Adele (12) – Week Of February 13, 2016

So Valentine's Day weekend has come. I am indeed still single. I'm kind of used to it now. So I don't care as much now. It's also Grammy's weekend! For whatever reason, they thought it would be a good idea to have the Grammy's on a Monday this year. They probably did it because they knew they would lose viewers if they placed it on the Sunday in which The Walking Dead returns. It's pretty damn obvious. I don't know if I'll be able to post a review for the Grammy's performances. We'll see. I'll get back to you guys on that. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Nelly/Jeremih – The Fix (#22)
  • Conrad Sewell – Hold Me Up (#40)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself (+19)

New Entrants
~ ........what did I just listen to? Dessert by Dawin is the pure definition of annoying. I mean the verses aren't awful (but they're certainly not good). It's the part where the obnoxious voice comes in saying, "Whatcha gon, whatcha gon do with that dessert?" and the beat that comes after that makes the song go even more downhill twice as fast. This song is really irritating and hopefully it won't last long. But the fact that it had the highest debut of the week at #21 means it'll probably stay for annoyingly long period of time. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

~ Our buddies Luke, Ashton, Calum, and Michael (aka 5 Seconds of Summer) have replaced themselves on the countdown this week with the superior Jet Black Heart. I'm definitely a fan of this song. This could potentially be better than She's Kinda Hot and is definitely better than Hey Everybody!. There's a good use of instrumentals and the vocals sound better than ever. Well done, 5SOS. You have managed to impress me yet again.

~ Our best entrant this week comes from Justin Bieber with the more toned down Love Yourself. It's definitely not a club-banger like Sorry is. It's a little slower and doesn't any hardcore EDM production within it. It's just Justin with his soothing voice. It's not his best song, but I do really enjoy it. I really hope it can stay here for a while.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list for this week:

  • Troye Sivan – YOUTH (DEBUT)
  • Rihanna/Drake – Work
  • Lukas Graham – 7 Years
  • One Direction – History
  • BØRNS – Electric Love
  • Timeflies – Once In A While
  • Shawn Hook – Sound Of Your Heart
  • Pitbull/Osmani Garcia/Lil Jon – El Taxi
  • Tryon – Somebody To Love Me
  • Panic! At The Disco – Victorious
  • Demi Lovato – Stone Cold (DEBUT)
  • We The Kings – The Story Of Tonight
  • David Guetta/Sia/Fetty Wap – Bang My Head
  • X Ambassadors – Unsteady (DEBUT)

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Shawn Hook – Sound Of Your Heart
2. X Ambassadors – Unsteady
3. Pitbull/Osmani Garcia/Lil Jon – El Taxi
4. David Guetta/Sia/Fetty Wap – Bang My Head
5. Demi Lovato – Stone Cold

Jet Blurb Heart
~ Adele has unfortunately tied for the most weeks at #1 with Taylor Swift – Shake It Off and Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance with 12 weeks. A new #1 please??? How about Sorry? Stressed Out? Damn I'll take Cake By The Ocean!!! Just stop it with this obsession for Hello!

~ The huge jump from Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself was very uncalled for and frankly, very unnecessary.

~ It's about time Shawn Mendes – Stitches dropped out of the Top 10. Let's get it farther down, please!

~ Meghan Trainor/John Legend – Like I'm Gonna Lose You has been in the Bottom 5 for a while now. Can we get it out sometime in the next few weeks?

~ Tori Kelly – Hollow clearly was not eligible for a second week boost like Something In The Way You Move and Pillowtalk were.

~ I now don't have to worry about Selena Gomez – Same Old Love anymore. Thank god. Now I have to worry about Hands To Myself.

~ It's pretty damn ridiculous that The Weeknd – Can't Feel My Face is still here? Who is still voting for this song? And why couldn't they vote up The Hills to have the kind of success Can't Feel My Face had?

~ The exits from The Fix and Hold Me Up were expected since both songs only spent a few weeks on the American Top 40. That's fine though. I lost interest in both songs.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Justin Bieber can hold at #1 for a third week in a row and an eighth time overall with Sorry!

~ Throwback Pick Of The Week: The Last Goodnight – Pictures Of You

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Sia/Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills

My Top 5 Picks
1. Justin Bieber – Sorry
2. Flo Rida – My House
3. Justin Bieber – Love Yourself
4. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime
5. Ellie Goulding – Something In The Way You Move

And now I will conclude this post with one of my favorite quotes that go out to all of you that are single this Valentine's Day:

"You do not need to be loved, not at the cost of yourself. The single relationship that is truly central and crucial in a life is the relationship to the self. Of all the people you will know in a lifetime, you are the only one you will never lose." — Jo Courdert

You are the only person in your life that you will never lose.

Remember that. :)

  3. Lets have Hello stay at #1 for 1 more week, that's all I ask. Come on Hits 1, Hello at #1 again!

The exits were expected anyway. The Fix was god awful, Hold Me Up couldn't resonate with Americans like it did to Australians, and Hey Everybody was on its way out naturally.

Who the fuck actually like Dessert, because let me tell you it is annoying, so terribly produced, and just plain generic and lazy. This is easily going to be in my bottom 10, and I hope it doesn't overstay its welcome, but considering its the highest debut of the week, it looks like it will be staying with us for a while.

Love Yourself is Justin Bieber's attempt to be Ed Sheeran. How do I know this? Because ed Sheeran actually co-wrote this song, and its just as boring if not worse than Thinking Out Loud. This is the first Justin Bieber song I hate since 2013, when he was featured in the song Lollipop.

The only good entrant is Jet Black Heart, and I hope it does well here.

I keep on forgetting Wake Up is on this countdown, considering I barely hear it on Hits 1.

I did not expect Something In The Way You Move to jump to #13, maybe it will hit #1 in the near future?

Get S.O.B. out of here, its not good, and the vocals from them are just ear-wrenching at worst.

Someone explain to me why the fuck is One Call Away almost in the top 10?

While we're at it get Like I'm Gonna Lose You, Can't Feel My Face, and Wildest Dreams out of here.

Most of the songs on Hit-Bound are uninteresting, boring, dull or just bad.

I would have expected Adventure of a Lifetime to jump into the top 10 for at least 1 week than drop out, but I guess the Super Bowl performance wasn't as good as Katy's performance last year. (And yes Katy's still was the best)

You know, for a song that recently debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, you would expect Pillowtalk to have the biggest jump right? But instead Hits 1 gives Hands to Myself that honor, and Pillowtalk gets snubbed. Reminds me of when the Lego Movie was snubbed at the Oscars.

We have 2 One Direction songs in the top 10, and both of them are old and should drop out soon. Hopefully.

I can see Stressed Out at #1 maybe.

    1. Hello- Adele

  43. OK, I'm leaving.

This whole blog is basically Parker and Chase at each other's throats and it's basically a lose-lose for all of us since both are annoying. If this continues, this blog will be a waste (sorry Adrian.)

    1. I'm with Trance on this. Both Parker and Chase need to clean up their act and stop going after each other. Its getting annoying and worthless for me to comment anymore, because I always seem to get stupid comments from Chase, and annoying "I hate your opinion, change it and appease me" comments from Parker. All this worthless comments about #1 Recommendations for Hits 1 that will never become hits at all coming from Chase, needs to end, ALL OF IT SHOULD STOP!

      Delete
    2. Agreed. EVERY 5 minutes Chase will say something dumb or a recommendation from a century ago.

      Delete
    3. I know, its soooo annoying and totally unnecessary for Chase to make a recommendation, that no one will care, like, or listen to. Parker is just as bad, basically being a total bitch about everyone disagreeing with him on songs like Here, Stressed Out, or Hold Me Up and its sooooo fucking annoying both of them.

      Delete
    4. I completely agree with all of that. It's okay for everyone to have different opinions. In fact, it's better that we disagree sometimes because if everyone had the same opinion this blog would be boring. I can't stand listening to songs like Same Old Love and Stressed Out, but if you guys like them, that's completely fine. You need to respect other people's opinions. And Chase, please cut down the recommendations. It's getting really, really, really annoying.

  49. Okay guys. This is getting completely ridiculous. We all used to chat about our blogs and other stuff and have fun doing it. Now we are at each other's throats over the stupidest crap. Okay? Everyone needs to stop criticizing people's opinions and point of views and stop posting needless comments every 2 minutes. If you want to post needless comments, just put it on your blog. It is getting tiring scrolling to the end of ridiculous long lists that are posted and new #1 recommendations every day. It's just getting ridiculous. We're all a blog fam, as Lance says, and we need to act like one again because this is not how things were a few months ago. Now things are becoming ridiculous with everyone fighting all the time. I hope this brought some information to you on this issue. We need to be a connected blogging fam again. Love ya fam!

  58. This is a Billboard Breakdown.

Well it looks like that #1 debuted couldn't last for a second consecutive week, as Zayn's Pillowtalk slide down from #1 to #7.

As for what replaced it, well lets just say that Love Yourself now has 2 non-consecutive weeks at #1.

Stressed Out hits a new peak on the Hot 100, jumping up to #2. Could it possibly hit #1?

Looks like Work got the boost it needed, as Rihanna and Drake's collab, Work jumps up to #4 due to huge gains in airplay and streaming.

Adventure of a Lifetime jumps up to #13 with a big gain from sales, possibly on the verge of hitting the top 10.

Also near the top 10 is Cake By The Ocean, which is now at #11.

Looks like When We Were Young finally broke into the top 20, by breaking its old peak of #22, now at #22, but with gains in performance, it could reach a new peak.

Expect a new rap song in the top 20 soon, as Down in the DM, by Yo Gotti/Nicki Minaj jumps from #39 to #21.

I guess that top 10 debut wouldn't last for another week, as Summer Sixteen by Drake falls from #6 to #26.

I Took A Pill In Ibiza jumps again from #48 to #33, giving Mike Posner his 4th top 40 hit.

White Iverson took a bit of a drop from #24 to #34, while 7 years by Lucas Graham jumps from #43 to #35.

The Hot Shot Debut this week is Low Life by Future featuring The Weeknd, in case any of you are wondering.

Perfect continues dropping as it goes from #54 to #63.

Don't expect Irresistible to be on the Hot 100 for much longer, as it drops from #64 to #86.

The Fix is also on its way out (Hopefully) as it slides down from #87 to #97.

I'm Miles and this was your Billboard Breakdown.
