New Entrants
~ First up, we have the return of Macklemore without Ryan Lewis this time around. You may remember them somewhat because they helped make 2013 a good year for music bringing in the catchy hits (Thrift Shop), the upbeat anthems (Can't Hold Us), and the slower, more meaningful songs that really made an impact (Same Love). Macklemore brings in Skylar Grey, who has made numerous appearances as a featured artist that I'm pretty sure made the countdown at some point in time. She's done a few collabs with rapper Eminem that I know for sure were on the countdown at some point. But aside from that, I have enjoyed her music and her guest appearances for a while now. I really like her voice. As far as the song goes, I think it's pretty cool. Macklemore's verses flow just as smoothly as they did before. But I think Skylar's chorus is the biggest attention-grabber. She is easily the best fit for this song. Overall, I really like it. It's different and it's cool. Hopefully it does well.
~ Next we have Imagine Dragons debuting with Thunder, which while being undoubtedly better than Believer, I still have mixed feelings about. Obviously, it's a different sound for them since they're supposedly "evolving" as guessed by the title of the album. It is a catchy song. That chorus gets stuck in my head pretty easily. I've never heard the word "thunder" said so many times in one song. But it's pretty basic. There's nothing that makes it stand out from the rest of the songs on the countdown. Also, the voice that repeatedly says "thunder" in the chorus is really annoying. Ultimately, the song doesn't really catch my attention until the final chorus. Overall, it's nothing amazing. I did put it in green just because I would consider it good in comparison to Believer. But it's still nothing that stands out from their discography. I actually went through their new album and there are some pretty good songs on there like Walking The Wire. I feel like that would be a much better choice for a single. The problem with Thunder is that it's not a memorable song. No one will remember this in, say a year or two. I don't know. Maybe I'm over-analyzing it. Like I said, it's in green right now, but it can easily change to blue.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:
- The Revivalists – Wish I Knew You
- Selena Gomez – Fetish
- PRETTYMUCH – Would You Mind (DEBUT)
- Justin Bieber/BloodPop – Friends (DEBUT)
- Rita Ora – Your Song
- Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
- Andy Grammer – Give Love
- Harry Styles – Two Ghosts
- Cheat Codes/Demi Lovato – No Promises
- Halsey – Bad At Love
- Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still
- Zedd/Liam Payne – Get Low
- Sabrina Carpenter – Why
- The All-American Rejects – Sweat
- Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do (DEBUT)
~ New to Hit-Bound, we have PRETTYMUCH, who I'm guessing are some rising boy band. Would You Mind is pretty catchy. I do like hearing from newer boy bands. If I had to compare them to another boy band, it would probably be The Wanted. The vocals aren't amazing, but they have this cool vibe that is something I could probably get into.
~ Justin Bieber is back as a lead artist. The vocals are pretty strong on this one. He has a very good voice and he shows it reasonably well on this track. The drop isn't that exciting. The song is also slightly repetitive. But that's really my only criticism. Otherwise, it's a good song. I don't think it'll be as big as Despacito. It's not even really Top 5 material. The only reason it's in my Top 5 for Hit-Bound right now is because we have a huge lack of music that I think is amazing. NONE of the songs currently on Hit-Bound I would consider amazing.
~ And of course, the huge return of Taylor Swift. I'll talk more about this when it debuts. But for now, I'll just say right off the bat that it's nowhere near her best work. But there's something about it that just pulls me in.
~ While we do have more good songs than bad ones currently on Hit-Bound, none of the good songs stand out as anything amazing. So The All-American Rejects are currently at the top. It's been a grower these past couple of weeks. But it's nothing I can't live without.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. The All-American Rejects – Sweat
2. Ed Sheeran – Galway Girl
3. Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do
4. Justin Bieber/BloodPop – Friends
5. Cheat Codes/Demi Lovato – No Promises
Lightning Then The Blurbs
~ I definitely didn't see that #1 coming. But hey, I'm not complaining. It's a good song. I certainly prefer it over three of other songs currently in the Top 5. So as of right now, it can stay there as long as it likes.
~ Here we go again with the continuous jumps and drops coming from Ed Sheeran's two songs. They're continuously jumping in and out of the Top 10 replacing each other. It's actually getting a little annoying. Shape Of You shouldn't even still be this high.
~ And just like that, Hailee Steinfeld – Most Girls is back in the Top 15. That drop obviously didn't last very long. If only the same thing could happen to Wild Thoughts.
~ Meanwhile, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee/Justin Bieber – Despacito is all of a sudden out of the Top 20. So much for the biggest song in the country actually hitting #1.
~ Julia Michaels – Uh Huh thankfully dropped out of the Top 30, with Issues falling into the Bottom 5. I would love if both of these songs just leave. There was never anything good about either of them.
~ You gotta love how Train – Play That Song is still here. And I still haven't gotten sick of it because I haven't listened to it in a really long time. So I would love to see how much longer it can hold out.
~ This week, both of the Cyrus sisters had a song departing. Only difference is that one was actually very good and I wish it had become a bigger hit (Malibu), while the other was mediocre at best (Stay Together). Noah, you are nowhere near as talented as Miley. So just stop now.

First place!

DeleteHaha Gelography!
DeleteATR, why do you say "first place" every time?
DeleteBecause I'm the first one to comment on this post.
DeleteAnd Chase, you told me to do a weekend countdown post. You know what? I don't know how to do that.
DeleteHow can you make a weekend countdown post, Chase?
DeleteNOBODY CARES!
DeleteYou don't know how to make a blog? That is weird :p
DeleteYes. Do you know how to do it?
DeleteScroll to the top, then click "Create Blog"
DeleteWhat comes after you click "Create Blog"?
DeleteI can't explain, I have like two or three blogs, which were made like one month ago ;-;
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Rachel Crow - Dime
ReplyDelete"Julia Michaels – Uh Huh thankfully dropped out of the Top 30, with Issues falling into the Bottom 5. I would love if both of these songs just leave. There was never anything good about either of them."
ReplyDeleteYes, YES. I am so with you on Uh Huh. Let's PLEASE get that New-York-Giants sized piece of trash out of here.
I'm also ready for Issues to leave too, but whatever.
That's right. Let's get Uh Huh out of the countdown.
DeleteMeh, both are the most mediocre things I've heard.
DeleteWhile I agree completely on Uh Huh, Issues is to me at least funny bad. Not to mention that one clip of the Morning Mash Up playing bleeps during the chorus.
DeleteBy that I mean the game they play where they take a song and put in bleeps at a random part of the song. Seriously, even now it's the first thing I can think of when I hear the post-verses (not the chorus, I meant).
DeleteCAUSE YOU DON'T
FUCK ME
CAUSE IF YOU DID BABY I WOULD FUCK YOU TOO
To me the song becomes ten times funnier if you look at it like that, as wrong as it sounds. xP
I'm laughing my pants off even if I shouldn't— starts laughing

DeleteAnd just a heads up for Adrian AND EVERYONE (Yes, EVERYONE, INCLUDING MYSELF) in the blogging community: get ready to start searching for Taylor Swift pictures in the coming weeks, because it's ALMOST CERTAIN (and I'm emphasizing these two words so everyone can prepare) that her new single, Look What You Made Me Do, will be #1 within the next few weeks or so on BOTH the Weekend Countdown AND the American Top 40. AGAIN, it's going to be #1 within the next few weeks. So, brace yourselves.

Delete#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: French Montana/Swae Lee- Unforgettable
ReplyDeleteI really want this song to debut
Same here, but there's no way it's going to happen, given how Hits 1 has treated hip-hop recently.

DeleteWhy not leave? He deletes them because they make it aggravating to scroll. So just leave and move to Pulse.

DeleteFine.
DeleteConsidering that SoY broke a record for longevity in the top 10 on the Hot 100 recently, I'm not shocked at all it's still this high up.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I'm not going to be posting many comments lately. This is all because of AGT and randomizers of true show and stuff.

DeleteI have no idea. There might have been a re-entry that we missed. However, I know Look What You Made Me Do is in for a high debut.
Delete21. Shape Of You
ReplyDeleteLooks like this actually may be it for this one. It had an incredible run while it lasted.
Throwback Cut: Omi - Cheerleader
DeleteOn that note Montavis you probably already know this but that song just surpassed the record for weeks in the Top 10 on the Hot 100. I'm honestly kind of amazed for that given that right now it's only been held up by radio and YouTube.
DeleteOh, hey Scott :)
DeleteAnd.... (gap for spoilers)
ReplyDelete18. Mono Mind - Save Me A Place (DEBUT) [Montavis tell me of the year just paused]
They, not the year. Wow, I hate you autocorrect.
DeleteOkay, here's our mystery debut:

ReplyDeleteAlright, guys. Here it is. Brace yourselves for this...
ReplyDelete13. Look What You Made Me Do (HIGHEST DEBUT OF THE YEAR)
14. All Time Low - Good Times
Delete13. Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift (highest debut of 2017)
ReplyDeleteOh my uffing goodness.
I can not even believe it ;-;
Delete"Oh my uffing goodness" is absolutely right. Even I wasn't expecting this high of a debut. Goes to show how big Taylor Swift really is.
DeleteSomething tells me it's going to debut very high on the American Top 40, also.
*sees it debut in the Top 10 on AT40*
DeleteMe/Scott/Montavis: That isn't even magic.
- Gelography
Heck, remember Hello from 2015 when that debuted at #14 on Halloween? This surpassed even that.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAND one of the worst songs of the decade had to play after the highest uffing debut of the year.
ReplyDelete- Throwback Cut: MAGIC - Rude
Delete12 - Sorry Not Sorry
Delete11. Most Girls
ReplyDeleteWhy not just let in the Top 10 like it should've been a long time ago?
Throwback Cut: Cruise by Florida Georgia Line
ReplyDeleteYuck, this one blows. :\
10. COTH
Delete9. Something Just Like This
DeleteThank you! Definitely needed this after that dreck throwback. :D
9. SJLT
DeleteWow, can't wait to get the post out.
Exits:
ReplyDeletex29. Say You Won't Let Go
x41. I'm The One (Nooooooo.......)
x42. Starving
x43. Redbone (!!!)
Once again, you're late. Already posted the exits.
DeleteI'm surprised Say You Won't Let Go left from that high. It's Paris all over again, pretty much.
DeleteWith Redbone leaving the countdown this week, that's a touchdown for this song.
Delete8. Believer
ReplyDelete7. Stay
We have a new #1 this week. Attention is #6.
ReplyDeleteIf it's Body Like A Back Road, I will be super, super, SUPER, SUPER, SUPER, SUPER pissed.
Heh, before There's Nothing Holding Me Back came on there was still that chance.
Delete5. One More Light
ReplyDeleteWhat are other throwback summer hits?
ReplyDeleteYou can check DSR for more. I'll have them posted. Will update throughout the weekend.
Delete4. There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back.
ReplyDeleteThat means we're having a new #1. Either Body Like A Back Road, Slow Hands or Strip That Down.
DeleteSlow Hands would easily be the best choice of those three.
If it's Strip That Down, Adrian is going to be pissed.
DeleteOur Top 3 consists of BLABR, Slow Hands, and Strip That Down.
ReplyDeletePlease, please, PLEASE keep BLABR away from #1.
3. Body Like A Back Road
ReplyDeleteWhew! That was close. Now I'm hoping for Slow Hands to be #1.
Throwback Cut: Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I.
DeleteWhich isn't much better, to be honest. And it blocking Get Lucky from #1 on the Hot 100 made several hate it even more. Miles said it was his most hated song on Billboard's Greatest of All Time chart, and for good reason.
Our #1 Song is...
ReplyDeleteSLOW HANDS. WHEW! THAT WAS CLOSE!
Now how about Hit Bound?
ReplyDeleteI'll just save you all the time, here it is from DogStarRadio:
DeleteSweat by The All-American Rejects
Bad At Love by Halsey (debut?)
Your Song by Rita Ora
Fetish by Selena Gomez
Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man
Why by Sabrina Carpenter
Get Low by Zedd featuring Liam Payne
Heartless by Evaride (debut)
What Lovers Do by Maroon 5 featuring SZA (debut)
Friends by Justin Bieber featuring BloodPop (debut)
Two Ghosts by Harry Styles
Might be missing one or two but that's what I saw buried in there.
Both Bad At Love and Friends debuted a while ago. You're right about the other two.
DeleteThe Hit-Bound song playing right now is Feel It Still.

ReplyDelete#1 song this week one year ago: Can't Stop the Feeling! by Justin Timberlake (10th and final week at #1)
ReplyDeleteI remember how everyone went crazy when this hit #1 again that week, especially after it had been playing less that week. Many were not happy about it. Even Adrian commented on that, and even after all of that, he somehow never got sick of it, which he does deserve credit for. Yet Graham and WAMB10 I don't know if they'll ever like it again, sadly.
Here's the full countdown. Post will be out later today:
ReplyDeleteExits:
I'm The One

2. Liam Payne - Strip That Down (#5) [+3]
1. Niall Horan - Slow Hands (#7) [+6] [1ST WEEK AT #1] (WHEW! THAT WAS CLOSE!)
From what I see here, only two songs - Mercy and Back To You - held their spots from last week. That's some decent activity. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
DeleteCan someone list me all the throwback picks?
ReplyDeleteAnd why is Slow Hands #1? I easily prefer the other two songs. I have never once heard, skimmed through, or heard a small sample of this song. Yet it takes #1 over two awesome songs. This is why I hate today's pop music.
And here we go again.
DeleteGo listen to Slow Hands then.
DeleteLook, all I want right now is a list of all the throwback picks they played, so I can look back on them and how good music was then compared to now.
Delete;-;
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Bruno Mars - Chunky
ReplyDeleteDefinitely with you on that one, the man needs to release it as a single already! Either that or Finesse.
DeleteHere's another throwback hit:
ReplyDeleteLMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
http://www.theonion.com/article/taylor-swift-unveils-even-darker-persona-new-singl-56826
ReplyDeleteSo, uh, this is a thing.
Just based on that title, I know that certain idiots are going to hate the song before they even listen to it.
Guys, they're playing Bad Blood as another throwback hit.
ReplyDeleteNow they're playing Call Me Maybe as another throwback hit.
ReplyDeleteSee You Again is now playing as another throwback hit.
ReplyDeleteHere's another throwback summer hit:
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry - California Gurls
OMG, NEW BEST WEEK OF 2017!
ReplyDeleteCountdown Grade: A+ 97% Even though we didn't have 6+ exits this week.
DeleteThis week ties with 11/09/13, 01/11/14, & 05/30/16.
