Mark Ronson (1) – Week Of January 31, 2015

This week was definitely more interesting than last week. We had some big jumps, we had some big drops. We had some good entrants. And 75% of our exits were absolute trash. I also realize that there are 3 songs in orange. They are all equally bad. They're so bad that they had to be put in orange. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – Ammesia (#18)
  • Echosmith – Cool Kids (#34)
  • Tove Lo – Habits (Stay High) (#38)
  • Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It (#43)

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: The Vamps/Demi Lovato – Somebody To You (–23)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (+22)

New Entrants
~ First up, we have a re-entry from David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous. I doubt this song will last another week. Assuming that it doesn't, this song will still have the shortest tenure of 2015 until another song comes and goes after one week. This song will probably end up being a 2-weeker.

~ Ellie Goulding is back with a song that isn't appearing on any other charts at the moment. The song that is popular almost everywhere is her second collaboration with Calvin Harris, called Outside. It just debuted on AT40 this week. So if Hits 1 can get this song on the countdown soon, that would be appreciated. Love Me Like You Do is a catchy song from the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack. I personally think Beating Heart, which was featured on the Divergent soundtrack, was a better song. That, however, did not successfully graduate from Hit-Bound.

~ Yes. I am tired of Ed Sheeran. But All About It is really catchy. (Probably because it was produced by Hoodie Allen.) In this song, Ed Sheeran shows that he can still be a part of some upbeat pop music and not slow love songs. It's kinda like, my very first opinion of Don't. Upbeat and really catchy. Let's just hope All About It doesn't get to where Don't is now.

~ Robin Schulz remixed yet another song that's hitting the charts. No one really acknowledged Schulz after remixing Mr. Probz – Waves. But they're starting to do so now that he remixed Prayer In C, which was originally produced by Lilly Wood & The Prick. The original is much slower than this remix. I do think the remix is better. Let's hope this song has a better countdown tenure than Waves did.

Hit-Bound
Shawn Mendes hosted Hit-Bound this week. He was interesting to listen to.

~ With how little airplay it gets, I don't think Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire will successfully graduate from Hit-Bound.

~ AJR – Infinity has been on Hit-Bound for what seems like forever. Can it just leave eventually? This is getting annoying.

~ The Script – Superheroes is also still on Hit-Bound. I really want this song to debut. But I feel like it'll be another Dangerous where its countdown tenure will not make up for its Hit-Bound tenure.

~ For those of you who followed this blog around mid-2014, you'd know that Peter Thomas/Betty Who – All Of You was on Hit-Bound. That song was eventually removed from iTunes, as well as other sites like Spotify. I was sad because it was a good song. But then I realized that it was featured in Betty Who's most recent album, which also had 3-weeker and Hit-Bound veteran, Somebody Loves You. The song is back on Hit-Bound. The only difference is that Peter Thomas is not credited. It's like he made the song, but then decided he didn't want it to be his. So he gave the entire song to Betty Who and she has all the credit. Interesting how that works.

~ Priory – Weekend and Tove Lo – Talking Body are the two worst songs on Hit-Bound.

~ Becky G – Can't Stop Dancin' apparently left Hit-Bound? Can that be confirmed or will it air on demand or something?

Blurber In C
~ Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song is already in the Top 10 on just its third week. Do I see some #1 potential in this song? Probably.

~ Ariana Grande/The Weeknd – Love Me Harder took a little bit of tumble down to #31. No, I'm not happy. I can never get my way on this countdown.

~ Speaking of me never getting my way, Maroon 5 – Animals has dropped all the way to #28. This song actually hit #1 on AT40!!! Why did it not hit #1 here??? I'm disappointed.

~ One Direction – Steal My Girl is not on any other charts at this point. Just leave already!

~ With all the other songs above it, I don't necessarily see Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life hitting #1 anytime soon.

~ I'm just gonna wait for a remix of Thinking Out Loud to come out. Then maybe I'll listen to it. I'm not interested in any slow love songs at the moment.

~ So there's this really cool YouTuber who has been reviewing album for a few years now. He kinda became a professional album reviewer who reviews all the albums coming out nowadays. You should check out his YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/AlbumReviewTV). Earlier this week, I asked him for his opinion on Maroon 5 – Sugar. Here's his reply:

And here was my reply:

Displaying photo 2.PNG

So as you can see, he clearly agrees that Sugar is indeed, horrible. Adam Levine is a male singer. He shouldn't try sounding like a female singer. If that's really the path he wants to take, I can't stop him. But I'm just saying what's better.

~ I didn't think 5 Seconds Of Summer – What I Like About You would last very long. I'm glad I was wrong.

~ Hozier – Take Me To Church made that nice jump into the Top 5 this week. I would love for this song to hit #1. Is that too much to ask?

~ Tomorrow is SuperBowl Sunday. I will probably not watch the game because I don't like football. I actually don't like sports in general. I'll probably watch for the commercials and maybe I'll watch Katy Perry's half-time performance. We'll see.

~ Trending On YouTube This Week: US President Barack Obama singing Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk. Here is the link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSnx4V_RewE (Video Rate: 5 out of 5)

My Top 5 Picks
1. Hozier – Take Me To Church
2. Lilly Wood & The Prick/Robin Schulz – Prayer In C
3. Ella Henderson – Ghost
4. Hoodie Allen/Ed Sheeran – All About It
5. Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives

Fall Out Boy (2) – Week Of January 24, 2015

It's not a surprise that when you have Fall Out Boy host the countdown, their song is at #1. The same thing happened in 2013 with My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up). That's why I always start questioning when our host is someone who has a song on the countdown. No songs leaving the countdown this week. So let's get right to it!

12. Ella Henderson – Ghost (#5)
11. One Direction – Night Changes (#17)
10. Sam Smith – I'm Not The Only One (#9)
  9. The Vamps/Demi Lovato – Somebody To You (#6)
  8. Hozier – Take Me To Church (#12)
  7. Nick Jonas – Jealous (#16)
  6. Maroon 5 – Animals (#14)
  5. Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin' (#8)
  4. MKTO – American Dream (#4)
  3. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (#3)
  2. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#2)
  1. Fall Out Boy – Centuries (#1) [2nd Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (–28)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie Between Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good and Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song (+12)

The Blurbing Tree
~ James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree took a Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame drop to #32 after airing quite a bit over the course of the week. Can this please be fixed?

~ Hozier – Take Me To Church finally made that jump into the Top 10. I'm very happy about that.

~ Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin' is in the Top 5. I'm actually kinda happy about that.

~ 5 Seconds Of Summer – She Looks So Perfect + Amnesia and OneRepublic – Love Runs Out need to leave the countdown as soon as possible. This gets more annoying every week. We have songs on Hit-Bound like The Script – Superheroes that probably won't make it on the countdown because these songs are hogging up spots. So please leave.

~ I forgot to mention this last week, but Taylor Swift – Shake It Off is officially out of the Top 10. I'm sure you can tell by now.

~ I actually forced myself to listen to Maroon 5 – Sugar the whole way through while watching the music video. I can't stand the song at all! But looking at the comments on YouTube, people actually like this. However, the video was good. It was basically the band crashing every wedding they could and surprising the couple who was getting married with a performance of this song.

~ Looks like Maroon 5 – Animals won't give up without a fight! Can this song overrun those Top 3 songs and hit #1??? I sure hope so. But we'll have to wait and see. #ReturningToTeamAnimals

~ We talked about two of the three Maroon 5 songs. We might as well talk about the third. This is one of the only countdowns which still has Maps in it. I shockingly still like it. I don't know. This song is just too catchy to get sick of. This song can stay as long as it likes. It was just too good to begin with. And it's still good now.

~ Unfortunately R5 – Smile left Hit-Bound already. Kat Dahlia – Crazy shows no sign of returning. Nick Jonas – Chains is finally on Hit-Bound. Neither Jessie J – Masterpiece nor Taylor Swift – Style entered Hit-Bound this week.

~ I wanna give a quick shoutout to our blog reader, Remy who turned 14 earlier this week. Happy Belated Birthday Remy!

~ Of the 45 songs on the countdown, only 15 of them are really good. Things get darker every week.

~ Best Song On YouTube15 w/ Jenna Marbles: Olly Murs/Demi Lovato – Up

My Top 5 Picks
1. James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree
2. Hozier – Take Me To Church
3. Ella Henderson – Ghost
4. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good
5. Maroon 5 – Animals

Fall Out Boy (1) – Week Of January 17, 2015

This countdown wasn't so good. After 15 straight weeks of Taylor Swift at #1, we finally have a new #1 artist. It's a song that should've hit #1 a long time ago. Our exit list is full of short tenured songs. Also, Remy and Jack Lambert are probably the only people left who can agree with me on song opinions. Lance and I don't really agree that much. But Mikey agree on absolutely nothing. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Charli XCX – Break The Rules (#18)

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It (–20)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life (+16)

New Entrants
~ We shall go in order from worst to best entrant. Worst entrant this week = our #1 artist themselves, Fall Out Boy with Uma Thurman. It sounds kinda like a theme song that would be featured in some action movie. The song isn't bad, it's just not good. I'm kinda disappointed in their new album so far. I don't think any album they make can be good as Save Rock and Roll

~ Next we have Maroon 5 returning with Sugar, their third song currently on the countdown. Apparently, some people really like this. I'm not really feeling it though. As much as I wanted to like it, I just can't stand how high Adam Levine sings in the chorus. It's actually kind of annoying. For someone who has been a Maroon 5 fan since the beginning, this is a disappointment.

~ The Pitbull and Ne-Yo collab has returned. This song is a disappointment compared to their last popular collab, Give Me Everything from 2011. That doesn't necessarily mean Time Of Our Lives is bad. It's good. It just doesn't hit the height of Give Me Everything. But it's Mr. Worldwide. (Most of the time) You can't go wrong with him.

~ Our second best entrant comes from returning artist Kelly Clarkson with Heartbeat Song. When this song came on the radio, I had to tell my dad not to change the station since that's what he does when he hears a Kelly Clarkson song because he's not a huge fan of her. The song is good. It's doesn't quite hit the height of Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) from 2012. But it's good. These entrants were all pretty generic and bland songs from artists who have had better. At these four were...

~ Our final and best entrant comes from 5 Seconds Of Summer, who debuted with their best song right now, What I Like About You. It sounds more like She Looks So Perfect than it does Amnesia. But it's super catchy and a fun song to jam out to. Please stay for a while. You were the only really good entrant this week.

What I Like About Blurbs
~ It's only the third week of the year and we already have a song in the Most Hysterically Short Tenure Of 2015 area. Goodbye David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous. It was fun having you around. This does not make up for the time it was on Hit-Bound.

~ I did not think Ella Henderson – Ghost would even be a Top 10 song, let alone a Top 5 song.

~ This is the second week in a row Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It had the Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week.

~ How the hell is MisterWives – Reflections still here??? Her voice is so annoying it's not even funny. When I hear her singing in the verses, I literally wanna rip my ears off.

~ I do not want OneRepublic – Love Runs Out to become something it doesn't have to be. I'm giving you the chance the leave before I start to hate on you. I suggest you take that opportunity while it lasts. Otherwise, I'll be running until the love for this song runs out.

~ I realize that the Which Song Is Better? Competition (Round 2 Voting) has been going on for almost two weeks. I apologize for the lack of updating. But this upcoming week (only Tuesday through Thursday), I have final exams for the first semester. I do have some free time during the week. So I will update it ASAP.

~ Mary J. Blige – Right NowShawn Mendes – Something Big, and Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside. are some songs that have been playing on my Pandora station, Today's Top Hits. It was very interesting.

~ I heard Bea Miller – Fire N Gold right before the countdown early this morning. It's really good! Definitely better than Young Blood! I hope it can air more on Hits 1.

~ Nick Jonas – Chains has aired a few times over the course of the week. I'm surprised it's not on Hit-Bound.

~ Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up finally re-entered Hit-Bound after weeks of not being on Hit-Bound nor the countdown.

~ In the countdown right now, we got more green songs leaving, more red songs entering, songs getting old fast, and less than half the countdown is in green!!! I'm afraid to say we may be entering the Dark Ages of this countdown......

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Prince Royce/Snoop Dogg – Stuck On A Feeling

My Top 5 Picks
1. Hozier – Take Me To Church
2. 5 Seconds Of Summer – What I Like About You
3. James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree
4. Ella Henderson – Ghost
5. Vance Joy – Riptide

Taylor Swift (3) – Week Of January 10, 2015

This week was definitely more interesting than last week in a way. Obviously, we still have the same #1 song. Two really good songs left. But we had mostly good debuts. Notice how I said "mostly". We'll get more into that when we reach the new entrants review. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Nico and Vinz – In Your Arms (#18)
  • Mary J. Blige – Therapy (#22)

  1. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#1) [3rd Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Tie Between Eden XO – Too Cool To Dance and Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It (–9)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (+12)

New Entrants
~ Kicking off our first entrants of the year with long-time Hit-Bound veteran, David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous. The last time we heard from David Guetta was in mid-2012 with his hit, Titanium featuring Sia. Dangerous isn't his best song. But it is really, really good. Let's just hope it stays with us for a while.

~ AronChupa debuted with I'm An Albatraoz. I don't think it'll be very long until I get sick of that extremely repetitive beat. But for now, I like it. About two months from now, however, I'll probably be looking back at this review and say, "What the hell was I thinking?" But the song is good.....for now.

~ Megan Nicole – Fun is actually a really fun song. I really like it. It was kinda a competition for the best entrant between this song and Dangerous. I'm just gonna hope it stays for a while because this song seems like it'll have an Olivia Somerlyn – Parachute kind of countdown tenure. And I don't want that.

~ The Vamps are back with 16-year-old Shawn Mendes! Their song, Oh Cecilia is really good. It was good when I first heard it on the YouTube15 with Jenna Marbles. It is still good now. And I love Shawn Mendes! He has the kind of voice that instantly tell apart from others.

~ What you see is not a lie. Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life is indeed in pink. When you have a mother that falls in love with a song and is constantly singing it and playing it everyday, it can get pretty old really fast. We'll see how long it takes until this song enters the yellow/turquoise stage. Nothing else to say about it.

Hit-Bound
~ Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives left Hit-Bound???

~ Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance is on Hit-Bound! How exciting!

~ Maroon 5 – Sugar is on Hit-Bound. Adam Levine is pretty well-known for his high falsetto tone (that and being 2013's Sexiest Man Alive). But in this song, he takes the falsetto tone a bit too far in the chorus as in the chorus, he goes extremely high. This is most definitely not Maroon 5's best song. Maybe it'll grow on me. Maybe not. We'll see.

~ I have not heard Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman. So I have no review on it.

~ Looking at Ryan Cabrera's music, I can see he's made music in the early 2000's. His comeback single, House On Fire is currently on Hit-Bound. It's pretty good.

~ R5 – Smile is now one of my new favorite songs on Hits 1. It's incredibly fantastic! :)

~ Here's the entire Hit-Bound list (Ugly Greenish Color = No Opinion).

  • The Script – Superheroes
  • R5 – Smile
  • Hoodie Allen/Ed Sheeran – All About It
  • Maroon 5 – Sugar
  • AJR – Infinity
  • Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman
  • Tove Lo – Talking Body
  • Ne-Yo – She Knows
  • Priory – Weekend
  • Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire
  • Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance
  • Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party
  • Becky G – Can't Stop Dancin'
  • Kat Dahlia – Crazy

Top 5 Songs On Hit-Bound
1. R5 – Smile
2. Becky G – Can't Stop Dancin'
3. Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party
4. The Script – Superheroes
5. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance

Oh Blurbilia
~ I'm surprised Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives didn't debut this week. It had a decent amount of airplay. And now, it's not on Hit-Bound either. I'm fine if it leaves Hits 1 forever. I also thought The Script – Superheroes could've made it into the countdown. If this next week, it can play as much as it did this past week, it could possibly make it countdown. As the new oldest song on Hit-Bound, it's a lot of pressure. At this point for this song, it's do or die.

~ I've officially heard Sheppard – Geronimo WAY too many times. And that's shocking for a song that I really only hear on Hits 1. But if it can please start moving down, that would be appreciated.

~ Somehow MisterWives – Reflections and Mr. Probz/Robin Schulz – Waves are still here after airing somewhere between 1 and 0 times this past week.

~ I noticed that Nico and Vinz – In Your Arms and Mary J. Blige – Therapy both just stopped airing at some point during the week. But I didn't realize they would leave already. I expected them to drop.

~ Speaking of drops, our Biggest DROPS!!! just keep on getting smaller. And this week, it's the very unlucky Eden XO – Too Cool To Dance falling right back down to #41 and the shocking Iggy Azalea – Beg For It falling to #24.

~ The bottom third of the countdown needs a clean-out of all the songs besides the new entrants, Sledgehammer, and Too Cool To Dance.

~ If Hits 1 could do me a favor and get rid of Taylor Swift from the #1 spot, that would be appreciated. Get Mark Ronson at the top.

~ Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame is still in the Top 3 on the American Top 40. It left on this countdown. For those who are new to this blog, you'll see that I will be constantly ranting about how different the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown and the American Top 40 are from each other.

~ Speaking of AT40, I was listening to the countdown and I accidently heard I Love Makonnen/Drake – Tuesday when it came on as an AT40 On The Verge track, but I didn't know it was this because I stopped listening to the countdown for a few minutes and when I came back, the song had just started. But I didn't hear Ryan Seacrest announce it. The song is absolutely horrible! But knowing Hits 1, I know they won't put this song on their countdown.

~ Sam Smith – I'm Not The Only One needs to be banished from the Top 5 forever.

~ R.I.P. – Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame and Olivia Somerlyn – Parachute. You will both be missed and you will never be forgotten.
