The Morning Mash Up hosted the Weekend Countdown this weekend. I'm happy because they actually know how to announce things like Biggest Jump/DROP!!!, exits/entrants, and recaps of the last five songs after every five songs. Of course, they weren't as good as Spyder Harrison. But these are the people who make my morning commute during the weekdays something to look forward to. So they were entertaining. I wouldn't mind having them host again if needed. Aside from that, congrats to Ellie Goulding as she has achieved her very first #1 song on this countdown on her 5th try. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.
- Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney – FourFiveSeconds (#21)
- Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song (#41) [x2]
- Vance Joy – Riptide (#44)

New Entrants
~ After spending about five or six months on Hit-Bound, AJR debuted with Infinity. I'll hand it to them by saying that it's better than their 2014 song, I'm Ready, in every way possible. But at this point, it is indeed old and I would be happy if it could leave soon. But with the debut all the way up at #22, I don't see that happening any time soon.
~ The 2013 song, Pretty Brown Eyes, is and will probably always be Cody Simpson's best song. His debut this week, New Problems, didn't wow me as much as I had hoped. But it's good. It's kind of slow, but Cody Simpson has nice vocals.
~ Katy Tiz debuted with the annoying Whistle (While You Work It). I'm not a fan of her vocals throughout the whole song and I also think the whistling is quite annoying. Of course that's just me though.
~ YouTube15 veteran All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give debuted this week. All Time Low really are just another undiscovered rock band. This song is pretty good. But I don't know if it necessarily belongs in a countdown containing the (claimed to be) Top 45 songs of North America.
Whistle (While You Blurb It)
~ Tove Lo – Talking Body is in the Top 10 on its third week on the countdown.
~ The Weeknd – Earned It and Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out both made some nice jumps that made me shout, "Finally!"
~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama should not be dropping. It should only be moving up.
~ God dammit Eden XO! How is The Weekend still here?! UGH!!!
~ Nick Jonas – Chains made a nice jump into the Top 10 this week. Could it possibly surpass the peak of Jealous??? We'll have to wait and see.
~ Just so everyone knows, Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire is still on Hit-Bound.
~ It's been months and Bea Miller – Fire N Gold is still airing on Hits 1 without entering either of the weekend shows.
~ The random songs playing on Hits 1 cycle continues as Heymous Molly – Life's A Beach aired quite a bit over the course of the week.
~ The only reason Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down is not in red is because Hits 1 plays the John Legend version. John Legend is the one who makes this song decent-ish. If Hits 1 played the solo version with just Sam Smith, then it would definitely be in red.
~ For whatever reason, Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again STILL hasn't debuted on American Top 40. Looks like they're behind on a song that is EVERYWHERE at the moment.
~ Speaking of See You Again, I was in the car with my mom earlier today and when this song came on Hits 1 with Nicole announcing it having the Biggest Jump Of The Week, I was in tears. The song is absolutely beautiful. Even my mom was kind of in tears when I told her it was a tribute to Paul Walker.
~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You still hasn't debuted after two weeks of it airing quite a bit.
~ Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again will hold #1 for a third week in a row: http://hit45chart.blogspot.com/2015/04/hit-45-chart-week-of-april-25-2015.html
~ I am indeed really happy about this week's #1 song. I wanna give a huge thank you to Hits 1 and all the voters who got this song to overrun Sugar at the top.
~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Adam Lambert – Ghost Town
My Top 5 Picks
1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
2. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
3. The Weeknd – Earned It
4. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
5. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out
