New Entrants
~ First up we have Dustin Atlas and Erin Bowman with Fake Friends. I've kind of grown out of this one a little bit with how long it was on Hit-Bound. But I'd still consider it to be a good song, I guess. The problem with it is that it's just slightly underwhelming. But other than that, it's enjoyable to a certain extent. I think they did a nice job on the vocals and I like the lyrical content. So yeah. Not much else to say about this one. For now, I can enjoy it for what it is.
~ Next we have returning artists Kendrick Lamar and SZA with the lead single from the Black Panther soundtrack, All The Stars. I've been enjoying this one for quite a while now and I'm glad it finally made its debut. I love the production here. Kendrick Lamar is a great artist and one of the few I currently can stand from the rap genre. His verse is really good. But SZA steals the show here with that awesome chorus and I really like her verse as well. She does take on the majority of the song and I like that because she has a great voice and frankly, she deserves another hit. Overall, I love this song and I really hope it does well here.
~ Finally we have Selena Gomez with Back To You, which is from the soundtrack for season 2 of the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why. I've definitely heard some mixed opinions on the show. I haven't actually watched it and I don't really plan on it, so I can't actually say anything. But either way, I'm here to talk about the music. This new song is pretty good for Selena Gomez, especially compared to the garbage she released last year in the form of Fetish and Bad Liar. There is still some mumbling going on, but there's also more singing going on, which is good. I like the production for the most part. It still doesn't really top her older work. But I'm just glad she finally released something good without the help of Kygo or Marshmello. Given how fast this debuted here, I'm pretty sure it'll do well.

Best Debut of the Week: Kendrick Lamar and SZA – All The Stars
Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list.
- The Wrecks – James Dean
- Meghan Trainor – Let You Be Right
- lovelytheband – Broken
- Echosmith – Over My Head
- Dennis Lloyd – Nevermind (DEBUT)
- 5 Seconds of Summer – Youngblood (DEBUT)
- Sam Smith/Logic – Pray
- Calvin Harris/Dua Lipa – One Kiss
- In Real Life – Tattoo (How 'Bout You)
- Liam Payne/J Balvin – Familiar
- Sugarland/Taylor Swift – Babe
- Cardi B – I Like It (DEBUT)
- Maren Morris – Rich
- Hundred Handed – Too Good
- Portugal. The Man – Live In The Moment
- HRVY – Personal
~ Nevermind has been around for quite a while at this point. It was released almost a year ago. But here it is. I have it in green because I was feeling generous. But this is by no means a great song. First off, it's two and a half minutes. I don't get why artists make short songs like this. I much prefer a song that's four and a half minutes. And the vocals aren't that great. They're good, but nothing that stands out. The song is also very repetitive. But I love the production here, which is why I decided to be nice and put it in green. But it could be demoted to blue at any point in time.
~ Of course any single released by 5 Seconds of Summer is bound to make it onto Hits 1. Here we have Youngblood, which is not as good as Want You Back. This one is also in green because I was being very nice. It's a step down in terms of the production. It could easily change to blue soon. But I'll talk more about if it debuts on the countdown.
~ Now we have more Cardi B as she debuts with I Like It. I will say that it's definitely a step up from some of the shit she has released like Bartier Cardi. But this is still not good. I hate her voice. She sounds so dumb and I know that sounds rude, but it's the truth. She sounds dumb even when she's just talking normally in an interview or something. And I hate the Latin vibe mixed with trap production. I'm particularly picky with Latin songs and this one is just not good. I think Hits 1 edited out Bad Bunny and J Balvin. But frankly, neither of them did any good for the song. So yeah. Not a fan.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Liam Payne/J Balvin – Familiar
2. Portugal. The Man – Live In The Moment
3. The Wrecks – James Dean
4. Sugarland/Taylor Swift – Babe
5. Sam Smith/Logic – Pray
All The Blurbs
~ The beyond mediocre The Middle appears to be back at #1 for some unknown goddamn reason. America slowly continues to disappoint me. This song is NOT GOOD. I can name a hundred EDM tracks that are much better than this that didn't even come close to being as successful. Seriously. It's time to stop this.
~ The rest of the Top 5 looks pretty good though. Whatever It Takes is back up at #2 and hopefully it can be our new #1 song next week. Say Amen and Tell Me You Love Me also made some nice jumps. Both are very welcome.
~ Marshmello/Anne-Marie – Friends appears to have jumped into the Top 10 much to my displeasure. But thankfully, we saw some slight drops from Maroon 5 – Wait and Camila Cabello – Never Be The Same.
~ The big jump back into the Top 20 from Lauv – I Like Me Better was very unnecessary and uncalled for. Once again, I do not see what people could possibly like about this song. It's straight up annoying and the line "I like me better when I'm with you" is just not good. That's not a very good compliment in my opinion.
~ The Weeknd/Kendrick Lamar – Pray For Me made quite a sudden drop out of the Top 20. I will admit that it has been fading on me, but this seemed a little too sudden. But hopefully this means that All The Stars can take over.
~ Noah Kahan/Julia Michaels – Hurt Somebody has randomly hit a new peak at #22. This song does absolutely nothing for me. I'm surprised it's still here. I personally would prefer if it just dropped again because frankly, no one cares about this one. Most people probably don't even know what this is.
~ As far as the exits go, End Game lasted longer than I thought it would. I'm pretty sure it only hit #1 because of Ed Sheeran. Beautiful Trauma was pretty underrated overall, but it did decent here peaking in the Top 10, so I'm happy with that. And finally, Good Old Days was also very underrated everywhere except here. I'm so glad the song did well here because it really is one of the best songs of the year so far. It deserved that one week at the top. Hopefully it did enough to make it onto Hits 1's Top 45 of 2018. Goodbye, Good Old Days. You will surely be missed. I believe these two will be performing it at the Billboard Music Awards. So I look forward to that.

ReplyDeleteFamiliar being #1 on anyone's Hit-Bound list (especially yours) seems so surprising. I like it a lot too though.
ReplyDeleteI grew into it.

ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!
#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Clean Bandit/Demi Lovato - Solo
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they'll get that one soon enough.
DeleteI actually love it.
DeleteI too would've much preferred Want You Back to stay at #1. I will say, very diverse lineup in your Top 5.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, in sports news...
- For Miles, remember how you said that you were hoping the Lightning would beat the Capitals? Well, good news: the Capitals lost last night's game against the Lightning, and now they're 3-2. For the Caps it's now win or go home. I'm just hoping the Lightning don't win it all in the end, because all three of the other teams are without a title. But I too am rooting for the Golden Knights. They're 3-1 and play later today before the BBMAs, so fingers crossed there.
- LeBron and the Cavs blew out the Celtics last night, so now it's 2-1. But whether they'll be able to keep it up is anyone's guess.
- And tonight we'll see if the Rockets can take the lead against the Warriors. At least those who won't be watching the BBMAs will. I can always swap between channels.
- And how about yesterday's Phillies game? We were up 3-0 early on but then the Cardinals erased that deficit and after a rain delay near the end of the fifth inning, they took the lead 6-5 at one point. And just when it looked like we were screwed, we managed to comeback with two more runs in the 8th with 2 outs - both runs scored separately - and win on a nail-biter of a last play. Very solid, and definitely needed after Friday's 12-4 blowout loss.
And we just lost Game 4 of this series 5-1. So much for that.
DeleteAnd Montavis, your Braves just made a crazy comeback in the bottom of the 9th inning against the Marlins. They were behind 9-4 entering the half, and managed to score six runs to win it, the last two of them when they were one strike away from losing. That gives them a further lead in the NL East than just one win. This coming four game series between both our teams will really shake up momentum for the division!

ReplyDelete#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Robert DeLong/K. Flay - Favorite Color Is Blue
ReplyDeleteFor once, I can agree with this.
DeleteThis is the most intelligent thing he has ever said jk
DeleteLol do you know how much the rock posters on Pulse hate that song? Some already claimed it as a lock for #100 in this year’s Alternative chart rankdown.
Deletehttp://pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/174280/robert-delong-flay-favorite-color
I thought that #100 was Sober Up?

Carefully, you might have just angered a thousand rock/alt fans who detest that song, I should know."
Just saying. But doesn't really matter.
Dylan: Sober Up was not on 2017's Alt Year-End.
That was over three months ago, I've moved on, and frankly I don't care what a bunch of idiots on a dumb web forum think. Most of them can go fuck themselves tbh.

DeleteAnd Despacito wins Top Hot 100 Song, despite only being the #2 song for 2017 behind SoY, AKA the far more superior song.
ReplyDeleteThey probably counted the charts for May 2017 to May 2018 only.

"I hate her voice. She sounds so dumb..."
ReplyDeleteAnd Nicki doesn't? Honestly, I prefer Cardi at this point over Nicki, yes Bodak Yellow and Bartier Cardi are crap, but having heard Invasion of Privacy (Unlike most people on here) I'd give it a 7.5/10 tbh, with Ring, Drip, I Do, Best Life and Get Life as the best, with Bartier Cardi and Bodak Yellow as the worst.
And on that note, the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Jets today, and they're going to the Stanley Cup Finals. To think that come the beginning of the season, they were estimated at a 500-1 chance of winning it all. Now they're four wins away. In their debut season no less.
ReplyDeleteNow we wait on the Caps/Lightning. It will end either tomorrow or Wednesday.

At first I thought This Is America sounds like something that you would like for sure, but then I remembered that you not only hated Redbone, but have gone on record about being against when songs get political.
DeleteTo be fair, my thought process in the former was based around Childish Gambino himself.

ReplyDeleteThose Billboard Music Awards were pretty trash from what I watched. The whole thing was pretty much centered around BTS, and apparently they think that Body Like A Back Road, which is a total disgrace to the genre of country, can win country song of the year. There were 1 or 2 good performances but the rest I didn’t care for.

Playinwitme should debut next week because of the album.
Aww man, it looks like we’re going to have no debts this week. Why Hits 1?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it good to have no debts though? Lol.
DeleteNope.
DeleteI meant debuts.

DeleteParker strikes back with the accurate memes.
DeleteFrankly, I don’t really care since I’m not really crazy about any of the songs on Hit-Bound.
Same for me. Honestly, a re-entry would spice things up a little bit. It wouldn't do much but it would get one song out.
DeleteIf there was a re entry this week, I want it to be Let You Down.
DeleteI would want it to be Say Something.
DeleteHighly doubt those two would happen unfortunately. They are both off the voting poll for good.
DeleteWait, what idiots let Say Something leave the countdown?? The quality of this countdown is definitely decreasing.
DeleteI will say that it has been dropping everywhere. But it’s still a great song that I consider to be underrated.
DeletePost is out!

DeleteNot spins, adds.
DeleteOops.
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Niall Horan/Maren Morris - Seeing Blind
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Kris Wu's "Like That" may challenge Childish Gambino's "This is America" for #1 on Billboard Hot 100 June 2.
ReplyDeleteOMG THIS HAS TO BE A JOKE BECAUSE I AM LAUGHING SO HARD RN XD
DeleteNo it isn't. It's for real.
DeleteNo it's not.
DeleteIt'll probably be the biggest in digital sales, but not the Hot 100.
Wait... it might debut at #1 on Hot 100, come to think of it.
DeleteNew On Hits 1:
ReplyDeleteSteve Aoki/Yacthy/AJR - Pretender
YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
Delete@ATR Honestly nobody asked.
Deleteswegawaffle: His name is ATR, not @ATR.
Delete@Chase
DeleteWhat did ATR's comment say? Just wondering.
DeleteAdrian, don’t delete this comment. It’s not that big enough.
DeleteIt was a super childish way of him saying he really doesn't like Pretender
DeleteYeah it was just unnecessary and childish.
DeleteNew Music Alert: High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco
ReplyDeleteIt's really good! :)
Deletehttp://siriusxmhits1review.blogspot.com/2018/05/billboard-hot-100-childish-gambino-2.html
ReplyDeleteSo the Stanley Cup Finals will be the Capitals and the Golden Knights. It starts Monday, and there will be a first-time winner.
ReplyDeleteEither the former will finally shed their choking label after many years of failure, or the latter will prove everyone wrong who said that they would suck. I'm gonna be so conflicted though...
Billboard Hot 100 predictions:
ReplyDelete1. Like That (DEBUT)
2. This is America
3. Nice for What
4. Fake Love (DEBUT)
5. Don't Go Breaking My Heart (DEBUT)
6. Psycho
7. No Tears Left to Cry
8. Meant to Be
9. Whatever it Takes
10. Boo'd Up
These are my predictions for next week. It is a good prediction in my opinion.
DeleteNo it's not stop spreading fake news.
DeleteOkay. I'l stop. But I think Like That is going to dethrone This is America but the rest were wrong, I guess.
DeleteNEW MUSIC ALERT:
ReplyDeleteZ.TAO - Misunderstand
What is it with you and Japanese artists?
DeleteI heard it's a good song. Maybe it will be on Hits 1 very soon.
Delete^Most likely not.
DeleteActually it will.
DeleteNo it won’t. This isn’t the first time you’ve made some random recommendation that didn’t make it.
DeleteHey what happened to Montavis? Maybe he is on hiatus or something?
ReplyDeleteJust because he hasn’t commented doesn’t mean he’s on hiatus. He’s probably just busy.
DeleteChase, stop calling yourself Miles. Now I gotta delete all these damn comments. :/
ReplyDeleteAdrian, that's not nice. Miles is a nice guy.
DeleteAnd you’re not him.
DeleteAdrian would you please delete my comment!!!!!
DeleteDid he say he wasn't nice? No he didn't. You called yourself Miles in your account so that is why he is doing it. You're not such of a nice guy yourself.
DeleteI’m gonna delete all of them!
DeleteYeah Adrian, please delete my comment, thanks!!! 'Cause if you don't, I will scream.
DeleteNo you won't scream. You're just a nice guy, that's all. Adrian is just going to delete all of your comments.
Delete-Miles, yep that's me
Omg can you just FUCK OFF
DeleteSometimes I wish I could delete multiple comments at the same time.
DeleteAnyway you can block a single person from commenting on your blog? Might be useful for us lol.
ReplyDeleteNo.
DeleteScrew you!
DeleteIdk how.
DeleteWhy do I want to see the actual Miles respond to this so bad?
DeleteAdrian, have you thought of adding someone to help with comment moderation or just keeping the comments clean from Chase/ATR?
DeleteOr just enabling comment moderatino on again?
Adrian, please just delete ALL OF CHASE'S COMMENTS! PERMANENTLY! And never allow him or ATR to comment on this blog ever again. That goes for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI started and I’m working on it. Doing something else at the same time but I’ll be sure to have them all deleted by the end of today.
Deletehttps://support.google.com/blogger/answer/187141?hl=en&ref_topic=6321959&vid=0-1269839785767-1527209308915
DeleteThis should help somewhat, I wish there was a feature to block/ban people from commenting.
Yeah I may turn on somthing on my blog that will "help" even though it isn't that bad there. But I can't guarantee it.
ReplyDeleteIs it comment moderation, or something else? I turned on Word verification for my blog.
DeleteYeah I did word verification. I am hoping he is too stupid to figure it out.
DeleteDylan, I'm your friend.
DeleteUmm, Dylan, I recently commented on your blog, but there was no word verification at all. I just said "Chase, go away!" and it just published it with no problem.
DeleteObviously I missed a lot.
ReplyDeleteRedDog's blog is a mess too:
Deletehttp://hits1weekendcountdownblog.blogspot.com/2018/05/hey.html
Testing to see if there's any comment moderation or anything.
ReplyDeleteOh good there's not. This comment section can become a mess, but whatever happens, don't turn comment moderation on. Remember how much we all hated it back last summer when it was on? Yeah, not very fun times.
DeleteHonestly, I don't care, I am just plain sick of Chase/ATR trolling/spamming and making it a complete and utter mess.
DeleteTBH, ATR hasn't been that bad recently besides the "NOOOOOOOOO" crap.
DeleteWhat are your weekend countdown predictions for 5/26/18?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. There are no exits this week on the countdown.
DeleteWait a minute, Over My Head is debuting the countdown this week.
DeleteWhy are you still here? GO AWAY!!!
DeleteATR, I am happy that Over My Head is debuting the countdown.
DeleteI'd be happy if you fucking left!
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Panic! at the Disco - High Hopes
ReplyDeleteThis I can agree with 100%.
DeleteThat moment when you actually agree with Chase lmao
Delete#1 Recommendation for Chase: Literally Everyone - SHUT THE FUCK UP!!
ReplyDelete#1 Recommendation for swegawaffle: Kenny Chesney - Get Along
DeleteWell, everyone. AT40 post is now out. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehttp://sxmhits1wc.blogspot.com/2018/05/at40-camila-cabello-2-week-of-may-26.html
Rockets won against the Warriors last night but now they're out Chris Paul. Tomorrow's game could be it!
ReplyDeleteAnd so could tonight's, because if the Celtics win it could be LeBron's final game in Cleveland. He will be missed once this is all over.
My weekend countdown predictions for 5/26/18:
ReplyDeleteExits:
Havana
Entrants:
Over My Head
#1: Whatever It Takes
Biggest Drop: Meant To Be
Biggest Jump: All The Stars
Hit Bound Entrants:
None
If we do have a line exit this week, it better not be Havana.
DeleteBut WAMB10, I don’t like Havana.
DeleteATR that doesn't matter.
DeleteAlso, On The Loose will be #1 this week.
Pretender will also be debuting Hit Bound
Delete^^How do you know this? (The #1 part)
DeleteBut ATR, nobody asked.
DeleteI have been listening to Hits 1 all day and I have heard OTL a LOT. More than the other top 3 songs.
DeletePlus they may have it on the website.
^Not saying I checked the website but they may have it on there.
Delete@Chase I doubt Havana will exit. I think you just randomly came up with that as an exit because you don’t like it for some reason.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThey’re practically the same person.
DeleteI didn’t have school today.
ReplyDeletehttps://tinyurl.com/y7todoek
DeleteMeme god strikes again.
Deletenext time don't tell us something that we don't really care about. No one really fucking cares you didn't go to school, big whoop.
Deletehttp://mymusicreviewingblog.blogspot.com/2018/05/personal-top-20-chart-52618-high-hopes.html
ReplyDeleteYeah I just checked the website and On The Loose is not #1. I won't spoil what it really is though.
ReplyDeleteIt’s The Middle for the 9th week lol. It is officially tied with Shape Of You.
DeleteWatch The Middle get around 12 weeks.
Deleteswegawaffle: *facepalm* Why must you spoil.
DeleteMiles: I will shoot myself if that happens.
Hits 1 said on their Insta that Dua Lipa apparently has two songs on the countdown this week, including New Rules. Guess that one will re-enter after all.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it. What was the last re-entry here, Castle?
DeleteIt could be One Kiss debuting instead but I doubt it; New Rules got much more airplay than the other this week.
They actually said in the caption #New Rules #IDGAF
DeleteAh. Still hope One Kiss can debut sometime soon though.
DeleteI still like the song but it legit dead everywhere else I don't see why it is still here. If it means that How Long can leave I'm all for that.
DeleteActually guys, New Rules might be just a countdown summer extra. It would have to be that because it would make no sense for it to re-enter.
DeleteGiven how much airplay it has had this past week, I don’t see why it wouldn’t re-enter. I get that it’s dying out though, so it probably won’t stay long.
DeleteHitbound List (part 1):
ReplyDeleteSam Smith/Logic - Pray
HRVY - Personal
Fall Out Boy - The Last Of The Real Ones (Debut)
The Wrecks - James Dean
