200,000 Pageview Special – Music Video Reviews

Hey guys! Once again, thank you so much for over 200,000 pageviews on this blog! I never knew it would get so popular. I mean my posts get so many pageviews every day. Each of my countdown posts have gotten at least 1,000 pageviews, which is incredible. So as a special post for 200,000 pageviews. I'll be reviewing popular music videos and giving each of a grade. The different grades include: A+, A, A–, B+, B, B–, C+, C, C–, D+, D, D–, and F. Hopefully, you guys know which grade is the best between A+ and F. So let's get right into it!

  • Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (Song grade: A+)

Video Review: The video basically has Taylor as several different characters from a ballerina to a hip-hop kind of person. There are parts of the video where she doesn't exactly "fit in". First of all, we all know the meaning of the song itself. And that's to forget the haters. But I can't really relate what she says in the song to what she does the video besides her "shaking it off". But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's a fun video to watch. There are cheerleaders doing back-flips in the talk/rap part of the song. I think the best of the video is the last minute where she has a bunch of random people "shaking it off". I don't know why. I just like that part the best. It's a good video and I would say it's worth showing my friends (at least the ones who like the song. One of the friends doesn't like the song but likes All About That Bass and I felt like punching her (not really, obviously)).

Overall Video Grade: A

  • Maroon 5 – Animals (Song grade: A)

Video Review: The video starts with Adam working as a butcher and stalking this girl. And I mean he is stalking her more than anyone has ever stalked anyone before. Eventually, he is covered in blood and it is just so freakin' weird and creepy. Then he's having sex with that girl and then they both get bloody and the video gets even weirder and creepier. It's basically another video about sex. But this one goes beyond anything I have ever seen before. This video was really uninteresting and I would've been better off not seeing it at all. But apparently, some people actually like this (of course). I can never look at Adam Levine the same way...

Overall Video Grade: D+

  • Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame (Song grade: A+)

Video Review: The video is mainly about women (what I would expect from Calvin Harris). I guess they go to these parties and they've had enough of it? I really don't know. It's weird what's going on in this video. Towards the end of the video, the women escape. One falls through a sink. Another falls through a bucket. And another falls through a puddle. And they all escape into this underwater world. It's very interesting and I love how the song was aligned with the video so that once we get a view of this underwater world, the third dance interlude comes in. But besides that, I found the video quite bland. It's not a video worth showing other people unfortunately. But the song itself is definitely worth showing other people.

Overall Video Grade: B+

  • Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass (Song grade: F)

Video Review: I don't necessarily understand what's going on in the video. It's just Meghan with a bunch of other girls and it was not worth my time. It was stupid and there is no more to review for it.

Overall Video Grade: F

  • Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang (Song grade: A+)

Link To YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HDdjwpPM3Y

Video Review: I have to say. This video isn't half bad. Jessie sings with a bunch of random people around her. Ariana sings in her room while doing her makeup. And then Nicki is introduced by being dropped off from a helicopter. Then the three join together for the final chorus with their ridiculously high heels on the helicopter pad. It's a very fun video with everyone partying considering the fact that this is a party song. I really did like that video though.

Overall Video Grade: A+

  • Nicki Minaj – Anaconda (Song grade: A)

Link To YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDZX4ooRsWs

Video Review: Yes. I actually watched the video. All I have to say is.....wow. Of course, there wasn't a second in the video where we didn't see someone's butt. And there's twerking through most of the video. In the video, Nicki was basically treated as a queen. I mean, she is the queen of rap. I can actually imagine laughing with my friends about how stupid she is in this video while watching it. So I guess I can show it to people like my friends. Even though I don't think the video is good, since the majority of the population hates the song, let alone the video, I don't think it'll be very hard to find someone who also hates the video and we can talk about how weird and stupid it is. But I'm assuming most people who actually watched the video are either people who like the song or people that want to see her ass. I can't imagine what that guy towards the end of the video was thinking after Nicki was twerking on him.

Overall Video Grade: C

  • Ariana Grande/The Weeknd – Love Me Harder (Song grade: A+)

Link To YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5qU7p7yOY8

Video Review: The video starts pretty calm with Ariana singing in one room. That goes on for a while while she keeps making weird, slow gestures as she sings. Then we get a shot of The Weeknd. All he does is walks around and sings. Then we go right back to Ariana for the second chorus. There isn't really that much more in the video. I don't really think it's worth seeing again or showing other people. I kinda like it in a way though because of how sexy Ariana looks while singing this sexy song. I don't know. I have mixed opinions.

Overall Video Grade: B+

  • One Direction – Steal My Girl (Song grade: A–)

Link To YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpsKGvPjAgw

Video Review: Let me start off by saying Harry Styles is really ugly with that long and straight hair. Ok. On to the video. The video starts with the boys exiting a trailer in what looks like the middle of nowhere where it looks like their filming a music video. Then their director shows up. The director gives Harry the title of love, Niall the title of light, Liam the title of power, Louis the title of danger, and Zayn the title of mystery. I don't think the video relates to the song in any way. Instead it's basically a circus. It was good. I may watch it again. I may not. We'll see. I also think they were really cute four years ago when they first became popular. They don't even look like the same people comparing them to four years ago. Oh well. As artists grow older, they grow less good-looking. I'm talking about you too Justin Bieber!

Overall Video Grade: B

  1. A personal note:
First off, I LOVE All about That Bass so I give it an A+. The music video is cute, but I can't really relate it to the song. A-.
The worst music video on the list is the one for Animals. Like you said, it's gruesome, creepy, and disgusting. They should've called it "Torture For Your Eyeballs." A for the song, but F for the video. They really should've done a better, less inapropriate video for such an innocent song like Animals.
All the other music videos you listed are pretty decent/good/great.
Happy Veterans Day from yours truly,
    Remy!

  9. No no no how can this be?
    Did Flaws really leave?
You've got to be kidding me.
The best song in the world DID NOT just leave.
1 short week on the countdown, gimme a break!
Curse you Hits 1, for letting Flaws join the 1 week tenure club! It doesn't deserve to be in that club! (Then again, neither does Out Of The Woods and Welcome To New York)
