America's Got Talent: Introduction

Hey guys! Just like I did last year, this year I will be reviewing America's Got Talent again for the second year now. It is my favorite show currently on TV (but keep in mind I don't watch very much TV). If you haven't seen it before, it's a really cool show. So I recommend it. It's basically exactly what it sounds like. It's a talent competition where one act will win a grand prize of one million dollars. But there are obviously a series of stages to get to that point. We are currently in Season 12, it airs on NBC, and new episodes are on every Tuesday and Wednesday*.

*New episodes currently air only on Tuesdays and will begin to air on Wednesdays as well when we reach the live shows.

I've pretty much already talked about how the show works. The first round of auditions were this week. And the auditions are pretty straight forward. We have our host, Tyra Banks (who is our new host replacing Nick Cannon). Our four judges remain the same. We have comedian Howie Mandel, Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown (known as Mel B), German model Heidi Klum, and record/television producer Simon Cowell. Acts perform for the four judges and each judge votes "yes" or "no" as to whether or not the act should move forward in the competition. An act needs a minimum of three yes' to be put through. In the event of a tie (2 yes' and 2 no's), the act does not go through. The judges have red buzzers to press if an act does not meet their standards. If an act gets buzzed by all four judges, the act is eliminated immediately.

The golden buzzer returns for its fourth season. The purpose of the golden buzzer is to send an act straight through to the live shows skipping the Judge Cuts round. Each judge is allowed to use the golden buzzer on one act, so they must choose wisely. The host, Tyra Banks, is also given one golden buzzer to use.

So that's basically how the auditions go. Last year I did not review the auditions. I began reviewing at the Judge Cuts, which is the second round in the competition. I was planning on doing a post where I go through some of the highlights in the auditions. But due to timing, I may just scratch that and start with the Judge Cuts again. The last set of auditions aired this past week. So starting next week, I will hopefully be able to start reviewing the show while also attempting to keep up with my countdown posts. I know my timing has been off these past several weeks. But I'm trying to improve on that. So I guess we'll see how things go. I really want to do this again so I'm really going to try to get these posts out on a regular basis. If you're not interested in the show whatsoever, you can just disregard the posts and come only for the countdown posts as I do plan on recapping the countdown at the same time. So yeah. That's all I have for you. I'm going to be out tomorrow so the 7/8/17 countdown should hopefully be out on Sunday.

    1. Did you also watch AGT's follow-up, World of Dance? If you're wondering, it's some dance competition show based on the lifestyle promotion of the same name. Jenna Dewan Tatum is hosting, with executive producer/head judge Jennifer Lopez, and co-judges Derek Hough and Ne-Yo.
    2. Did you happen to watch Little Big Shots: Forever Young Starring Steve Harvey on Wenesdays before the live AGT shows?
    3. As far as I could read here, I don't watch AGT anymore, mainly to watch The Amazing Race Canada on CTV. If you can find someone on YouTube uploading season V, let me know because I am going on a cruise sometime this August.
    4. On CITY, the show's Canadian broadcaster, I would want to see if you can watch Beat Shazam on Fox and/or The Gong Show on ABC.

  43. So while on my way home, Starving just played on Hits 1 in Hollywood. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD CAN THIS SONG STOP TESTING THE PATIENCE OF EVERYONE HERE AND LEAVE ALREADY.

WAMB10, if you're still voting for this song, please cut it out.

  44. Well, more bad news for you Scott. Starving is still on the voting list so it's still not leaving for another week or so.

On that note, here are the songs available to vote:

    All-American Rejects - Sweat
Bebe Rexha - The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)
    Harry Styles - Two Ghosts

Machine Gun Kelly featuring Camila Cabello - Bad Things
      Niall Horan - This Town

    2. YES! Goodbye Bad Things, you will certainly not be missed and always forgotten! (Well remembered as one of the worst songs of the year though)

    3. Redbone is now my worst song in 2017. Since it debuted the countdown last week, I'm calling the cops on that song and then they're going to come to take that song out of the countdown.

      Delete
    4. ATR, is your account connected to Chase in some way?

      Delete
    5. Here's the reason why I hate Redbone. It has a lazy, boring production, awful vocals and terrible lyrical content.

      Delete
    6. Ah yes, very good news for all three of those (except This Town which I don't "hate" per se, but it was old).

But aside from Starving, we also have Don't Wanna Know to hopefully soon get rid of.

  45. So, apparently just today because of my new post, I got over 200 views on my most recent Hot 100 post. I cannot explain it at all and I don't know how this happened.

    2. Blogger says I have tons of views when they're not much on each post so it could be a glitch if you really don't think it's possible.

    3. Apparently, the huge gain is coming from people in the Philippines.

    4. Just to make sure, you're not complaining, are you?

    5. Graham: If you have a lot of views but not much on each post, the extra views must come from viewing your blog's home page or other pages other than posts.
