The Chainsmokers (6) – Week Of November 19, 2016

Thanksgiving is approaching us very quickly. And with that comes a 5-day weekend for me. So that could be some time to get caught up on some things I'm behind on. Also, I plan to watch the American Music Awards, which will take place tomorrow night. Since I'll be watching that, I will not see The Walking Dead. So if anyone here watches The Walking Dead, please do not leave any spoilers in the comment section. I will not appreciate it if you do. Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Adele – Hello

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills (–14)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Bastille – Good Grief (+23)

New Entrants
~ Our lone new entrant this week happens to the return of Martin Garrix. This week he brings In The Name Of Love featuring Bebe Rexha. Bebe Rexha definitely has a really strong voice like she pretty much always does. The drop is really fun and catchy. Martin Garrix (alongside being a relatively good-looking individual) is actually a really talented DJ and it's nice to hear from him again. Here's to hoping this song can become the massive hit it should be.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Lukas Graham – You're Not There (DEBUT)
  • Daya – Words
  • Gavin DeGraw – She Sets The City On Fire
  • Rihanna – Love On The Brain
  • Captain Cuts – Love Like We Used To
  • Calum Scott – Dancing On My Own (DEBUT)
  • Dua Lipa – Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
  • Adele – Water Under The Bridge (DEBUT)
  • Train – Play That Song
  • Lady Gaga – Million Reasons
  • John Legend – Love Me Now
  • The Summer Set – The Night Is Young
  • James Arthur – Say You Won't Let Go
  • Shawn Mendes – Mercy

~ On a sad note, we say goodbye to Ellie Goulding – Still Falling For You this week. You served us well on Hit-Bound and you will be remembered. On a not-so-sad note, we also say goodbye to Jason Derulo – Kiss The Sky. To say this song was annoying is an understatement. To say it was so fucking annoying to the point where it was unbearable is more accurate.

~ Lukas Graham – You're Not There is without a doubt a huge step up from the mediocre and annoying Mama Said. Is anything amazing? Not really. But it is at the very least listenable and it could possibly become a favorite of mine at some point. Time will tell on that.

~ Calum Scott is definitely a talented singer and Dancing On My Own is a good song. But it really isn't something you'd wanna hear on the radio and I have a hard time seeing it on this list of the 45 Biggest Songs in North America. But it is good.

~ Send My Love (To Your New Lover) by Adele got old pretty quickly mainly because of how few instruments were used, making the song pretty boring. That is not the case with Water Under The Bridge. This song is definitely an enjoyable listen and I glad it was released as a single.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Adele – Water Under The Bridge
2. Gavin DeGraw – She Sets The City On Fire
3. Shawn Mendes – Mercy
4. Lady Gaga – Million Reasons
5. Lukas Graham – You're Not There

In The Name Of Blurbs
~ Honestly, I feel like Hailee Steinfeld & Grey/Zedd – Starving is being ranked way too high. I mean, it's a good song. But really? The #2 song in North America? I have some doubts about that.

~ So Ariana Grande – Into You is back in the Top 10 yet again. Nothing interesting there. What I do find interesting is the jump to #8 from OneRepublic – Kids. Nowadays, any OneRepublic song that hits the countdown needs to enter the Top 10 at some point. But I am actually happy to see this song in the Top 10. It's certainly an enjoyable track.

~ North America is doing a good thing by keeping Bruno Mars – 24K Magic out of the Top 10. Either it's being caused by a lack of votes from North America, or it's because I gave the song a bad rating on the survey everyone that's a part of the Wutchuwant Crew receives. Either way, I am happy to see this.

~ Our #15 and #25 songs have swapped places this week, and not for the better of this countdown. I find Death Of A Bachelor to be 100x better than Fresh Eyes. If we had a vocal showdown between Brendon Urie and Andy Grammer, I think it's pretty obvious who will come out on top by a long shot. (Hint: It's the one with the better song.)

~ The Weeknd/Daft Punk – Starboy has finally taken a well deserved jump into the Top 20. Frankly this song is being really underrated. The fact that this is only #20 and we have songs like Starving at #2 is pretty interesting to me. Hits 1, you need to seriously figure out what is wrong with that statement.

~ I really didn't anticipate Bastille – Good Grief to have such a big jump into the Top 20 on week two. Maybe it will become this huge hit like Pompeii. But I still have my doubts and I would kind of prefer if it didn't. But I can live with it for now.

~ Looks like Runaground – Chase You Down in the Top 20 did not last long. Oh well.

~ Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills has finally dropped out of the Top 30. It's about damn time!

~ And somehow Lady Gaga – Perfect Illusion is still here.

~ Thank you voters for getting a huge piece of trash off of this countdown. I can definitely see myself putting Kiiara – Gold in the Bottom 5 Songs of 2016. Kiiara, you tried making a catchy first single and it didn't really work out. It probably won't work out the second time either, but the third time's the charm!

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is currently being worked on. The entire chart is written. I just need to finish the Future Hitz and add in all the album covers. So hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow.

Also, Black Friday is my Semi-Formal dance, so I may have a review of the playlist.

    2. Because he heard it too much on the radio. Remember, he talked about it since the beginning of last month. Same thing happened with Dangerous Woman during the Spring/Summer.

It's time for me to take it
    I'm the boss right now
    Not gonna fake it
    Not when you go down
    'Cause this is my game
And you better come to play
I used to hold my freak back
    Now I'm letting go
    I make my own choice
    Bitch, I run this show
    So leave the lights on
No, you can't make me behave
    So you say I'm complicated
That I must be outta my mind
    But you had me underrated

What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being
    What's wrong with being confident?
What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being
    What's wrong with being confident?
It's time to get the chains out
    Is your tongue tied up?
    'Cause this is my ground
    And I'm dangerous
    And you can get out
But it's all about me tonight
    So you say I'm complicated
That I must be outta my mind
    But you had me underrated
    Rated, rated
What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being

  11. Countdown review

The exit was WAY surprising to me. I was expecting perfect illusion to get out. So yeah I'll kinda miss Gold just for being a fun song to sing to.

Our lone entry this week is In the name Of Love. This is a really great song and I hope this has a lot of success on the countdown.

Yeah I was expecting Dangerous Woman to jump cause I heard it like 7 times this week, but This Is What You Came For Jumping?!? I say a big fat NO!

Yay for We Don't Talk Anymore jumping!!!

Kinda sad for Cheap Thrills and Don't Let Me Down for dropping, especially Don't Let Me Down. :'( But CAN'T STOP THE FEELING's drop was a little pleasing.

OUCH! JEEZ HITS ONE!! Why did you make Chase You Down and Setting The World On Fire drop right after they came into the top 20?!?

I'm not happy that All Time Low and Green Light held there spots. They deserve to jump and be higher.

WHY THE HECK IS THAT'S MY GIRL DROPPING!?!?!?!?!? This isn't acceptable

And why is Body Moves jumping? I hope this doesn't become overrated like a certain song. *coughs* treat you better *coughs*

Nice jump from the Weeknd - Starboy into the top 20. Same response to Ride, Side to Side, and congrats to Good Greif for having the biggest jump this week.

I'm super sad that The Greatest dropped out of the top ten.

*thinking when the radio was on #25* Fresh Eyes better not get in the top 20. *Looks at #15* *pissed off* THIS IS THE WORST SONG THIS WEEK!!!!!!!! THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT PEOPLE VOTED FOR THIS SONG TO GO THIS HIGH IN THE TOP 20!!!! HITS ONE HAS TO STOP BEING BIAS TO CRAP SONGS LIKE THIS!!!! *calmed down* Hey . add Fresh Eyes to my list of "songs I hate on the countdown" aka Treat You Better and Fresh Eyes.

I find it hilarious that 24k Magic is sooooooo close to the top 10 but then it drops. Haha! Scott is probably mad at this misfortune.

Woah I didn't expect to have Scars To Your Beautiful drop out of the top 10. Oh well, at least it made room for a better song...

WOOHOO YEAH!!!! LET'S GO KIDS!!!!! HAHA YES!!! NOW TOWARDS THE TOP 5!! I have to admit this song has a better chance of hitting #1 then Hymn For The Weekend.

ANOTHER WOOHOO YAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!! TREAT YOU BETTER IS OUT OF THE TOP SPOT!!!!!!

Awesome! Hits One introduced a new way to say what song was #1 last year. I like it. It's pretty lit.

And welcome back Closer to the top spot! I would prefer Starving but hey, at least it isn't Treat You Better.

Am I the only person who likes We Don't Talk Anymore, Cheap Thrills, Don't Let Me Down, and Unsteady??

    Top 5 picks
    1. The Greatest
    2. Hymn For The Weekend
    3. Kids
    4. All Time Low
    5. That's My Girl

The Summer Set – The Night Is Young (Blue)
James Arthur – Say You Won't Let Go (Green)
      Shawn Mendes – Mercy (Green)

Dancing On My Own is nice and very classy. It sounds like something I would play in orchestra.

You're Not There is better than Mama said in every way possible but definitely not as great of a song as 7 years.

Water Under the bridge is like You're Not There but x20 better. The similarly is this: like You're Not There, it's better than Hello but definitely not as great of a song as When We Were Young.

I finally listened to Love Like We Used To and it's really, really catchy!! It's great. Really good first impression, Captain Cuts.

I lost interest in The Night Is Young. Figure Me Out will ALWAYS be their best song and it will ALWAYS be great.

  20. Do you recall, not long ago
We would walk on the sidewalk?
    Innocent, remember?
All we did was care for each other
    But the night was warm
    We were bold and young
    All around, the wind blows
We would only hold on to let go
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
What will we do when we get old?
Will we walk down the same road?
Will you be there by my side?
Standing strong as the waves roll over
    But the nights are long
Longing for you to come home
    All around the wind blows
We would only hold on to let go
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
All we need is somebody to lean on
(We need someone to lean on)
All we need is somebody to lean on
Lean on, lean on, lean on, lean on
    Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
We need someone to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun
All we need is somebody to lean on
Blow a kiss, fire a gun

You know I've been gettin' money if you know me
When I first met my plug, I told him, "I piss a hundred G's"
I ain't comin' to get it unless you got a hundred piece
I don't want it, fuck it, your price, you need to cut it
Your ice, you need to tuck it, she fuck with me, she lucky
A half a million, all 20s in that Gucci luggage
Let's skip the small talk, it's time to talk numbers
Young n***a playin' with commas, might go get a Lamb for the summer
I've been outchea in these streets all my life hustlin'
My n***a beefin' then I'm beefin', wrong or right I'm bustin'
      My traphouse, I love it
Put some Forgis on my old school and I had to gut it
But should I put a roof in?
Cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it
Cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it
Them bricks is way too hot, you need to cut it
Your price is way too high, you need to cut it
Cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it
Cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it
Them bricks is way too hot, you need to cut it
Your price is way too high, you need to cut it

  27. Hey Parker:

    Days when
We'd fight, we'd fight 'til i would give in
    Yeah, perfect disasters
We Were reaching, reaching for the rafters

And on most of the days we were searching for ways
to get up and get out of the town that we were raised, Yeah
    'cause we were done
i remember, we were sleeping in cars, we were searching for OZ
we were burning cigars with white plastics 'til we saw the sun
And we said crazy things like

i refuse to look back thinking days were better
    just because they're younger days
    I don't know what's 'round the corner
Way i Feel now i swear we'll never change
    Back when we were kids
    Swore we would never die
    you and me were kids
    Swore that we'll never die

    Nights when we kept dancing
    Changing all our plans
and making every day a holiday
    feel the years start burning
    city lights they're turning
something 'bout this feels the same

    Back when we were kids
    swore we would never die
    you and me were kids
    swear that we'll never die
i refuse to look back thinking days were better
    just because they're younger days
