Walk The Moon – Year Of 2015
So Hits 1 counted down their Top 45 songs of 2015 just earlier today. I guess these results were based on the opinions of the Wutchuwant Crew. Some of these results don't seem accurate enough to have been based on airplay. So I'll just go ahead and say that this was not the best year-end countdown ever. Let's just get to it right now.
Last Year's #1 Song: OneRepublic – Counting Stars
The Countdown (parenthetical number indicates the song's peak position)
45. X Ambassadors – Renegades (#7)*

32. Rachel Platten – Fight Song (#4)
31. Fifth Harmony – Worth It (#9)*
30. Echosmith – Bright (#10)
29. Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life (#4)
28. Sam Smith – I'm Not The Only One (#4)
27. Demi Lovato – Cool For The Summer (#2)
26. Taylor Swift – Wildest Dreams (#1) [1 Week]*

1. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance (#1) [12 Weeks] {1st Year At #1}*
*Song Is Still Charting
Shut Up and Blurb With Me!
~ I'm very fascinated by the fact that Taylor Swift – Style has been ranked higher than Blank Space. I don't understand!!! You're seriously ranking a one-week #1 song higher than a six-week #1 song?!?! Why?!?!?!?!?!
~ Speaking of Taylor Swift, she has 5 songs on here. 5 songs out of 45 total are Taylor Swift.
~ Going back to Blank Space, the song spent quite a while in the Top 10 and the Top 5. I'm also shocked it was ranked lower than Honey I'm Good, which fell down the countdown relatively quickly after that one week at #1, spending very few weeks in the Top 10, especially the Top 5.
~ Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman and Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me never hit #1, but somehow made it into the Top 10.
~ Vance Joy – Riptide is the only song in this list that never hit the Top 10.
~ Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again really seemed like a song I was sure would be a Top 10 contender for this list. I guess I was incorrect.
~ Quite a few songs peaked at #4 this year.
~ Twenty One Pilots – Tear In My Heart and Sheppard – Geronimo were definitely ranked way too high. It was their obnoxiously long tenures that brought them this high. However, Tear In My Heart was in the #9 to #11 range for seemingly forever while Geronimo rarely spent much time that high, but somehow got ranked higher than Tear In My Heart in this list.
~ Taylor Swift – Shake It Off is the only song on this list that was ranked in last year's Top 45 of the year.
~ I'm kind of surprised Renegades made it on this list. It seemed a little too new. But am I happy about it making it on? Hell yeah!
~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama was ranked way too low in my opinion.
~ Of course, the annoying Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up made it on this list.
~ I feel like One Direction – Night Changes should've been ranked just a little lower.
~ There were some songs like Flo Rida/Sage The Gemini/Lookas – GDFR, Charlie Puth/Meghan Trainor – Marvin Gaye, Omi – Cheerleader, and Nick Jonas – Chains that surprisingly did not make this list.
~ Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk had a typical #1 song tenure on this countdown not staying way too long, and apparently was qualified for the #2 spot of the year. At least it's not #1.
~ Am I happy about the #1 song? No. But did I expect it? Yes, I did. The song is still in the Top 10 and tied the record for most weeks at #1 with the #37 song on this list. I definitely saw this coming and I'm not surprised, but I'm definitely not happy.
Alright guys! That was my review of Hits 1's Top 45 of 2015! I hope you enjoyed! Did you agree with these rankings and/or any of my opinions? Did you disagree? Let me know in the comments down below! My Top 45 Songs of 2015 post is on its way! I know I've kept you waiting, but this post is right around the corner. So that'll be coming very soon.
In conclusion, Merry Christmas from your fellow Weekend Countdown blogger, Adrian Carrazco.
I'm actually stunned one song didn't make it:

Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud was 1 week away from lasting a year.
DeleteWait, it lasted a year. Do you even know what left this weekend?
DeleteFocus and Levels.
DeleteWhat?! You've got to be kidding me. This is a really bad way to end the year. Ugh!
DeleteBut hey, we still have Worth It but Downtown should've left instead of those 2.
DeleteOh, and I forgot to tell you my most missed song. That is Omi - Cheerleader.
DeleteAnd that's because it was so popular everywhere else and it isn't on The Top 45 Songs Of 2015 chart.

ReplyDeleteWalk The Moon - very good band!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a strange place and a tender age; I was just a babe in school
DeleteSaw them roll their eyes at me everytime that I thought that I was cool
Well uh God knows I was no chosen one that just wasn't my prime
Yeah it's just matter of time, honey, it's just a matter of time
And I will work this body I will burn this flame
Oh in the dead of night, and in the pouring rain
Yeah, I'm a workaholic and I swear, I swear
Yeah, and one day I will beat you fair and square
Show me what you got
Work this body on the floor
Just who do you think you are
C'mon meet me on the court
Que ferais-tu?
Putain, je ne sais pas!
It ain't no matter of "if", honey, it's just a matter of "when"
Ah, some sunday when it's my face in the newspaper again
All the rag magazines, black limousines, they'll be getting in line
Yeah it's just a matter of time, honey, it's just a matter of time
And I will work this body I will burn this flame
Oh in the dead of night, and in the pouring rain
Yeah, I'm a workaholic and I swear, I swear
Yeah, and one day I will beat you fair and square
Show me what you got
Work this body on the floor
Just who do you think you are
C'mon meet me on the court
Que ferais-tu?
Putain, je ne sais pas!
Ne vient pas pleurer...

DeleteInteresting chart. As already mentioned, I'm surprised that "Take Your Time", "Ex's And Oh's", and "Cheerleader" didn't make it on. Also, even for how new it is, I'm really surprised "Hello" isn't anywhere on this list. It has spent 7 weeks at number one, after all. But, as you said, there was clearly a great deal of subjectivity in compiling this list, as opposed to strictly looking at airplay and chart success.
ReplyDeleteYou listed two songs on this chart as "Really old and will hate if they don't leave." Don't worry, I suspect they will have left by next year's year-end countdown haha.
You know, I know this post is way old and this comment does feel redundant, especially since I did a full breakdown of 2015's Year-End Hot 100 WITH the songs from this list that weren't on that one, but I noticed that there was only one song in this 45 that I would put in red, going by the six-point scale (red = shit, turquoise = bad, yellow = meh, pink = decent, blue = good, green = great). In fact...
