Biggest Jump Of The Week: Panic! At The Disco – Death Of A Bachelor (+16)
New Entrants
~ Our lone new entrant new this week is the resurrection of Train, who we have not heard from since 2013. You can definitely consider me a Train fan. I enjoyed some of the singles from California 37, including Drive By, Mermaid, and Bruises. I also loved Hey, Soul Sister from 2010. So they've pretty much always been on my good side. Play That Song is definitely a little slower than the norm, not that that's necessarily a bad thing. I still find it to be a very interesting listen. I did put it in green, but it was on the edge between green and blue. So it could definitely change within the next couple weeks. But for the time being, I'm enjoying it. It's still fresh and new.
Play That Blurb
~ We had a lot of things happen this week. Some good, some bad. One of the good things that happened was the massive jump into the Top 10 from Panic! At The Disco – Death Of A Bachelor. I still really love this song, so it's very nice to see a quick recovery after that 10-spot drop to #25 last week.
~ Unfortunately, we also see some jumps into the Top 10 from Andy Grammer – Fresh Eyes and Bruno Mars – 24K Magic. I'm not pleased with either of these. One is really boring and the other is just straight up annoying. The latter unfortunately may not be leaving anytime soon, so I'll just have to learn to put up with it.
~ Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend took a pretty quick drop out of the Top 20 from #6 last week. Not a good fall. I would be extremely disappointed by this, but it has a spent a good amount of time in the Top 10. So I'm happy about that.
~ The continuous jumps and drops from X Ambassadors – Unsteady is getting more and more annoying. I honestly never thought this would become one of those songs that just keeps jumping back into the Top 20 whenever it feels like it. We have better songs that should be occupying that spot.
~ Meanwhile, Sia/Kendrick Lamar – The Greatest is dropping so fast like nobody's business. Sure, I may be extremely tired of Cheap Thrills, but that doesn't mean I don't want The Greatest to have the same kind of success. I still really enjoy this song and it pains me to see it dropping like this. Sia and Kendrick Lamar are both talented individuals. This song deserves a reasonable amount of success.
~ Jon Bellion – All Time Low managed to make the jump into the Top 20 this week. So that's good. It's really nice to see his music have some success, especially since he's not like your everyday pop singer. Now let's keep voting for it to get it up even higher!
~ Also in the Top 20, we have Pitbull/Flo Rida/LunchMoney Lewis – Greenlight and Martin Garrix/Bebe Rexha – In The Name Of Love. I am very excited to see the latter getting some success, and I'm happy with the former too.
~ Kenny Chesney/P!nk – Setting The World On Fire has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. And I'm definitely happy about that. It has gotten a lot better since the first listen. Will this song make my Top 45 of the year? It's possible. But I can't ensure anything 100%.
~ I don't know if anyone was expecting the massive drop from Major Lazer/Justin Bieber/MØ – Cold Water. I sure wasn't. I do still like this song, but I'm not totally heartbroken by this. I have listened to this song quite a bit and my interest in it is very slowly fading away.
~ I still find it very pleasing to see Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza break out of the Bottom 5. Frankly, I'm even surprised at how much this song is sticking with me. Like I legitimately cannot get sick of it. It's still going strong on this countdown and I'd like to see it continue like that maybe even until the beginning of 2017.
~ I'm willing to bet that Demi Lovato – Body Say and 5 Seconds of Summer – Girls Talk Boys never air during the week. It's already strange enough that they're still here considering they were never really massive hits on other charts. But Hits 1 just doesn't want to let them go for whatever reason.
~ Speaking of songs that were never really massive hits on other charts, Taylor Swift – New Romantics makes its official departure this week. Though it was not loved as much by other radio stations, it was definitely loved by Hits 1. It's safe to say that this is the end for the 1989 run. That album certainly had a good run. It had seven singles and it only one of those singles did not hit #1. This album contained the single that broke Hits 1's record for most weeks at #1 (Shake It Off) and there were some singles that I still really enjoy to this day (Blank Space, Bad Blood, Out Of The Woods). New Romantics will definitely be remembered as one of those singles I just could not get sick of. Thank you for your service. 1989, you were a great album.
~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is being worked on and I will try to get that out as soon as possible.

Hello! have you seen my new pusle countdown post?
ReplyDeletealso First!
It's pulse, not pusle.
DeleteNice post! Just a couple of questions, 1) Why was Bad Blood in blue on the August 6 post when you're saying now that you really enjoy it? And 2) Why do you like Fade?
ReplyDeleteI like your post, Adrian!
ReplyDeletePop quiz time! Order these numbers from least to greatest:
ReplyDeleteThe number of times Jon Bellion says "Low" in All Time Low
The number of times Rihanna says "Work" in Work.
The number of times Fifth Harmony says "Work" in Work From Home
The number of curse words in Nicki Minaj - Anaconda
The average frequency of "Never Be Like You"
-FruitFarmer
I'm going to guess from highest to lowest:
DeleteAll Time Low
Work From Home
Work
Anaconda
I don't know what a frequency is.
This isn't really related to the original comment, but here's a random fact: Work From Home was originally called Work, but Fifth Harmony changed it because Rihanna had already released her Work.
DeleteAnd I'm going to guess:
DeleteAll Time Low
Work From Home
Work
Anaconda
Never Be Like You
I knew that fact. :)
DeleteThrowback comment of the day: http://sxmhitsoneweekendcountdown.blogspot.com/2016/02/twenty-one-pilots-eww-1.html?showComment=1456359524912#c6418121800524291795
DeleteHaha I remember that!
DeleteAnd if I had to guess:
All Time Low
Work From Home
Anaconda
Work
Never Be Like You
Never Be Like You
DeleteAnaconda
Work From Home
Work
All Time Low
I guessed from lowest to highest.
DeleteBREAKING NEWS:
ReplyDelete"As reported by multiple publications in the U.K., Ed Sheeran was reportedly on the receiving end of a rather, er, interesting injury at a recent Royal Lodge in Windsor party with friends.
Sometime during the party, attendee James Blunt — you know, the "You're Beautiful" crooner— asked the homeowner's daughter, Princess Beatrice of York, to be fake-knighted with an authentic ceremonial sword.
The princess obliged Blunt's silly request, and when she lifted the sword to place it on his shoulder, she accidentally swung the sword back so forcefully that the blade sliced through Sheeran's cheek.
The cut was severe enough to warrant medical attention, and Sheeran was treated at a nearby hospital before later returning to the party.
Though neither Sheeran nor the Royal Family has yet to formally comment on the incident, the singer-songwriter was well enough to perform at a London concert the next day, and photos of his face wound can be seen on numerous fan accounts. Blimey!"
Article is from Devon Ivie of Vulture.com.
Nice post! Also, I've updated Uprising: The Hottest New Songs and the What You Guys Want section on my Hot 45 Chart blog!
ReplyDeleteNice post! And I'm glad you still really like that recommendation.

They forgot to remove Hands to Myself after leaving the countdown, and they forgot to remove Stone Cold after leaving Hit-Bound.
DeleteYa sure, they "Forget".
DeleteI'm surprised no one's mentioned the news about Kanye West.
ReplyDeleteyes, he got injured.
DeleteI don't know the full story, but from what I know he was dealing with some personal problems which made him cancel the rest of his Saint Pablo tour. He was also hospitalized on Monday.
DeleteHe was hospitalized because of some mental issues. I haven't read much about it, but I'm pretty sure there's a connection between that and one of his most recent concerts where:
Delete- He was over an hour late........to his own concert.
- He performed 2 or 3 songs.
- He complained about Beyoncé and Jay-Z voting for Hillary Clinton.
- He said that he did not vote, but if he did he would've voted for Trump.
- He then ended the concert
THE FINAL ROUND IS READY FOR YOUR VOTES! PLEASE VOTE!

Unavailable for vote on hits 1:
ReplyDeleteColdplay-Hymn for the weekend
Lady Gaga-Perfect illusion
I don't think that HFTW was ever available for vote. Perfect Illusion wasn't available for vote for the past couple of weeks.

ReplyDeleteGood job Stevie u changed False Alarm!

DeleteBoth.
DeleteDJ KHALED announced on his Snapchat story that he's working on a new album.
ReplyDeleteAlready? That was fast.
Sorry that wasn't supposed to be in caps. Stupid auto correct on my phone.
DeleteAnother one.
DeleteFun fact: Right after HandClap played on Hit-Bound, Let it Go and IKWYDLS played back-to-back.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I think both of those have a good chance at the final Top 45.
DeleteAnd dat new profile pic 8)
It's the #1 on #40Friday.
DeleteFALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey)
DeleteFALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey)
FALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey hey)
WAAAAAAAAA-
FALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey)
FALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey)
FALSE ALARM!!! (hey hey hey hey hey)
WAAAAAAAAA!
So you (really) like that song? Cool.
DeleteAlso, have you checked any of the recent #40Fridays? You haven't commented lately...
And also, the alarm used in the beginning of the song is the same as my local fire department's. :P
DeleteHonestly I guess I just don't really get around to reading all these personal charts, what with how busy I tend to be and all. Nothing personal.
DeleteI just heard 24K Magic on my local Hip hop/R&B station. Why is it not on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart then?
ReplyDeleteSometimes songs from different genres play on other genres' stations. For example, Kworb says that 24K Magic is #33 on the Spanish radio charts (recurrents).
DeleteWeekend Countdown finally out!
ReplyDeleteThis week was the worst week EVER.
ReplyDeleteWhy becuase your favorite song jumped out of the top 10? Same man.
DeleteThis week was okay, it really was the biggest jump and #1 that ruined it.
DeleteThis week was bad because...
Delete•4 of my top 5 picks dropped (a big or small drop)
•Fresh Eyes enteredthe top 10
•Death of A Bachelor happy the well undeserved biggest jump
•New Romantics got out of the countdown
•all the top 10 drop outs got replaced by 1 great song (Scars To Your Beautiful [not complaining about this]) two OK songs (Death of a bachelor and 24k Magic) and one REALLY bad song (Fresh Eyes)!
Song on my mix with a lot of hit bound, Rock and rhythm, and teen pop:
ReplyDeleteFresh Eyes(Peak: 7)
That's My Girl(Peak: 18)
Death of a bachelor(Peak: 9)
Chase You Down(Peak: 20)
GreenLight(Peak: 16)
Let me guess:
DeleteFresh Eyes (Rhythm)
That's My Girl (Teen Pop)
Death Of A Bachelor (Rock and Rythym)
Chase You Down (I'm not sure maybe… Rythym?)
Greenlight (Teen Pop)
I may sound stupid when asking this, but what mix are you talking about?
DeleteActully, that they are all in the same category-A LOT of hit-bound!, some rock, some ryrthm, and some teen pop
DeleteOn the SiriusXM app you can create custom channels based off of regular channels like Hits 1.
DeleteThey have something similar on Spotify, called your daily mix. They make ones depending on the genres you like. I have a hip hop one, a pop/EDM one, and an alternative one. It's not easy to guess the only one I really listen to.
DeleteI'm announcing the Hot 100 so far later again. :P
ReplyDeleteAlright, Charles.
DeleteSTEVIE!

DeleteThis Week in Billboard Chart History: In 2012, Rihanna's 'Diamonds' Ruled the Hot 100
ReplyDeleteThe song helped spark her first No. 1 album, "Unapologetic." Plus, remembering feats by The Beatles, Elvis Presley & Pearl Jam.
Nov. 28, 2009
Let's hear it for New York! Seven years ago today, Jay Z and Alicia Keys began a five-week command of the Billboard Hot 100 with "Empire State of Mind."
Nov. 29, 1969
The Beatles scored their 18th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, all in the '60s, with the iconic "Come Together." The following year, they'd add their final two toppers, upping their total to a still-record 20 No. 1 hits.
Nov. 30, 1991
Genesis returned with its first album in five years (since 1986's Invisible Touch), as We Can't Dance opened at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the band's only top 10 debut. The set would spin off the Phil Collins-sung hits "No Son of Mine," "I Can't Dance," "Hold On My Heart," "Jesus He Knows Me" and "Never a Time."
Dec. 1, 2012
A shining star: Rihanna earned her 12th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 (of 14 to date) with "Diamonds." The song (co-written by Sia) ushered in Rihanna's first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, Unapologetic.
Dec. 2, 1995
Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men began the longest reign in the 58-year history of the Billboard Hot 100, as "One Sweet Day" spent its first of 16 weeks (or, 112 sweet days) atop the tally.
Dec. 3, 1977
Just weeks after his passing, Elvis Presley collected his record 80th, and last, top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit, as "My Way" rose 48-38 on its way to a No. 22 peak.
Dec. 4, 1993
Pearl Jam tallied its first Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1, as "Daughter" spent its first of eight weeks at the chart's summit.

ReplyDeleteWhat are the top-selling holiday songs?
10. Wham! - Last Christmas
9. Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock
8. Jose Feliciano - Feliz Navidad
7. Faith Hill - Where Are You Christmas
6. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Canon
5. Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
4. Justin Bieber - Mistletoe
3. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)
2. Kristen Bell/Agatha Lee Monn/Katie Lopez - Do You Want to Build a Snowman*
1. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas is You
*from Frozen.
Not a shock to see Last Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, and All I Want For Christmas Is You, but I am shocked to see Mistletoe and Do You Want To Build A Snowman and not Carol Of The Bells.

Delete28. Bad Things
Delete29. This Town
35. Mercy
73. That's My Girl (FINALLY!)
Have a feeling the latter three are thanks to the AMAs.
DeleteSo if it weren't for the Mannequin Challenge, Uptown Funk would've lost its title of longest-running #1 of the decade AND 2nd longest of all time to Closer. Thank the lord above for that, because it does NOT deserve that (if you think it does because of the overplay and nothing else, then that's just sad).
34. Love on the Brain (Graham will be happy)
DeleteBody Moves at #49. Lol.
Delete27. Do You Mind
Delete49. Stop it and shut up.
Anyone know about Bad and Boujee or Look Alive yet?
DeleteNope.
DeleteDo You Mind is on the mainstream radio now so expect it to become a big hit soon.
DeleteCharles, please be nice to me.
DeleteWait is Body Moves #49? I'm guessing not but just making sure.
DeleteHe was joking...
DeleteBody Moves isn't #49, it's #100. Lol.
DeleteStop it!
DeleteWhat are you talking about? Heathens is #100!
Delete…I wish…
Just found out today that my school winter dance is this Friday. I'm probably going to go and review that playlist.
ReplyDeleteI don't have school on Friday.
DeleteLucky! Why not?
DeleteParent/teacher conferences, I think.

DeleteI thought you were 22.
Delete^
DeleteMaybe college?
And we had patent teacher conferences a few weeks ago.
And you have school dances in 7th grade? I'm in 7th and I've never had any school dances.
DeleteWhen we had ours, they said that people with good enough grades didn't need one. And I was one of those. HOWEVER, my mom wanted to get one anyway, and I felt like I just wasn't good enough in some ways.
DeleteOurs are mandatory which is stupid no matter how good your grades are.
DeleteAnd no surprise, Chase just removed the comment.
I had school dances in 6th grade (elementary school, not middle school, and) and at the first one the fog machine set the fire alarm off. I have a video of it actually. And dates aren't common at my school dances so far.
DeleteHaha that's funny. There's people dating definitely in my grade but just no school dances.
DeleteI just realized something: "...it's a false ALARM!!!..."
DeleteGraham: Same!
DeleteWell there are school dances but there are a lot of couples at my school.
Delete.: Lol I get it!
DeleteParker: Same but many have broken up. And it's more like their friends than actually dating. Like most are embarrassed to even talk to each other.

HandBlurb:
So, could Starving be our new #1? That would be quite interesting, I wouldn't have expected it to be at #1 when it debuted, and not even the top 5.
The number of Hit-Bound spins are not looking good. It all comes down to tomorrow when Hit-Bound music usually starts playing more. Will we have 0 debuts or will we have like 5 debuts? Or maybe in between? (Probably in between)
Probably none.
DeleteParker, why has'nt there been a not hip hop/R and b/Rap song on COAEP?
ReplyDeletehttp://chilloutandeatpizza.blogspot.com/p/records.html
DeleteSo, what are you saying?
DeleteThat there are a lot of non-hip hop songs that were on COAEP. Some even hit #1.
DeleteBut not lately.
DeleteBecause I've been listening to a lot of hip hop lately.
Deletebut i want to see more of a variety.
DeleteCOAEP News so far:
ReplyDelete- One entrant, and it will be from YG's new mixtape Red Friday.
- And a new #1 song. IDK what it will be yet, but I know it won't be Key To The Streets or Want Her. One of the possibilities is a song that's not in the top 5.
Here's a clue for the debut:
Delete"I be on bullshit, I be on bullshit, I be on bullshit..."
YG/21 Savage - I Be On
DeleteI searched up "Red Friday". I didn't even have to listen to the song to figure out what it was.
Correct. Love that song right now.
DeleteI made a randomizer between 1-45, with each number corresponding to the countdown positions. I would split the numbers into groups of 2 so the first number would be the main artist of the song corresponding to the number on the countdown and the second would be featured. It's confusing but here were the randomizer results:
ReplyDeletePanic! at the Disco ft. The Chainsmokers
DNCE ft. Sia
The Chainsmokers ft. Andy Grammer
OneRepublic ft. Martin Garrix
Ariana Grande ft. Adele
Calvin Harris ft. DJ Snake
Gnash ft. Alessia Cara

Fifth Harmony ft. Justin Timberlake
Major Lazer ft. The Weeknd
Twenty One Pilots ft. Shawn Mendes
Pitbull ft. Ariana Grande
X Ambassadors ft. Maroon 5
Lady Gaga ft. Jon Bellion

DeleteFor no reason.

DeleteThat seriously has nothing to do with the billboard, Parker.
DeleteActually he is right. The song was released back in 1996 of the album of the same name, and he actually did a remix of the song in honor of the 20th anniversary of the album and song earlier this month.

ReplyDelete4 months after the song came out, the video for Let Me Love You has finally been released.
Before I start on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs post this week, I have something way more important to do. I'm going to go on Instagram and block every single person who has commented nonsense on my photos or has said stupid shit to me at school. Please wish me luck with this because the outcome is probably not going to be a pretty one.
ReplyDeleteOkay?
DeleteWhat happened?

That's what mine said too!
DeleteYeah same.
DeleteTry Again, I changed it,
DeleteHitbound spins:
ReplyDeleteWords: 1
Water Under The Bridge: 1
Love On The Brain: 2
I'm sorry Miles, but I have to agree that we need some more debuts.
Yeah, I agree. More debuts = more activity.
DeleteBut I remember one week, I think it was the week that Greenlight debuted, that Hit-Bound songs started playing more often on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. So maybe that will happen this week.
I expect a lot of 6+ exit weeks during 2017.
DeleteAnd 2018, lol.
DeleteIDK about 2018
DeleteYou know, I may have said this before, but I feel like one of two things has led to the countdown activity faltering this year: one, people think the quality of music this year declined from the last couple years. Two, the advent of streaming having taken over the music industry which has become THE most prominent way to get music consumption and made the others, like sales and radio, less important.
DeleteNot trying to say that's a good excuse for things slipping, but I'm saying this surely might have something to do with it.
Oh, because the music is nowadays rap.
DeleteAnd Hits 1 is losing popularity.
DeleteWell, let's bring the Hits 1 popularity back.
DeletePlus the good music.
DeleteOh yeah, and the advent of streaming has taken over the music industry in 2014 and we still had 7 exit weeks during 2015, so I think that it's this year's music quality.
DeleteIronically, December 3, 2011 had no exits.
ReplyDeleteSHUT THE **** UP
Deleteoh, and as i was saying that, Watch me whip(Nae Nae) came on from the prediction video i was watching... Even more joy...
Here's proof.
Deletehttp://hits1countdownreview.blogspot.com/2011/12/blogger-deleted-my-post-from-last-week.html?m=1
SHUT UP!
DeleteI DID NOT ASK FOR PROOF!
And it was actually December 2, 2011.
DeleteHow is that ironic???
DeleteBecause it's the same week of the year.
DeleteWell, December 3, 2011 and 2016 are both Saturdays.
