~ While I definitely think The Night Is Young is better than Figure Me Out, I still don't think it's that amazing. I just can't get on board with this guy's voice. ~ I did not see the jump into the Top 3 from Major Lazer/Justin Bieber/MØ – Cold Water coming. But I'll accept it. It's definitely better than what we've had here in the Top 5 previously (i.e. Sit Still, Look Pretty, Cheap Thrills, etc.).
~ Also in the Top 5, we have my favorite song on the countdown in the form of Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend! I'm so glad we managed to get this song into the Top 5! I have never seen a Coldplay song do so well on this countdown and I'm very happy that I got to witness it with Hymn For The Weekend. As much as I love all of their music, Hymn For The Weekend definitely has a spot in my Top 10 favorite songs from them. Coldplay is just amazing. I absolutely love them. It'd be a miracle if this hit #1, which I HIGHLY doubt it will. But it'd be nice. But I'm happy that it reached the Top 5.
~ Why is the ugly Gold by Kiiara jumping??? I was listening to this song yesterday on Hits 1 and it was so boring and frankly, very annoying. I personally don't see what people like about this song. But to each their own, I guess.
~ Words cannot even describe how annoyed I get when I hear the beginning line, "Baby, this is what you came for." Thank god it dropped this week. That jump to #4 two weeks ago was pretty damn scary. Now we just need to get it out of the countdown.
~ I'm not very pleased to The Weeknd/Daft Punk – Starboy drop to #30. This song is really popular and really good. Why underrate The Weeknd's good songs??? Hits 1 already underrated The Hills big time despite it being very successful across the country. I'd like to not see Starboy follow that path.
~ Of course Runaground – Chase You Down has to drop on its second week. This is quality music right here being underrated. I want to see a song like this one be successful, so it's not always the same artists towards the top of the chart.
~ I'm glad Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza is still here going strong. I definitely think it's one of the best songs of the year and at this point, I'll pretty much never get sick of it.
~ After the huge drop from Flume/Kai – Never Be Like You, I kind of started to get bored listening to the song. It's okay at the moment. But I will start to get tired of it at some point in the near future. It was mainly the beat that grabbed my attention at first and now that's starting to fade.
~ We have four really bad/old songs in the Bottom 5 that need to leave, like next week. Poor Demi Lovato – Body Say is being sandwiched between them. But seriously, it'd be amazing to see these four songs all leave in the same week, kind of like when Selena Gomez's two bad songs (Kill Em With Kindness and Hands To Myself) both left in the same week.
~ As far as the exit goes, I'm very glad No has finally left us and we can have a nice countdown without a trashy Meghan Trainor song. I thought No could be the start of something new for Meghan Trainor. Something better. But no, clearly not. Same trashiness as when All About That Bass was a thing. Gross.

Oh right, I almost forgot about the SeeB remix of HFTW jumping and Adrian gushing once again about Coldplay. Again, I see the appeal of the original, but I judge the Hits 1 based on what Hits 1 plays, not the original.
ReplyDeleteAs I said before, it does kind of make sense why they have the Seeb remix, because I believe they probably thought a faster, more dance-able song is what people would rather have playing in their car, as opposed to the slower original. Someone said the same thing about why I Hate U I Love U uses the Deepend Remix.
DeleteYeah, but it weakens what the original was intended to do, not everything needs a remix and turned into a generic EDM monster. I believe the era of strong EDM in 2012-2014 has long past, and these remixes are not gonna bring them back. I don't like the SeeB remix, and I am not a fan of the Deepend Remix of I Hate U, I Love U, I am much more a fan of the original, plain and simple. If Hits 1 wants to play the remixes that's fine, but I'm not gonna grade them on the original, I'm grading them on what they play. And before anyone uses the ITAPII argument, everyone was playing that remix. And the remix was fine, but it did get old, especially for me.

The production is amazing, thanks largely to Daft Punk ,the Weeknd is amazing as always, and the lyrics of wanting to kill the Weeknd's old persona, perhaps a sign that the Weeknd is trying to reinvent himself in preparation for the upcoming album.

I had the same case with Starboy, I loved it at first (it almost debuted at #1 on #40Friday) and it just left this week. And I thought that no song peaking at #2 would spend less time on my chart than Cool Girl.

Just because it has no success on Hits 1 doesn't mean its unsuccessful anywhere else. Its currently #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, just behind Closer, which calculates streaming, airplay, sales, and YouTube. Hell, I care more about the biggest songs in America than some second rate satellite radio station that "allegedly" has the 45 biggest songs in North America based on out votes and the Wutchuwant crew.

DeleteWell yeah, but you have to think, Hits 1 is a POP station, where they mostly play POP music. That's another reason I don't tend to like Hits 1, they have a simple bias towards pop, and against other genres. That's why I gravitate and spend more time on the Billboard Hot 100 posts compared to the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown. It takes me 3 days at the most to post the Hot 100, but less than a day for the Weekend Countdown.

DeleteExplicit versions of most songs are better. Some exceptions are DNCE - Cake By the Ocean and Nick Jonas - Jealous. (Both by Jonas brothers, coincidentally)

My Halloween was good. I went trick or treating with my parents, brother, and our neighbors. I was a zombie and my brother was Darth Vader. I had to quit a little early though so I could go to my friend's house for a while.

Mark Ronson did not take that kindly. He thought they were up and in on Gaga again. But it turned out that The Chainsmokers were back in America, is all.
And on another Mark Ronson related note... Uptown Funk was sued by an 80's funk band named Collage. I had never heard of this band before then, but yeah, seeing as the song's popularity died out at the end of last year, this comes off as little more than a cash grab attempt. He'll be fine.
Oh yeah, I heard about that Collage thing. Their songs aren't on Spotify, so I didn't get to listen to their music.
