New Entrants
~ Debuting way too high at #14 is Halsey with Nightmare. This song honestly sucks and Halsey is capable of making good songs (see Alone). But this is just terrible and I cannot stand the chorus. We don't need Halsey yelling. She sounds awful. The rest of the song is mediocre. And honestly she is not worth much more of my time. I hate this song, I think she's overrated, and I'll just leave it at that for the time being.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list.

  • Push Baby – Mama's House (DEBUT)
  • Martin Garrix/Macklemore/Patrick Stump – Summer Days
  • In Real Life – Crazy AF (DEBUT)
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – Easier (DEBUT)
  • SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
  • Ava Max – So Am I
  • Jonas Brothers – Cool
  • The Chainsmokers – Kills You Slowly
  • Khalid – Talk
  • P!nk – Hustle
  • Kygo/Rita Ora – Carry On
  • Alec Benjamin – If We Have Each Other
  • Bazzi – Paradise
  • Andy Grammer – Don't Give Up On Me
  • Mabel – Don't Call Me Up

~ I haven't talked about over half of these and I don't really feel like it, so I'll just speed through. Push Baby (formerly Rixton) bring Mama's House and it sucks. Crazy AF is fine, but lacks anything to make it memorable. And Easier is underwhelming. Please remember that 5 Seconds of Summer is a band. There is no band here. They should be held to higher standards than this because they can do so much better.

~ Summer Days is only here because of Patrick Stump because I know Hits 1 doesn't give a rat's ass about Martin Garrix despite how talented he is. It's a good song, but Garrix has done a lot better and I feel like this song should be better.

~ Hustle is pretty good but once again, there is much better on the album. I don't even think this was released as an official single. But it's here and it's good. But I've listened to Hurts 2B Human and there are at least five songs on there that are better than this including all of the collaborations except the Cash Cash one.

~ Carry On is good but one of Kygo's weaker singles. I do want to point out that this is tropical house. This is what Kygo does and this is what got him started. So if you think this is underwhelming, this is kind of what you should expect from someone who does tropical house. I like Rita Ora here and I think the song is nice.

~ I don't remember how Don't Give Up On Me sounds and I don't feel like listening to it now. More thoughts on it in the future. Don't Call Me Up is really catchy and I quite like her voice. So I'm impressed. I know I said the same thing about Sweet But Psycho when it was new, but I feel like this will stick longer.

~ Maybe I'm Afraid by lovelytheband finally dropped out, along with Two Of Us by Louis Tomlinson, which does not surprise me since this never became a hit.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Kygo/Rita Ora – Carry On
2. Mabel – Don't Call Me Up
3. SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
4. P!nk – Hustle
5. Martin Garrix/Macklemore/Patrick Stump – Summer Days

Blurbs
~ Time to go off on this countdown because almost nothing has changed in the amount of time I've been away. Sucker is still #1. This is too long. It is a good song. Hits 1 is treating it like the best thing ever and it's not. This is more so about the Jonas Brothers returning and not so much about the song.

~ Why the fuck is Without Me in the Top 2??? This song should not still be here and there's no way it's the #2 song in North America.

~ Who Do You Love and Hey Look Ma, I Made It are starting to get overplayed and are fading on me. And then Sweet But Psycho has already done a complete 180 on me. Radio killed it.

~ How is This Feeling still in the Top 15? I honestly forgot this song exists because it's not relevant anymore. Hits 1 made this a much bigger hit than it should've been and now they're holding on to it too long.

~ High Hopes still in the Top 20 is insane. I've been a defender for this song since day one. But this is pushing it. It's time for this song to drop seriously. And don't even get me started on Close To Me, which has proven to be one of Ellie Goulding's worst songs. The annoying chorus and mediocre production are not doing it any favors.

~ Old Town Road is awful and should not be in the Top 20. This is Hits 1's attempt at trying to be cool because they like this joke of a song.

~ I'm So Tired thankfully dropped out of the Top 20 and Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored is slowly dropping as well, which is good.

~ In better news, Medicine is in the Top 30, which it deserves. It's a great song and insanely catchy.

~ When The Party's Over is just chilling in the Bottom 5 and hopefully it will leave soon because the song absolutely sucks. And I completely forgot Low Key was here. That song sucks as well and is not relevant at all.

~ And coming in dead last is the best song on the countdown, which is a problem. Shallow deserved much better than it got. I'm thankful it got a second run here and got to spend more time in the Top 20. But it really deserved some weeks in the Top 10. This is an Oscar-winning song and it was not treated as such.

~ The one exit this week was Dumb Blonde, which does not surprise me since Avril Lavigne cannot seem to get another hit unfortunately.

Update: What's To Come

Hey guys! So I haven't posted in almost a month. I've been super busy with my last few weeks of school. I've had a ton of final work and this past week was my graduation from my community college with my associate's degree. So I've had a lot going on recently and now I'm behind on stuff here. I don't want to make multiple posts for each countdown I've missed, so I'm just gonna do mini recaps here.

Week of May 4, 2019:
~ This week, the Jonas Brothers were at #6 for a sixth week in a row. There was not very much interesting movement on the countdown. But there were three interesting debuts. Dancing's Not A Crime by Panic! At The Disco debuted at #40. I thought this was overproduced and messy at first. But after seeing them and hearing it live, it did grow on me. I think it's fun even though it's one of the weaker songs from Pray For The Wicked. I think The Overpass or King Of The Clouds would've been a better single choice. But this is still good. On the not-so-good side is Boy With Luv by BTS featuring Halsey debuting at #35. I think BTS is very overhyped. I find their music generic and this is no different. It's kind of annoying. Their voices are not that good and I don't like their rapper at all. Halsey only sings a couple lines backup in the chorus. It's just a very overhyped single that did not deliver and I honestly didn't expect it to. Lastly at #13 was ME! by Taylor Swift featuring Brendon Urie. This is the best lead single she's released since We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. It's fun and catchy. They have great chemistry and I think it was a great collab. The lines are kind of cheesy, but it's a fun song that I can't help but smile to. The exits consisted of Wait For You by Jake Miller (which I forgot existed), Undrunk by Fletcher, and Natural by Imagine Dragons. The latter two were good, but them leaving doesn't affect me very much.

Week of May 11, 2019:
~ Sucker by the Jonas Brothers was #1 for a seventh week. Shocker. ME! by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie entered the Top 10, which is not very surprising. Dancing With A Stranger had an undeserving 11-spot drop. Boy With Luv entered the Top 20 because Hits 1 is trying to appeal to the BTS army, which is a huge fanbase from what I've seen. Also Out Of Love by Alessia Cara held at #39. This is a really boring song and I'm not surprised to see it not doing very well. I'm not sure why they picked it up in the first place. There were four debuts this week. Billie Eilish debuted with When The Party's Over at #42 and Bad Guy at #34. It's obvious which of these is better but I don't like either of them. Bad Guy is kinda catchy and production-wise, it's not bad. Her voice kind of ruins though because I'm just not a fan of her whispery, breathy voice. To me, that's not really talent. The vocal effects are kind of weird too. And then When The Party's Over is a fucking snooze fest. This is one of the most boring this I've ever heard and I don't know why they would push this to radio because people will fall asleep and that will cause accidents. So yeah. It's easily the worst of the three Billie Eilish on the countdown. Fortunately, Medicine by Jennifer Lopez and French Montana debuted at #33. I think this song is a bop. It's well-produced and catchy as hell. JLo sounds great here and I really like French Montana's verse. I think it's a very infectious tune and I'm happy to see it here. And then of course at #17 is If I Can't Have You by Shawn Mendes. I like the song but he's done better. I much prefer In My Blood, Lost In Japan, and Youth. It's still good and it's really catchy. But since it debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, it's become his highest-peaking song and I don't know how to feel about that because it's not his best work. That being said, I'm not sure how long it'll stick with me. I can see it being the next There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back. The exits consisted of In Betweenin' by Austin Brown, Eastside by Benny Blanco w/ Halsey and Khalid, 2002 by Anne-Marie, and Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee. In Betweenin' was never that good and it was always irrelevant. 2002 should've left a long ass time ago. This song was never a big hit anywhere else here in the states. But Hits 1 have become Anne-Marie stans for some ungodly reason. So I'm sure this will be on their year-end list. And then Eastside and Sunflower were getting old. Sunflower has become pretty overrated. It's an okay song, but did not deserve to be as big as it was. So I'm glad it's gone.

Week of May 18, 2019:
~ You can probably guess the #1 if you don't already know. ME! by Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie rose to #3. I can see this being a #1 hit in the future possibly. Walk Me Home by P!nk also hit a new a peak in the Top 10. I listened to her Hurts 2B Human album and there are much better songs on there than Walk Me Home. It's good but it was a poor single choice in my opinion. It's good for radio since radio is all over basic pop. But quality-wise, it's one of the less interesting songs from the album, which I thought was good overall. If I Can't Have You also jumped into the Top 10 on its second week, which kind of shocked me, but at the same time it didn't. What did shock me was Here With Me by Marshmello featuring CHVRCHES hitting the Top 10. I'm glad to see this become a hit. It's a great song from a mediocre producer. Old Town Road by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus had the Biggest Jump of the Week into the Top 20 because Hits 1 is hopping onto the trend of liking Old Town Road even though the song sucks. Boy With Luv by BTS featuring Halsey and Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored by Ariana Grande were tied for the Biggest DROP!!!... of the Week, which is good because both songs are pretty bad. Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is sitting in the Bottom 5 and I do wish this had a better second run here. I'm glad it had a second run at all, but I would've liked to have seen a Top 10 peak or something. I thought it deserved better. The first of the two debuts was Flexible by Jordan McGraw at #39. I remember nothing about this song other than the fact that it's mediocre. At #12 was I Don't Care by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber. I'm kind of indifferent on this song. It's not bad but it's not that good either. I kinda liked it at first, but it shrunk on me pretty quickly and now it's kind of just there. This week's exits were 11 Minutes by Yungblud w/ Halsey and Travis Barker and Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande. 11 Minutes was never really that good and I'm glad it didn't become a hit. And then Thank U, Next was the beginning of Ariana Grande's downfall. I don't hate the song, but it's flavorless and it was the start of a bad era for her because this then led to Imagine, which sucks, and 7 Rings, which also sucks.

I should be able to post this week's countdown normally within the next few days. That's where I'll catch up on everything new on Hit-Bound. But now that school is over for me, I can devote more time to blogging and so, I'm trying to think of things I can do over the summer on top of the regular countdown posts. I think I have an idea, but I'm still trying to work out the details. However, I know you've been waiting a long time. The 2010s rankdown has been open much longer than it should've been. But now it's closed. I've entered all the submissions, calculated the results, and reveals will start this week. So stay tuned. Reveals will take place on the rankdown page linked below.

So that's all I have for today. It feels good to kind of catch up and I look forward to our rankdown. Thanks for reading!

New Entrants
~ First up this week is Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. I like this song a reasonable amount. It's a nice little piano ballad and his voice is pretty good. He reminds me a lot of James Arthur. I think the song is nice and there's really no reason for me to dislike it. It's not something that I can picture myself going out of my way to listen to. But if it comes on the radio, I won't change it. I can't really see it lasting long here, but we'll see what happens.

~ Next is Alessia Cara with Out Of Love. I think this is better than her last two singles, which I thought had very generic and strange production. Unlike those two, Out Of Love is a ballad and I find it kind of boring. I know I tend to like a lot of ballads. But to pull it off, the vocal talent needs to be there and I just don't hear anything that special in Alessia Cara's voice. She has a good voice, but it's not strong enough to stand on its own with the piano. I think it's well-written though, so she does deserve some credit. As far as the song itself goes, it's forgettable and not that interesting, which I've been pretty consistent about ever since she started this new strange era.

~ Next is So Close by NOTD, Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts, and Georgia Ku. I think this song is kind of generic, but at the same time it's not bad. The production is nothing that new or outstanding. I do not like the vocals here and the vocal effects throughout the song don't sound very good. But with the production, I just feel like when you have this many producers on one song, it shouldn't sound like it was produced solely by NOTD, who are not very good at what they do if I'm totally honest. In other words, I was underwhelmed here and I have higher expectations for someone like Felix Jaehn, who has some good songs. So Close is just very forgettable.

~ Soon following that, we have Love Me Less by MAX featuring Quinn XCII. I like MAX, but I was expecting something a lot better. He has a fantastic voice, but I really don't hear it here. I loved Lights Down Low for how sweet it was and I liked Gibberish for how catchy it was. Love Me Less is a little difficult to get into. I don't really like Quinn XCII's contribution and MAX is capable of so much better. It's not a bad song by any means. I won't really care if I'm forced to listen to this for whatever reason. It's just kind of disappointing for an artist whose material I usually like.

~ Finally, we have a song by an artist who I find to be very overrated. It's Billie Eilish with Bury A Friend. I just don't get where this kind of inspiration comes from. Why would anyone want to make a weird ass song like this? The production is so light and underwhelming that it's almost not there. Her voice is not good. She doesn't actually sing, she just mumbles her way through the song. I don't like the weird voice that says "Billie" and "Listen". This is not the kind of song I want to hear on the radio and I'm tired of Billie Eilish being as big as she is when she's virtually talentless. This is just my opinion, but even then, I can't hear her vocal talent from an objective standpoint. I've said this before, but I'm not her target audience, so that's probably why I can't get into her music. I'd prefer if this didn't become a hit.

Best Debut of the Week: Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list.

  • SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
  • Billie Eilish – Bad Guy
  • Bazzi – Paradise
  • Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie – ME! (DEBUT)
  • Alec Benjamin – If We Have Each Other
  • Ava Max – So Am I
  • Jennifer Lopez/French Montana – Medicine
  • The Chainsmokers – Kills You Slowly
  • Jonas Brothers – Cool
  • lovelytheband – Maybe, I'm Afraid
  • Louis Tomlinson – Two Of Us
  • BTS/Halsey – Boy With Luv
  • Kygo/Valerie Broussard – Think About You
  • Panic! At The Disco – Dancing's Not A Crime
  • Jordan McGraw – Flexible

~ Our one new song is the collaboration between Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie titled ME. I think this is better than every single from Reputation. This song is really fun, upbeat, and catchy. It brings back 1989 vibes and I think that's one of her best eras. And I prefer this light, happy Taylor as opposed to the dark Taylor from Reputation. Brendon Urie sounds really good here and I think he and Taylor have great chemistry. The lyrics are silly, but the song itself is fun and I really like the video. So yeah, I love this. We'll see how it holds up, but as of right now, it's likely to be my song of the summer.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Kygo/Valerie Broussard – Think About You
2. Jennifer Lopez/French Montana – Medicine
3. Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie – ME!
4. SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
5. Panic! At The Disco – Dancing's Not A Crime

Out Of Blurbs
~ I guess I'm not technically out of blurbs, but I don't have the time for them this post, so we can probably live without them right now. I will say that it was nice to see Anne Marie  2002 drop to #45 like that and Kelsea Ballerini – Miss Me More was the only exit that did not deserve to leave. The others are either not good or old.
