Taylor Swift (6) – Week Of March 28, 2015

What's up guys? Last week I said this week's post may be delayed. I lied. This post is here on time! I don't know about you but I just started spring break. Biggest Jump Of The Week: Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me (+19)

New Entrants
~ We got an unwelcome re-entry from Lips Are Movin' at #45. So only 3 newbies.

~ Echosmith are back with their second countdown song. I have to say, my initial reaction to Bright was not as good as my initial reaction to Cool Kids. This is a sweet song. But I don't necessarily think it belongs here. That's just my opinion though.

~ Nick Jonas is here with the song that was actually released BEFORE Jealous. It's called Chains. I enjoyed this song months ago. But I still somewhat enjoy it now. Seriously though I was listening to this song on repeat months ago. I guess better late than never?

~ Sam Smith debuted with soul singer John Legend with Lay Me Down. I think the addition of John's vocals are really good. This song is NOWHERE near as good as Stay With Me. But I guess it's alright? I guess we could have worse.

When The Blurb Drops Out
~ Uh, excuse me Hits 1. But I believe The Weeknd – Earned It is #6 on iTunes? So what's it doing at #42 here??? Hits 1 needs to get it together.

~ That's right everyone. I now have no opinion on Thinking Out Loud. I started to somewhat enjoy it. But it's just too slow and not what I would want to hear in my car.

~ Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Okay then.

~ After repeated listens to it over the course of the week, Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out is now my favorite song on the countdown. Some more recognition for that song would be nice.

~ Oh my god. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk is not in the Top 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~ Remember when Taylor Swift – Shake It Off was #1 and Blank Space took a jump to #3? Well we're in that same situation. And instead of Fall Out Boy being the meat of the sandwich, we have Ed Sheeran. Hopefully he realizes that Taylor will not be leaving his life anytime soon.

~ Speaking of Taylor, I actually still like Blank Space. I'm happy that it's #1 and not Uptown Funk or Thinking Out Loud. My numero uno por favor this week though goes to Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do. You reached #1 on iTunes. You can do it here too.

~ Rihanna just dropped her single which is currently taking over iTunes at #1. It's called Bitch Better Have My Money. It's catchy and upbeat unlike FourFiveSeconds. It's pretty good. And it's Rihanna. You can't go wrong with Rihanna.

~ Zayn Malik did leave One Direction earlier this week. But people need to calm down because they are overreacting. He didn't die. So people need to just move on. I know it's hard at first. But dammit it's been three days people! And Louis, Niall, Harry, and Liam will all continue in the band. So the band isn't quitting.

~ MKTO – American Dream is sooooo ollldddddddd!!!!!!! Who the hell is still voting for this song???!!!!! I wanna have a little talk with them...

~ 75% of our exits were songs that deserved to go. Thank god we (hopefully) don't have to deal with them anymore.

~ Even though I absolutely HATE Uptown Funk, I also hate it when people say "Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars". Then I say, "It's by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars." But then they say, "I only hear Bruno Mars singing." That's true. Bruno Mars does do all of the singing, but the singing only. Everything else you hear in the song is Mark Ronson. So while you think Bruno Mars contributes to most if not the entire song, in reality, Mark Ronson does most of the work producing the entire song and creating what it is you hear in the song. That's why it's Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars and not Bruno Mars featuring Mark Ronson. I usually end up winning the argument.

~ Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi – I Need Your Love is on Hit-Bound. It's a really good song and I hope it debuts soon.

~ It looks like Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody really takes this countdown seriously already being at #13. That's what I like to see.

~ Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me is actually a really good song! Even though it's not good enough to make it into My Top 5 Picks, it's still a really good, really catchy song.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out
2. The Weeknd – Earned It
3. Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody
4. Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside
5. Zedd/Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know

Ed Sheeran (2) – Week Of March 21, 2015

Displaying From Skitch.jpg
Yup. You read that title correctly. The terrible Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud is at its undeserved #1 spot yet again. I think the last #1 song that has been this bad was All About That Bass. Also, when I logged on to Blogger, I noticed it said I had a total of 318,318 pageviews. I found that so fascinating and rare that I just had to mention it. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  2. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#3)
  1. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (#2) [2nd Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Flo Rida – GDFR (–10)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody (+13)

New Entrants
~ Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out is interesting. It has a nice tune and beat to it. That's all I can really say about it right now other than it being Marlon Roudette's debut single. I guess you can stay as long as you like.

~ Jason Derulo truly disappointed me with the terrible Talk Dirty that I was afraid of what was to come from him next. His single Want To Want Me is nowhere near as good as any of the songs from Future History (specifically Don't Wanna Go Home, It Girl, and Breathing). But it does have an energetic pop sound similar to The Other Side. Most importantly, it's better than Talk Dirty, Wiggle, and Trumpets combined.

And I'll Blurb Your Name
~ It's safe to say Hits 1 hasn't appreciated a Rihanna song since We Found Love hit #1 at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012.

~ Ella Henderson – Ghost re-entering the Top 10??? Can they not?!

~ Flo Rida – GDFR looks like it will have a shorter tenure that thought to be.

~ Usher – I Don't Mind is so BORING!!! I've never heard a song this boring on the countdown in a long time.

~ Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody seems to be the only song from last week's group of debuts to have the usual second week boost being the only song that jumped more than 10 spots.

~ Everytime I was going to watch a YouTube video this week, the Kelly Clarkson on tour ad came up, which made me hate Heartbeat Song even more.

~ Looks like the life of Life Of Dillon – Overload has not come to an end yet.

Mini Hit-Bound Review:

~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You entered Hit-Bound this week making it the new best song on Hit-Bound.

~ Also entering Hit-Bound, we have Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It being the second best song on Hit-Bound.

~ AJR – Infinity is still on Hit-Bound...

~ I could've sworn Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down was going to debut this week.

~ Hit-Bound list:

  • Betty Who – All Of You
  • Echosmith – Bright
  • AJR – Infinity
  • Cash Cash/Julia Michaels – Surrender
  • Nick Jonas – Chains
  • Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It
  • Ryn Weaver – OctaHate
  • Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down
  • Tove Lo – Talking Body
  • Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love
  • Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You
  • Katy Tiz – Whistle (While You Work It)
  • Rixton – Hotel Ceiling
  • Sia – Elastic Heart

~ Recommendation For Hit-Bound: Fifth Harmony/Kid Ink – Worth It

~ The Q&A post will be out soon people. I'm sorry to keep you waiting. Patience is the key in this kind of situation.

~ Just a quick heads-up: Next week's post may be delayed.

My Top 5 Picks
1. The Weeknd – Earned It
2. Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody
3. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
4. Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside
5. Ariana Grande – One Last Time

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Rihanna/Kanye West/Paul McCartney – FourFiveSeconds (–22)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Flo Rida – GDFR (+18)

New Entrants
~ The Weeknd is back. This time as a solo artist. He brings us our second countdown song from the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack, Earned It. I'm not gonna lie. The Weeknd has some really soothing vocals. This is the kind of song I would enjoy listening to if I had a bad headache and I didn't want to hear any energetic pop music. I hope it has some success.

~ The Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding collab is back and better! I Need Your Love from 2013 was a really catchy song from the two that peaked at #6 on this countdown. I actually think their debut this week, Outside, is better. It's got a catchy beat to it along with Ellie Goulding's vocals. Obviously, Blame was Calvin Harris' hands-down best song. But Outside is probably the second best I've heard from Harris. Let's see how far this song gets.

~ New-comer Natalie La Rose debuted at #33 featuring Jeremih with Somebody. This is the kind of song that I enjoy singing along to in the shower and when it comes on the radio. I had realized yesterday (from my dad) that Natalie La Rose used a sample of Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) for the chorus. But I honestly do not care. That's one thing about me. I'm open to remakes of older songs. Most of the time, the remakes are actually better. Aside from that, I definitely think this song is Top 10 material. Maybe even Top 5 material. I hope for some success from this song. If not, I will file a complaint to Hits 1.

~ Finally, we have Zedd and his girlfriend, Selena Gomez debuting with I Want You To Know. Is it Zedd's best? No. But is it catchy? Hell yeah! Selena Gomez has some nice vocals in this song. I don't expect it to hit as high as Clarity did (#3). But I hope this can hit at least Top 20. That's what I'm shooting for.

I Wanna Blurb With Somebody
~ The massive drop from FourFiveSeconds was completely uncalled for.

~ I'm gonna go ahead and say Ellie Goulding was the artist most played on Hits 1 this week. Outside must've had a lot of airplay to debut and Love Me Like You Do definitely had a lot of airplay to be at #5.

~ I just wanna say something real quick to Hozier – Take Me To Church. Thank you for your service in the Top 10.

~ I sense yet another #1 song coming from Mr. Olly Murs as he enters the Top 10 this week.

~ Priory – Weekend stayed here two weeks longer than it should've.

~ Prayer In C is really popular right now. Hits 1 always gets rid of these songs too early.

~ Oh my god! Do my eyes deceive me?! Charli XCX – Boom Clap left!!!

~ It's official. The remix of George Ezra – Budapest that Hits 1 plays is better than the original.

~ Tove Lo – Talking Body went from being one of the worst songs on Hit-Bound to one of the best songs! It's my new jam right now!

~ Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song appears to be making an annoying comeback.

~ Ugh. Stupid OneRepublic – I Lived jumped back into the Top 10. Just freakin' leave!!! You're losing your popularity everywhere else right now!

~ You wanna know what two words I'm completely tired of hearing right now?! "Say Geronimo. Say Geronimo. Say Geronimo. Say Geronimo."

~ When we reached #35 and Spyder Harrison was reviewing the last five songs, he noted not to confuse the song, The Weekend, with the artist, The Weeknd. I already have, Spyder. I already have.

~ This whole Blank Space / Uptown Funk / Thinking Out Loud issue in the Top 3 needs to be dealt with. God knows how many weeks those songs have spent in the Top 3. Although I'm happy Thinking Out Loud isn't #1, Uptown Funk is super old. As of right now, we need a COMPLETELY new Top 3.

~ You guys have until tomorrow to send in your questions for our Q&A post. So be sure to send me some questions. I'm open to questions about anything!

~ Best Song On YouTube15 w/ Jenna Marbles: Tie Between Olly Murs/Demi Lovato – Up and Robin Schulz/Jasmine Thompson – Sun Goes Down

~ Viral Video This Week: Ellie Goulding covering Hozier – Take Me To Church (See? This week was all about Ellie Goulding): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDtR8sn4z-A

~ To everyone out there reading this, Happy Pi Day!!! So in honor of Pi Day: http://www.think-aboutit.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/math-pi-decimal-matrix.jpg

My Top 5 Picks
1. Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody
2. Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding – Outside
3. Ariana Grande – One Last Time
4. R5 – Let's Not Be Alone Tonight
5. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do

300K Pageview Special – Q&A Post (I Need Questions)

Hey guys! Like I said in my last post, I am very thankful to have reached 300,000 pageviews at the beginning of this month. You guys already know quite a bit about me. But hey, there's a lot you guys don't know. So for my 300,000 pageview special, I will be doing a Q&A post. This is your chance to ask me anything you want and I will answer it. I have created a survey for you guys to fill out with the questions you may have for me. You can ask me questions about absolutely anything and there's a 99% chance I'll answer it. That being said, I will try to answer every question I receive. It all depends on the number of questions I get. If I get 100 questions, I will probably not get to everybody's. But if there's like, 30, I will try to answer all of them. I'll put the link for the survey below. After about a week, I'll check to see how many questions I have and I'll decide whether or not I will extend the time for you to send questions. I'll have a post on the "SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - Website" Facebook page with the survey link. So you can check that out. The link will be below. So start asking some questions and you may ask as many as you wish.

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives (–15)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Eden XO – The Weekend (+11)

Interesting. Correct me if I’m wrong. But I believe this is the first time we’ve had the same artist at both ends of the countdown.

New Entrants
~ "We could be heroes!" You know what would've made you heroes? Not re-entering at all. I'm not trying to sound mean. I just don't think this song really deserved to re-enter.

~ Everyone is claiming that Hits 1 plays a remix George Ezra – Budpest. Since I haven't heard that remix, I'll just review my opinion of the original. I didn't like it at first. I thought George Ezra's voice was really weird. But it's grown on me a bit. And George Ezra is actually a good-looking guy.

Blurbing Out Loud
~ Priory – Weekend did not air at all this week. But it's still here. Okay then.

~ I've officially grown into Tori Kelly – Nobody Love, Ariana Grande – One Last Time, and Taylor Swift – Style.

~ Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do is now in the Top 5. If we could just fix what's going on with #4, #3, and #1, that would be fantastic.

~ Hozier – Take Me To Church must re-enter the Top 5! Who's with me?! Anyone? No? Okay then.....

~ I know I'm not the only one who's sick and tired of Sheppard – Geronimo.

~ Great. Eden XO – The Weekend has already reached a higher position than Too Cool To Dance. I sense an annoyingly long tenure ahead of us.

~ Hard to believe Kelly Clarkson – Heartbeat Song had some success about a month ago. I knew it wouldn't get as popular as Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) and Catch My Breath.

~ Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin' is officially old. Please leave before I start to hate you.

~ OneRepublic – I Lived dropped to #24 this week. Yaaaassssssss!!! That song is old!!!

~ Nova Rockafeller – Made In Gold is such a catchy tune to jam out to. I want to see some more success out of it!

~ Avicii/Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up aired quite a few times this week. Of course Hits 1 plays previous hits. But I didn't think the same previous hit would air 5 times during the week.

~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama and Charli XCX/Rita Ora – Doing It once again had some airplay during the week, but was not added to Hit-Bound or the countdown. Wtf Hits 1?!

~ I officially love Betty Who – All Of You has much as I did when it entered Hit-Bound last year! Please have it debut this time.

~ Quick reminder that this upcoming Friday is Friday The 13th. The second month in a row.

~ I unfortunately did not hear the countdown. So I did not hear any of our guest DJ's. I will find a time over the weekend to listen in for the OneRepublic – I Lived and Sheppard – Geronimo guest DJ's. So don't worry guys. One way or another, I will listen in to you announcing these songs.

~ Apparently according to the poll, more people think the dress is white and gold. Even after me explaining that it's blue and black. Whatever. You all are wrong!!! Even Ellen DeGeneres is wrong because she thought it was white and gold. Here's a video where she has guests who talk about the dress and it's original color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa1mFOWIUNU

~ Round 3 results for the Which Song Is Better? Competition have been posted. The link to the Round 4 survey is now in the "Voting" tab. So go and vote as well as checking out the results for Round 3.

~ Hit 45 Chart post for this weekend is out! Click here to see if Olly Murs/Demi Lovato – Up will hold #1 for a second week in a row.

~ It is rumored that two of our dance-rock collaborations are returning to make some music. Avicii and Coldplay are returning after the successful track A Sky Full Of Stars with Heaven, the first single to be released from Avicii's sophomore album, Stories. Also returning after A Light That Never Comes, we have Steve Aoki and Linkin Park. Horizons is the rumored title for the new single. I do indeed look forward to these releases.

~ Robin Schulz/Jasmine Thompson – Sun Goes Down is now the longest trending song on the YouTube15 with Jenna Marbles.

~ Interesting video this week: Hozier covers Ariana Grande – Problem at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. My one word to describe it: Perfection.

~ #1 Recommendation(s) For Hits 1: Nickelback – She Keeps Me Up and Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You
