Ellie Goulding (1) – Week Of April 25, 2015

The Morning Mash Up hosted the Weekend Countdown this weekend. I'm happy because they actually know how to announce things like Biggest Jump/DROP!!!, exits/entrants, and recaps of the last five songs after every five songs. Of course, they weren't as good as Spyder Harrison. But these are the people who make my morning commute during the weekdays something to look forward to. So they were entertaining. I wouldn't mind having them host again if needed. Aside from that, congrats to Ellie Goulding as she has achieved her very first #1 song on this countdown on her 5th try. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney – FourFiveSeconds (#21)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again (+19)

New Entrants
~ After spending about five or six months on Hit-Bound, AJR debuted with Infinity. I'll hand it to them by saying that it's better than their 2014 song, I'm Ready, in every way possible. But at this point, it is indeed old and I would be happy if it could leave soon. But with the debut all the way up at #22, I don't see that happening any time soon.

~ The 2013 song, Pretty Brown Eyes, is and will probably always be Cody Simpson's best song. His debut this week, New Problems, didn't wow me as much as I had hoped. But it's good. It's kind of slow, but Cody Simpson has nice vocals.

~ Katy Tiz debuted with the annoying Whistle (While You Work It). I'm not a fan of her vocals throughout the whole song and I also think the whistling is quite annoying. Of course that's just me though.

~ YouTube15 veteran All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give debuted this week. All Time Low really are just another undiscovered rock band. This song is pretty good. But I don't know if it necessarily belongs in a countdown containing the (claimed to be) Top 45 songs of North America.

Whistle (While You Blurb It)
~ Tove Lo – Talking Body is in the Top 10 on its third week on the countdown.

~ The Weeknd – Earned It and Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out both made some nice jumps that made me shout, "Finally!"

~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama should not be dropping. It should only be moving up.

~ God dammit Eden XO! How is The Weekend still here?! UGH!!!

~ Nick Jonas – Chains made a nice jump into the Top 10 this week. Could it possibly surpass the peak of Jealous??? We'll have to wait and see.

~ Just so everyone knows, Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire is still on Hit-Bound.

~ It's been months and Bea Miller – Fire N Gold is still airing on Hits 1 without entering either of the weekend shows.

~ The random songs playing on Hits 1 cycle continues as Heymous Molly – Life's A Beach aired quite a bit over the course of the week.

~ The only reason Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down is not in red is because Hits 1 plays the John Legend version. John Legend is the one who makes this song decent-ish. If Hits 1 played the solo version with just Sam Smith, then it would definitely be in red.

~ For whatever reason, Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again STILL hasn't debuted on American Top 40. Looks like they're behind on a song that is EVERYWHERE at the moment.

~ Speaking of See You Again, I was in the car with my mom earlier today and when this song came on Hits 1 with Nicole announcing it having the Biggest Jump Of The Week, I was in tears. The song is absolutely beautiful. Even my mom was kind of in tears when I told her it was a tribute to Paul Walker.

~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You still hasn't debuted after two weeks of it airing quite a bit.

~ Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again will hold #1 for a third week in a row: http://hit45chart.blogspot.com/2015/04/hit-45-chart-week-of-april-25-2015.html

~ I am indeed really happy about this week's #1 song. I wanna give a huge thank you to Hits 1 and all the voters who got this song to overrun Sugar at the top.

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Adam Lambert – Ghost Town

My Top 5 Picks
1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
2. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
3. The Weeknd – Earned It
4. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
5. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out

Maroon 5 (1) – Week Of April 18, 2015

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Sheppard – Geronimo (–26)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ella Henderson – Ghost (+14)

New Entrants
~ Shoot me now. OneRepublic – I Lived and Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song have re-entered the countdown. What the f**k is wrong with the countdown gods. Now we have to live with these songs for another few weeks depending on how long they stay.

~ Our third re-entry strange enough comes from 5 Seconds Of Summer – What I Like About You. This is their only countdown song that I'm not sick of (yet). Honestly, I don't know where this song is going to land next week, whether it leaves or moves up a few spots. We'll have to wait and see.

~ One of the two best things that happened this week was the debut of the lead single from the Furious 7 soundtrack, Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again. This song is currently the #1 song on iTunes as well as Billboard Hot 100. This song is hands-down one of the best songs of 2015. It's a beautifully written track that is a tribute to former Fast & Furious actor, Paul Walker, who passed away almost a year and a half ago. I don't know how anyone can not like this song. Wiz Khalifa, who is well known for making real shitty music, shows that he can rap about things other than women and sex, which is what the majority of male artists write their songs about nowadays. *cough* our #1 song *cough*. Charlie Puth also contributes a good amount into the song with the nice vocals in the chorus. But all in all, I absolutely love this song. The music video is extremely emotional. It is definitely locked on to a spot for the End Of The Year Top 45. Since it's #1 on iTunes, I should be able to see some success out of it.

This Is My Heartbeat Blurb
~ I'm kind of annoyed that Sugar managed to hit #1, but not Animals. Especially since Animals is way better than Sugar. So I'm a little annoyed by that. But hey, we could've had worse at #1 like Thinking Out Loud or even Uptown Funk.

~ It gets a little more exciting at #2 however. Since this is the highest Ellie Goulding has ever gotten on the countdown, it's pretty clear that Love Me Like You Do is her biggest song up-to-date. I would very much love to see this song hit its well-deserved #1 spot in the near future (by that I mean next week). So if that can happen, I'll be happy.

~ Moving right on down to #3. The fact this is only the second week Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance has spent in the Top 10, it's pretty clear it's aiming for the #1 spot. I really don't mind if this song hits #1. But it will become a problem if it prevents Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do from hitting #1.

~ Flo Rida – GDFR has entered the Top 10. It probably won't be a while until this song gets annoying and I'll be begging for it to leave.

~ The fact that the Biggest Jump Of The Week is Ella Henderson – Ghost is kinda sad. Just putting that out there.

~ Vance Joy – Riptide and Eden XO – The Weekend need to leave the countdown already!!! They should've left this week!

~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You, All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give, and AJR – Infinity all aired quite a bit over the course of the week. It's shocking that they didn't debut.

~ My parents can't stand the YouTube15. Mainly because Jenna Marbles is the host. They think she's annoying. But I actually think she's downright funny. When I listen to it on Friday evenings, she always makes me laugh one way or another. So I very much enjoy listening to her show every week.

#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Avril Lavigne – Fly

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
1. TIE: David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
1. TIE: Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
4. The Weeknd – Earned It
5. Tove Lo – Talking Body

300,000 Pageview Special – Q&A Post

Alright guys! It’s Q&A time! You guys asked the questions, now I give you the answers! I did answer just about every (real) question I got. Meaning if your question was “EVERYTHING”, (and someone did ask that, I’m not saying names) I did not answer that because I need more specific questions. Also, one of the questions I got was “S”. So I don’t know what you’re asking. And you didn’t put your name so I don’t know who sent it. So yeah, I answered all the real questions. So I hope you enjoy.

Q: Do you like me? (As a friend)
A: As a friend, yes. Almost everyone here in the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown blog community I like as a friend. :)

Q: When did you feel you needed to start blogging the SXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown?
A: I never exactly felt a need to start this blog. There was another countdown blog that was active at the time. I really only started this blog for fun because I enjoy expressing my opinions on music, especially hit music. I actually tried an Alt Nation Alt-18 blog, but that didn’t really work out for me because I mainly enjoyed hit music. And that’s exactly what Hits 1 plays. So I decided to try blogging Hits 1’s Weekend Countdown to see where that will take me.

Q: What’s your favorite animal?
A: I really don’t know. I never cared that much about animals. But a lot of my friends say turtle when they get asked this question. So I’ll go turtle. I honestly don’t know. :P

Q: I really love your blog I just wanted to say. I look at it all the time to see popular pop music to look into on grooveshark and see what songs people are interested in. I also love to look at your opinions and notice how they are always almost just like my opinion. I have a question, do you do hitbound and if so, where is it on your blog?
A: First of all, thank you for enjoying my blog and my opinions. I do my best. :P Hit-Bound is something I review every once in a while. Specifically when there is a dramatic change like several new entrants. But I only do Hit-Bound every once in a while.

Q: Have you ever considered having a section on one of yours posts, songs that people should look into? I know in your sidebar you have some songs to download, but not that many. I think you should post more. I know these questions and answers are not for critiquing your blog and are for easy simple question, and i'm sorry if I come of rude. I am just saying a friendly suggestion. You have a really good taste and I get bored listening to the same song for awhile and I wanna keep listening to new songs and I wanna see your opinion. Anyway, I hope your read this! Keep up the amazing work and congrats on 300,000!
A: Thanks for the suggestion! Right now I have a tab at the top of my site titled “New Album Releases” which I haven’t updated in forever. I was actually considering changing it to “New Hit Songs” where I have a list of new songs to check out before they become popular. I may very likely do that so you guys can have some new songs to look up. And thank you for helping me reach 300,000 pageviews. :)

Q: Do you have a song that you never get tired of hearing? If so, what is it?
A: There are actually a few songs that I never get tired of hearing. The main two songs I never get tired of are Avicii/Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up and Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame.

Q: What is your perfect pizza?
A: I’m not really a huge fan of pizza. It’s not necessarily my go-to food. But my perfect pizza would probably be just sausage pizza, maybe some pepperoni. Very simple. Because I’m a basic b**ch. :P

Q: Are you a male or a female?
A: Very good question. Hmmmmm. Am I male or female? I’m male.

Q: When did you first start to get interested in the Weekend Countdown?
A: It was around the time when P!nk/Nate Ruess - Just Give Me A Reason, Olly Murs - Troublemaker, and Fall Out Boy - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) were battling for the #1 spot. I started to realize it was pop music that I was mostly into. And I became very interested in the Weekend Countdown. One of the reasons is Spyder Harrison’s awesome DJing.

Q: Do you play RockBand? Xbox or Playstation? What's your favorite restaurant? First concert?
A: No I don’t play RockBand. I used to play Xbox however. But now I don’t. My favorite restaurant is most likely Portillo’s. They have some of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had. And finally, I’ve never been to a concert. A little shocking. But it’s true.

Q: What is your favorite group of debuts ever?
A: As of right now, I think the best group of debuts is one of our recent ones. The group consists of these songs:

  • Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody
  • Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside
  • The Weeknd – Earned It
  • Zedd/Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know

Q: How old are you?
A: I’m 15. But I’ll be turning 16 in less than a month.

Q: Who was your 1st blog member?
A: I literally do not know. I’m going to guess it was reader Dylan George. But I’m not completely sure. He was definitely one of the first ones to start commenting.

Q: How often does Lance warren update?
A: Lance Warren, like me, posts the countdown on a weekly basis as well as his T45 chart. You can check it out at hiits1weekendcountdown.blogspot.com.

Q: Throwback song?
A: Apparently not everyone has the same definition of “throwback”. My definition of throwback is anything that was at least a year ago. So my throwback song will be the first solo mainstream single for one of my favorite artists. It is Calvin Harris – Feel So Close.

Q: Would you date a guy or a woman?
A: Personally, I would prefer to date a guy. But that’s just me. :P

Q: Have you kissed a guy?
A: No I haven’t.

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A:
  • Sex
  • Sex
  • Sex
  • More sex
  • Sex

Lol just kidding….maybe… ;)

My main hobby is listening to music and I do that very often. Often enough where I don’t go a day without listening to music. Music is life!!! Anyway, I hate sports and I don’t really like any outdoor activities. I’m more of an indoor kind of person. I don’t know if blogging counts as a hobby but if it does, then that’s another one. I don’t really have that much though. I never realize how boring my life is until someone asks me, “What do you do for fun?” or “What are your hobbies?

Q: What’s your most favorite song?
A: As of right now, it is probably Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame. That may change soon. It may not. I don’t know yet. But I would definitely like to hear some new music from John Newman.

Q: How did your countdown chart get so famous?
A: I honestly didn’t think it would get this famous. It’s because people apparently enjoy reading this blog enough to come back every week. It used to be something I would just do for fun every week. But by hitting 300,000 pageviews, I realized that this is something that is important enough for me to set an hour aside every weekend to work on my new post. I enjoy seeing this blog grow in pageviews and comments. Now I’m giving better song reviews and I have a whole lot added to it like these milestones. My hope is to keep this blog going as long as I can. There will obviously be an end eventually, but that won’t be coming anytime soon and you shouldn’t worry about when it might be. Let’s just worry about the present right now instead of the future.

Q: Can you look up Bea Miller - open your eyes and tell me what you think of it?
A: It might just be the best song I’ve heard from Bea Miller. Young Blood was an okay song and Fire N Gold was pretty good. But this song surpasses both of those. So overall, I really like it. Out of the three songs I’ve heard from her, this one is the best.

Alright guys! Those were my answers to all your questions. I may or may not consider doing this again. Real quick, you all should check out Steve Aoki’s new single featuring Linkin Park called Darker Than Blood. I’ve been waiting for this song to be released for forever and I am not disappointed by it! So check it out. Countdown post will coming out this weekend as usual.

Taylor Swift (1) – Week Of April 11, 2015

Recently Taylor Swift shared that her mother, Andrea Finlay, has been diagnosed with cancer. I don't know about you but I'm praying for her mother. New Entrants
~ Long-time Hit-Bound veteran Tove Lo – Talking Body debuted this week. I hated this song at first. But within the several months it was on Hit-Bound, I've grown to enjoy it for what it is. And what it is is a very sexual song. But damn is it catchy!

~ After his last countdown song lasted only two weeks, David Guetta is back with the DJ help of Afrojack on the track Hey Mama, featuring Nicki Minaj in the verses and Bebe Rexha in the chorus. Another kinda sexual song. I'm pretty sure there's no other reason someone would want to be called like "Hey Mama". The song is really catchy. It's one of my personal faves from Guetta's album, Listen. I really hope to see some success out of it.

~ Finally, we have returning artists Charli XCX and Rita Ora. After they both collaborated with Iggy Azalea to make two smash hits, they thought they would make a good collaboration themselves, and they did. Their song Doing It is probably Charli XCX's best song. Though I enjoy Rita Ora's part more than Charli XCX's, it's still a really catchy which I hope to some success out of unlike her last countdown song, Break The Rules.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Cash Cash/Julia Michaels – Surrender
  • Cody Simpson – New Problems
  • Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi – I Need Your Love
  • Betty Who – All Of You
  • All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give
  • INNA/Marian Hill – Diggy Down
  • Katy Tiz – Whistle (While You Work It)
  • Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You
  • Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love
  • Sia – Elastic Heart
  • Ryn Weaver – OctaHate
  • Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
  • Who Is Fancy – Goodbye
  • Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
2. Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You
3. Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi – I Need Your Love
4. INNA/Marian Hill – Diggy Down
5. Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry

I Think We Better Blurb It Like We're Blurbing It Now
~ CAUTION: Maroon 5 – Sugar has reached the dangerous #2 spot. If Style can do its best and hold the #1 spot as long as possible, that would be greatly appreciated.

~ I've just about had it with Hits 1 underranking the #4 song on iTunes.

~ Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney – FourFive Seconds finally got the jump it deserved.

~ How the f**k is Heroes and Don't still here? Hits 1 needs to get their act together and realize those songs aren't popular anymore.

~ Good riddance to ALL of these exits, you all deserved to leave!!!

~ Take a look at this countdown. Do you see anything missing? No? This week marks the first week since November 16, 2013 where we do not have a OneRepublic song on the countdown. Please note that this streak of weeks with Fall Out Boy on the countdown is still continuing from February 9, 2013. We've already surpassed the two-year mark. Who knews how long this will continue.

~ R5 – Let's Not Be Alone Tonight is slowly moving up again.

~ Olly Murs/Demi Lovato – Up and Robin Schulz/Jasmine Thompson – Sun Goes Down continue to trend on the YouTube15 w/ Jenna Marbles. Seriously I remember Sun Goes Down trending back in December of last year.

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Rihanna – Bitch Better Have My Money (It's my new jam!!!)

My Top 5 Picks
1. Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It
2. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
3. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
4. Taylor Swift – Style

Well guys. I'm back from Spring Break. I got a few more days until I return to school. I have a lot of catching up to do. But anyway, this countdown sucked this week. Like it SUCKED!!! New Entrants
~ With our only entrant being the re-entry of Ed Sheeran – Don't, our Bottom 5 now consists of three re-entrants. And I would like them all to leave next week if that's possible.

Tryna Break The Blurbs But The Blurbs Only Break Me
~ Yes, I still have people telling me "Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars". I don't know why but it just bothers me so much!!! That's why I underlined "Mark Ronson feat.".

~ Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody clearly went too far up too quickly, so it just gave itself the third biggest drop of the week. Not okay people!

~ I could've sworn OneRepublic – I Lived was going to fall off the countdown from #18. But no, it had to have another week.

~ Wtf is Sheppard – Geronimo doing back in the Top 10?!?! I know I get pretty sick of alternative music, but this just goes beyond everything in terms of how sick I am of it.

~ Taylor Swift continues her streak of weeks in the Top 10 by passing it down to our #2 song, Style. It seems as though this song is only thing that can cure this countdown with a new #1. While I prefer our #5 or even our #4, Style is the only song that I'm positive will take over the countdown.

~ Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives is another song that is still really popular and left too early.

~ Vance Joy – Riptide is annoying the crap out of me right now!!! Get out of this countdown!!!

~ Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry debuted on Hit-Bound. I have definitely heard better from Steve Aoki. This song is alright though.

~ Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again has recently hit #1 on iTunes. Let's get that song to the countdown please! I love it!

~ Today is Austin Mahone's birthday! He is now 19 years old. Happy Birthday from everyone here at the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown blog. #HappyBirthdayAustinMahone (He's so cute!)

~ BREAKING NEWS: It is rumored (and most likely true) that Taylor Swift now has a name to write in her blank space. And that name is Calvin Harris. They've been spotted holding hands quite a bit recently, which reporters apparently count as PDA. I expect two things out of this relationship.
  1. A new Calvin Harris track featuring vocals from Taylor Swift.
  2. (If they break up) A new Taylor Swift song about her relationship with Calvin Harris.

(Yes, I'm only in it for the music. But I'm a music critique. So what do you expect?)

I don't see this relationship lasting very long since Taylor Swift doesn't exactly know how to keep a boyfriend for a long period of time. But we'll see. I would like to see this relationship go for a little while. But you know celebrities. They can't keep relationships for very long, especially Taylor Swift. But from Calvin Harris' and Rita Ora's relationship some time last year, Rita Ora's song I Will Let You Down was created featuring the DJ help of Calvin Harris. So let's see how this relationship will go in terms of possible collaborations.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
2. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out
3. Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody
4. Nick Jonas – Chains
5. R5 – Let's Not Be Alone Tonight

My Bottom 5 Picks
1. Sheppard – Geronimo
2. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
3. Vance Joy – Riptide
4. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
5. Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song
