New Entrants
~ Everyone please make way for Queen Nicki Minaj as she slays her way into this countdown yet again with The Night Is Still Young. The last solo song from her was Anaconda from last year, which didn't last too long even though it was a really catchy song. I'm hoping The Night Is Still Young can be as successful as a bunch of other songs from Queen Minaj like Starships. But overall, I am definitely loving this song.

~ The Weeknd replaced himself on the countdown this week with Can't Feel My Face, a song that I found to be weird at first. I personally think Earned It was and will always be his best at this rate, not that this song isn't good because it is. It is quite catchy. I don't know how far this will get since Earned It was a #1 song everywhere, but it didn't even hit Top 10 on this countdown.

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • MKTO – Bad Girls
  • Selena Gomez – Good For You (DEBUT)
  • Sam Smith – Like I Can
  • Becky G – Lovin' So Hard
  • Years & Years – King
  • Mowgli's – I'm Good
  • Flo Rida/Robin Thicke/Verdine White – I Don't Like It, I Love It
  • The Heydaze – Dumb (DEBUT)
  • Shawn Mendes – Stitches
  • Daya – Hide Away
  • American Authors – Go Big Or Go Home
  • Los 5 – Manana
  • Just Seconds Apart – Unbelievable
  • Kaya Stewart – In Love With A Boy
  • Adam Lambert – Ghost Town

~ So in conclusion, Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry by no surprise left Hit-Bound.

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Adam Lambert – Ghost Town
2. Flo Rida/Robin Thicke/Verdine White – I Don't Like It, I Love It
3. Selena Gomez – Good For You
4. Sam Smith – Like I Can
5. MKTO – Bad Girls

The Blurbs Are Still Young
~ A lot of you are questioning why I think DJ Snake/AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It is close to being old. The reason is because I listened to the song A LOT before it debuted here. Plus, it's EXTREMELY repetitive. It's very easy to get sick of that continuous beat.

~ Nick Jonas – Jealous needs to leave already. This is absolutely ridiculous. I remember when it debuted and I didn't think it would be that successful. Well look where it is now. This is the first countdown it debuted on as well as the only one it is still on now.

~ Former countdown songs Heymous Molly – Life's A Beach and Halsey – Ghost keep airing on Hits 1. This is ridiculous. These songs had their shots and they failed to be successful. And now they're haunting the Hits 1 playlist hoping for another shot. How about a big fat NO!

~ Magic! – No Way No and Meghan Trainor – Dear Future Husband are definitely leaving within the next couple of weeks.

~ I thought for sure the drop from Dear Future Husband would allow Charlie Puth/Meghan Trainor – Marvin Gaye to rise over #30. Clearly I was wrong.

~ I find it a little interesting how Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down is still here. It's pulling an Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life where it hangs around in the bottom third of the countdown after not really having that much success in the higher parts of the countdown.

~ Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up is now EXTREMELY annoying!!! Please leave soon! I never thought I could hate an Olly Murs song before. He usually has really good music that sticks with me for a really long time. This one got annoying relatively quickly.

~ Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out is hanging on for dear life. I'm amazed at how long it has stayed. I thought it would've left within its first few weeks considering this is literally the only station you will hear this song.

~ George Ezra – Budapest has had its time. Now it needs to leave. It was nice while it lasted.

~ For the past few weeks, reader and commenter Thatchos has claimed that D. Guetta/N. Minaj/B. Rexha/Afrojack – Hey Mama has hit its peak (at #10). Way to prove him wrong. Let's have this song hit Top 5 next week!

~ At this rate, Sugar and Thinking Out Loud are two definite contenders for the Bottom 5 Songs Of 2015. I now cast death upon these two songs!*

*Assuming that I did it right, they should leave soon (which I know they're not going to).

~ The Q&A post should be out sometime this week. Stay tuned for that.

~ Hit 45 Chart is out! Will Adam Lambert – Ghost Town hold #1 for a second week in a row?!?! You'll have to hang on to find out!

~ As much as I try to make these posts fun for you to read, we're about to enter serious mode. So yesterday, the United States supreme court has ruled that no state in the US can ban same-sex marriage. So basically, same-sex marriage has been legalized in all 50 states. Yesterday was a really important and special day for a lot of people including myself because it was basically a way of saying that everyone is equal. This ruling was a huge step forward towards marriage equality all around the world. As President Barack Obama quoted, "All people should be treated equally, regardless of who they are or who they love. When all Americans are treated as equal, we are all more free," with the trending #LoveWins. This was a very special day that so many companies have changed their solid-color logos to rainbow-colored logos. Literally there were rainbows all over social media. Yesterday, YouTube released a video titled, "#ProudToLove - Celebrating Marriage Equality and LGBT Pride Month" showing many YouTubers who have came out in one of their videos as well as the supreme courts decision to legalize same-sex marriages nationwide. It's a very emotional video that put tears into my eyes. I'll put the link down below. But overall, this date (June 26, 2015) is going down in history. As quoted from YouTuber Davey Wavey, "It's like one of those things you know was going to happen someday but it didn't feel like that someday was going to be this someday." So yeah. That was a very long paragraph right there. Let's move along with the post.

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
1. TIE: Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young
3. All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give
4. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
5. Meghan Trainor – Dear Future Husband

Selena is back! Good for you is a really great song and I don't mind if they took A$AP rocky out of it. It has already hit number one on itunes as well.

    Man, Years & Years-King,
    Shawn Mendes-Stitches, and
Mowgli's-Im Good have been on Hitbound a while now.

Oh my god is Kaya Stewart-In Love With A Boy terrible. I hope it just goes away forever.

    11. This song is definitely good enough to be in the Top 10 for at least one more week. (Green)
    10. Spyder Harrison's introduction for this song was funny. The yoga thing was amusing, and it was also kind of funny when he got bleeped out trying to say "Motherf***er". (Green)
    9. .....And now it's old. (Yellow)
    8. Please leave the Top 10, AS IN NOW! (Red)
    7. Nothing in me wants to hate this song. That's good since I already can't stand their song at #37. (Blue)
    6. Songs like this should be replacing our #5 or our #1 in the Top 5. (Green)
    5. Now I'm gonna start to get mad if this sticks around the Top 10. (Turquoise)

    1. Habits is different though because it actually had a successful run on the countdown. Hits 1 tends to play previous hits. But Habits was successful unlike Ghost and Life's A Beach.

      Delete
    2. I actually think Ghost and Life's a Beach are getting a "second wave" of publicity. A new video came out for Ghost recently, and Life's a Beach was rereleased altogether. It would be cool if one of them re-entered. :)

  77. I called in for a guest DJ spot today. Spyder said they weren't doing that this week, though. :( However, he did recognize me, and he was pretty friendly! He even asked about my 4th of July plans this weekend! Spyder is great. I'd like to meet him in person sometime. That would be AWESOME just to sit down and have a little interview with him…but I know that isn't too likely. But, hey…people can dream. :)
And there IS a reason for no guest DJ spots this week: There's gonna be ONE guest DJ running the show! Spyder told me who it was, but I don't know if I'm supposed to say, so I'll just say…that this week's guest host is someone who has been a hot topic in the comments lately. :)
