've all been anxiously awaiting the publishing of this post. I've come to the conclusion that if I don't get my post out during the weekend, it will be a while until it gets published because I've just been really busy lately. So I'm going to try my best to get these posts out over the weekend. Otherwise, they won't come out until late. But I appreciate your guys' patience. And hey, better late than never! New Entrants
~ I'm pretty split right now on the entrants overall as two of them are good, and the other two are both pretty bad. We'll get through the bad ones first, starting with Gold by Kiiara. Right from the beginning, this song is already completely unappealing. And that part comes back for each chorus and by the end of the song, it just becomes one of the most annoying things I've ever heard. The rest of the song is really boring and the beat just gets irritating after the first 10 seconds at most. Overall, I'm not a fan of this song. With this excuse of a debut single, Kiiara has not made herself an artist that I will ever potentially come back to because, let's be real here, I doubt she will be remembered in a couple years. I hope this song will flop like it should because it really is not something worthy of the Top 45 songs in North America.
~ If you read my last countdown post, you would've seen my full-on rant about why I find Perfect Illusion is to be a disappointment, unappealing, and just straight up annoying. All in all, I really had my expectations way too high for the Lady Gaga comeback single. She has great vocal capabilities, but does not show it in this song. I don't like the production. When the last chorus comes, the song just turns into something absolutely unbearable. But because it's Lady Gaga, I can guarantee that this song will end up being extremely overrated. I miss songs like Alejandro, Telephone, Bad Romance, Just Dance, etc. Oh well.
~ OneRepublic have returned after the unfortunately flop by the name of Wherever I Go. They are back with Kids. It is definitely an interesting song that I actually find to be really catchy. Obviously it's not OneRepublic's best work. But I feel as though this band never fails to deliver a pretty catchy single every now and then. Overall, I am hooked on this song and I'm curious to see how it'll do on this countdown.
~ I think my favorite entrant this week is the return from the Pitch Perfect 2 star, Hailee Steinfeld. She had that fun and catchy song last year called Love Myself. She's back with a new single Starving and I actually really like it. While the drop did seem slightly irritating at first, a few more listens was all it took to just grab my attention completely and make me realize that it actually sounds pretty cool. Hailee Steinfeld also has a really good voice. While I'm not exactly sure if this hits the peak of Love Myself, it does certainly get the job done by making want to just hit the replay button after the song ends.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:
- Gnash/Olivia O'Brien – I Hate U, I Love U
- Jason Derulo – Kiss The Sky
- Nick Jonas – Bacon
- Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners – This Girl
- Pitbull/Flo Rida/LunchMoney Lewis – Greenlight
- Andy Grammer – Fresh Eyes
- Calvin Harris – My Way
- Mike Posner – Be As You Are
- Panic! At The Disco – Death Of A Bachelor
- Big Gigantic/Angela McCluskey – The Little Things
- Ellie Goulding – Still Falling For You
- Magic! – Red Dress
- DJ Snake/Justin Bieber – Let Me Love You
- Sia/Kendrick Lamar – The Greatest
~ Kiss The Sky really isn't that different from the other Jason Derulo songs we've gotten recently. While it is better than songs like Get Ugly, I can do without the obnoxious screaming.
~ I'm surprised My Way debuted Hit-Bound so quickly. It is the third single we've gotten from Calvin Harris where he does the vocals. Overall, I'd consider this song to be good. At the very least, it is definitely better than This Is What You Came For.
~ Greenlight does sound like a typical Pitbull pop-dance kind of song. I'm not a huge fan of LunchMoney Lewis' contributions, but the overall song is actually pretty catchy and I can definitely get down to this at a party or something.
~ Is Still Falling For You Ellie Goulding's best song? No, it's not. Songs like Lights and Love Me Like You Do are really hard to top. But let's be real here. Ellie Goulding pretty much never disappoints. I don't think there's a single song by her that I legitimately dislike. Still Falling For You is a nice song and while it's nowhere near her best, it's still a pretty good song.
~ Sia is back once again. The Greatest is a nice brand new song for me to play around with since I'm sick of Cheap Thrills. I still don't think it's as good as Chandelier. But I am enjoying it at the moment. We've been needing this Cheap Thrills follow-up for a little while now.
~ I absolutely love Gnash/Olivia O'Brien – I Hate U, I Love U. I think it's a really sweet song, actually pretty sad too. It's really the message of the song that makes me really appreciate it. I'm sure some of us have been in love with someone that likes someone else. I know I have. They pretty much just took this relateable situation and turned it into a song and I applaud them for that. We need more songs like these that actually have a message we can relate to. I sure hope this can make it on to the countdown.
~ DJ Snake is back featuring Justin Bieber with the song, Let Me Love You, which is my new favorite song on Hit-Bound. Bieber sounds amazing from start to end. It's songs like these that really reveal how much of a great singer he is. While the drop isn't that exciting, it is definitely different and pretty interesting. I really hope this song makes it on to the countdown, which it probably will.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. TIE: Gnash/Olivia O'Brien – I Hate U, I Love U
1. TIE: DJ Snake/Justin Bieber – Let Me Love You
3. Panic! At The Disco – Death Of A Bachelor
4. Sia/Kendrick Lamar – The Greatest
5. Kungs & Cookin' On 3 Burners – This Girl
Back When We Were Blurbs
~ Can we please get Ride and Cheap Thrills out of the Top 3 at the very least??? I would appreciate if neither of these songs hit #1. Ride has spent way too much time at #2 and I'm tired of constantly being on the edge of my seat hoping it doesn't hit #1.
~ Although I'm not enjoying seeing Ride at #2, I am liking the jump into the Top 10 from Twenty One Pilots – Heathens. I still think this song is special and won't be like the other songs from this band that I enjoy for a while, then get sick of it (or just flat out hate it). It's a completely different sound that I'm really digging. And hopefully this means that Ride will start to drop.
~ Seeing Lukas Graham – Mama Said have the Biggest DROP!!!... of the Week was pretty pleasing. Even though it only dropped 8 spots, that title is enough to please me. Hopefully, this song will start to fade away. I anticipate that day.
~ The Strumbellas – Spirits jumped into the Top 20 pretty damn quickly. I though this would be one of those songs that hangs around in the #20-#30 range for a while without actually doing anything. Then maybe it'll be like Timeflies – Once In A While and make a surprising leap into the Top 20. But this song is catching on quick and I'm glad. I really do like this song.
~ Please disregard my original mixed opinion on Katy Perry – Rise when it debuted. Over the past two weeks, I've really grown a connection with this song and I actually really like it. However, it is flopping on a lot of charts, so hopefully it can stick around a little longer here.
~ Of course All In My Head (Flex) left before Work From Home. You'd think all the Fifth Harmony fans voting for Work From Home would be voting for All In My Head too. It's times like these when I feel like this countdown is rigged and not actually based on votes.
~ I remember when All Time Low – Missing You debuted and I thought it was kind of mediocre. Well repeated listens have proved otherwise. This song is actually quite amazing. I love the instrumentation. The vocals are really good. This song has only gotten better since it first debuted. It may seem like one of those songs that's just there. But I really do think this song is something amazing. Amazing enough to consider it for my Top 45 Songs of 2016.
~ I am unfortunately behind on the Hit 45 Chart as well. I'm going to try to get that out as soon as possible, which will hopefully be tomorrow.

Nice post, Adrian!
ReplyDeleteAdrian, it is 2016, not 2015.
ReplyDeleteAdrian, can you please fix the year? It's not 2015, it's 2016.
ReplyDeleteI heard you the first time.
DeleteWow I actually agree with Adrian for once lady gaga's voice sounds horrible in perfect illusion and the video is cringeworthy
ReplyDeleteWait, Work From Home is in red?
ReplyDeleteYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Ah, yes.
DeleteOn that note, hopefully Me Too will be in red - or at the very least, pink - soon.
I don't think it will. He did say it is his guilty pleasure of 2016 so far. I don't think it'll hit pink by the time it leaves. It'll mostly be green through much of it tenure for Adrian.
DeleteSpeaking of Work From Home, it hasn't been played in 12 hours. Maybe it'll leave next week?
DeleteBut the week that No became red, he said "I don't know what I was thinking when I liked this song and I'll probably feel the same about Me Too in a month or two". Something like that. And it was in blue earlier as well.
DeleteIf that's true I give it until the end of November. If its still around.
DeleteNow that I think about it Adrian, I don't think there is a single Ellie Goulding song I hate. Light, Love Me Like You Do, and Anything Could Happen are obviously her best works, but even scrolling though her albums and listening to her songs, I could not find 1 song that I absolutely detest.
ReplyDeleteAlso is it just me, or is Lady Gaga trying to emulate her inner Christina Aguilera at the end of Perfect Illusion? It sounds so much like her, no wonder I'm starting to love this song more and more. Sorry Guys, but I think I may have found a potential #1 soon for me.
ReplyDeleteThat throwback pick tho. Honestly after seeing the Giants win over the Saints I've been listening to Empire State Of Mind once again. The last time I really listened to this song a lot was back in 2009 when it was released. And luck New York because the Yankees would soon go to win their 27th World Championship over the Phillies, and I'm glad for two reasons. One, I am a big Yankee fan, and two, I hate Philadelphia and their teams (No offense to Scott and some sane Philadelphia locals)
ReplyDeleteI do really like that song. Jay-Z is bold to call himself the new Sinatra, but that chorus is awesome.
DeleteWell think about, Frank sang the song New York New York (Which has since been engrained into NYC culture, as well as being heard every New Year in New York) so its no surprise he's trying to create another New York City anthem. And yes the chorus is awesome. Better than Girl On Fire and No One for Alicia Keys.
DeleteMy Way has been played 4 times this week, all today. So I think it will debut next week.
ReplyDeleteParker, I told my mom what you said about her.
ReplyDeleteWait...
ReplyDeleteWhy is SSLP turquoise?
Why is BAYA dark green?
Why is CBTO blue?
I hear Sit Still, Look Pretty way too often. Frankly it's not that amazing of a song and really shouldn't be played this much.
DeleteI don't really have much of an opinion on Be As You Are since Hits 1 plays the original version for whatever reason as opposed to the remix, which I think is better. The original I'm split on at the moment.
I really did grow back into Cake By The Ocean after not listening to it for a while and I've been enjoying it lately.

Whoops, my bad. Remind me to never eat fudge pie again.
I don't think there'll be 7 exits.
DeleteHe was just kidding.
DeleteMe and Miles both
DeleteI didn't think you would like I Hate U, I Love U. And I love My Way!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm going to try to get COAEP out today because I have something I'm going to for most of the afternoon tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGood news: I have changed my profile picture.
ReplyDeleteBad news: It's not showing up...yet.
It is now. Try and guess what it is.
DeleteIt's the Mama Said cover
DeleteFuck OctaHate
ReplyDeleteI love Octahate.
DeleteI really think that it shouldn't left in a 7 exit week, since those weeks are usually awesome.
DeleteI LOVE OctaHate!!!!!
DeleteOkay ladies now let's get in formation.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIts the lyrics to one of Adrain's least favorite song's of 2016, I should not have to explain that to you Parker.
DeleteNever mind
Delete#IlluminateAtMidnight
ReplyDeleteAdrian, you forgot to do something at the end of the post.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to take time to do that, this post probably wouldn't have came out until tomorrow.
DeleteThe Weeknd and Daft Punk have a new song that's on Hits 1 and being overplayed played on z100 already.
ReplyDeleteStarboy.
DeleteYeah, I heard about it this morning. Pretty cool stuff.
DeleteCan it - or SOMETHING - dethrone Closer on the Billboard Hot 100 eventually? I really don't want to hate that song again, but as it towers over the #1 spot, that gets harder. I will be mad if Uptown Funk loses its record of longest running #1 of the decade to it. Sure, it's grown on me some, but I don't think it's that amazing of a song.
Lol!!!!!!!!!
Delete...That wasn't directed at me, was it? -o-o
DeleteWhen you sweep a team of sweepers with a Mega Evolved Bunny. Ethan knows what I mean. (I think.)
ReplyDeleteIs it something related to Pokemon Go?
DeleteffDurp123, you're back!!!
DeleteNope, its Pokemon though, but not Pokemon Go. Sweeping with Mega Lopunny is so much fun =. Scrappy + Fake out + Return + Drain Punch + MAX EVS In Attack = Monster
DeleteThe Hot 45 Chart is out!!!!! Love ya fam!
ReplyDeletePerfect Illusion or Gold?
ReplyDeleteI take Gold by a landslide.
Perfect Illusion, obviously.

@Miles: If you saw in his Top 20 breakdown, he did have The Sound upgraded to Decent and not Mediocre, so he may have slightly grown into it. But that is surprising though, although I know he had Shut Up and Dance colored in yellow last time he color coded the one year ago #1, so I doubt he's completely softened on it yet.

This just in: Starboy by The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk debuts at #2 on Spotify, only behind Closer.

It debuted at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kinda surprising that Heathens isn't on this list.
DeleteI give all of these songs about one or two months until Chase gets sick of them.
DeleteI ain't releasing my top songs for 2016 until December.
DeleteAlso, my throwback picks double as recommendations to listen to. I was actually listening to My Heart Will Go On today on my way to the football game.
DeleteMy #1 song of the year so far is probably either Don't Hurt Me or Don't Mind.
DeleteMine is probably Make Me.
DeleteI don't want to say what mine is so far, but a few of them I'm sure some of you can guess.
DeleteAnd as for Miles' throwback picks, I do recognize just about all of those. (:
Thank you Scott. By the way, what would be your favorite song? (I bet it'll be Candle In The Wind 1997)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteActually, I think it would be either My Heart Will Go On or Too Close. The latter I may be a little biased what with it being the #1 of that year, but it's a pretty smooth disco-esque track. But as I said, I like all of them. And if I was including these, I wouldn't include Candle In The Wind because it was a repeat, one that was somehow the #1 of 1997 despite showing up super late in the year. Too bad that power doesn't exist nowadays.

ReplyDeleteHit 45 Chart has been out since last night for those unaware. :)
ReplyDeleteI just got back from a football game that has been postponed until 1PM Sunday. We were winning 20-0. The game was called with around 10:00 left in the second quarter.
ReplyDeleteI just listened to Starboy and…
ReplyDeleteIt's boring, dull, and uninteresting. I don't get what is so amazing about The Weeknd's music.
It's good but nothing amazing in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteThis was actually an amazing week! I'll try my best to get a post out on it.
ReplyDeleteI'd say it was good. But it wasn't perfect cause Rise left and KEWK was still goods and Unsteady and The Sound both left while Ride couldn't take the #1 spot. But still it was good.
DeleteI'm surprised that no one mentioned that Adrian will be so happy about KEWK and HTM leaving in the same week.
