New Entrants
~ First up this week is Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi. I like this song a reasonable amount. It's a nice little piano ballad and his voice is pretty good. He reminds me a lot of James Arthur. I think the song is nice and there's really no reason for me to dislike it. It's not something that I can picture myself going out of my way to listen to. But if it comes on the radio, I won't change it. I can't really see it lasting long here, but we'll see what happens.
~ Next is Alessia Cara with Out Of Love. I think this is better than her last two singles, which I thought had very generic and strange production. Unlike those two, Out Of Love is a ballad and I find it kind of boring. I know I tend to like a lot of ballads. But to pull it off, the vocal talent needs to be there and I just don't hear anything that special in Alessia Cara's voice. She has a good voice, but it's not strong enough to stand on its own with the piano. I think it's well-written though, so she does deserve some credit. As far as the song itself goes, it's forgettable and not that interesting, which I've been pretty consistent about ever since she started this new strange era.
~ Next is So Close by NOTD, Felix Jaehn, Captain Cuts, and Georgia Ku. I think this song is kind of generic, but at the same time it's not bad. The production is nothing that new or outstanding. I do not like the vocals here and the vocal effects throughout the song don't sound very good. But with the production, I just feel like when you have this many producers on one song, it shouldn't sound like it was produced solely by NOTD, who are not very good at what they do if I'm totally honest. In other words, I was underwhelmed here and I have higher expectations for someone like Felix Jaehn, who has some good songs. So Close is just very forgettable.
~ Soon following that, we have Love Me Less by MAX featuring Quinn XCII. I like MAX, but I was expecting something a lot better. He has a fantastic voice, but I really don't hear it here. I loved Lights Down Low for how sweet it was and I liked Gibberish for how catchy it was. Love Me Less is a little difficult to get into. I don't really like Quinn XCII's contribution and MAX is capable of so much better. It's not a bad song by any means. I won't really care if I'm forced to listen to this for whatever reason. It's just kind of disappointing for an artist whose material I usually like.
~ Finally, we have a song by an artist who I find to be very overrated. It's Billie Eilish with Bury A Friend. I just don't get where this kind of inspiration comes from. Why would anyone want to make a weird ass song like this? The production is so light and underwhelming that it's almost not there. Her voice is not good. She doesn't actually sing, she just mumbles her way through the song. I don't like the weird voice that says "Billie" and "Listen". This is not the kind of song I want to hear on the radio and I'm tired of Billie Eilish being as big as she is when she's virtually talentless. This is just my opinion, but even then, I can't hear her vocal talent from an objective standpoint. I've said this before, but I'm not her target audience, so that's probably why I can't get into her music. I'd prefer if this didn't become a hit.

Best Debut of the Week: Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved
Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list.
- SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
- Billie Eilish – Bad Guy
- Bazzi – Paradise
- Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie – ME! (DEBUT)
- Alec Benjamin – If We Have Each Other
- Ava Max – So Am I
- Jennifer Lopez/French Montana – Medicine
- The Chainsmokers – Kills You Slowly
- Jonas Brothers – Cool
- lovelytheband – Maybe, I'm Afraid
- Louis Tomlinson – Two Of Us
- BTS/Halsey – Boy With Luv
- Kygo/Valerie Broussard – Think About You
- Panic! At The Disco – Dancing's Not A Crime
- Jordan McGraw – Flexible
~ Our one new song is the collaboration between Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie titled ME. I think this is better than every single from Reputation. This song is really fun, upbeat, and catchy. It brings back 1989 vibes and I think that's one of her best eras. And I prefer this light, happy Taylor as opposed to the dark Taylor from Reputation. Brendon Urie sounds really good here and I think he and Taylor have great chemistry. The lyrics are silly, but the song itself is fun and I really like the video. So yeah, I love this. We'll see how it holds up, but as of right now, it's likely to be my song of the summer.
Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Kygo/Valerie Broussard – Think About You
2. Jennifer Lopez/French Montana – Medicine
3. Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie – ME!
4. SZA/The Weeknd/Travis Scott – Power Is Power
5. Panic! At The Disco – Dancing's Not A Crime
Out Of Blurbs
~ I guess I'm not technically out of blurbs, but I don't have the time for them this post, so we can probably live without them right now. I will say that it was nice to see Anne Marie – 2002 drop to #45 like that and Kelsea Ballerini – Miss Me More was the only exit that did not deserve to leave. The others are either not good or old.

ReplyDelete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Madonna & Swae Lee - Crave
I actually think Crave is a good song I mean I am very happy and flexible.
DeleteThat song is not good at all.
DeleteImo I don't care I like it.
DeleteFUCK OFF CHASE
ReplyDeleteNo no don’t start Dbender.
DeleteI can’t chuck off I am still alive.
DeleteWhat is “chucking off”? I only know fucking off.
DeleteWaffle that's not nice.
DeleteOf I always say chuck off that's all.
DeleteCHASE IS DUMB
ReplyDeleteTHIS COMMENT WAS MADE BY DBENDER GANG
Enough
DeleteI am not dumb c’mon man please grow up like you mean it
DeleteWow Chase, you're one to talk
DeleteExcuse me Pyoris, that was so rude, apologize to me and say you're sorry. You don't say that in the blog, that's not nice.
Delete#1 RECOMMENDATION FOR HITS 1
ReplyDeletePEWDIEPIE - BITCH LASAGNA
Please stop recommending that that song is ugly
DeleteLet’s try this again:
Delete#1 Recommendation for Hits 1: Madonna & Swae Lee - Crave
And I think imo it is a good song.
I second Dylan's recommendation. I also recommend Congratulations because it is great as well.
DeleteCongratulations by Post Malone?

DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteCongratulations is from 2017. C'mon Slayer69 you better grow up.
DeleteI am talking about Congratulations by PewDiePie. I should have specified that. Also you recommend songs from 2017 and 2016 all the time so don't tell me to grow up because of it.
DeleteOops
DeleteUmmm I want John on the blog.
ReplyDeleteBetter.
ReplyDeleteAnd DBender don’t you dare say anything.
anything.
DeleteYeah don't you dare say anything.

Jordan McGraw - Flexible
Andy Grammer - Don't Give Up On Me

DeleteAgain Hustle needs to leave this countdown section. How on Earth did it get up here. It needs to be off the voting poll and let Love Me Anyway debut both the voting poll and HitBound.
Delete*Hitbound
DeleteLet's ignore Waffle, DBender and Awcool. I want John on the blog.
ReplyDeleteWho is John?
DeleteEverbody in the whole world likes Shallow. I love it and it's great.
ReplyDeleteI hate Shallow!!!! It is so grating and oh my god, that chorus was extremely egregious.
DeleteI don't actually. It is awesome.
DeleteHere are 4 exits off the countdown this week:
ReplyDeleteAustin Brown - In Betweenin'
Post Malone & Swae Lee - Sunflower
Anne-Marie - 2002
benny blanco, Halsey & Khalid - Eastside
And the 4 entrants are:
Shawn Mendes - If I Can't Have You (Highest Debut at #10)
Billie Eilish - bad guy
Billie Eilish - when the party's over
Jennifer Lopez - Medicine
And the #1 song is either Sucker, Who Do You Love, or Sweet but Psycho.
The Biggest Drops and Jumps are TBA.
Yikes 2 Billie Eilish countdown song debuts? That's weird. Inb4 Adrian, John, Scott, Beluga, or CC says yes Chase you are right about 4 exits and 4 entrants and #1 should be Sucker. But IICHY did not debut at #10. It debuted at #14.
DeleteGood riddance Sunflower, 2002 and Eastside, you will all not be missed!!! Goodbye In Betweenin' you will be missed.
DeleteThe entrants are exits are correct, except IICHY debuted at #17, not #10.
Delete#1 is Sucker.
Biggest jump is Boy With Luv. The biggest drop is Last Hurrah.
Waffle that was such a nice comment. Oops sorry #17 is IICHY
DeleteAdrian Is it okay if I can ignore Waffle, DBender and Awcool? They are bothering me. I am going to chill out. I am so emotional.😢
ReplyDeleteI missed In Betweenin', since it's off the voting poll.
ReplyDeleteInb4 Scott, Adrian, John, Beluga and CC say Chase you got the exits and entrants correct but you're wrong about IICHY. It debuted at #14 not #9.
DeleteAlright... let's see here.
DeleteExits are right
when the party's over came in at #42
bad guy at #34
Medicine at #33
If I Can't Have You at #17

DeleteYeah thanks Beluga. Please don't recommend Congratulations on Hits 1, that song is also ugly, Slayer69.
DeleteHave you even heard that song before? Because I'd be willing to bet you didn't and just judged from who it's by.
