Walk The Moon (6) – Week Of August 1, 2015

It's safe to say we're currently in the Dark Ages of the Weekend Countdown. Things aren't looking too hot in the Top 5. These songs that are really popular not only here, but all around the world, are honestly not even remotely interesting enough for me to search for on the radio or have on repeat on my music playlist. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young (#33)
  • Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun (#45)

Last Week’s #1 Song: Andy Grammer – Honey I’m Good

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Maroon 5 – This Summer’s Gonna Hurt... (–25)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Echosmith – Bright (+20)

New Entrants
~ Los 5 – Manana is a song I didn't necessarily care about when it came out. However, I slowly grew into it while it was on Hit-Bound. There's definitely worse on this countdown.

~ Sam Smith – Like I Can, unlike Lay Me Down, is one of his more upbeat, faster-paced songs and that's what I like to hear. I like songs that are fast rather than slow. Like I Can is probably the best song I've heard from Sam Smith up-to-date.

Hit-Bound
~ Deorro/Chris Brown – Five More Hours annoyingly left Hit-Bound this week. Why?!?!?!

~ I can guarantee you Daya – Hide Away is not going to debut on the countdown. I just don't see it happening. Might as well get rid of it now and spare all these good songs from getting the boot.

~ Icona Pop – Emergency is so annoying it's not even funny. I can't stand it every time it comes on the radio. And to think they couldn't have any song more annoying than I Love It from 2013. This song is a HUGE step back for these girls.

~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Zedd/Jon Bellion – Beautiful Now
  • A Great Big World – Hold Each Other
  • Jason Derulo – Cheyenne
  • Maroon 5 – Feelings
  • Icona Pop – Emergency
  • One Direction – Drag Me Down
  • Shy Carter – Bring It Back
  • X Ambassadors – Renegades
  • MAX/Hoodie Allen – Gibberish
  • Kaya Stewart – In Love With A Boy
  • R. City/Adam Levine – Locked Away
  • Little Mix – Black Magic
  • Daya – Hide Away
  • Nico & Vinz/Bebe Rexha – That's How You Know
  • Adam Lambert – Ghost Town
  • Just Seconds Apart – Unbelievable

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. TIE: X Ambassadors – Renegades
1. TIE: One Direction – Drag Me Down
3. A Great Big World – Hold Each Other
4. Little Mix – Black Magic
5. R. City/Adam Levine – Locked Away

He'll Never Love Blurbs Like I Can, Can, Can
~ Thanks to Fifth Harmony – Worth It entering the Top 10 this week, we now have 2 good songs in the Top 10. Still not enough, but I can live with it........for now.

~ I'm having a hard time believing people are still enjoying Tove Lo – Talking Body. Does anyone even like that song anymore? It's been extremely overplayed and I can't really stand it anymore.

~ On the other hand, D. Guetta/N. Minaj/B. Rexha/Afrojack – Hey Mama is one of those songs I can listen to hundreds of times in a row and still never get sick of it. I'm sure everyone has gone through that with at least one song.

~ Bea Miller – Fire N Gold is at #11. I'm not even kidding when I say I did not think this song would get that high. I thought it would pull a tenure similar to Young Blood, but clearly I was wrong.

~ Taylor Swift – Style is honestly annoying the crap out of me right now. We get it Taylor! You never go out of style!!!

~ Selena Gomez – Good For You clearly didn't last very long. It's still relatively high on iTunes though.

~ I have to say, our two exits were two of my summer songs of 2015. Way to give them the early boot, Hits 1.

~ I don't know about you, but I can now live knowing that Animals is not the only Maroon 5 song to not hit #1.

~ Echosmith – Bright having the Biggest Jump Of The Week is just not okay Hits 1. I'm tired of this. Does anyone even enjoy this song anymore?

~ Earlier today, I was challenged to describe how I felt about Shut Up and Dance hitting #1 this week in one word. That one word is: PISSED.

~ As usual, my Hit 45 Chart for this weekend is out! Find out if Hey Mama will be our #1 song for an eighth time overall if you didn't already.

~ Throwback Pick Of The Week: Maroon 5/Christina Aguilera – Moves Like Jagger

My Top 5 Picks
1. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
2. Ed Sheeran – Photograph
3. Tori Kelly – Should've Been Us
4. Demi Lovato – Cool For The Summer
5. Sam Smith – Like I Can

  1. I am pissed that The Night is Still Young got the boot too early, however for Fun I liked it but then grew out of it.

Who the hell is Los 5 and why are they singing the morning?!

I still don't get the appeal of 1D's current song on the list now, but I loved 3 of their past hits.

If Thinking Out Loud doesn't leave soon I'll resort to pulling my hair out soon!

Want to Want Me should have left the coundown already, and its still in the top 10!

Finally, I've been waiting for Like I Can to debut and now I can rejoice in harmony!

I actually still like Shut Up and Dance, but seriously give Bad Blood one more week at #1 please!

I'm actually suprised when I heard Charlie Puth was in with Spyder Harrison I wanted him to crack a joke about Charlie and Meghan rumored to be dating since their sang a song about Marvin Gaye and getting in on. Also the song needs to be higher.

I still enjoy Talking Body because songs that are overplayed don't effect all the time. Some cases they can *cough Happy cough*.

Beautiful Now, Black Magic, and Ghost Town should debut in 1-4 weeks or so.

I thought That Fire N Gold was actually being sung by Ellie Goulding, but Bea is really great at singing the song. It should reach the top ten next week.

I will I Really Like You, which will leave us next week I bet.

I like Go Big or Go Home but that autotune line in the middle of the damn song kills it for me.

Tell me See You Again will not flux back and forth betwwen the upper and lower thirds of the countdown.

The worst song on the countdown for me is Want To Want Me and the Best being Like I can.

Next week either Shut Up and Dance for 7 weeks, Cheerleader for its 1st week, Bad Blood for 2, or Fight Song at #1.

  2. I've finally watched Icona Pop's Emergency and I can say the video was too in your face, but the actually song I think there may be something wrong withe me. I tried to hate this song, but my brain reacts to the song more positive that I can actually tap my foot and shake it to the beat. Sorry Adrian but now I think I actually like it enough to question my sanity.

  3. I forgot to mention. Becky G – Lovin’ So Hard left Hit-Bound as well as Five More Hours. Two songs that had a pretty good tenure on the YouTube15.

But I don't think this song will debut ;(

    3. Just Seconds Apart didn't air during the 9-10 AM Hitbound. Let me know if it aired at another time

      Delete
  4. I wonder how much Walk the Moon pays to be #1 on both the Hits 1 and The Pulse countdowns for so many weeks. It is right up there with Uptown Fuck for most overplayed song of the year.

Fight Song has a pretty good shot at #1 (at least I hope so). But I don't know what the next new #1 will be. Cheerleader is probably the closest. Which I can live with. :)

  10. Adrian, just pointing this out, but you have 16 songs on your hit-bound list. You should probably fix that. But I'm really confused. I was told that Unbelievable left hit-bound as well, but then somewhen else told me In Love With A Boy left. WHICH ONE IS IT!!! (It better be In Love With A Boy)

    1. It is a fact that In Love With A Boy is still on Hit-Bound. When I listening to Hit-Bound last night, I heard it come on.

As for Unbelievable, it aired as the last song on Hit-Bound for some editions only. Like this morning during the 7-8 AM Eastern Time edition, it aired. You can check DogstarRadio. It was the song that aired right before this morning's edition of the YouTube15.

But overall, yes. There are 16 songs on Hit-Bound. 5 debuts; 4 edits. IDK why, but that's just how it is this week and I didn't question it.

      Delete
    2. OK Adrian thanks for clearing that up, I knew I thought that I didn't hear Just Seconds Apart on the 1st episode of Hitbound, but I figured it would be on another episode.

    Just Seconds Apart-Unbelievable(BLUE)

A Great Big World had a hit in 2013 with Christina Agulera called Say Something, which you should remember. Hold Each Other is pretty average. It sounds nice, but I don't see anything that special about this song. Maybe it will grow on me, but I don't think so.

Maroon 5 returns once again with Feelings. It is not bad. Its actually pretty catchy. I am not sure why they are pushing Adam Levine to be this super uber crazy falsetto singer, but I find it fits in this song.

One Direction... Is back... AGAIN!!! But hang on, Drag Me Down is not half bad. I couldn't decide if it was blue or green, so I just put both.

X ambassadors return with Renegades, a song that I have been enjoying for a while now. It is really good, and I really hope it debuts

Finally, we have Locked Away by newcomers R. City featuring Adam Levine. It has a bit of a tropical beat to it, but stays in the pop area which I like. I have also been enjoying this song so I also really hope it debuts

I am losing hope in a debut from Ghost Town. PLZ HITS 1.

Yes. I like Gibberish now. Your welcome. :)

I finally heard Bring It Back, and it ok. It will probably grow on me though.

I don't know what Icona Pop was thinking. Emergency is incredibly bad. It needs to leave NAOUGHW

I have a feeling In Love With A Boy will pull a Who Is Fancy-Goodbye. On AT40 for a few weeks and doesn't debut here.

Goodbye Deorro/Chris Brown-Five More Hours and Becky G-Lovin So Hard

    10. Trance…proceed to party. (green)
    9. Oh……look at that. What a nice surprise. (yellow)
    8. Fun fact: this song is #8 both here and on the AT40 this week. The only difference is that last week on the AT40 it was #11, while last week here it was at the top. :] (green)
    7. PLEASE DROP TO THE BOTTOM FIVE BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH (orange)
    6. I don't think this one will hit #1. Then again…I might be wrong. (green)
    5. And just when I officially got sick of this song…it's back in the top 5. Waaaay too late. (red)
    4. What is Trance's deal with this song? First he loves it, then he hates it, now he loves it again. It's confuzzling. (purple)
    3. This might pull off #1, this might not. (green)
    2. I could live with this song spending next week at #1. (yellow)

  19. Time for Brian's review of the countdown!

x33. I wouldn't have expected this song to have a short tenure, especially with a debut at #26. (Green)
x45. I could write a 5 page essay on why this song shouldn't have left so early. But I'll keep my anger out. (Green)

    45. LEAVE! NOW! (Red)
    44. I'm disappointed. This song definetily deserved more... (Green)
    43. Yep, pretty sure this one's gonna leave soon. (Pink)
    42. 6 more weeks until this song lasts a year. I'm not gonna tell people to not make it happen, 'cause it will either way. (Red)
    41. This song debuted all the way at #15. It didn't even reach the Top 10. That's just sad Hits 1. (Green)
    40. STOP!!!!!!! (Red)
    39. Not as good as Stay With Me or I'm Not The Only One, but still pretty good. (Green)

    28. Really? (Yellow)
    27. There might still be some hope for this song... (Green)
    26. This is getting nowhere. That's not a surprise. (Pink)
    25. New peak next week?? (Green)
    24. Keep jumping! (Green)
    23. This has already reached its peak. (Blue)
    22. YAASSS!! (Purple)
    21. It's dropped to the 20s again. Will it have another jump to the Top 10, or is it dying? (Green)
    20. THANK YOU HITS 1!! (Green)
    19. Meh. (Blue)
    18. Stay up there for just a little bit longer, please. (Green)

    13. Let's get this in the Top 10! (Green)
    12. Not too many really good songs in the Top 10. If this song could get back in there, our problems may be solved. (Green)
    11. I would've never thought this song would get this high. (Blue)
    10. Not too excited. (Pink)
    9. Finally. We've been waiting for a while. (Green)

  23. Remy's Mini Hit-Bound Review:
Shy Carter- Bring It Back: I still have no opinion on this song, because I've only heard this song, like, one time, so I've forgotten what it sounds like... (dark green/gray)
Just Seconds Apart- Unbelievable: The mysterious 16th song on Hit-Bound, it's just a little too generic and bland for my liking... (blue)
Daya- Hideaway: Honestly, I like this song as a whole, but I guess it's also sort of generic, and she kinda sounds like Jess Glynne in a way... (blue/green)

All the rest, though, are green/purple. No lie.

Remy's Top 5 (in no particular order):
A Great Big World- Hold Each Other
    Icona Pop- Emergency
    One Direction- Drag Me Down
    R. City/Adam Levine- Locked Away
    Adam Lambert- Ghost Town

    Hope y'all enjoyed!

Why is Can't Feel My Face in blue, Love Me Like You Do in green, Cheerleader in red, This Summer's Gonna Hurt in yellow, Something's Gotta Give in green, Fight Song in pink, You Know You Like It in red, Hey Mama in purple, Go Big Or Go Home in red, Tear In My Heart in blue, and I'm Good in red?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ok. Here we go:

      - Can't Feel My Face is blue because while the verses may sound cool, I'm really not a fan of the chorus and overall, it's not The Weeknd's best song.

      - Love Me Like You Do is one of those songs I enjoy for a really long time, which is why it is green.

      - Cheerleader is downright annoying.

      - I've overlistened to This Summer's Gonna Hurt... and lost interest in it.

      - Something's Gotta Give is still that really catchy alternative/rock song that I enjoy. It may be a while till I get sick of it.

      - Fight Song is already being overplayed. But it's not bad either.

      - You Know You Like It is extremely annoying at this point.

      - Hey Mama is that song I can listen to 100 times and never get sick of it, similar to Calvin Harris ft. John Newman - Blame. I'm sure we all have that one song that we never get sick of. Well for me, this is that song.

      - Go Big Or Go Home is really bland and just not interesting at all. Same goes for I'm Good.

      - Tear In My Heart is good, but not great.

      - Finally, Bright has been overplayed and I've heard it too much.

    3. Well, it ain't the only one. Disclosure and Sam Smith bowed in at #10 on the Continental Chart with Omen. 1D's No Control debuted Adrian's Hit 45 at #8. Fetty Wap and Monty jumped onto Lance's T45 mania at #10. I even had Nothing Without Love debut at #1 at the end of February, a month before I started the blog. So, you see…

    1. Shut Up and Drive came before Shut Up and Dance. But Shut Up and Dance is certainly not a parody of Shut Up and Drive. The titles are the only thing in common, I think.

  54. After looking at Dogstarradio, I can confidently say that this week's #1 song will either be Shut Up and Dance or Bad Blood.

WHY HITS 1 WHY CAN'T SOMETHING NEW BE #1 LIKE FIGHT SONG OR PHOTOGRAPH OR CHEERLEADER BUT NOT WANT TO WANT ME BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE WORSE BUT STILL THOSE TWO SONGS HAVE BEEN UP THERE ALL SUMMER AUGHALSKDHJFNA;OILDFHSN;IA/LKES.HFD

    2. Here's my bottom 5 songs of 2015:
      5. Priory - Weekend
      4. MAX/Hoodie Allen - Gibberish
      3. Sam Smith/John Legend - Lay Me Down
      2. Sheppard - Geronimo
      1. Kaya Stewart - In Love With A Boy
Also, how could you even hate this wonderful song that is my favorite song ever? My fav song of 2015 is Fifth Harmony - Worth It.
My current lights over Paris award is Steve Aoki/Moxie - I Love It When You Cry and yes I was very disappointed when it didn't make the countdown.
My current biggest whiff would probably go to Fetty Wap - Trap Queen because it's very popular but I know that Adrian hates that song.
      Current tenure trophies:
Shortest - David Guetta - Dangerous
Longest - Any of the songs that were on the countdown since any day before 2015 started.
Most Missed Song: Fifth Harmony - Sledgehammer
Throwback Pick: Cobra Starship/Sabi - You Make Me Feel (2011)
#1 Recommendation: Fifth Harmony - Worth It
Recommendation For Hits 1: Macklemore/Ed Sheeran - Growing Up
Countdown Debut Recommendation: Zedd/Jon Bellion - Beautiful Now
