Walk The Moon (5) – Week Of July 18, 2015

I didn't think I could ever dislike Shut Up and Dance as much as I do now. Leave the #1 spot, the Top 10, and the whole countdown!!!! So this week wasn't very good. But I'll manage to fight through it so you guys can have a post. Plus, I'm almost 2 years into this blog and I haven't missed a single week. So I'm not going to let it happen now. No songs leaving the countdown this week, unfortunately, which was the first sign this countdown wasn't going to be too good.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: OneRepublic – Love Runs Out

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Taylor Swift – Style (–17)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: DJ Snake/AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It (+25)

My Heart Is A Blurb Town
~ Jesus Christ, why is You Know You Like It at #14?!?!?! I'm tired of hearing that same beat after each chorus. Knowing Hits 1, it will probably fall back down soon.

~ Hits 1 made a mistake by saying Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You had the Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week. I guess they didn't want to accept the fact that a Taylor Swift song dropped so many spots.

~ The Top 10 is not looking very hot right now. There are only 2 songs that are really good. The rest are only good/okay/bad/old.

~ I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good has the capability of being our #1 song sometime in the near future. I may be wrong. But I just have this feeling that Honey I'm Good can hit #1.

~ Earlier this week, the comment section started a debate about opinions for Omi – Cheerleader using the #TeamCheerleader or #TeamNoCheerleader. It's pretty obvious I go #TeamNoCheerleader. But we seem to be split in half about opinions. So yeah. Cheerleader is downright annoying in my opinion.

~ Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young probably won't be staying with us for that much longer.

~ Fall Out Boy – Centuries has been on this countdown for what feels like centuries. Seriously, who is still voting for this song??? Let me guess, Hits 1. With their love for Fall Out Boy, they will not let this song leave even if it get no votes. It will not leave until it has spent a year on this countdown. Hits 1, if you are reading this, go ahead and prove me wrong. Prove me wrong by making this song leave next week.

~ Katy Tiz – Whistle (While You Work It) has lasted quite a while on this countdown. I'm surprise it isn't gone by now. It'll most likely leave within the next few weeks.

~ Words cannot describe how annoying Maroon 5 – Sugar is. It was bad before, but now it's even worse as I've heard it too many times for a song I really don't like. Please leave soon. This song wins the award for worst Maroon 5 song ever!

~ One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go has spent the entire time on this countdown in the #11–#15 area so far. How about we leave that range and enter the Top 10? Maybe? PLEASE???

Hits & Misses
~ Since we have no new entrants I had to think of something I could add to the blurb section. So here is a mini review of Pete Wentz's show, Hits & Misses.

~ Pete Wentz had a very special guest on this week's edition of Hits & Misses. It was our Hit-Bound artist, MAX.

~ New Politics – Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens) played during the show. For those who don't remember or weren't around at the time. This song was a former Hit-Bound dropout. Hopefully, that brings back some memories.

~ Here is the Hits & Misses song list:

  • Skrillex & Diplo/Justin Bieber – Where Are Ü Now
  • Big Data/White Sea – The Business Of Emotion
  • The Weeknd – Can't Feel My Face
  • Demi Lovato – Cool For The Summer
  • Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
  • Travie McCoy/Sia – Golden
  • MAX/Hoodie Allen – Gibberish
  • Selena Gomez – Good For You
  • Major Lazer/DJ Snake/MØ – Lean On
  • Twenty One Pilots – Tear In My Heart
  • New Politics – Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)
  • Panic! At The Disco – Hallelujah
  • Sia – Elastic Heart
  • Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman
  • MAX – Mug Shot

Back to regular blurbs.

Louis Tomlinson's baby news STILL have yet to be confirmed by him. I honestly can't trust any of these articles out because for all I know, they could be making this stuff up. Still waiting for Louis to confirm it himself.

~ For those who are unaware, I did get a shout out from Spyder Harrison during the countdown. After I Really Like You, but before Uptown Funk, Spyder Harrison was going through his list of people to shout out and I was in that list. If you want to get a shout out from him during the countdown but don't know how, you first of all need a social media account. Usually, on Thursday or Friday, Spyder Harrison will ask on Facebook or Twitter if anyone wants a shout out and to leave your name and city/state/province. I got lucky and I was the first or second person to comment my name and state. So if any of you listened to the countdown, I did get a shout out.

~ #1 Recommendation For The Countdown: Prince Royce/Jennifer Lopez/Pitbull – Back It Up

~ Most Missed Song This Week: One Direction/Zayn Malik – What Makes You Beautiful

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go
1. TIE: David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
3. All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give
4. Demi Lovato – Cool For The Summer
5. Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young

  8. And now for…

    a review.

    Last Week's #1: Eh.
    45. I'm starting to think this one's gonna leave us within the next couple months. (turquoise)
    44. What happened to Spyder's running gag of adding names to this song? I thought it was funny. Ah, well. :| (pink)
    43. Fun fact: this one dropped off the AT40 at #18, a little higher than it got here. (yellow)
    42. Could this one leave soon? I think it's stayed past its welcome…but only by a little bit. (yellow)
    41. I had a dream once that this was #1 here, while Want to Want Me was at #2. It never came true. But it would've been cool. (yellow)
    40. Pitbull hasn't had a smash here since Timber. And unless something big comes along soon, it'll probably stay that way for the near future. (turquoise)
    39. YAAAAAAAAS BIG DROP (red)
    38. I actually missed Adrian's shout-out. I only knew about it when I read it. :[ (turquoise)
    37. I'm sorta sad that this one is done. (pink)
    36. Please leave sooner rather than later. (yellow)
    35. I still enjoy this one. Only a little bit tho. (yellow)
    34. I agree: Hits 1 probably didn't want to admit Taylor had the biggest DROP!!!…right after telling that charity story. (yellow)
    33. Yyyeah, I forgot how boring this part of the countdown was. (yellow)
    32. I don't know if I like it - or love it - but IT'S SO DARN CATCHY!!! (blue)
    31. I'm still undecided about this one. (blue-ish)
    30. This one probably won't last much longer. If it does I'll be surprised. (blue)
    29. THAT'S ENOUGH MAN (turquoise)
    28. Please. Stop. (turquoise)
    27. This is at #4 on pop radio, and it hit #1 on iTunes this week.

WHY IS IT AT #27 HERE? (green - oh, boy, a green one! I haven't seen much of those 'round here…)
    26. On the one hand, it's catchy. On the other hand, it's practically about a hangover. (dark green)
    25. I don't know how much longer this one's gonna last. (blue)
    24. I can enjoy this one. (blue - gee, blue's a pretty hard color to see on a black background)
    23. There's the first DJ Snake song. It actually is at #9 on pop radio now! But where's the second one? (blue/green oblivion)
    22. This one's fading. (pink)
    21. Something tells me this one might be close to done… (blue)
    20. I think I'm done with this one. (red - sorry, Dylan and Lance)
    19. I think I like this one!! (green)
    18. As for this one…

    not so much. (dark green)
    17. If this song hit #1 here, that would be cool. It would make my friend who plays this song on guitar a lot pretty happy. (green)
    16. This one's sort of odd, if you ask me. The Heart Want What It Wants was better. (blue)
    15. I'm still surprised this hit #1 on the Alt-18. (green/blue oblivion)
    14. …oh. There it is. Well, I hate to break it to you, Hits 1…but you're a little late to the party. (pink)
    13. You'd think this one would do better for such a high debut. (green/blue oblivion)
    12. Apologies to the blogmaster, but…
I think I like this one!! (green)
    11. I'm trying to get this song out of my head. I really am. (yellow)
    10. This one's probably not gonna get much further than #9. (red - notice how I phrased my words there?)
    9. This just might hit #1. I don't know. I hope it does. (green)
    8. NO (orange)
    7. I have no idea how much further this one will get. Maybe it'll pull a Young Volcanoes, maybe it won't. I just don't know. (pink)
    6. STOP IT JASON (yellow)
    5. I officially like this song A LOT. But not as much as my brother does… (green)
    4. This one has already become a year-defining song for 2015. And I'm not bothered. (pink)
    3. Fun "fact": if this were to hit #1, it would make for one of the longest - if not THE longest - climb to #1. GO ANDY!!! (purple)
    2. None of the 1989 songs are that horrible.
    They're just insanely overplayed. (yellow)
    1. Look, I like the song, but Hits 1's honestly taking it overboard. (pink)

Look out below for part 2!!!

  10. Time for Brian's review of the countdown this week.

Seriously Hits 1? No exits? That's a little upsetting.

    45. Interesting how they managed to keep it 10+ spots away from Style. Instead of boosting it up to the 20s like I though they would, they threw it to #45. Good... (Red)
    44. Keep fighting! (Green)
    43. Prediction: This song will leave next week. (Green)
    42. You've stayed here too long. (Red)
    41. Surprised this one's still here. What happens is most weeks it barely airs, and I think it's gonna leave. But that, of course, never happens. (Yellow)
    40. Let's give this song a HUGE jump next week. WHO'S WITH ME???!!! No one? Okay.... (Green)
    39. Hits 1 did indeed announce this as the Biggest DROP!!! They should probably check their math extra carefully before next week. A well deserved drop, however. (Red)
    38. I feel this one is gonna roam around the bottom for the next few months, and then Hits 1 will finally come to their senses and kick it out. (Pink)
    37. If any song doesn't belong here, it's this song. (Orange)
    36. You can leave now, just so you know. (Red)
    35. I honestly think Hits 1 does anything they can to make a Fall Out Boy song have a long tenure. Example: This song (and, you know...) (Red)
    34. YES!!! You deserved the Biggest DROP!!! (Red)
    33. We've had enough!!! (Red)
    32. I don't see this song lasting very long. (Green)
    31. Can you jump??? I mean, seriously. (Green)
    30. Throwing this to #30 is taking things a little far. Geez Hits 1. (Green)
    29. GET OUT!!!!!! (Red)
    28. Yeah, completely disagree with the whole "Worst Maroon 5 Song" thing. (Green)
    27. Kinda like the description for #30. Get it together Hits 1. This song hit #1 on iTunes, so it shouldn't be #27 here. (Green)
    26. I feel Hits 1 is gonna kick this one out soon. (Green)
    25. I actually kinda like this one. (Green)
    24. Yay! (Green)
    23. Oh you've gotta get higher than this.... (Green)
    22. I won't be surprised if this stays in the 21-25 range for the next month. (Blue)
    21. Something tells me this one is dying. It was fun while it lasted. (Green)
    20. If this one doesn't outpeak Sledgehammer, I'll be absolutely shocked. (Green)
    19. Meh. (Blue)
    18. I sense a jump into the Top 10 next week. (Green)
    17. The spark is dying for me. (Pink)
    16. Wow. It's on it's 3rd week, and it's already reached the peak of The Heart Wants What It Wants. Talk about a quicker rise to the teens. (Blue)
    15. NEW PEAK! (Green)
    14. #StartingToGrowBackIntoIt :) (Blue)
    13. I thought it would be higher at this point of its career. (Green)
    12. In case you couldn't tell by the comment I made on how I felt Cheerleader was being annoyingly overplayed, I am on #TeamNoCheerleader (Red)
    11. I think this is my Summer jam! Let's reach a new peak and hit #1! Of course, I'm the only one who wants that. (Purple)
    10. Sorry Adrian, but there's no way this is gonna hit #1. Not at this point. (Pink)
    9. Losing interest... (Pink)
    8. Yeah, I don't think you should be jumping back into the Top 10. (Yellow)
    7. I'll be happy if this stays in the Top 10 for a while. (Green)
    6. You should start thinking of dropping. (Pink)
    5. Has this reached its peak? (Blue)
    4. Yeah, I just realized that it's gonna take A LOT for me to get sick of this song. (Green)
    3. #BadTiming (Pink)
    2. THE REMIX IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!! (Blue)
    1. I have no words. This just isn't okay at all. I'm PISSED!!! (Red)

Most Missed Song This Week: Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul - Bailando

  24. Poll is for a countdown show I'm recording. My life IS AMAZING NOW! Here's why:
    1) I introduced Taylor Swift - Bad Blood to the world and it's on 3 weeks in counting #1 on AT40.
    2) I stayed overnight at a dorm at a summer camp and there was a dance and I used DJ equipment they owned and they trusted ME for the song picks. They were right, there were huge happy screams for all 32 songs. Yes, It went 2 hours.
    3) I am an Apple Music Member! My parents did that for saying sorry to me.

    1. You go to their website and there should be something on there that says "vote for the weekend countdown".

      ~Jack :)

      Delete
    2. There is a section on their website (siriusxm.com/hits1) where you can vote. However the poll only contains Hit-Bound music. So the only other way to vote for countdown songs requires you to have a social media account like Twitter.
