The 2014 Grammy Awards Review

Hey guys! Last night at 8:00 ET (7:00 CT), the Grammy Awards took place. There were good performances and there were some bad. I was very shocked at the fact that there was no Miley Cyrus or Fall Out Boy. I'm going to review some of the performances and tell you the award winners. So let's get started.

~ Starting off the night, we had Beyonce' ft. Jay-Z – Drunk In Love. I'm not a huge fan of Beyonce'. Actually, I don't like her. Especially her new song, XO. Her new album in general was pretty bad. Jay-Z is okay. But this is one of my least favorite performances of the night. I give it a 3 out of 10. Here's the link to watch their performance.

~ Next we have the worst performance of the night. It was Lorde – Royals. The beginning was okay. But then right before she gets into the first chorus, she starts making these weird movements. And then that's when everything goes bad. She continues making these weird movements while her singing is also not very good. Her voice in the performance was completely different from the album version. She was also really scary looking. It looked like there was something wrong with her fingers. With her scary looks and her scary voice, this performance is a 1 out of 10 in my opinion. Here's the link to watch her performance.

~ Next we have my old celebrity crush, Hunter Hayes. He performed his new single, Invisible. This performance was amazing! First of all, he looked really nice compared to scary-looking Lorde. He was really handsome. He still has the good looks. That new hair style doesn't change anything. I love how he started off on the piano. Then he got up and didn't make any strange movements. I also love the quotes in the background from John Lennon, Lady Gaga, etc. His singing was phenomenal as well. With those good looks and that great singing, this performance gets a 10 out of 10! Here's the link to watch his performance.

~ Next we have the best performance of the night! And it was from Katy Perry and Juicy J performing Dark Horse. This performance has a really scary beginning to it. Which I can understand. Katy's singing was phenomenal. It's rare for me to say that. But it really was. Later in the performance, these extremely flexible people come on stage and begin showing off. Then later, the dark horse comes in. The dark horse then breaks apart and you see Juicy J coming in. Juicy J also has great singing (or rapping). And then the best part comes in. The fire starts around Katy. It was really cool. I give that performance an 11 out of 10! Here's the link to watch their performance.

~ Next we have Taylor Swift performing All Too Well. Not much to talk about here. Her piano work is great. Her singing is great. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Here's the link to watch her performance.

~ Next we have P!nk performing Try. I liked the performance. I liked the stunts she was doing. Her singing wasn't bad either. And the way she was lifting that guy towards the end. I give it an 8 out of 10. Here's the link.

~ This next performance adds on to the last performance. P!nk and Nate Ruess perform Just Give Me A Reason. This wasn't very good. First of all, Nate had a ridiculous looking mustache. Their singing together wasn't that good. I give it a 3 out of 10. This performance is the second half of the previous video. So go to the previous link to see this performance.

~ Next we have Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performing Queenie Eye. Paul did a nice job on the piano and the vocals. This was overall a good performance. I give it a 7 out of 10. Here's the link to watch 30 seconds of his performance since there are no other videos.

~ Here is the last one I'm gonna review. It is Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert & Madonna performing Same Love. It's hard for me to describe what happened during the second half of the performance. You'll need to see the video. But I give this performance an 8.5 out of 10. Here's The Link.

That's it for the performance reviews. Now for the awards.

Yellow = Song Was Good But Got Old
Orange = Worst Song On Countdown
Red = Song Is Bad

New Entants
~ We're welcoming back Selena Gomez – Slow Down. Thank god it wasn't one of the other songs that left last week.

~ We have Paramore – Ain't It Fun. To answer that question, it is fun! This song is fun and made Still Into You old. But this song is fun. I don't expect it to have the success as Still Into You. But I just want it to get somewhere.

Countdown Info
~ Ellie Goulding – Burn is in the Top 5!

~ Katy Perry ft. Juicy J – Dark Horse is just waiting to enter the Top 10.

~ Besides Selena Gomez – Slow Down, I thought there were no other re-entrants. But there is. And it's sitting there at #16.

~ The Wanted – We Own The Night left so soon! This does not cover all the time it was on Hit-Bound for!

~ MKTO – Classic is slowly moving back up. That's fine.

~ Here we go again with the whole "people don't know where to put the songs that debuted the previous week" thing. I'm talking about Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran – Old School Love.

~ The Bottom 5 songs are all good songs!

~ As of right now, here are the 5 songs that suck in no particular order. (Whether overplay or just bad.)

1. Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)
2. Katy Perry – Roar
3. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – White Walls
4. Beyoncé – XO
5. AJR – I'm Ready

~ Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can't Hold Us are both shooting to last a year on the countdown. Will Maroon 5 – Payphone hold the record?

~ Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster has been at #1 three times on the American Top 40 Countdown and 0 times on this countdown. Please vote for this song for the sake of this blog because if this song is not #1 next week, it will be really hard to keep the negativity out of my post. You know what? I'll start blogging the American Top 40. They seem to know what real music is! The link is http://americantop40review.blogspot.com/

~ Check out my personal Top 40 Blog at http://todaystop40hits.blogspot.com/

~ I've been listening to Far East Movement ft. Ryan Tedder – Rocketeer a lot this week. If you haven't heard it before, check it out.

~ This Week's Artist Of The Week: Far East Movement

~ Enrique Iglesias ft. Pitbull – I'm A Freak isn't that bad. Check it out. Enrique's new single.

~ I've also been listening a lot to Lifehouse ft. Natasha Bedingfield – Between The Raindrops. Can that song still debut this countdown? If it can, please do.

~ For the Hit-Bound poll, Aloe Blacc – The Man came in first with the most votes. Avicii ft. Dan Tyminski – Hey Brother came in second and American Authors – Best Day Of My Life and NONONO – Pumpin' Blood tied in third. Unfortunately, none of those songs debuted.

~ I have to say, this wasn't a very good week. I'm disappointed.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
2. Flo Rida – How I Feel
3. Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran – Old School Love
4. John Newman – Love Me Again
5. Selena Gomez – Slow Down

Top 5 Songs Of 2013 That Failed To Air On The Weekend Countdown

Obviously, due to the number of songs Hits 1 played first that mainstream radio doesn't play, there are quite a few songs that Hits 1 failed to play on their weekly countdown. I was okay with most of them. But here are my 5 favorite songs that Hits 1 failed to place on their countdown.

5. Ylvis – The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?) - This song is really fun to jam out to. Sure the animal sounds are a little annoying. I don't even think their animal sounds. -_- . But this song is a fun song and I like how people get annoyed by it.

4. Drake ft. Majid Jordan – Hold On We're Going Home - Drake never appealed to me the way this song did. He wasn't that interesting in the past. This song doesn't have that much in it. But that's not a bad thing. Drake's vocals aren't bad. I like the beat to it. The beginning kind of reminds me of Lady Gaga ft. R Kelly – Do What U Want.

3. Jay-Z ft. Justin Timberlake – Holy Grail - Justin Timberlake makes this song good. Not a huge fan of Jay-Z. The reason I like this song so much is because Justin Timberlake has fantastic vocals. I love every part where Timberlake sings. Jay-Z's not that bad. But he's not good.

2. Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko – Stay - I love this song. Rihanna's vocals are fantastic. Mikky Ekko's are good too. It's a nice song that has only piano for an instrument. Only vocals and piano work can be discussed for this song. It's great compared to A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera – Say Something.

1. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors - This guy has amazing vocals. I don't know anyone who doesn't like this song. Due to this song's duration, it would've thrown Hits 1 off schedule if they were to play the album version. But still. There's no excuse why this song wasn't aired on Hits 1 and why it never debuted on the Weekend Countdown and could've been a potential #1 song! This is his best! Yet you guys brought the not-as-good-as-Mirrors song Suit & Tie. I don't get it!

Now here is the best & worst song that aired on Hit-Bound but failed to reach the countdown for some reason.

Best: fun. – Out On The Town

Worst: Flo Rida ft. Pitbull – Can't Believe It

That's all guys. NOTE: When Paramore – Ain't It Fun played earlier today, Spyder Harrison said it will debut tomorrow on the Weekend Countdown. So that's one new song. Check out the rest tomorrow.

Mid-Week New Music Update

You guys know I love telling you new music that's out there. My job as the Sirius XM Hits 1 recapper is to not only give you the weekly countdown, but to talk to you about new music. Most of this music hasn't played on Hits 1 (yet). But it was either recently released or released a while ago, but I'm one of the first few people to find out about it. So let's get started!

  • John Newman – Try *

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdGWO_tiBv8
Comments: A+ voice for this artist. This song is amazing. It might be John Newman's best. NOTE: This video wasn't made by John Newman. It was made by someone else. So you can either ignore the "Follow me on Twitter" or just deal with it.

  • Maroon 5 – Lucky Strike

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BniUBM1CrPA
Comments: Maroon 5 never disappoints. Love Somebody, Payphone, and One More Night were all great songs. This song is great too. Even though it's not a hit (yet). Listen To It!

  • Eminem – Rap God

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbGs_qK2PQA
Comments: Eminem's music is amazing! Can that guy rap! This song can really show the other rappers who's the boss! Though not better than The Monster and Berzerk. This song is the 3rd best off of The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

  • Avicii ft. Adam Lambert & Nile Rodgers – Lay Me Down *

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmVjsE-XnEA
Comments: Avicii is by far the best DJ out there. Adam Lambert has fantastic vocals! Nile Rodgers is great with the funky guitar! Avicii just keeps getting better and better. Keep it up!

  • Karmin – I Want It All

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN1Mo1bhzto
Comments: This is really good! Well done Karmin! This song is actually on Hit-Bound! This may be better than Acapella.

  • Imagine Dragons – Monster *

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhSA9H9Iaqw
Comments: This song is AMAZING! If you weren't such a fan of Radioactive, you might not like this song. It's pretty similar to Radioactive. But it's Imagine Dragons' best! LISTEN TO IT!!!

That's this week's new music you should check out.

* This video is not playable on mobile devices. IDK why! It just isn't.

  2. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster (#4)
  1. OneRepublic – Counting Stars (#1) [3rd Week at #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like (–25)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Bastille – Pompeii (+20)

New Entrants
-- First we have Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran – Old School Love. This song is really only good because it has Ed Sheeran in it. Without him, this song probably wouldn't be good. Ed Sheeran is a great vocalist and Lupe Fiasco by himself won't be good. So good job picking Ed Sheeran to sing the chorus.

-- Next we have Pharrell Williams – Happy. This song is okay. As I said in the past, Pharrell has great vocals. But this isn't his best. It's good though. Fun fact: It was from Despicable Me 2.

-- Last we have AJR – I'm Ready. This is just plain out bad. It's an obnoxious song that only kids will like. It's like the new Serebro – Mi Mi Mi. Luckily, that was the last bad song on Hit-Bound. Now Hit-Bound is full of good songs.

Countdown Info
-- I'm okay with Lorde – Royals at #44. That song is old.

-- Speaking of old songs, why is Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) still here? It's old! O-L-D! OLD!!!

-- I added a voting poll on my site. You vote for your favorite song(s) from Hit-Bound and the next weekend, you see if your vote was lucky enough to make it. NOTE: I cannot ensure your vote will make the countdown. It's just for you to assume what songs will make it next week.

-- Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like's countdown career is coming to an end so soon.

-- Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight and Fall Out Boy – Alone Together both re-entered the Top 5. For some reason, I'm not complaining.

-- MKTO – Classic re-entered the Top 10. Once again, I'm not complaining.

-- Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster reached #2! I SURE HOPE THIS IS A POSSIBLE #1 SONG!!!

-- Goodbye Wax – Rosana. I hope to never see you again!

-- A few of the songs that left recently have debuted after John Newman – Love Me Again. And that's still here! Glad to see the voters know which songs to keep (sort of).

-- Everyone should take a listen to Calvin Harris & Alesso ft. Hurts – Under Control. It's a great song.

-- Glenn Morrison – Goodbye only moved up 1 spot. These people who form the countdown every week must not know where to put the songs that debuted the week before.

-- Because Pharrell – Happy debuted, that pushed up Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell & T.I. – Blurred Lines to #19. All because of the countdown's silly rule about having songs by the same artist near each other.

-- Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love made another big jump. Just not the Biggest Jump Of The Week.

-- I really want John Newman – Try to debut the countdown. His voice is fantastic! If you haven't heard this song before, please take a listen to it.

-- This Weeks Artist Of The Week: Eminem

Non-Countdown Info
-- iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Chart Talk: The iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart has Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster at #1. I hope this stays there because the dangerous Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – White Walls is at #2.

-- Google+ Talk: If you really like this blog, feel free to add me on Google+ at +Adrian Carrazco. If you add me, I'll add you back (If I haven't already). I have 2 profiles. If you want to add this profile, make sure you pick the profile with this profile pic. I also added +Spyder Harrison on Google+. I wonder if he knows about this blog. Probably not.

-- Since CountdownRecap stopped his blog, Dylan George, Will Boyd, and I all have our own Sirius XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown blog.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
2. John Newman – Love Me Again
3. Panic! At The Disco – Miss Jackson
4. Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran – Old School Love
5. The Wanted – We Own The Night

Top 5 Songs That Should Be On The Countdown*
1. John Newman – Try
2. Daughtry – Waiting For Superman
3. Maroon 5 – Lucky Strike
4. Avril Lavigne ft. Chad Kroeger – Let Me Go
5. Lifehouse ft. Natasha Bedingfield – Between The Raindrops

*Avicii ft. Adam Lambert & Nile Rodgers – Lay Me Down is not here because Hey Brother is on Hit-Bound.

OneRepublic (2) – Week Of January 11, 2014

Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, we're saying goodbye to the CountdownRecap. His career as the countdown recap has come to an end. I was really sad when I saw the post titled "Goodbye" on his blog. He inspired me to create this blog. He seemed like a really cool person. Even though I've never met or even seen him, he seemed cool. I promised to continue blogging the Sirius XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown for him. I told him to check it out every once in a while. If you were a fan of his blog, this will have to be the new place you look every week. If you want me to be like him at all in this blog, just tell me and I'll try my best. Goodbye, CountdownRecap. Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Selena Gomez – Slow Down (–20)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo – Miss Jackson (+26)

New Entrants
-- Ok. Where To Start. I guess I'll do this in countdown order from highest debut to lowest debut.

-- With the highest debut of the week, we have long time Hit-Bound-er Goldhouse – Feel Good. I'm glad this finally debuted. Feel Good is a good song for some reason that I don't know. It's just good. I like the vocals and the beat of the song.

-- Next we have Lorde – Team. This song is more interesting and not as boring as Royals. Spyder Harrison said he loves this song. There is not really much to discuss about this song though besides Lorde's vocals.

-- Bastille – Pompeii debuted this week. The Alt Nation Alt-18 Countdown is always ahead of the Hits 1 Weekend Countdown by a little bit. Songs like The Neighbourhood – Sweater Weather, Daft Punk – Get Lucky, Lorde – Team, and Bastille – Pompeii are good examples. This group already has a second song on the Alt-18 Countdown while we just brought in Pompeii. This song has good instrumentals and good vocals. Almost everything is good about this song.

-- We're halfway through guys. Now we have Haim – The Wire. The only good part of the song is the end in my opinion. But others seem to have a different opinion since they say they like it. Of course, I'm the one who's right. Right? RIGHT??

-- We now come to the best debut of the week. It is Glenn Morrison – Goodbye. This song has a great dance beat which is what I expect from our Electronic/Dance artists. The vocals are also good. I need to hear this song more though. I've only heard it for the few weeks where it was on Hit-Bound. But for now, it is really good.

-- Last, and definitely least, we have Beyoncé – XO. What does that title mean??? Is it a sideways face?? Is it supposed to be a symbol?? Did she just pick this random title?? I am not a big fan of Beyoncé. Especially her new album. She has at least 13 music videos in the iTunes music video chart. People are going crazy about this album. But this song doesn't make me wanna listen to the rest of the album.

Countdown Info
-- Somehow, Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark managed to not be one of the six songs that left this week.

-- I guess Panic! At The Disco – Miss Jackson's countdown career isn't coming to an end.

-- I would have assumed Justin Timberlake could've grabbed the #1 spot. But that doesn't seem possible anymore.

-- It seems to be impossible for Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster to reach #1.

-- John Newman released his album, Tribute. I am really impressed. We need some more John Newman songs on the countdown.

-- I got over my celebrity crush on Hunter Hayes. No need to worry anymore.

-- I'm going to state the obvious right now. Wax – Rosana and Bruno Mars – Young Girls are horrible.

-- Goodbye, Linkin Park & Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes. You will be missed.

-- This will be a new thing I do. I will pick out the artist I listened to most every week. It could be a new artist, it could be an old artist.

This Week's Artist Of The Week: Justin Timberlake

Now for a mini Hit-Bound review.

-- We heard an exclusive of Oh Honey – Be Okay. That song is okay.

-- Avicii ft. Dan Tyminski – Hey Brother finally debuted on Hit-Bound!

-- American Authors – Best Day Of My Life also debuted on Hit-Bound.

-- I'm waiting for Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran – Old School Love to debut on the countdown.

-- Paramore has a new song on Hit-Bound.

-- A random song from a random artist on Hit-Bound right now: Hardwell ft. Matthew Koma – Dare You.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Justin Timberlake – Drink You Away
2. Glenn Morrison – Goodbye
3. John Newman – Love Me Again
4. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
5. Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie – This Is What It Feels Like

Biggest DROP!!! Of The Week: Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo – Miss Jackson (–16)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Tie Between Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love and Bruno Mars – Young Girls (+11)

New Entrants
-- This is the second straight week I have no new music to talk about. A week without new music is a boring week.

Countdown Info
-- One Direction – Story Of My Life is new to the Top 10.

-- Bruno Mars has disappointed me with everything he produced after Locked Out Of Heaven. His previous album was better.

-- Panic! At The Disco – Miss Jackson's career on the countdown seems to be coming to an end.

-- John Newman – Love Me Again seems like it will be leaving soon. Too bad. :'(

-- I can't believe Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark is still here. It should've left around the same time as Olly Murs – Troublemaker and P!nk ft. Nate Ruess – Just Give Me A Reason. That song is so 7 months ago.

-- Spyder Harrison said Serebro – Mi Mi Mi drives him crazy. Is that good or bad?

-- Some new entrants next week will be nice.

-- I'm going to try this again. It would be nice for Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster to hit #1 in the near future. I'm okay with Timber at #1, but it would be better if The Monster reached #1.

-- There is a rumor that AJR will be hosting Hit-Bound next weekend.

-- I would like to see Daughtry – Waiting For Superman hit the countdown. Make it happen!

-- I took a good listen to every track on Avicii's album, True. I really liked it. So I did a review on it. Here's The Link If You Wanted To Check It Out.
http://latestalbumreviews.blogspot.com/2014/01/avicii-true.html

-- I took a listen to Zendaya – Replay. I have one thing to say. What is so good about that song??

My Top 5 Picks
1. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy*
2. Eminem ft. Rihanna – The Monster
3. John Newman – Love Me Again
4. Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love
5. Sara Bareilles – Brave
(6. Linkin Park & Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes)
(7. Katy Perry ft. Juicy J – Dark Horse)

*This song has an advantage due to a celebrity crush I have on the artist. For more info, here is the link.
