Taylor Swift (4) – Week Of February 7, 2015

Valentine's Day is a week from today. But what most people don't realize is that the day before Valentine's Day is Friday The 13th. I still have no idea how it started and I feel like an idiot for believing in it. But if you're planning to ask someone out that day, you should be careful and make sure nothing bad happens. I don't necessarily know what could happen. But it's just a heads-up. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Tie Between Maroon 5 – Animals and Nick Jonas – Jealous (–15)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do (+18)

New Entrants
~ I'm getting kinda tired of Taylor Swift at this point. She debuted with Style, which to me, is just another song. Nothing special to it. It may grow on me. We'll have to wait and see.

~ Both Usher – I Don't Mind and Ne-Yo – She Knows originally had Juicy J in them. But since Hits 1 doesn't like Juicy J, they thought it would be a good idea to remove him from both songs. I Don't Mind is most definitely not Usher's best. Comparing this to songs like DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love, Hot Tottie, Somebody To Love, Scream, and More, you can easily tell the difference. Usher made a terrible decision to make music like a lot of rap artists by using just one simple beat. People don't understand that this simple of a beat is boring as hell. Even She Came To Give It To You was better than this crap. In terms of She Knows, I think Ne-Yo's better when he's featured in songs like Pitbull – Give Me Everything, Calvin Harris – Let's Go, and David Guetta – Play Hard rather than as a solo artist. She Knows is definitely better than I Don't Mind. Ne-Yo has some nice vocals in this song. It will probably grow on me. There's a greater chance of this growing on me than Style.

~ Olly Murs has returned this week as he debuted with Wrapped Up featuring Travie McCoy, who you never know when he's gonna retire from music considering the fact that he hasn't made much music lately. The song is really catchy. It's better than Dance With Me Tonight, but doesn't quite hit the height of Troublemaker.

~ Finally we have Life Of Dillon making their very first countdown debut with Overload. These guys kinda have this Timeflies sound to them, both in their music and in their vocals. If you flashback to when Timeflies – All The Way was on the countdown, you can tell that these two groups kinda have similar sounding voices. Of course, Overload is not as EDM sounding as All The Way. But you get the basic idea. Overload is really catchy and good in its own little way. I doubt it'll stay here long. So I'm just gonna enjoy it for however long it's here.

Blurb Me To Church
~ I need to learn how to stop saying things like "Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life won't be hitting #1 anytime soon." What happens is that Hits 1 reads it and they decide to prove me wrong every time.

~ OneRepublic – I Lived is really starting to annoy me now by jumping to #4 this week.

~ I am extremely shocked that MisterWives – Reflections is still here.

~ Sam Smith – Lay Me Down is on Hit-Bound. This is song pretty boring and bad that it makes I'm Not The Only One seem really good, which is why it was promoted to pink.

~ Also on Hit-Bound, we have Natalie La Rose/Jeremih – Somebody. This song is okay. Jeremih is not the best vocalist out there.

~ It's about time Break Free and Steal My Girl left.

~ This is the first time after what seemed like forever where we don't have a song from OneRepublic and a song from One Direction right next to each other.

~ Tomorrow night are the Grammy's, which I will be watching. I believe Rihanna will be performing with Kanye West and Paul McCartney on her new song, FourFiveSeconds

~ I apologize for the serious lack of blurbs this week. Nothing interesting happened at all.

~ Random Song I Started Enjoying: Kid Ink/Usher/Tinashe – Body Language

My Top 5 Picks
1. Life Of Dillon – Overload
2. Hozier – Take Me To Church
3. Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up
4. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
5. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good

I think the only other artist who's done this was the Maroon 5.)

    1. 1. Do you check your spelling before you post this? Some of these I had to decode into English.

      2. No one said they hate Style. To me it's just okay.

      3. Riptide isn't really old because I don't hear it as much as I do Centuries.

      4. I wouldn't question why Thinking Out Loud got its huge promotion if I were you.

      5. I'm getting tired of the slow songs. I know they are meaningful, but they are just boring. That's how I feel about Lay Me Down.

      6. I don't really have an opinion on Bright yet.

      7. All About It is good WTF? We can't agree on anything!

      8. I have never heard of Crapimals or Craps. But I do know Animals and Maps which are currently on this countdown. Both of which are by Maroon 5. They're really good because they're what I have left of this band at the moment.

  7. Oh another list to review....

    45. I'm not a fan of Misterwives at all... and this has to be one of their most annoying songs. Mandy's vocals are overly mousy and just plain awful here.
    44. Generic boyband schlock minus the boyband.
    43. I quite liked Animals actually even though the lyrical message is contemptible. It's showing it's age, however...
    42. I'm so happy this song is finally starting to drop away... it's a bad song with a catchy chorus..
    41. Overrated but catchy europop.
    40. Interesting indie song that will probably never see the hot 100. It's pretty good but I'm surprised it's here.
    39. Ariana's best song bar none did not get the chart performance it deserved.
    38. I can't wait for this song to be gone for good. It's worth a listen or two and that's about it.
    37. Can't believe this song is still here. It's just behind Counting Stars in terms of quality and should've charted better.
    36. One direction clone... somewhat better though in many respects though...
    35. I'm not usually a fan of modern R&B but this one has a very sultry old school R&B vibe that I kind of like.
    34. Olly Murs is the British Bruno Mars and like Bruno makes consistently good old school songs and this one is no exception. I hope this ends up in the hot 100 soon. This song might be better then Uptown Funk...
    33. Not an Ed Sheeran fan and this collab isn't all that great
    32. Just go away, please! It's been out of the hot 100 for ages why is it still here!
    31. Not Usher's best... that's an understatement
    30. Bad song from an extremely overrated band
    29. WTF is this? no thanks...
    28. Ugh... teen pop not much better then Rebecca Black...
    27. Weird but interesting song that I'm not really that into...
    26. TS wastes her talent on songs like this...
    25. Am I alone in not really liking FOBs latest album? This song is okay but not their best...
    24. It's a fun dance/party song that unfortunately is infested with the Pitbull virus..
    23. How is the One Direction clone on here more then the genuine article... Maybe it's because they are somewhat better...
    22. Why did Ellie Goulding cheat on Ed Sheeran? Is it because he looks like a Hobbit or is songs like this?
    21. 5 seconds of summer? More like 15 minutes of fame that's hopefully come to an end.
    20. I was bored of this song last year and it's still boring now.
    19. Can't say I like much of Tove Lo's work, and this isn't as good as Habits...
    18. Some people can pull off old school disco, not Maroon 5... this song is hilariously bad.
    17. This whole countdown could be Ellie Goulding's discography and I wouldn't mind. She is one of THE best female vocalists in modern pop music. This song is a lyrical mess but Ellie's vocals more then make up for it. How "Outside" is not on this list is a crime against humanity.
    16. Sam Smith is overrated and boring. He's got a good voice it's just got no energy to it.
    15. I like Sledgehammer more then I should from what is essentially a destiny's child tribute band...

    Continued...

  8. 14. This track is songwriting genius, and Ella's soulful vocals are a real pleasure. One of the year's best songs so far.
    13. Cute little song and an even cuter youtube video...
    12. Matt Smith's favorite song... haha... it's a fun little song.
    11. It's okay but not to the level of Best Song Ever or Story of my Life...
    10. FOB's got an ego don't they... hearing this song throughout the college football playoff killed it for me...
    9. MKTO's going a bit political aren't they. It's not a bad song but it's not as good as Classic.
    8. This song is a disappointing followup for the Dragons... The song Shots from their new album is better...
    7. An extremely generic and simplistic pop song that I can't stop listening too... Kelly's still got it, but I wish she'd do something a bit more complex...
    6. I don't get this song's popularity at all..
    5. Better then "Bass" IMO but still not a fan of Meghan...
    4. This song is a return to the boring, safe OneRepublic of the early 2010s
    3. Wow it's not #1 that's surprising... no surprise it's one of my favorite songs of the year. It's a song that almost compels you to get up and dance...
    2. About as generic as a ballad can get... hopefully after Valentine's Day this song drops...
    1. It's better then Shake it Off I guess... Again I don't think TS has fully realized her talent yet.

    Top 5:

    1. Olly Murs/Travie McCoy: Wrapped Up
    2. Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars: Uptown Funk
    3. Ella Henderson : Ghost
    4. Ellie Goulding: Love Me Like You Do
    5. Kelly Clarkson: Heartbeat Song

      4. Wow, talk about a jump into the top 5!
      3. (gasp) Enough said.
      2. You aren't helping here.
      1. Now I really hate you, for completely dethroning Uptown Funk from the top spot. If it wasn't for you, Uptown Funk would've had a streak going by now. But I understand that Hits 1 is obsessed with you. So I'll let you go (again) this time.

  20. The performance of Thinking Out Loud at the Grammys with Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Herbie Hancock, and Questlove was just PERFECT. Simply PERFECT.

Guys, I've got a feeling that this is THE week for Thinking Out Loud.
The Grammy performance shot it up to #1 on iTunes.
Also, this week is freakin' VALENTINE'S DAY.
Combine all those factors with the popularity it already has (practically the #2 song in America now), and I am sure that this week Thinking Out Loud will simply be the #1 song in America. (It won't be until next week on the Hot 100, because the data is collected the week before.)
Guys, I said it before and I'll say it again:
This is simply THE WEEK for Thinking Out Loud.

  21. I think the best Grammy's performance of the night was Sam Smith feat. Mary J. Blige – Stay With Me. Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani – My Heart Is Open comes in second.

    2. Hmmm…I'll have to listen to it.

But does anybody have any predictions for this weekend?

I predict either Blank Space or Thinking Out Loud will hit #1. Most preferably the latter.

    3. I don't think there was a lot of Hit-Bound playing this week. We may either have no entrants or we may have a random re-entrant. Take Me To Church needs to get into the Top 5. I would be super happy if it hit #1. I saw the music video for that song just recently, and I teared up. It was sad. :'(

Also, I would prefer Blank Space at the top over Thinking Out Loud, but it probably won't happen.

NOTE: Thinking Out Loud is in blue right now. If it hits #1, that may affect the song's color-code. The Valentine's Day edition of the Hit 45 Chart is currently being worked on.

    4. I think it would be a crime if Thinking Out Loud didn't hit #1 this week. If it doesn't hit #1 until April or something, it would probably be in pink or yellow by that point.
