Taylor Swift (5) – Week Of February 28, 2015

Earlier this week, I was told that as of March 23, 2015, Blogger would no longer allow sexually explicit content on any blogs, not that that's a problem for this blog. But I think they just changed that and announced this change earlier this week instead March 23. I honestly don't know. But it doesn't really matter anyways because it doesn't apply to us. New Entrants
~ Eden XO is back with the extremely unappealing song, The Weekend. Too Cool To Dance was pretty catchy and a fun song to jam out to. But this song right here is crap. Hopefully, it won't stay long.

~ Apparently, to Hits 1, one week without Ariana Grande is too long without Ariana Grande. She debuted once again this week with One Last Time. Not as good as Love Me Harder. This one is alright. I definitely there are better songs on that album of her's. For now though, this is really just another song.

~ Next we have returning artist, Flo Rida, who debuted with Goin' Down For Real, or GDFR. This song is pretty catchy. I'll give it that. But this is nothing compared to Right Round featuring Ke$ha and Wild Ones featuring Sia. Those two are the best I've ever heard from Flo Rida. And it's pretty hard for him to beat that. I wouldn't say GDFR is better than How I Feel either. That one was another really catchy one from late 2013. But GDFR is at least better than Good Feeling and Can't Believe It.

~ Last, but definitely not least, we have the first song I've ever enjoyed from Walk The Moon. It's called Shut Up and Dance. This song was really popular on Alt Nation as it was a five-time #1 song on the Alt-18 countdown. It's super catchy. It just makes you wanna get and move, or really Shut Up and Dance! I expect some success from this song.

Let's Not Blurb Alone Tonight
~ Priory – Weekend aired so little that I thought it would leave this week. But no, it actually moved up!

~ The success Life Of Dillon – Overload clearly didn't last very long, unfortunately.

~ Lilly Wood & The Prick/Robin Schulz – Prayer In C clearly isn't getting anywhere on this countdown, even though it's in the Top 10 on the American Top 40.

~ I've had enough of Fall Out Boy – Centuries. It needs to leave the Top 5 NOW!!!

~ LunchMoney Lewis – Bills and Charli XCX – Boom Clap were neck-and-neck for which song is worse. Even though the latter has been marked as the worst, that could change some time in the near future.

~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama and Zedd/Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know has aired quite a few times this week. Yet it has not entered Hit-Bound. And there are a bunch of other songs currently in that situation. Maybe if we get rid of songs like AJR – Infinity, we can solve some of these problems.

~ Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire and Sam Smith – Lay Me Down are two songs that do not air at all over the course of the week. They just sit there at the University of Hit-Bound, doing nothing to try and graduate.

~ Here's a mini review of Tori Kelly – Nobody Love:
Chorus: 10/10
Verses: 4/10
Bridge: 9/10
Overall: 7.6/10
Percentage: 76%
Overall Grade: C

And that is my opinion about Tori Kelly – Nobody Love.

~ Interesting Fact: Nova Rockafeller – Made In Gold is featured on the soundtrack for the movie, The Duff. Same with The Vamps/Demi Lovato – Somebody To You.

~ Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud needs to drop already so I can stop sweating it out every week thinking it will hit #1.

~ So on Thursday, someone posted a picture of a dress saying that them and their friends couldn't agree on what color it was. It was either blue and black or white and gold. Here is a picture of the dress.

~ Those of you saying white and gold, I don't know where you're seeing white. It's obviously blue and black. Perhaps it's the light in the backround that makes it look lighter, so people think it's white. I honestly don't know. Even celebrities have been taking it to Twitter. Here's a tweet from our #1 artist, Taylor Swift:

~ Here's a tweet from Justin Bieber:

~ Here's a tweet from Anna Kendrick:

Displaying photo.PNG

~ Here's one from Demi Lovato:

Displaying photo.PNG

~ Finally, here's one from Kim Kardashian:

Displaying photo.PNG

As you can probably tell (not by these tweets), it's evenly cut in half between people saying blue and black and people saying white and gold. I personally see blue and black. But one of my friends said she saw white and gold at first, but then a little while later she looked at the same picture and saw blue and black. She then insisted that the picture changed. But I had to explain that pictures don't just magically change color and that it doesn't work like that and something must've happened to her eyes.

I'm not gonna lie, I got into a few arguments yesterday about this topic, which is really stupid by the way. But here is the answer everyone has been awaiting: The dress is blue and black!!!

Here's a New York Times article that says it's blue and black: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/28/business/a-simple-question-about-a-dress-and-the-world-weighs-in.html

Here's a WGN article saying it's blue and black: http://wgntv.com/2015/02/26/what-color-is-this-dress-the-latest-viral-sensation-frustration/

Basically, this dress can be found on amazon.com and it is listed as "royal blue". I hope this can end this huge debate and make people realize that it is blue and black so World War III doesn't begin. But here's a pic of the original dress:

Roman Women's Lace Detail Bodycon Dress Royal Blue (Amazon)

My Top 5 Picks
1. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good
2. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance
3. Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney – FourFiveSeconds
4. Life Of Dillon – Overload
5. Hozier – Take Me To Church

  3. These are the songs hits one needs to get.
    Olly murs/demi levato-up
    Robin Shultz/Jasmine Thompson-Sun goes down
    Bea miller-fire and gold
    Bea Miller-Dracula
    Bea Miller-open your eyes
    Bea Miller- enemy fire
    Bea Miller-rich kids
    Betty who- runways
Zedd/Selena gomez-i want you to know
    Skylar stecker-rooftop.
Ever since I heard young blood by bea Miller, I loved it so much that I looked up her other songs. I know hits one plays fire and gold, and I want you to know, but they are not on the countdown or hitbound. I also know that up and Sun goes down are on YouTube 15.
Please look up these songs and tell me what you think. Now some questions for Adrian, is oh Cecilia the only song to be on YouTube 15, hitbound, and the countdown? Was beg for it ever on hitbound? Did hits one ever have lorde-tennis courts on the countdown?
    -ommy
P.S. I also see white and gold.

    1. 1. Oh Cecilia is probably the only song to have that distinction.
      2. I think Beg For It was on Hitbound.
      3. Tennis Court was never on the Weekend Countdown, unfortunately. Team, however, re-entered the countdown TWICE!!!!

    2. I'm An Albatraoz and Fun I believe were on Hit-Bound and YouTube15 too right? All About It was also on YouTube15, Hit-Bound, and the countdown.

    One more thing:
Trance, I don't quite know what you meant when you said:
"Next week on the Weekend Countdown…
    Are you #TeamAdrian or #TeamThatchos?"
That makes it sound like there's some type of "feud."
    We don't disagree on everything!
We both love Overload, FourFiveSeconds, Outside, and Chains!
We both dislike THE Weekend and Tuesday!
    I'm just a bit confused…
But if I had to choose, I'd be #TeamAdrian. :)

    Aaaaaand that's it for me!
    Thanks for reading!

    5. 5. Heck, I'd rather have Centuries back at #1 than Blank Space again. I'm just being honest.
      6. Speaking of which, what's the longest amount of time between weeks that a song spent at #1? The longest I can think of is Timber, which had a 4-week gap between its eighth and ninth weeks at #1.
      7. Anybody else remember Adrian's Theorem of No Hitbound = No #1? Well, that has been proven wrong by Centuries, Blank Space, Shake It Off, Maps, Love Runs Out, Too Long of a Title, maybe Payphone, etc. No offense, it just randomly popped up into my head……

So I put up a poll on the right side bar. You guys have a day to vote for which song is better. If there's another tie, I will pick which song is better to me because we have to keep this competition moving. So go and vote.

  58. Guys…I have something serious to talk about. It's a long story, but bear with me.
Throughout the last couple months of 2014 I got to know someone "special." I won't mention real names, but I'll just call her Brenda. During that time Brenda and I didn't talk much, I just got to…introduce myself to her.
In mid-December I actually found out that by the next semester Brenda would be transferring to my school.
    ……I was excited. Really excited.
Not long later I saw Brenda at a basketball game, and we talked a bit. It turned out we had a lot in common. And by a lot, I really mean A LOT: love of music, shared interest in Doctor Who, annoyance with T-Swizzle, and much more. After that point I was starting to think that in Brenda I'd found a "partner in crime."
On the first day it turned out Brenda would be sitting right behind me all quarter! The quarter consisted of us talking more, slightly teasing each other, and growing into closer friends.
Over this time I learned that Brenda has a…broken (in lack of a better word) past. The last school she was at lowered her self-esteem by a lot, and her experiences left her feeling scared and unsafe. Her family life wasn't all that great either.
That was about when I really started to fall for her. Not just a crush, I felt that I really loved Brenda. I just wanted to throw my arms around her and tell her that I cared. The only problem's been that she likes someone else: the guy who sits behind her. Let's call him Eddie. But that hasn't gotten in the way of my friendship with Brenda…that is, until today.
I won't say much, but to make a long story short, everybody in my class knows about my "crush" on Brenda now. Even her. And I think that Eddie might be to blame.
There's my long story. The only problem is that I don't know how to react. I wasn't going to tell Brenda how I felt until mid-May at the earliest. But now that the secret is fully out, I don't know what to do now. Should I admit it, deny it, or avoid the topic? Should I still hold on to my feelings, or should I cast them away?
I really would like your input on this. It's really stressing me out, and I don't really know how to feel.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Very interesting story Thatchos. Very interesting. Really what I would say is to not deny it. Lying can only lead to trouble. I would just admit it. If you don't feel comfortable admitting it, I understand. You can just avoid the topic. Whatever you do, just don't deny it.

Also, I don't about you, but when I have feelings for someone, I can't just cast those feelings away. The amount of time it takes for me to get over feelings for someone ranges from a day to a year. Whether it's better to hold on to the feelings or try to get over them, I don't know. I guess I would say to hold on to your feelings unless you're sure you two aren't getting together because you never really know. But if you're sure you two aren't getting together like I was with my crushes. I would say to try and get over the feelings because if you keep them in very much longer knowing that you aren't getting together, they can cause sadness and/or depression. In this situation, it really depends because I don't think you know for sure whether or not she likes you. That's all I can really say right now.
