Twenty One Pilots (4) – Week Of April 23, 2016

Hey guys! I'm happy to say that we did get rid of one huge piece of trash this week. The other exit was pretty unfortunate. It's also nice to have Cake By The Ocean not at #1 this week. However, the Top 5 isn't looking so hot. Maybe next week we can get some better songs in there. In other news, this post is posted a couple of days later than usual. New Entrants
~ Gwen Stefani is back once again. Baby Don't Lie and Used To Love You were both flops on this countdown, which is why I'm not so sure about how Make Me Like You will do. I do think this song sounds a lot different than Used To Love You and others like Hollaback Girl as Make Me Like You is a downright pop song. It's pretty damn catchy, so I do give it that. Gwen Stefani has one of those voices where if it's not used "correctly", it can sound annoying. Used To Love You had some parts where her voice was annoying. But I think she uses her voice very nicely in Make Me Like You. Overall, I do like this song.

~ Mike Posner is back! Hopefully, we all remember that extremely catchy debut single of his from 2010, Cooler Than Me. If not, shame on you because that song was amazing (just kidding lol). Seriously though, that song was really good. He's back with I Took A Pill In Ibiza, a song that's pretty much about drugs. I feel like the music video is a good representation of the song's meaning. So go ahead and watch that if you want to get deeper into this song and its meaning. It is catchy. I really like Mike Posner's voice. I've liked it ever since Cooler Than Me. Overall, it is really good and I do want to see this song do well on the countdown.

I Wrote A Blurb In Ibiza
~ In terms of songs that should never ever again do what they did this week, Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself has hit a new peak at #3. Honestly, can we not with this song?

~ It didn't take long for me to grow out of Fifth Harmony – Work From Home, Meghan Trainor – No, and Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman. I'm just starting to realize that all of these songs are missing something to help make them catchy songs.

~ Hopefully this is the end of Dawin – Dessert. Talk about annoying.

~ If you are a fan of Lukas Graham, please do not judge me as I just realized that they are a band as opposed to a solo artist. Anyway, 7 Years is now in the Top 10. I'm starting to really appreciate this song for the sweet song it is.

~ Taylor Swift – Out Of The Woods made quite a massive jump up to #24 this week. I still kind of like this song, so I'm not necessarily angry by this jump. This song was able to stick with me for a little while longer than songs like Wildest Dreams and Style.

~ Tryon – Somebody To Love Me and We The Kings – The Story Of Tonight are just a couple of those songs that make it on to Hits 1 and Hits 1 only. They seem to not be going anywhere, which is why I don't think they'll last much longer.

~ Speaking of songs that debut on Hits 1 only, Shawn Hook – Sound Of Your Heart fell in that trap exiting the countdown after only three weeks. It sucks because I actually liked that song quite a bit.

~ Grace – You Don't Own Me is really lacking some success on this countdown. I do like this song, so I would like to see it jump a little more.

~ P!nk – Just Like Fire debuted Hit-Bound this week. Let's just say that right off the bat, it is the new best song on Hit-Bound. That is all I will say about it. ;)

~ Jason Derulo – Get Ugly has been hanging on in the Bottom 5 for quite a while now. We have a ton of good songs on Hit-Bound that should definitely be in place of this song. So I would appreciate if we could make that happen.

~ Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime is also hanging on for dear life. As Coldplay is still my favorite band of all time, I do still enjoy this song a ton. Although it'll probably leave in a couple of weeks, I don't mind it staying for as long as it likes.

~ Although I'm getting pretty tired of Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out, I'll take it over Cake By The Ocean any week.

~ Next weekend is in fact my birthday weekend. My birthday is next Monday. I'm hoping we can have a good countdown week next week which includes getting rid of some of the trash on this countdown and replacing with some of the many good songs on Hit-Bound.

~ So the reason my post wasn't out on Saturday was because on Saturday night, I had my junior prom. Saturday was entirely preparation for the dance and then Sunday was the day where I did all my work for school. Monday was just a typical busy Monday. But aside from that, the dance was really fun! Here are the songs I remember them playing:

  • Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman
  • DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle
  • DJ Snake/Lil Jon – Turn Down For What
  • Drake/Future – Jumpman
  • Fergie/Q-Tip/GoonRock – A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)
  • Fetty Wap – Trap Queen
  • Fetty Wap/Remy Boyz – 679
  • Fifth Harmony/Ty Dolla $ign – Work From Home
  • Flo Rida – Good Feeling
  • Flo Rida – My House
  • Flo Rida/T-Pain – Low
  • Flo Rida/Sage The Gemini/Lookas – GDFR (Yes, they played a ton of Flo Rida.)
  • Iggy Azalea – Work
  • Jason Derulo/2 Chainz – Talk Dirty
  • Jay-Z/Kanye West – Ni**as In Paris
  • Justin Bieber – Sorry
  • Ke$ha – TiK ToK
  • LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
  • Lukas Graham – 7 Years
  • Meghan Trainor/John Legend – Like I'm Gonna Lose You
  • Mike Posner/SeeB – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
  • Pitbull/TJR – Don't Stop The Party
  • Rihanna/Drake – Work
  • Silento – Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)
  • Skrillex/Sirah – Bangarang
  • Steve Aoki/Chris Lake/Tujamo – Boneless
  • Taylor Swift – Shake It Off
  • The Chainsmokers/Daya – Don't Let Me Down
  • The Chainsmokers/Rozes – Roses
  • Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance
  • Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
  • + more that I didn't know

I honestly did have a blast. If you're in school and you have dances like homecoming, prom, etc., I recommend you go to them. They're so fun. But yeah. That's why this post is posted a couple of days later than normal. We should be back on our normal schedule starting next week.

My Top 5 Of Those Songs
1. Ke$ha – TiK ToK
2. Skrillex/Sirah – Bangarang
3. DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle
4. LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
5. Justin Bieber – Sorry

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Coldplay can hold on to #1 for a second week in a row and a fifth time overall with Hymn For The Weekend!

Most Missed Countdown Song: Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame

#1 Recommendation For The Countdown: DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Maroon 5 – Sugar

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Charlie Puth – One Call Away (–12)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Twenty One Pilots – Ride (+15)

New Entrants
~ Our lone new entrant this week comes from returning group, X Ambassadors, with their latest single from VHS, Unsteady. I think what made me feel the emotion this song brings out was the music video. Then I listened closely to the lyrics and realized that this song is about someone's parents making their house not feel like home. It makes more sense after you see the music video. But overall, I do like this song. It's a lot slower than Jungle and Renegades, but that just gives it so much more emotion.

You Don't Own Blurbs
~ Honestly, I think we've had enough of Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself in the Top 10. Maybe one day we'll get some better music from her. But that probably won't happen as long as she is still releasing singles from Revival.

~ Troye Sivan – Youth is in the Top 10. I never thought a song of his would even reach the countdown, let alone the Top 10, when I first listened to his single, Happy Little Pill. Way to go, Troye Sivan! You're doing great! Keep it up!

~ Rihanna/Drake – Work should be gone by now according to Hits 1 logic.

~ I'm still awaiting the departure of Adele – When We Were Young. This song is still extremely boring.

~ Jason Derulo – Get Ugly should honestly be gone by now. It's getting worse after each listen.

~ Fall Out Boy/Demi Lovato – Irresistible should not still be in the Top 10. Apparently, Hits 1 just has to hold on to this song as long as possible until they release a new single that can replace it. It's pretty obvious that to Hits 1, the Weekend Countdown is not the Weekend Countdown without Fall Out Boy.

~ I'm curious as to how songs like Dawin – Dessert are still here. That song is honestly just so annoying.

~ I don't what it is, but something this past week made me fall in love with Taylor Swift – New Romantics where it is now the best song on the countdown. It's probably just a phase that will go away soon. But for now, I've been really jamming out to that song.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Go find out if G-Eazy can hold at #1 for a second week in a row with Me, Myself, & I!

Most Missed Countdown Song: Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando

#1 Recommendation For The Countdown: DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle

My Top 5 Picks
1. Taylor Swift – New Romantics
2. Justin Bieber – Love Yourself
3. G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha – Me, Myself, & I
4. Elle King – America's Sweetheart
5. Troye Sivan – Youth

Now to wrap up this post, I'd like to address the issues we've been having in the comment section lately and I've decided to set some commenting rules. Those of you who do not comment and don't plan to comment, you can stop reading here (unless you'd like to continue; it's up to you). As usual, my #1 rule with the comment section is that it must be a safe environment. So let's just start with the rules.

1. Respect One Another: This is definitely a big rule. I do not tolerate people who are rude to others. We all have opinions and that's great. I allow you to share your opinion and typically, I respect it. If someone states their opinion, you have no right to say "that's wrong." I also don't want any arguments breaking out. I honestly don't care what it's about. If you and someone else are arguing, we're going to have a serious problem. So cut it out. We are slowly losing viewers and commenters because they can't stand all the arguing in the comment section. Also, we do not tell others to leave this website. That is beyond rude and I'm not okay with it. So please learn how to respect each other or don't comment at all.

2. No Discussion On Weapons: If you own weapons at home, good for you. But I'd rather not have you discuss it in the comment section because it often leads to death threats, which we'll get more into later. Also, "*gunshots fired*" is not an appropriate thing to comment. I actually laugh at how dumb that comment is. But seriously guys, it's not appropriate and it probably makes others feel not safe, so stop it.

3. No Death Threats: This often occurs from a discussion on weapons. I do not tolerate death threats one bit. If you threaten others and make them feel completely unsafe, we have a serious issue. Death threats can range from "I'm going to kill you" to "I'm going to send someone to kill you" to "Go kill yourself". We do not tell others to go and kill themselves even if they seem corrupted to you. Seriously though. Cut it out with the death threats. What can you possibly get out of threatening someone?

4. Replies Should Relate To The Original Comment: I can't believe I have to say this. It should be common sense. But when someone comments something and you reply, your reply should at least somewhat relate to the original comment. I understand if the subject gradually changes as the replies continue. But if we are talking about school, you should not comment something like, "I'm so sick of Perfect by One Direction." That has absolutely nothing to do with what we were originally discussing. I don't understand why this is so hard for a couple of people. It's ridiculous.

5. Be Considerate With How Many Comments You Post: If you have multiple things to say at once, please put it all in one comment. No one wants to see ten comments in a row from the same person. It takes up too much space. So just be a little cautious and considerate with the number of comments you post in certain time period.

These rules are really straight-forward. Those who fail to follow them will get their comments deleted, even I'm sick of tired of deleting comments constantly. I don't understand why this is so hard for some people. Just respect one another, don't threaten others, reply something related to what was said, and be considerate. If you typically don't get any comments deleted, you shouldn't have to worry about anything. But the rest of you better follow these straight-forward common sense rules. It saddens me that some of you just aren't mature enough and that I have to set up these rules. But we'll see how this goes. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I will see you next time I post. :P

New Entrants
~ First up, we have Twenty One Pilots (again...) with their single, Ride. I don't know why, but I do not like this song. But then again, that was my initial reaction for both Tear In My Heart and Stressed Out, and I did grow into those songs at some point. We'll see what happens with this one. But I can't see it being any more than an okay song.

~ Next we have Grace with You Don't Own Me. I'm a little aggravated that G-Eazy was cut out of the song considering that he pretty much makes the song catchy. But as far as this version goes, it's pretty good. I think she has a really good voice. But not all that special to me.

~ Ariana Grande is back after that flop by the name of Focus. This one is called Dangerous Woman and it's pretty clear Ms. Grande is taking a different route than she used to with songs like The Way, Problem, Break Free, etc. I think this song is pretty catchy. It's not her best in my opinion, but I really do like this new sound she has going. I'll take a listen to her new album when it comes out and see how that goes.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list for this week:

  • Nick Jonas/Tove Lo – Close
  • Mike Posner/SeeB – I Took A Pill In Ibiza

Dangerous Blurbs
~ Charlie Puth – One Call Away, Rachel Platten – Stand By You, and Adele – Hello all took some big drops this week. For some, this is good. We are in need of an infusion of new songs into the Top 10.

~ Adele – When We Were Young made a nice drop down to the 30's. Hopefully this song will leave sometime in the next couple weeks.

~ Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – S.O.B. is now at the end of its journey. I'm 95% sure this time.

~ Fall Out Boy/Demi Lovato – Irresistible made another massive jump this week, this time back into the Top 10. Honestly, can we just stop with this song? I really don't want to hate it like I did with Centuries and Uma Thurman.

~ Meghan Trainor – No is blasting its way up every chart except this one. It's still towards the top of the iTunes chart. But this is Hits 1, so I really can't expect much.

~ We have finally gotten rid of two pieces of trash this week, Kamikaze and Wildest Dreams. Thank you, Hits 1! It's about time! :D

~ Now that Kamikaze is gone, Selena Gomez – Same Old Love has become the new worst song on the countdown. I honestly cannot stand this song anymore, so I would appreciate it if it would leave soon.

~ So DNCE managed to get their debut single, Cake By The Ocean, to #1. Congrats to them. However, I do hope it does not stay there for long.

~ If you're one of those people who only come here on Saturdays for the Weekend Countdown post, I did post two Top 10 lists earlier this week for David Guetta and Justin Timberlake. You should check those out if you haven't already.

~ The Song Wars results post for Round 5 is out and Round 6 voting is up! Make sure you vote because this is the final round! You can find both links in the web version under the tab "2015/2016 Song Wars".

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Justin Bieber can hold at #1 for a second week in a row with Love Yourself!
